Stayed here for one night before getting the ferry to Mull. Perfect to break up the travel, and a delicious meal for dinner. Helpful staff, comfortable large room, was worth the recommendation to head out to the lighthouse in the morning before the ferry, thank you.

We had a fantastic meal here during our holiday, I can thoroughly recommend. We both had the house curry which was delicious, but the menu was very varied with lots of options. Great drinks selection as well in a great pub.

The location is stunning, nestled in a beautiful part of Scotland. The drive is a bit long, with single-track roads for many kilometers, but the journey is well worth it. The natural surroundings are breathtaking. Besides Mingary Castle, this is the only hotel in the village, so there's not much choice. It's a decent place to spend a couple of nights, essentially a pub with rooms. The staff are incredibly friendly. Our room was spacious and clean, but a bit dated and missing some basic conveniences, like having only one plug and no towel hooks in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable, though. Breakfast is a highlight – you pre-order and choose a time the day before, and they prepare it just for you. The food quality is excellent, and the service is friendly and efficient. I enjoyed my visit mainly because of the beautiful nature and the warm staff. However, the room itself felt overpriced for what it offered. Given there's no other option in the village, it's understandable, but it still feels a bit steep.

Don’t judge it by dated decor.. the staff are really helpful and nothing is too much trouble,, they are very attentive all evening.. we ordered pizzas which were really tasty and fresh.. the prices are fair especially for the location… the lady serving even put a sparkler in the dessert and initiated a rendition of Happy Birthday, we had a lovely evening. The background music was definitely our taste and we felt comfortable to return 3 times more on our holiday…. Thankyou

This is an absolutely brilliant hotel / bar. We have just returned from a Grand Tour of Scotland. One of the hotels we stayed in was the Kilchoan House Hotel on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. As soon as we walked in (tired after a 7 hour drive) the manager was really helpful and the rest of the staff couldn’t do enough to help. The room (No. 6) was loverly and very spacious. We had dinner in the hotel. I had the beef pie and my wife had the fish – both were really nice. Oh and top marks must go to the breakfast. Oh one other point – if you have not been there before you have to try the local ale – I did a few times 😊

What a great welcoming place this is after a long journey due to ferry problems. Rooms were comfortable, clean and warm and spacious. The food was tasty and the helpings huge. Best of all was just how downright friendly and welcoming every member of staff is. Nothing was too much trouble and they were great to chat to. This was our second visit in a month and it was a cracking stay each time. It is a real haven at the end of a beautiful but long road.

A perfect location for exploring the Ardnurmurchan Peninsula . Also close to the ferry to Tobermory on Mull if wanting a day out on foot. The staff are welcoming and friendly with the food being good honest home pub food.We had 4 dinners and all were excellent and good value. Very comfortable large room with a lovely view over to Mull . Slightly tired decor but more than made up by all the positives.

We booked to eat out on our last night in Kilchoan and the hotel was nearby. The ambience wasn't the best. The bar area looked very tired and in need of a refresh. We were given a tiny table opposite the dartboard in a very dark area. We could see the practically empty dining room but were told that the tables were all reserved (at 7.45pm). So we accepted a conservatory table (entrance to the hotel). The food was good - a steak cooked as I had asked. Hubby had the salmon - lacking seasoning for him. A table of men also in the conservatory spoiled our experience though. Clearly on a trip and very, very loud with liberal use of foul language. It would have been pretty pointless, I think, to ask for a bit of peace. This was, sadly, very far from our best memory of Kilchoan.

We stayed 4 nights and when we booked in March, we asked for a ground floor room because my wife has mobility problems. I repeated the request by email in June. On arrival we were told that there aren't any ground floor rooms. I think we should have been told that when we booked. We had also asked for a room with a walk in shower. We were given a room on the 2nd floor, a climb of 40 steps so not so good. On the plus side the evening meals were first class and the staff very helpful, friendly and efficient. A good hotel for dogs but not for anyone with mobility issues..

At present this lovely little hotel is not able to accommodate you for food if you are not a resident . Apparently it has been like this for approx 5 weeks . I am only reviewing so you do not make the same mistake I made . Expecting a meal out ,while you are staying in the area. I had also only bought food for approx 4 days ,presuming I would eat out the rest of my stay. Sadly this is not mentioned on website. Perhaps an update would help ....?

The website for this hotel makes it look far better than the reality. Rooms are at best stark, no welcome pack, nothing to explain any services but that’s hardly surprising as they don’t really have any. WiFi was at best intermittent on the night we stayed. Found ghastly, let’s just say chips, chips and chips plus for the stayed home cooked actually read Homeprude cook in sauce. Ran out of lemons, ran out of items on menu, ran out of gin! Staff running around smiling and doing their best in a badly managed dump of a place. We paid for two nights but ran away after one, it was worse than a jail sentence. Customer service... I don’t think they know what it is.

We had the langoustines, not cheap, but you get a generous portion of lots of 'em; the plate looked superb! They had a couple of other specials (not on the app. menu) too which looked excellent. All the deserts seem to be made on the premises. The staff were genuinely personable and helpful. I really can't recommend this place more highly. Whilst they don't have any cask ales on draft there is good selection of Scottish bottled beers and a choice of different local whiskys too - if you don't fancy paying £50 a bottle for the Tobermory or Ardmanurchan distilled Scotch but still want to try!

Considering that chips are a basic staple of Pub Grub very few places seem to make much effort to get them right. So often bought in frozen and with an added coating to try and give a crunchier outside, they need no skill and usually fail to impress. So it was rather nice to have a meal with proper chips ‘like mother used to make’. We have eaten here a few times on our visits to wonderful Ardnamurchan and have always been happy with the service and the food. This time we had the Tuscan Salad and the Beefburger made from local beef - both delicious. Returning on Friday evening for Fish and Chips night you couldn’t fault it. Fresh fish, superb batter, and those chips! Good prices, good ambience, and the added bonus of a group ( banjo, fiddle etc) playing on the back terrace. Love Ardnamurchan, love this pub.

Not the best food we had of late but we have been spoiled (in Mull and nearby Mingary Castle) and it was good enough with friendly and efficient service. While the scenery out in this direction was stunning you really are in the middle of nowhere and unfortunately this stop to eat was not a good one. I ordered the prawns which were small and what little meat I could get out of the shrimps which I had to peel was crumbly and not good. I was still hungry by the time I left. My husband said his steak was horrible. While my son said his pizza was OK I tasted it and I didn't care for it. Stop way before this area to eat if you are heading to the Lighthouse or pack a picnic!

The only thing I could eat on the menu was the salads. But I wasn't disappointed. It was huge with a great mix of salad leaves, tomatoes, cucumber and onion and tuna. The dressing was absolutely gorgeous and i think homemade. I was very full even after a salad. The service was faultless. It is a very limited lunch menu with no specials. That would be my only complaint.

We had fish and chips for the adults and chicken nuggets and chips for our children. Food was tasty but was fairly "standard". What made up for an average meal, was the friendly staff member from South Africa who served us and the restaurant allowed us to bring in our dog (we were seated in the 'front porch' area).

We arrived here after a day at Sanna Bay, popped in for a pint and to share a snack as camping up the road for the night.Staff were nice, not over friendly, I had a scallop starter which were nice but did not require the sauce and were a little sandy. My husband ordered the special ribs starter, couldn't finish them, tough and tasteless. The place looked like a good local, well worn in, but cosy. Maybe on another evening it might have been great, looking at other reviews but not the evening we visited.

Staying in Kilchoan for two days, literally 100m from this hotel. Hadn't booked a table but was offered a table in dining room or in the bar area, sat next to the bar and what an excellent place to sit as staff were passing us every 2 mins so very attentive and made sure our glasses were kept full and plates were cleared quickly, I had pork loin in cream sauce and my wife had scampi. Both dishes were lovely and my wife even managed to squeeze in apple crumble. All in all a very enjoyable night. Probably be back tomorrow !!!!

une adresse à éviter !!! le personnel n'est pas souriant, ambiance tristounette, radio au son très fort dans les oreilles... de plus les plats sont tous frits, importés et congelés ! un service médiocre dans un si beau cadre, quel dommage !

During a recent week-long stay in the area with friends and our dogs, we had two pleasant evening meals at the Kilchoan Hotel. On the first occasion the burgers, lasagne, etc. (i.e the bar menu classics) were all of fine quality and very reasonably priced. A dish we ordered from the restaurant menu, however, was less accomplished; the duck breast, after a fairly long wait, arrived extremely overcooked. Fair play to the staff, however, and especially Ross, the excellent duty manager, who offered another to be made. Given that we didn't have time, he insisted instead on providing free drinks and removed it from the bill. On Friday nights it's fish & chips night. Book in advance if possible, as the whole village descends on the Kilchoan Hotel, and creates a convivial atmosphere! The Kilchoan Hotel is an excellent village pub, with good food, and I would definitely eat here again if in the area.

Ate at this traditional small hotel twice as enjoyed it so much the first time. Lovely welcome and very good service from staff. Friday evening is fish & chip night and the place was packed with locals - not surprising as the quality was excellent. Our dogs were welcomed in the garden room at the front and in the bar (just not in the dining room).

Tasty food with a great view of Lochness. The staff are lovely and they have a good selection of whisky. Good value 3 course meal deal.

Très agréable situation entre 2 ballades, service très prévenant. Des plats typiques, abordables. Le top après une journée de tourisme.

After poor experiences in Oban and Fort William this place restored our faith in a Scottish breakfast and hospitality. Great service, even better breakfast made with quality ingredients.

The Fish and Chip Shop is in our experience is without a doubt the BEST IN CAITHNESS AND SUTHERLAND! The fish was white and flakes. fried in beautiful crispy batter and the chips were perfect. We have experienced other Chip Shops in Wick,Thurso and Helmsdale, plus Mobile Chip Vans in Lybsterand Dunbeath and this has been the best so far too. We travelled around 30 miles to eat here and would do so again. THANK YOU.
