We were visiting friends and were looking for a place to have a good authentic Scottish breakfast. I remembered the farm shop from when I used to live in Dumfries ten years ago. So we decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed! Everything was fresh and yummy and cooked to perfection. I would give it 10 stars if I could. This will certainly not be our last visit.

Arrived at approximately 13.30 on a Tuesday afternoon, the restaurant was full to capacity but we were seated within 5 minutes. The member of staff who took our order was polite and very efficient. When our meal arrived, I was disappointed with the lamb burger. Presentation was very basic, 3 slices of gherkin and a miniscule amount of limp lettuce accompanied the burger. My wife had chosen a chicken toastie which arrived barely toasted. The bacon, brie and cranberry toastie my daughter had ordered was awful. The bacon was extremely fatty and barely cooked the bread was hardly toasted at all. Definitely not the best meal we have had at Kilnford, the quality of cooking seems to have deteriorated. My personal view is that the order was rushed because the place was very busy. Will think twice about returning for a meal.

Went there for lunch last Tuesday . My son had the 4th July burger and said it was the best burger he has tasted . We had the Mac and cheese and tomato soup with a toasty . It was all just lovely full of flavour and very fresh . Then went to the butchers shop and bought some steaks and sausage rolls .. Again all absolutely delicious. Will definitely be back for lunch and to get more food from butchers shop when we are back down again on holiday .

Decided to go in for lunch with my mum as we have been before and always enjoy it. We were lucky to get a table as we expected it to be busy with all the traffic there was on the roads that day. We were greeted as soon as we walked in and both ended up having the specials (beef olives and fish and chips). The food was restaurant quality, which you wouldn't necessarily expect for a "farm shop." They use local produce (I'm assuming from the butcher's area of the shop and it was so difficult to choose what to have! Really happy with our food and the staff were super friendly and had a chat and giggle with us when serving us. I'll always head back for lunch when I'm out and about in Dumfries. Would rather this than head to the town centre anywhere. Hoping we can get time to head back soon!

Very convenient for breaking your journey along the A75 (400m off the roundabout to the Dumfries hospital) this has a pleasant seating area that takes dogs and now has a weatherproof canopy area. Good coffee and a.range of snacks and food. There is an indoor restaurant too that we didnt try which doesn't allow dogs. The farm shop has a very good range of meat, veg, drinks and tourist souvenirs- most of it locally produced.

It was our first visit and we were not disappointed. We had a delicious, well cooked, small breakfast each. Then we visited the butchery department. It was superb - all the meat was fresh and laid out so choices could be made. The butcher who served us knew exactly what we were asking for, packaged all our purchases ready for the freezer and we enjoyed the banter with him. Even though it was busy we didn't feel rushed. We have just cooked and eaten the most delicious, tender, Galloway beef, sirloin, quick fried steaks. We'll certainly be back.

1225 we arrived on a Tuesday and I ran in to check there was a table as my disabled father was in the car. A waiter showed me a suitable table by the window and we all piled in (5 of us) 1240 we ordered to be told first they had run out of macaroni and then also out of chicken goujons. 1315 the two kids meals arrived with an over cooked burger and some chips (we also ordered coleslaw which didn’t arrive) 1330 and our food hadn’t arrived (it was busy) 1345 I asked our waiter who said he would go and check but he never came back and he avoided our table for the rest of the visit… 1350 I walked to the till to ask about our food and another waiter returned to say there had been a glitch in the system and our food order hadn’t gone through! (The kids got theirs though) My dad is diabetic which I mentioned and he advised he would get his food immediately (a simple white bread ham sandwich) This arrived on slightly stale granary bread but he had to eat by this point…. The other 2 meals (BLT and lentil soup with a toastie) then arrived. After a few mouthfuls I realised my soup was mushroom not lentil.. We did have a very apologetic waiter offering rounds of drinks but the fact was that a family catch-up had the children eating almost an hour before the adults and the incorrect food coming to us. In paying the bill I mentioned that my soup had been mushroom to which the girl replied “oh yes we ran out of lentil”. Just as well I wasn’t allergic to mushrooms.. My mum is a frequent visitor here both to eat and the farm shop but even she won’t be returning in a hurry No mention was made at any time of them being busy therefore things may take a bit longer and not once did anyone come to check we had our food/everything was ok

Used to love the mezze platter ...tasty and fresh selection of items on the plate. But was so disappointed in what I received today. Was honestly gutted. Olives...check. warm pitta bread...check. cous cous..check. No beetroot, no feta, no sundried tomatoes, no lemon hummus. Instead...sweet chilli hummus like you can buy in tesco. Ordinary mixed salad...lettuce leaves, red onions, normal tomatoes and peppers. Plus a wrap...which I didn't want or need. If you have changed the menu to this, then that is a real shame. If you had run out of the items required to make it, then I think you should have said. Its not what was advertised and was still charged at the full price . Located just off the Dumfries bypass, across from the ambulance entrance to the new infirmary. A fairly sprawling farm type property, with tastefully renovated stone farm buildings and adequate free parking. The outfit offers an excellent butcher shop (free delivery throughout the UK advertised), a small farm produce section, a craft beer and wine selection, a restaurant, and of course, a gift store. The cafeteria style eatery offers a limited selection of soft drinks, wine and beer, cold sandwiches, freshly made soup, and a selection of in house prepared local farm foods, including salads, steak burgers, smoked trout, lamb, “Beltie” beef, pork, grilled bacon baps etc., Sunday roasts on Sunday, and a limited choice of desserts. There are some options for vegans and vegetarians. Our group went on Sunday, and ordered a wide selection, including burger, trout, roast beef, steak on a bun and roast pork. There was a fairly long wait at the till to pay for it, but the food was delivered to our table shortly after. All the food received very positive reviews, except for the boiled neeps (undercooked) and cauliflower (overcooked), and both vegetables stone cold. The place is obviously very popular for Sunday lunch, because it was packed with mostly local diners, which probably explains the congestion at the till. On the whole, really good food, and very reasonably priced for what you get. Expect to pay about 10 to 15 pounds per person, including a drink and coffee or dessert. There is also a tasty looking breakfast menu advertised, might have to go back for that next time in town! I bought some items at the butcher/deli to eat on the train the next day.....A sausage roll, which was great, a pretty dandy Scotch pie, and some Haggis slices. The haggis was stale, dry and nasty, so I threw it out of the window in an effort to humanely reduce the fox population.

Stopped here for lunch, was a bit disappointed very commercial not the friendly farm shop I was expecting.ordered lunch at a counter where all hot food was being kept on hot plates, you then take a table and are given a number a waitress then brings your food over.We found portions on the small size for the prices charged,we both had lasagne which came with a very small salad,or potatoes or chips, again small portions. We also found the food could be hotter seemed to be quite cold until you got to the middle.

Our journey started with a quick call ahead to check on the size of the car park. We were towing a caravan, heading home, and didn't want to get stuck! No problem, just use the staff car park, which was basically an open space on rough ground, and perfect for our needs. Parked up and headed in. We received a cheery good morning from staff, returned the salutation, and immediately ignored all the tempting produce on display and headed for the cafe / restaurant! We opted for the Big Beltie Breakfast and the French Toast with Bacon. It's not cheap. But it is fantastic! Yes, for a couple of quid less you good eat something similar at Tesco down the road. No ta. This is entirely a different league. Quality foods, decent portions, clean and well maintained surroundings. both the haggis, and the Black pudding were of a good thickness and tasted great. The egg wasn't the usual washed out yellow you'd expect, but a glorious sunrise orange. My only complaint is that I didn't have room for a scone afterwards! We bought a couple of steaks, some spicy potatoes, and some fresh spinach for tea later. The steaks were superb, and the produce also.I'd recommend a stop here anytime!

Always good food. Great for children as there is the park outside and the animals. The shop is also worth a visit.

Stopped for dinner on the way past. Food was very tasty and the portion sizes were large. Just lacked a bit of an X factor to really take it to the next level. Would go back again however and test out some other dishes

We called in to Klinford Farm Restaurant on our way to and from Newcastle upon Tyne off the Cairnryan Ferry. This is a convenient stop, just off the A75, for good food and friendly service in bright airy surroundings - as well as to purchase some fine Beltie Galloway beef to bring home !

Visited here for coffee and a scone.Last visit approx. 18 months ago, I was not impressed. However yesterday I was very impressed-staff most helpful and pleasant--the place was clean and I noted tables were being properly cleaned between customers. Loos were immaculate.

Stopped by for some lunch, but wanted something more than a toastie. There were numerous signs up in the cafe to say that the grill was out of order on the day we visited, so we abandoned the idea of having something to eat.Browsed the farm shop, and bought a few things to cook for dinner (steak pie, vegetables), all very nice. A little bit pricey, but good quality. Staff very friendly and polite.

Farm shop promise loads but offer little in my experience, years ago you could buy freshly grown/picked fruit and veg, some meat and eggs. Nowadays these "farm shops" are like department stores selling overpriced goods eg Borders biscuits at £2.95 are £1.25 in Sainsburys. We bought some bacon it was so salty to be almost inedible. Eggs tasted no better than supermarket purchase but more expensive. Once again pretty disappointed
