Chips have got thinner but still remain undercooked and greasy, it's like they don't want to turn the fryer up! Have often been unwell the following morning! Food needs to be cooked at the right temperature (especially chicken).Having a server that shoves the food at you tops it off. As a local I shall be looking elsewhere.

Sausage was nice, chips awful!... The attitude on the 2 old men serving was disgusting, very rude. It wasn't just a off day ether as I returned the next day and was giving the same attitude again. Can't treat customers with respect and act like you enjoy your job, sell your business!!

Food is great here , but owner attitude towards staff is horrendous, not great for customers to see and not the first time witnessed here

Great service. Highly recommend. The food was good and fresh, but it felt like there could have been a bit more of it. There is a sit-down area to eat in looks lovely (didn't eat in).

the standards of this have really gone down we stay in kilgety two or three times a year call in because its handy not been very good but the last occasion was terrible the wife ordered cod pieces and paid stood there for over half an hour being ignored while other customers being served in the end having to ask for money back will not be returning

Sadly, they don't follow their own opening times as when we went, 20 minutes before they were due to close, they were already closed!

A very popular and busy fish bar. Fish n chips is no longer a cheap meal but our cod and scampi were delicious.

I am local and have used this chippy as long as I can remember. It has apparently recently changed hands. Ever since the prices have been steadily increasing and are now on par with the top fish and chip shops in Tenby (which are far nicer). A couple of weeks ago, I had a piece of fish and it looked like a really nice piece of fish. Within 15minutes I fell unwell, and it wasn't the first time this has happened with fish from here either. Seeing the reviews about undercooked chicken has made me even more concerned. As for the chips they're either anemic looking or hard. I will say fishbites are far better value than a piece of fish. It costs less and you get more fish. I would go into Tenby instead but it is such a chore to get in there at this time of year I tend to avoid the place. This evening I asked for chips and curry sauce. The curry sauce is now put into a much smaller tub. I queried this and they admitted the tub was smaller. I stated 'your prices are going up and up but your portions are getting smaller' the response I got was 'I know.' I have, on other occasions witnessed people returning their food either for the quality, or portion sizes for the price. Not something I ever witnessed until recently. I am also yet to meet a fellow local person who recommends this place. It is being kept going by tourists which is probably why the prices have gone up. This wouldn't be the first place in the area to increase prices to profit off the tourists whilst showing no consideration to the locals who the rely on in Winter. They charge £6.30 for chips, cheese and gravy which is extortionate! You can get loaded fries, made with all fresh local ingredients, huge portions for not much more up the road!

I'm actually still in shock as to how abysmal my experience was in this establishment!!! Firstly the wait!! 45 minutes for 4 portions of chips and 1 curry sauce. We saw people come n and order and get served whilst we were waiting. We approached them several times. Eventually we got our very basic order, just as I was about to ask for my money back and leave empty handed...how I wish I did!! The food...disgusting chips in a sweaty cardboard box (what's wrong with paper??) all we could smell was damp cardboard, we put them onto plates and what a sorry sight they were. Tasteless, bendy chips. It really must depend on the constant new customer base with all the holidaymakers because i fail to see how it would garner any return custom, and certainly not from local people is my guess. Another to avoid, such a shame. No competition ensures it making money albeit from zero customer service and awful food offerings.

Been here previously and it was hood so went back beautiful food lovely crispy batter. 😋 friendly staff we went earlier in the night so kids wasn't eating too late food was cooked fresh and was lovely will certainly be back every time we are staying in the area

Omg I have never been served by such a rude miserable man. I had battered sausage and chips, it was ok, the chips was not as fresh as I would of liked.

Fish excellent. Chips not so. But you are buying the fish.

Very generous portions of chips which is a shame as they were possibly the worst chips we'd ever tried to eat!! Most of them ended in the food bin. Much better to take a drive into Tenby for your chips where there is competition & probably a much higher standard of product.

We arrived on a Saturday night after a long drive and set up with our caravan. The staff were nice and friendly and the menu was the right size for a fish and chip shop. I seemed to be waiting a while, as the ordering system and waiting line are haphazard; a simple numbering system would help. That being said, the cook looked at me and asked what I was waiting for as he thought I'd been there a little too long too, and luckily, he was just boxing up my order. The fish and chips were very good. Just the right amount of grease! 👌

Gone down hill since our last visit.

Beautiful fish but chips are quite bland even with salt and vinegar and it's quite expensive I know we have inflation but usually pay £7-£8 anywhere else but £10 is extortionate I think it's captive audience

Chips were really good but had to wait over half hour for just one bag of chips. Surely the sensible approach would be to complete quick/simple orders as soon as you can instead of making them wait for large orders to be put together?

It's a small chippy in a little village. Don't expect anything fancy but we've eaten from there twice and it we enjoyed it. They cook to order, so you may have to wait when it's busy, but both times we had a large order for 10 people and they got it right. The fish was good. We'd definitely take away from there again.

We regularly get treats from here. Today sadly will be our last time. We ordered fish bites and 2 jumbo sausages to be wrapped separately from the chips. Inside the fish bites box we discovered 2 battered sausages. (The jumbo sausages were wrapped separately) We need to be so cautious of cross contamination as I have a family member with a severe peanut allergy. I was assured that everything is cooked in palm oil. Is it normal/right to cook fish and sausages together? Many people eat fish but not sausages. I no longer have faith with your allergen policy.

Now we all know that there are staff shortages, but the shop had an absolute chaotic system - or rather no system at all. The girl served customer after customer despite the orders not being fulfilled. No numbers were given so the orders for the gathering crowd were called out. For a cash only food outlet, they even ran out of change! The food itself was so so. 50p for a tiny sachet of cheap and nasty ketchup. Not impressed.

Not impressed with attitude of staff member serving very rude and abrupt...chips were very dry and colourless...and be warned...CASH ONLY...but you only find out when you get to the till....

Having a Cafe for many years including frying Chips. I was in area so I thought I would purchase a bag of chips at midday. Friendly service. Clean environment. Sadly the Chips did not meet those highs. As many Chip Shops now sell bland plain whitish in colour Chips of a dry texture. These were the same. What happened to golden brown similar to our favorite Roast Potatoes. We sold brown in colour Chips. We're very popular.

I’m usually a respectful guy that keeps themselves to themselves and never complains about anything. However, on this rare occasion something had to be said. After a long day at the beach, our family were looking for some nice chips to finish a good day in the sun. COMPLETELY RUINED THE DAY. Everyone’s chips were freezing cold, chips not cooked, I suspect they were oven chips, gravy freezing and lumpy and the cheese, well I say cheese, I think it was plastic. Sent the chips back they came back freezing. On the third time I received the chips they were still not warm. I gave up in the end and disposed the chips in the bin were they belong. I strongly recommend to keep away, quite frankly the worst meal I’ve had outside my home.

Quite possibly the worst chippy I’ve ever had, we went there as a family of 7 on the way home from a lovely day out, we usually go to this chip chop but we won’t be returning after our experience. The chips came out freezing cold and we had to ask them to refry them which took over 15 minutes and they didn’t seem impressed. The curry sauce was cold gloop, the chicken balls were also supposed to come with a curry sauce and it took 3 people to ask for it before it came out and it was absolutely freezing cold and in one big lump , had to ask for it to be reheated but at this point I had just given up and wanted to get home. I’m not usually one to moan about food , but this standard was absolutely appalling, they couldn’t even send out cooked hot chips !!

This is the worst fish and chips ever, chips were freezing, we had to send them back 3 times to warm up and still not great. Stay away… had to ask 4 times for curry sauce for our chips and when arrived was freezing. Very disappointing.

Delicious fresh food, but just be prepared for a little wait while they cook it, we waited around 15-20 minutes, but definitely worth the wait.

Best fish and chip shop I've been in for a long time

Disappointing, was expecting everything to be better, 9.50 for chicken curry and chips, only found 5 or six slivers of meat! Very tight!

Called in today Easter Monday service was friendly and the chips were bloody lovely will definitely pop in again when in the area.

The food is amazing. But the woman who was cooking the chips and fish ect was so rude. Yes she was probably run off her feet. Sha had haf a really busy shift. But this is her job and we as customers dont want to hear her moaning about having to cook more chips. Talking to staff really rudely. About what was ordered and what she didnt have left. Was reslly rude to public walking through the door wanting to order food only to be told in a loud agresive way 'we are closed' there is a way to talk to customers and that wasnt the way. I feel sorry for the ones behind the counter too. I would not be there if she talked to me like that. We have been a few times and staff have always been friendly and polite. Maybe a people skills class would help. Dont know if i would go back it was quite embarrassing to wait and see that. What a shame as i said earlier food is amazing.

Hi all.. Myself, my partner and our three children spent the day at folly farm.. Just five minutes down the road from folly farm we stopped at kilgetty fish bar.. This place provided plenty of room to dine in and eat.. We were made very welcome and brilliant customer service.. The food was absolutely delicious and plenty of it aswell.. The kids said this is the nicest chippy they've ever tasted.. We Will definitely stop by here again when passing.. Presentation of the staff and the place itself was immaculate.. I would highly recommend this place.

Very friendly staff at the fish bar. We sat in for our fish and chip supper which was lovely. Nothing was too much trouble they were exceptional in making us feel welcome. Lovely setting to have a meal, which was freshly cooked.

Ordered chips, sausage and gravy and a chicken wrap which cost £9.80. Service was good with a slight wait due to being busy. Food was lovely and I would definitely have it from here again.

Awful place!!! No Pizzas yet advertised, young lad doing his best taking orders but shouted at regularly by man cooking in full view of customers. Chips dry and old , donor meat greasy and almost inedible big order but had to carry to car in rain as no bag offered . Man serving food extremely slow and no manners . Avoid very disappointed .

Didn't enjoy the food we had - fish and chips and sausages. To be fair the sausages were OK, but the chips were pale, soggy and soft. The fish batter was dark, quite hard and quite thick. This is a very busy fish and chip shop, I don't know of any other nearby. Ordering is a little chaotic as it always seems busy. When you arrive it will appear that there are lots of people waiting but no idea who is queuing to be served and who is waiting for their order. Just go straight up to the counter is the best thing to do if there is no obvious queue. Menu seems large but on arrival all that was ready was fish, sausages, fish bites. Limited parking outside but parking at the Coop is only 5 minutes away. Think I'll go further to find another chippie next time.

Four stars because they only take cash..

We were on holiday near Kilgetty and fancied fish and chips since our local chippie (in a seaside holiday town) is, shall we say, not that good. The portions from here were a good size but my fish had too much batter on it and was overcooked so there was not much fish flavour left; my wife said hers was OK. The chips were OK, thank goodness, but be warned the portions are very large indeed. We had a small portion between us and that was more than enough. We found the prices to be very much higher than at home – they must have wealthier visitors than our town does!

The food and staff are all great .until my family and i was looking forward to the special curry on thurs .it was very tastey except for the lack of chicken .so it was very overpriced .we wont be having this again .but all other food is amazing cheers paul.

We're only holidaying in the area so based on our one time visit ..... SUPERB. Chip portion would easily have served 2 people so will form part of tomorrow's fry up. Fish was excellent, all cooked to order.

We ordered chips gravy curry beans fish mince beef pie and two breast of chicken. Oh my god, cut into the chicken and there was blood all over the pate. See photos. Took it back and the fryer said she had used a probe that said it was cooked. What can’t speak can’t lie. She did give a refund but too little to late for me! Avoid at all cost!

Its disappointing writing this review as this has always been our local go to chip shop. Something has changed though and the quality of their chips has gone downhill. We initially thought it was a one off as for a long time they were excellent but it has been on the last four or five times. Its sad but we'll be going somewhere else now.

We visited as a takeaway,We ordered various items off the menu all of which were very well cooked,and cooked fresh to order portions were of a good size (beware of the small whales I.e Large Cod and also the 6 cod bites as they are...

Asked for a meat and vegetarian rissoles one of each. Was only given two meat ones. Didn't realise until we got to the beach. Will try them again as the chips were ok. But one disappointed veggie.

Had fish bites chips Irish curry and a pie wot a waste of £12:75 fish bites were like rubber chips were scrappy and irish curry had a floral tang all thrown out except the pie !!!!!!

Chicken & chips were great.Big roasted chicken leg.very good portion of chips.Chips were great with curry sauce,Chicken was roasted&fresh.Not like the southern fried type sitting there looking for an home all dried out. Great chippy 👍

We've been going there for years, great fish and chips, worth waiting in the long queue for!! Just disappointed that the seating area has gone and they no longer serve breakfast, when we arrive early for our holiday all the family would meet there as it was a lovely breki!

Went on an outing to saundersfoot for the evening and to have some food from the chip shop to eat at the harbour, but to our horror they were all closed or closing,that was 8pm, tried googling for near chip shops and the only one available was in kilgety, I phoned to see what time they closed and it was 9pm, I ordered over phone and made a dash to get there before then, they had already started my order and didn't have to wait long, I wish to thank them and applaud them for doing this for us, they were very friendly and the food was amazing and plenty of it and I think half the price I would have payed in saundersfoot, got back to Tenby and the food was still hot, many thanks to you, you were life savers for all of us especially the grandchildren, I just got to say that at the time there were a lot of staff shortages in saundersfoot but I will be back it's a lovely place.
