The staff were unfriendly and spelled like last nights alcohol. As I was waiting on food the language out of these women's mouth was terrible. Not professional. The food was over cooked almost burnt.

Great menu and food and the owners have a great reputation in the local community. My relatives went in with their sick girl and when they went to pay the owners wouldn’t let them pay, they also do great work for the homeless and special needs schools. Well done Kelstar more than just our local chippy

Had a good night out with the sons friends from England we went to the kelstar because in the past it has been great food and easy on the pockets, especially as I am paying.

This restaurant is a wee gem. Well priced and great food. Lunch menu is value for money. Staff are excellent and make you feel and home. Great family run business that holds the community at heart.

Most Definitely the best Family eating establishment in Andersonstown .Food is Reasonably Priced and caters for everyone's needs and also does take aways

Had heard good reports about this place but never ordered so thought we would order meal deal, very disappointed chips where hard like they had been reheated and pizza wasn't much better will Defo be sticking to what I know with my local chippy/pizzerias

Casi se cayó. literalmente de mi silla. . . . absolutamente precioso. . Pensé que era el. más increíbles de pollo al curry, steamin chisporroteantes en un calientaplatos. . Tuve nada más que cumplidos 4 personal un servicio en kelstar. La comida es wat u madera xpect desde un "fish and chips"/diner. Es bastante decente, pero en serio, quien está haciendo los huevos fritos o watever necesidades capacitándose. Yo no tiene todo el mundo allí propias preferencias pero al menos fry adecuadamente.

Heard ppl say this place was nice so thought hive it a try got txt saying food on way took another 90 min too arrive ok was hot as first thing checked but chips was like cardboard and other food was not that nice

He sido cliente de Kelstar con madre madre durante años. Hoy fuimos y pedí un perrito caliente. Mi madre nos dieron un pequeño fry. La camarera tomó nuestra orden, pero para ser honesto no era demasiado agradable al tomar la orden. Vi un enorme perro caliente viniendo hacia mi mesa. Me dijo una camarera diferente que trajo este había pedido una pequeña. Le dije que siempre tendrás el pequeño bap con salchichas en rodajas en medio. Entonces ella desapareció y la otra camarera bajaron en un strop! Entonces ella dijo que no pequeño perritos calientes. Me dijo mi madre y yo normalmente cada vez que están en un pequeño panecillo con salchichas cortadas por la mitad - entonces ella dice que es una "salchicha" no un perro panecillo caliente. Me dijo que sin duda no es la misma cosa, y subrayé la pequeña cuando ordenes y fue presentada con un pie largo perro caliente. Debido a problemas de estómago (que expliqué) no puede comer este tipo de baguette y nunca lo pedido esto. Entonces ella procedió de acuerdo encogida de hombros y bajar. No podía comer el perro caliente y nadie vino cerca de nosotros! El perro caliente fue dejado de estar. Entonces fui a pagar y les pedí que envuelva el perro caliente para tomar para dar a alguien en casa. He dicho a la cajera que había sido un cliente por años y nunca he tenido tan mal servicio y actitud. Ella dijo que me diga el jefe. En ningún momento me ofrecen darme lo que yo quería ni disculpas ni ofrecen un descuento en la factura. Muy insatisfecho con el servicio! La última vez que estuvimos en nos dijo a nosotros mismos el personal no era muy agradable y no la atención habitual y decidí darle otra oportunidad y cosas este servicio pobre hoy. Sin duda no volveremos - el personal debería tener en cuenta que el servicio de atención al cliente es clave en el sector de la hospitalidad.

Great fish and Chip shop with a huge variety of options I actually prefer their southern fried chicken! Fantastic

Ordered a hawaiian pizza from here through just eat and it tasted brilliant! Very nice base compared to some other pizza shops I been to, The chips were average though and nothing stood out about them, hence why this review isn't a 5 star.

Popped in to break our shopping trip in West Belfast. A delightful lunch of fish and chips for the daughter and burger and chips for me. Huge portions and served with tea, bread and butter. Great staff who seemed to enjoy serving the public

Very filling and the deals are very good especially if you want to feed your family for not as much as other places in the area do it. Pizzas are the highlight of the show personally, cheesy and great toppings.

I visited here recently and was disappointed that the first thing they did was put two copies of the Andersonstown News along with two pens on the table and told us that we were to vote for them in the - this was before we were given a menu and in spite of the fact that one of us had a broken arm in plaster. I asked if they would serve a child's portion for my elderly mum and was told that childrens' portions were for under 14's only but they would do a small portion of fish goujons - this they did but charged the full price. Food was just about average served on a cold plate and pricing was much higher than that of other similar establishments. I think i'll stick with Long's in future - for pleasant service, high quality food and reasonable prices

Friday used to be fish night down to the local Chippie carry out fish chips the odd pastie home for your Mummy's bread and butter big mug of tea and if you were lucky your Daddy give you your pay. Well those fond memories are still alive the atmosphere food and service at the Kelstar on the Andy Town Rd have it all. The Kelly brothers and their staff are friendly and inviting they know how to treat a customer a comfortable lay out with lots of room good table space and leg room make you feel at home. With a great mix of customers teenagers families large and small young couples getting a wee break older couples out for an early night grannies and grandpas with the new generation just like a family party real neighbourly. The boss and me took the two grandsons in last night Friday around 7pm good crowd in both the carry out and sit in but that's not a problem the staff had a welcome for us from Ciaran and Damian on the counter to the girls on the floor. Seated in our favourite spot drinks and menu in extra quick time and the debate begins. The menu is extensive with lots of variety from plain chips to the exotic Mexican tortilla or Philly steak. They even have a pizzeria upstairs serving 7" to a whopping 26" pizza with all the toppings you can dream up. Pepperoni pizza for the boss and Jack a more considered pastie in a bap with curry sauce and chips for Joseph and a Kelstar special supper for me. Beautifully flakey cod in a soft slightly crispy batter golden brown thick cut chips mushy peas and curry on the side tea bread and butter oh and a glass of ice cold Fanta. Now that's a feed with no complaints we tuck in and the craic begins just like at your own table at home the food is good the surroundings comfortable the company just the way you like it. The staff attentive but not annoying the portions ample and an important factor in the pizza department a box to take home what you can't eat. I fully recommend the Kelstar can't really find fault give this gem a try meet the Kelly family a tradition in the Fish and Chip business you won't be disappointed.

Not the first time I've eaten here but the most recent and still got the same great food and friendly service as the first visit,would recommend to everyone.I've had breakfasts and dinners there mouth watering everytime.

Popped into the kelstar to treat myself to a fry... it was really tasty, served with a pot of tea and very good value. Really nice service and the toilets were spotless. Great local business

Get the fish and chips regularly and am never disappointed. Have also had the burgers, sliced southern fried chicken and chips with curry sauce and the pizza. All delicious. Great service too.

This place caters for all types of people, the old to the young. They listen to you when you order and cater for your needs. The staff are absolutely lovely, so friendly yet professional. The place is always clean and has a nice atmosphere about it. The food is delicious too, freshly made to order. They are very reasonably priced and if anything they probably could go a bit higher as the portions are huge. I can't say enough good things about this place or the staff, I recommend a visit.

On a visit to Belfast,ate at the kelstar...what a find.staff are inviting and friendly,menu is varied tasty and excellent value for money( 2courses offer for £6:45)no centrally located but definitely worth a taxi ride or bus trip out to area!

My wife and I called in to the Kelstar after we had been shopping for some lunch we waited a few moments to be seated and our order was taken quite quickly as the food is freshly cooked it naturally took a little while to be served we got generous portions and thought it was great value for money. service was good as were very friendly staff and place was clean and tidy. We will be back again .

Cheap cafe. Cheap food. Everything about this place lacks any class whatsoever. Awful fried food. No vegetarian, gluten free or vegan options

Just popped in as we couldn't be bothered cooking ,great service and really good pizza. It was a boy chilli inside so we kept out coats on but this was not really a big deal as where where not waiting long on food and it was lovely when arrived .

We orderd at 9 o clock and our food didn't arrive on till 1045 we were really Hungary pizza and chips were cold so I sent it bk I felt sorry 4 the delivery man wasn't his fault it's clearly that the Chippy was to bizzy and not enough staff I decided to give kelstar another chance and order again I wouldn't go bk thir is to many other chipies in Anderstown so wise up kelstar.

Myself and my Husband Visited Kelstar tonight I'd been before but Husband's first visit... I had pizza which was delicious and my husband had the burger, which he described as the best burger he has ever had. Generous portions and Great value for money. Very friendly customer service and clean and tidy Hot Food Bar. We will be back again very soon.

Went for a treat night with our young nephews. The food was great but the service was excellent. One of the kids mistook the sugar for salt and put it on his dinner. The waitress was really lovely about it and offered to replace the meal straight away. Highly reccommend

This is a really busy cafe and takeaway - probably the best on the road! The fish in particular is fantastic - fresh, big in quantity and excellent value. The jumbo cod does two peoplePizzas are also really good and a very popular takeaway or home delivery - delivery drivers are kept busy. Be prepared to wait if calling in person to order and takeaway but it is worth it. It also has a thriving cafe which is busy all day.

Ordered cod and chips and nearly fainted at the size of the fish! It was literally hanging off the plate. Chips were home made and well cooked. Fabulous meal butbig enough for two people!!

Visited with my son and granddaughter following swim in leisure before we made long drive to Dublin to deliver swaid 2 year old home. My son mistakenly ordered the biggest breakfast fry I have ever seen but he did it justice lol I had the healthy option the staff our brilliant nothing to much trouble . I go in few times. Week for coffe wil definitely be back for more food

On a trip form Canada to Belfast in September we visited Kelstar on a very cold blustery Belfast night. Had been visiting a family member is hospital that evening and didn't get to have dinner. We went to Kelstar at almost closing time and just wanted something warm and comforting. We had the homemade vegetable soup with a crusty roll. I have to say it was absolutely delicious and just what the doctor ordered! I couldn't get over how good the soup was and the closest to my own mother's recipe that I have ever tasted. Thick, hot, and tasty. Full of vegetables (and loads of barley - my favourite!). The crusty roll was also one of the best, freshest I've ever tasted'. Staff was exceptionally friendly and accommodating! SO NICE!!!We also had the take-out Belfast Fry breakfast the next morning. Also absolutely delicious! Incredible value for the portion size and the taste (which is obviously more important).Would definitely recommend a visit here. You wont be disappointed!

Just picked up a collection and once again order is wrong. No cheese on cheese burgers and sliced chicken on chips is just a carton full of sauce the smallest amount of chips disgrace for the price.

Always great food served here. Pizzas are also delicious! Staff are very friendly. I would definatley reccomend to friends and family.

Had the breakfast fry and everything was nicely cooked except for the egg which was over-cooked and the totally rotten "boiled" mushrooms.

Been going to the Kelstar since School La Salle and always a great place to stop whether it be for a hangover cure breakfast or a midday snack to a night time meal after a few beers. Nom Nom.

Phoned the kelstar today looking for a sandwich platter for a wake. The staff were very helpful and friendly and I got talking to the management a really nice guy called ciaran who give me his own personal mobile number to contact him if I needed anything else. Absolutely with out a doubt fantastic service and fantastic food xxx

Had taco breads from the pizzeria on sunday 7 sept 2014. Lack of taco sauce and cheese, and some chicken was black in colour. Poor performance from an avid taco bread fan.

Lovely well made full Irish breakfast, great menu, staff very friendly, as soon as I sat down I was served and asked if I'd like a newspaper while I waited :-) very clean and tidy, I would recommend this place if you are in the area of Andersonstown.

Great choice of sit in and takeaway and delivery menus. Deliverys are always very prompt and food piping hot deffo worth a try go on u will love it

We went in with the intention of getting their fab fish and chips, but when we seen the pizzas we changed are minds. We had 1 portion of their franks red hot wings w/ blue cheese dip and their mighty meaty pizza along with a couple of drinks and some free dips. All for less than£20. I have to also state that their toilets are the cleanest I have ever seen. Very impressedWaitress was on her own but very friendly and couldn't do enough. Will def be back

Evetytime I order food for home delivery something is missing or totally wrong, they never delivery drinks I have ordered or they dont give the right size eg:1•5 litre when orderedThe other night driver gave me 750ml bottle of coke instead of 1•5 that I ordered he said I will go back to shopWhen he came back with the 1•5 litre he said whoever placed the order on the phone didnt state it was 1•5 litre I said well someone is lying as it wasnt ordered by phone it was ordered on niftynosh so dont try and blame it on me

Go here regularly. Their lasagne is amazing def one of the best I've had. I usually go for their healthy breakfast, super tasty and I just love their coffee. Staff very friendly, been served by a young wee girl the past few Sundays, I'm sure she must be the owner's daughter?? very pleasant and is def on the right road to offering customer satisfaction!! The only down side is sometimes the music very loud. However, I must admit I go there almost on weekly basis so I'll de be back...!!

After hearing cafe Kelstar had been awarded for its fish and chips, I thought we would have to give it a try. When we went in the place was impeccably clean and staff were very inviting and friendly. When we got our fish and chips the presentation was fab and the definitely were the best fish and chips that I have EVER tasted. Great value. I'll def be back

I had to arrange an impromptu birthday tea for my little brother. Being a 6 year old he wanted nothing more than burger and chips so we decided to eat somewhere locally. My mum had heard good things about Kelstar so we turned up with no booking. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, and the waitress had a smile on her face the whole time despite the many annoyances of getting an order from a large family like us. (Being a waitress myself I can tell you it can be exasperating) The one thing that struck me the most was the value. I had the cod supper with the classic mush peas side, curry dip and white bread for a chip buddy, and it was only £5.95. It was massive and delicious, the chips were perfect and the batter nice and crispy.My little brother got from the kids menu, and he got his burger and chips with a little ice cream at the end. At a price of £3.50 the portion size was huge and it was such good value. All together the meal was just under £50 and we had a load of drinks and sides. Would definitely return for a cod supper and a cup of tea.

Tried ordering a pizza at 1.30pm last Sunday, was told they do not take pizza orders before 4.30pm. Not a way to make money in west Belfast, too easy to go somewhere else and not come back. Poor. Not everyone wants a fry on Sundays!

My wife and I went here for breakfast the other day (not my first time - I'd been a few years ago and have had takeaway breakfasts a couple of times recently). Service was prompt and friendly, and the waitress gave me a free coffee top up (which isn't that common in Belfast cafes). The vegetable roll was very good quality, as was the bacon. Okay, it is far from haute cuisine and I'm sure you can get cheaper fry-ups, but the Kelstar deserves its evident popularity.
