Ke Sushi in Richmond upon Thames

First time I've been to a Japanese restaurant in England with Japanese people serving and preparing instead of Koreans. After living in Japan for 16 months can say this really captures the subtle essence of Japan! The Ikura was exceptional. [ Salmon roe ]. The Maguro was not dyed red. [ Tuna ]. The Tamago was not dry. [ Egg ]. Domo arigato gozaimasu.

Great place to have traditional sushi. The fish was fresh and everything was really tasty. I recommend trying it out!!

An excellent head chef who was surely trained in Japan. And such good value for lunch. Negative reviews should be ignored. My wife is Japanese and she agrees with me.

Came here with my family and it looked empty at dinner time . The sashimi were dry looking and the scallop had a very weird texture . Sushi didn’t rolled properly . Deep fry items were good . But overall not great food. Service was good . Shame

I’ve had dinner here three times this week… (stuck in the Travelodge up the road)… Great food, great service. The drinks cooler cabinet rattles a little, but I didn’t notice it when there were some other diners around me. Anyway, Ke Sushi personnel are very friendly and efficient, and I encourage you all to come and enjoy, asap. 👍👍👍

I booked a 12 person table , which was confirmed, and when I arrived they said no. Very sad about this — very disappointed — we were left high and dry.

An authentic Japanese experience. Great food at good prices and generous portion size. Service was very quick. I had chicken katsu curry, with miso soup and green tea. It came to £9.50 to eat in, which seems like a very good price these days.

Local favourite. Incredibly fresh fish, the sushi rice tastes amazing, no need for adding wasabi and soy (though you are provided a generous amount to use at your discretion) as the chef applies just the right amount to each piece of sushi to achieve that perfect umami taste👌

Absolutely delicious! I got the chicken broth with udon noodles which was SO tasty. Noodles and veg were al dente too! 👍 I also got the Sake temaki which was really yummy too and tasted very fresh. I wish I lived in the area as I’d be back all the time!

This small, family run place is the antithesis of a certain chain of sushi restaurants in that the food is made to order, right in front of you. The chef is Japanese and, although a bit shy, he is obviously pleased to see you. The real tip off that it's good is that it is often full of Japanese people (more than the aforemantioned chain can say), that there's no non-Japanese food on the menu and there are photos of the dishes to aid selection, as is dine in Japan. Freshly made, beutifully presented food in a homely, unpretentious setting.

I have visited Ke Sushi many times with my family, and we all really love this Japanese restaurant. The menu is interesting and varied, and there is always plenty of fresh fish available, as well as Japanese beer on tap, and sake.

I will always support Ke Sushi against all their competitors in the neighbourhood specifically from Waitrose nearby. The Nigiri sushi are expertly cut at the bar. The set lunch menu is competitively priced with a wide choice. Polite service .

Fantastic little place. With fresh tasting sushi and quick service. Huge menu with everything up to standard. The lunch time menu is a bargain for this kind of quality.

Variety of sushi is available. Underground floor is comfortable for a little party of 10-15 guys. Soba sauce was very salty, looks it wasn’t diluted.

Would recommend Ke sushi for those who wanted to go umi but couldn’t get a table like me. I definitely enjoyed the meal but there’s still room for improvements: -karaage was very nicely done, crispy skin with tender, juicy chicken, but each piece was HUGE lol I’m used to smaller pieces but I suppose it’s just my preference. It did came quite late at the end of the meal - sushi were nice and fresh although I think they might have put a little too much sushi vinegar in the rice and therefore all the sushi were too sour for my liking but still tolerable - The tempura was definitely my least favourite and don’t recommend it as the batter was thick and also greasy which shouldn’t be the case. - Unami rice was okay but it’s a little too sweet.

Lovely local Japanese restaurant, run by a Japanese family. There aren't many spaces inside, but that's so the chefs can make authentic Japanese food in a timely manner. Prices are a bit expensive, but then again so is every restaurant in Twickenham. If you're looking for a authentic Japanese food locally, then this is the place I'd recommend.

We have eaten in quite a few of Twickenham's restaurants and had some great food, but I think this has to be the best and certainly one of the best Japanese restaurants outside of Central London. Service is friendly and the dishes are brought out quickly and made with care. The menu offers not only sushi but a large range of authentic starters along with some noodle and bento box dishes. We decided to order several smaller dishes and a few sushi so that we could sample more of the menu. The octopus legs with seaweed were on par with those I've had in Japan, the chicken karage (lightly fried chicken) was superb and tender, the lightly fried tofu in broth was delicate and tasty and all of the sushi dishes were fresh and very very good indeed. To top it off, the pricing is very reasonable for the high level of quality. Will certainly return to try more. Highly recommended

Visited for the very first time for a quick lunch and I must admit that the service was excellent and the food was delicious! I've ordered a bento box with chicken and sashimi and honestly, it tasted amazing. I really like this restaurant and the fact that it's not a chain makes it even more special. I shall be back for more, perhaps in the evening so that way I can take my time and try other things on the menu.

A first visit since lockdown was lifted and we should have gone sooner. It was as excellent as it has always been and the lunch menus are a bargain. One thing is that it could be neater inside. The walls and decor could do with a quick lick of paint. But top marks on the food.

A brilliant visit to an authentic Japanese restaurant. Fresh sashimi and a wide variety of dishes, including nasu dengaku and natto hoso maki. Food that made my whole family happy. If you want Japanese food prepared by a master Japanese chef, then I highly recommend going to Ke Sushi.

Extremely great food for a good price

The sushi is not the best it could be, but the agadashi tofu, soba noodles and tempura were the closest I've been to Japan since moving back to London. A gem.

I have eaten here many times over the years and after trying many sushi places across london this has to be the best one! Their prices are excellent, they have more variety than most and everything tastes amazing, you can tell its fresh! I would definitley recommend this! 10/10 :)

Edit: 3 years later, exploring so many other restaurants in London, Ke sushi by far has the best sushi, the freshest sushi, the tastiest sushi and the best prices. If you are on a budget, pop in for lunch. Ifyou want to get more posh stuff pop in for dinner. 3 years ago: Best sushi place i have ever been. Very cosy, friendly. Good to see Ke is back, selling takeaway from the door. Order online and go there to collect. Just had an excellent lunch: a Donburi with a couple of side dishes. Everything is always fresh, including the rice, which hasn't been sitting around. As I always say with Japanese places, you should try the unusual stuff; not just the sushi. Of course, unusual is relative, it's very "normal" compared to some of the food I've tried in Japan.

Fast service, good sushi and big portions for the price you pay for the katsu curry, good value!

My son and I wandered into Ke Sushi looking for a quick bite to eat following an afternoon at the rugby. We noticed immediately that it was authentically Japanese - the menu was written in English and correct Japanese characters. Most importantly, there are no non-Japanese items on the menu. The quality of the food is excellent. The slicing of my sashimi was a bit rustic but it tasted superb - especially the fatty tuna. Mixed tempura was also done really expertly (although I did have to ask the waitress for the grated mooli which would normally be served with the accompanying dip). My son's cold soba noodles also had him praising their preparation. All finished off with a couple of flasks of hot sake. Really very good and well worth a visit.

Great Japanese restaurant. People are lovely, family run, food is fresh, served promptly and delicious. Ordered a whole bunch of side dishes as starters and three mains, couple of beers each for 60 quid. Will always go back whenever in Twickenham.

My daughter and I love their food. She is completely addicted to the chicken katsu curry. I enjoy the gyoza We have eaten at this place for years. The staff is super friendly and the place is simple but with a great vibe. The miso soup is always a must.

We have been visiting Ke Sushi since it was recommended to us four years ago and haven’t looked back. The food is always superb. It’s a small restaurant but you can reserve tables, although we have never needed to. They also do take away but you need to collect. The service is also very good. I highly recommend the bento boxes and Chicken Katsu!

This is our local Japanese spot and we like it. Great deals for lunch if you are in the area but this time we had dinner. Simple and small, you get a nice set of Japanese options, and easy-going service. As I'm a local they are always very welcoming.
