A definitive must-try of North London! One of our favourite places to not only go out with the family, but also to bring anyone that comes and visits. Kervan Southgate is usually our family's go to restaurant for a dinner off occasion. Unfortunately last Saturday I had booked a table in advance and still had to wait an extra half an hour to be seated, not ideal when you are with 2 elderly people and a family of 5. I understand this place is probably at its busiest on the weekend hence the booking. When we were finally seated everything went quite swiftly apart from 3 waiters trying to get us a bottle of sparkling water which we finally got 10 mins after the dinner arrived. When we did get our food (which is normally delicious and well cooked) the lamb shish was very undercooked and chewy, the lamb chops also very undercooked. Chips were very oven chip like and cold. 15 or 20 minutes or so into our dinner whilst eating, all the lights were turned off in our seating area for someone's birthday celebration cake. I'm not a killjoy and I don't begrudge a birthday celebration in a restaurant if that's what you want but the least staff could have done was warn us we would have to eat in the dark for a few minutes. Very inconsiderate and unprofessional. Service was ok from waiters but all seemed a bit stressed with how busy it was. Overall very disappointed as the standards are dropping which is a shame !

Restaurant can get very busy so recommend to book in advance. Can get very loud and hard to hear eachother. Customer service is ways amazing. We go here all the time and never had a bad meal. Food quality is first class.

Don't waste your money. The food was mediocre. The service was sloppy. They seemed very busy however I believe that you should have enough staff to counter this. We had to ask for cutlery for our table as they seemed to have forgotten to add. We also had to ask for garlic and chili sauce for the table which I assumed would be standard for a Turkish restaurant.

Went here for a work leaving do and had a great meal. The staff are always very attentive and aren't shy with the Turkish bread, which I love, plus the dips to go with it. The main course was a 6 person platter of meat rice and bread, delicious. The meat was soft and tender and tasted so good. Would definitely be coming back for more!

We absolutely loved it here! Me and my family came for breakfast and we were 15 people (3 children). We ordered two breakfast platters and each were meant for 4 people so both were for 8 people, but they filled us up! The servers were so nice and catering to all our needs. The food was cooked deliciously and everything was juicy and lovely. Our whole family really enjoyed the atmosphere, the food and servers. Thank you!

The Kofta kebab is disgusting!! It has a horrid meat smell. Apparently they dowsed it with lamb fat, not sure why. So all I can taste is horrible meat smell from fatty lamb on a chicken kofta. Shame as they used to be really good. Gone downhill now and more expensive.

A marvellous place to have an amazing breakfast with our dear friends from Asia. Excellent food and service and ample space, so it never feels crowded. Revision Xmas 2023. We had our Christmas lunch here. We can't fault any part of our experience. Fab service, excellent food and plenty of it, and a lovely atmosphere. Well done all, and thanks.

Fresh, juicy, and authentic kebabs. The platters are the best. Feeds 3 to 4 people with rice and blugar.

I have been a loyal customer of Kervan Southgate since it opened and long before I went to Kervan Edmonton and Wood Green. the reason is simple: the quality you find here is never about food only. Its the whole pack. Pristine cleanliness, the tastiest and healthiest food and the best ever service (stuff) that I have never encountered elsewhere. Our full satisfaction is definitely a priority fir the management of Kervan resraurants. You will always leave this place with a big smile . you are the best Kervan. Please dont change anything.

The menu was extensive and the restaurant was big. It's big enough to accommodate large groups. The food was delicious, I would definitely go back to try more on the menu. The service was efficient and we were not rushed at all even though we all took our time.

I've been to this restaurant three times, once before the pandemic just to attend a party, by the way I didn't have anything to eat. The following two occasions with a friend for a meal. Both times I found the food to be sub standard. Usually upon the first visit and being unhappy I usually learn my lession, but the debate with my friend made me people please for her to win and attend.😔 I had the the filet 2xSea Bass, the Bulgar wheat was just above worm,🙄 the veg, lol was like I did it at home, and just slapped it on the plate. Tastes wise nah! The tall waiter who took our payment probably didn't know how to use a calculator to split the bill equally or he was just lazy. But for my hard earn money I think it's best I never go back.. I like value for my money. 💰💵

This place is our favourite one for Turkish food, we love the concept and setup of this place, the food is just so tasty. We love this place and we travel all the way from Harrow to have food here. The service here is very good, we will definitely recommend this place. A big very thank you to Robin for taking care of us and providing such a nice service.

Pre-cooked cold breakfast was served. Wood Green Branch offers better food quality

Had a delightful experience at this Turkish restaurant! The mixed family platter was a perfect assortment, complemented by the complimentary bread, salad, and dips. The only hiccup was the overly sweet espresso martini, oddly served with a straw. Nevertheless, the warm and friendly staff went above and beyond to meet expectations. Highly recommend for a satisfying Turkish culinary journey!

we went for breakfast, we had a Turkish breakfast (serpme) First, I would like to start with the hair on the cheese plater. I called the waiter, and he said, "Let me change it he went inside the kitchen and came back straight away!!! with the same plate.... Second, the vegetable plate ( grilled aubergine, potatoes, mushrooms, and pepper's) was served cold probably prepared in the morning and again we called the waiter because non of the waiters came to us and checked how we are doing and we asked him are we supposed to have them cold or there is a mistake and he took the plate to the kitchen and came back with with not too hot vegetables sadly heated in microwave.... what a shame, horrible experience p.s. I asked the waiter if the breakfast came with turkish tea (çay) and he said yes and went. I paid the bill, and I realised I've been charged for two turkish teas... one thing is for sure we will never go there for breakfast again

I went there 2 days ago with myself. I was wearing a mask. Asked for a table for one and gave my order. The lady behind my table called for a waitress and asked her why I was wearing a mask? And waitress said "She is sick!?". Not even she might be, she said she IS! What a rude customer and a rude waitress. They did not think that I am Turkish because they were speaking Turkish. The lady even made a disgusting face when she heard that I was sick?! About food, I could not finish it and packed it. Came home, my husband eat the rest and he found a sharp piece of bone inside!! The meal that I ordered was Lamb Sarma or Beyti. So disappointed. Never recommend. There are better Turkish restaurants out there folks!

They serve authentic Turkish food and we generally liked everything we ordered :) The Lahmacun could have more lamb mince as toppings and thinner in crust. The complementary “appetiser” they serve for every table was a big bowl of salad, a basket of pita bread and hummus. They were all very delicious 🤤 Iskender lamb was my favourite of all time and the lamb shisha was also tender and juicy. All the food came in large portion even the starter🤣

We ordered 3 plates of mixed meat mezze plus salad and dips for starters, and it was all good. The service was friendly and attentive, so no complaints here. Would definitely recommend this place for family get-togethers.

I cannot how much the quality of the food has gone to the dogs. They used to serve up real top quality authentic food, now they have dropped the quality, taken away the traditional presentation & on top of all that, they give zero value for money, very expensive. So many Turkish restaurants in north London that offer tasty food at the right price.

10 out of 10. The food, the service and the atmosphere were all amazing. Can't fault this place one bit.

The food was tasty but was delivered to us luke warm, which means it was prepared and left waiting on the counter for the staff to bring to our table. In other restaurants they bring the food as soon as cooked sizzling hot, so some improvements needed here. They gave us the bill for another table and lucky we checked as usually you just pay, the payment staff was also good that he spotted this mistake. Atmosphere is good, they were busy even at 11pm.

Used to be reasonable price, but very expensive for what it is. 21 quid for a chicken shish is a lot. Drinks are expensive. Food was nice but things like portions of rice getting smaller

Superb Turkish food. Dogs not allowed anywhere indoors which is a pity just outside so ok for summer if you need a doggy friendly place.

30-40 min drive. Totally worth it. Friendly staff, excellent tasty food. Unfortunately today due to electric/gas fault on the street was not able to get their special. 😥. Hope the fault gets fixed quickly and today. 🤞

Just been back after quite a long time, have to say that although the food is still as good, the prices have gone up a lot !! I know after the whole Covid thing, restaurants need to recover ,but wow !! What used to be a very reasonable place to eat is now very expensive, Efes draught is now £ 6.90 which Is ridiculous, the whole meal for four of us came to just under £150.00 but this seems the norm now, no wonder we are choosing to eat at home more and more instead

Got the big platter. Was decent but not spectacular. Lamb chops were bangin but not enough of them. Decent for a group booking.

The doner tastes like dog food. Shame as its such a nice spot. This is the Southgate branch. Its been like that year after year. Made me ill

Went there for lunch. Service is attentive, sitting outside was not great as it is quite noisy and there are many people smoking during lunch. Food is quite nice and well prepared but prices are on the high side.

We drive an hour to enjoy the delicious food, every time we go the service and food are amazing so I recommend to lovely readers to go BUT I hope the manager arranges some timetablle to regularly check the toilet, the toilet wasnt up to the standard as the restaurant it self , also as a restaurant owner you should know that the toilet represents the standard of the restaurant, even there was web on the toilet’s up corner wall.

I would highly recommend this place for Turkish breakfast! Although every time we visit, they have increased the price! The breakfast is amazing! Also, the quality and the taste of the food are excellent! I believe it is slightly overpriced, but worth trying at least once!

Excellent service, we had really nice waiter. Ordered 3 starters on top we got hummus, cajuk salad and bread. Mains are very big portions.

Nice place for having a group breakfast. Their food tray and portion was smaller than our expectations. However we enjoyed with great Turkish tea. We had extra sweets and tea. So we had to pay more than a simple breakfast.

Huge quantity of food for the Turkish breakfast, and plenty without carbs, if you are avoiding them. Friendly and efficient service. Prices feel a bit less competitive recently.

Wanted to register my disappointment that they ignored the note on the order "no bulgar please only rice" and gave us bulgar with everything. Problematic for one of our party who needs to avoid bulgar. Poor that such a clear note ignored, which detracted.from everyone's enjoyment.

All I can say is that the food was awful, completely tasteless, and the staff were unfriendly. My food tasted like they had just opened a tin and served the contents. Also, on the table next to us a man was smoking, albeit the window was open. This can incur a £2,500 fine under the Health Act 2006.

Had a Turkish breakfast platter here. Breakfast for two was so big we had to take some home. Cost around £33. Really enjoyed the breakfast. staff were very attentive, professional and polite. Will be coming back for more. Parking is not great but Asda is a minutes walk which you can park for 3 hours free of charge.

12yrs on this place is still great value, lovely food and attentive staff. Complimentary sundries and Turkish tea are a lovely round off to a memorable experience.

Really enjoyed the Turkish Breakfast (Brunch really) but they serve "breakfast" until 4pm which is nice and includes so much. There were 6 of us and we finished just over half of what was on the table including eggs and pastrami and sujuk (turkish sausage) and cheeses and menamen (which was the only downside). Menemen had way too much tomato and not enough egg, was the only thing we didn't take away the leftovers of. Overall, ambience was great and was a overly day to sit outside, food was good, service good and would definitely recommend. Spent longer than the 3 hours allowed at ASDA carpark, and I'm hoping I don't find a ticket through my letterbox in the next week or so. Don't make my mistake!!

I've tried many Turkish food places in North London and this has got to be my favourite so far. Food is just on point, isn't too manic if you go during the weekdays and the atomosphere and staff do a decent job. There's free parking for three hours in Asda across the road which is great because the streets around it don't have any. Have been three times so far and will be going again.

The service here is very poor, started off ok, then the server changed. I do Not recommend the lamb tagine, it was cold and fatty and full of bones 🤢 Did not eat it. We all (6 of us) ordered soft drinks at £3.60 per bottle that’s over £21.00 for 6 drinks ( coke and sprite) SHOCKING!! Some had 1 lump of ice some had none, asked for more ice for each person, half a glass came, 1 cube each Well they didn’t last long, we then asked for jugs of water for the table, we got one jug no ice, we had staters , mains and dessert, so water did not last long, again asked for more water 2 jugs and was told we have no jugs left, so we all said we will have it in a glass, we told we have no glasses! So we all held up our glasses to give to the server, she said WE HAVE NO WATER!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Let the challenge begin! So lady, if I ordered a alcoholic drink how would you serve it to me, shall I just pop my head under the optics or drink from the beer tap? Will you serve me a soft drink or shall I drink from the bottle 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ PLEASE!! absolute insult! Your sharing platters are now a lot to be desired, all bone and bread placed round the platter, was never there before,food 4 pieces of Shish chicken between 4 that was the platter extra!! £90 and your food is cold, especially the rice. Banoffee pie? NO! Was cheese cake 🤢 Tirimasu so dry 🤦‍♀️ The ice cream was good, plus the mint tea! Please NOBODY NEEDS OR WANTS blueberries in or around there dessert, STRAWBERRIES 🍓 I get blueberries 🫐 NOOOOOO!!! Your food was always a favourite with the family and extended friends Sort it out kervan, before you loose a lot more customers Plus you have the audacity to charge over £20 service charge, what a JOKE!!

The food was good, I went during Eid and had a good time. Staff were accommodating even when it was very busy.

Food gave me poisoning and the worst service even after complaining several times they dismissed my concerns and belittled me don’t advise her again
