The food is delicious here. Had a fishermans soup and a biryani, tasty and filling.

I ordered a takeaway for collection. Everything tastes amazing (and I say this as someone with lots of experience with very good Indian food - North and South). Portions are generous - I had the masala dosa, spinach and lentil dish and puris. My only issue is - it tastes so good you want to keep in eating well past being full! I'll definitely be coming back if I'm in Leicester again.

I've eaten here several times over the years with small and large groups and it's always fantastic. Food is tasty, service is excellent, and it's always busy. Excellent vegetarian options. Toilets not very accessible. Booking highly recommended.

Went during Christmas week and was quite excited to try something different. The waiter was ok but a little pushy. I ordered the chicken stew which to be honest was very bland and the chicken was really dry. I didn't say at the time as time was getting on. The only good thing was a good selection of drinks. I won't be going back

Very rude put the phone down wouldn't let me order over the phone wanted me to order through uber but I don't want to I want to come and collect I walked into the shop to order but he couldn't addmit he put the phone down and apologised I never shouted or disrespected nobody at any point so for the pure fact he was rude to me I will never return I was shocked as I'd been going there for years feast of India is better their customer service is brilliant and food

They fitted me (solo diner) in at short notice on what was obviously going to be a busy Friday night for them. I can see why it’s popular as the food was excellent, service friendly, welcoming and efficient. I had the thali as that gave me a selection of small portions of 7 curries, plus large portion of rice and a soft bread. Needless to say it was a lot of food but too delicious to leave any. I think, to show restraint, that I left about a quarter of the bread! Next time I’d like to try the dosa or a seafood curry as more of a keralan speciality.

I agree with most of the comments that the food is so great here, but the wait time is not that long for us considering that we went in as a group of 7. However, I find that there’s a reverse effect of being too good: the portion. The dish was too big. We ordered different dishes: seafood, fish, crab, different rices and nans. They were all delectable but after a while we had to force ourselves to finish them as we hate to create food waste. I won’t come back anytime soon, not until I’m really starving.

Really superb Keralan food- the taste is superb. Lots of choice, I want to have every dish on the menu! It is a little pricey, I guess these days places have to be to survive. I wouldn’t come here with the lads after six pints, it’s not that kind of place- it’s for the curry connoisseur who knows how good Indian food can be.

Loved the food! Authentic Kerala food, we went for a friends birthday party and we ordered chicken biriyani and seafood biriyani. Both were worth the price and loved the service and ambience. Lobo and Adithya served us, they vere very friendly ✨

Wanted to try somewhere I'd not been before. This place has a really nice atmosphere, the food choices were different to the normal type of Indian restaurants but was very nice overall. I gave 4 stars for food as I've had better papdoms and there wasn't a choice naan bread. The rice and chicken were different to what im used to but I loved them both and would have again.

Best place to have Kerala cuisine in Leicester city

I have had the pleasure of dining at Kayal several times, and it consistently stands out as my top choice for a delightful South Indian culinary experience in Leicester. The warm and inviting atmosphere, combined with exceptional service from genuinely professional staff, makes Kayal my favorite dining destination in the city.

Visited Kayal in a group of 8 on a busy Saturday night in December. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, felt authentic rather than modern like most Asian restaurants. We were unfamiliar with many of the dishes on the menu which added to the enjoyment especially as the waiting staff were so attentive and happy to answer questions about the dishes. The food was presented superbly and tasted fantastic. Service was prompt. There were no negative comments about any aspect of the evening from anyone in the group.

It was fun trying out a new cuisine, the lamb dish was cooked completely differently from how I had expected it. The flavour was rich in spices however it wasn't spicy which some people may prefer, however, I like my dishes to be on the spicier side nevertheless it was fun to try something new. The coconut rice dish was a little bit of a letdown for me as I had expected the dish to be fragrant and more on the sweeter side due to it being coconut rice but was a tad bit salty, downplaying the coconut flavour. The service was amazing, even though we arrived 30 minutes before the closing time the staff still accommodated us. The food came out pretty fast as well. There was music playing in the background which created a nice ambience and the waiters made sure our experience was good by asking us if everything was good. Overall good vibes. Would recommend.

Chose to eat here, before a trip to the Little Theatre. What a great place! We arrived just as they opened, so a little quiet to start with, but soon filled up. The food was excellent as well as the service. Would definitely recommend and re-visit.

It's an amazing Indian Restaurant with different variety of south Indian dishes. I have tried out the Thalassery Chicken biryani which was soo delicious... It's highly recommended. The atmosphere and service is exceptional.

I dined at this restaurant recently and found the ambience and service to be excellent. The restaurant's atmosphere was welcoming and comfortable, and the staff was attentive and friendly. However, I was disappointed with the taste of the food during my visit. It didn't meet my expectations, considering the restaurant's reputation. Additionally, the cost of the food was on the higher side, which made the dining experience less satisfying. Overall, I had a pleasant dining experience due to the great ambience and service, but the food quality and cost left something to be desired.

Been Leicester and Leamington spa restaurants a few times. The food is good and a nice departure from the typical balti/tikka masala type food you get.

Been before, but met a couple of friends for a Saturday evening meal. Friendly staff who were very pleasant, a good selection of drinks available, and the menu has a large selection of meals available. Food served hot and fresh; took a little while as it was Saturday and they were quite full, but no problem and we loved what we chose. We'll definitely be back.

Excellent food and friendly helpful service

One of my family's favourites. Coming from a Northern Indian family, we absolutely love the variety of Southern Indian flavours that Kayal has to offer. We have visited several times with different family members and friends. The service is always welcoming and friendly, the drink options are varied including some great juices (strawberry, mango and kiwi!). And the food is spectacular with a passion towards seafood specials. Highly recommended!

The experience from booking a table to service and food were exceptional. The booking system is quick and easy and you get a call on the day to confirm. The service is amazing, even when I mispronounced their dishes they recognised them instantly, skirting the awkward pointing at the menu. The food was amazing, so full of flavour and not too hot! I really liked all the little dishes and would recommend to anyone to go try it out for what I'm told is an authentic experience.

What a place. A really well designed decor helping to create a really vibrant nice place to be. The service from start to finish was exceptional, staff very knowledgeable on the dishes and just that right amount of attentiveness as to make sure you were well looked after but also could enjoy your night out. The food was crazy good, forget your standard British Indian menu this place offers authentic Indian cuisine and dishes I haven't seen anywhere else. Its an absolute must visit.

Food was good if you like experimenting with new flavours and don’t mind spicy food. Service was friendly but very slow.

Staff were way too arrogant compare to herb. Waiting for like 10-20 mins, they just told us to wait and no one came to update us and the line grew bigger. I do understand that saturdays are busy but little bit of kindness never hurt.

Authentic Keralan seafood and curry at its best, in a very vibrant setting full of character and wonderful staff. Seafood starters relied a bit too much on fried calamari and could do with a bit more variety. And try not to sit too near the front, on a cold day the wind blows as customer busily flow and in out of this fine establishment.

Came here for dinner and to also see some comedy during the comedy festival. Really lovely and calm restaurant, a little expensive but worth the price given how delicious the food is. I ordered their mixed seafood curry with plain rice and it was honestly one of the best curries I’ve ever had! Absolutely delicious flavours and will definitely be returning. Servers were all very friendly and attentive. Great sized venue space that can fill a lot of people.

Walk in during the day, I will start with customer service side, asked for a paneer and explained I wanted it similar to Chutney Ivys style. His reply was I hated Chutney Ivys food and left a bad review which surprised me as Chutney Ivy is a nice restaurant. There was another couple in restaurant and he asked how their food was but did not once ask us. The paneer was ok but tasted like uncle bens jar sauce. The Dosa was dry and meat was stringy although you get the smallest dips ever which are no where enough for the 2 Dosas. Compared to Tipu Sultan, Martin Inn and Chutney Ivy it’s not great and the above restaurants have far more taste and better customer service! Do it like Herb you are the same company. Customer service is more important than the food side. Get a grip on it please. For that reason I will not be back

We got a walk in table on a Tuesday night. Place was packed with two large parties. There were 3 of us and we all got different options. The food was very tasty! Beers were good too with quick service. Nice vibe in this restaurant also but would 100% be back for the food

Molto comodo alla stazione ferroviaria e ad alcuni alberghi. Molto accogliente sia il locale, sia il personale che ci ha servito con cura ed attenzione. Really good Indian food experience 🙌 the service is very good and we asked for a recommendation and got a very good one. The food 🥘 is spicy but not too hot (for my taste at least, and I don’t like it super hot). Compared to some other restaurants you taste nearly no salt which then lets the other spices do their job and give you a great experience of taste 🤤 All in all a very good experience and I would come here again, when being around

Not for me. Have ordered twice now. First delivery I ordered a vegetarian option but it came with chicken and on the second delivery, I ordered a vegetable korma. Zero taste and it looked like vegetables swimming in milk. Shame because restaurant was recommended. Maybe I just made a bad choice but unfortunately it's put me off

Excellent service, excellent food

Im not satisfied at all. Interior 👌, hygiene 👌 but taste of food is not upto the mark. Taking too much time for supplying food but it wont worth the time at all. Disappointed experience. I have ordered fish platter (never again), kayal soup (its just like a fish curry gravy😂😂), nadan kozhi curry (🤐🤐🤐) and fish biriyani (which provided in an old banana leaf which spoiled the taste more). I don't think the chef is from Kerala if yes he would respect the authentic taste of kerala. Spent 105£ and it is a waste of money except Ganga Jamuna drink. Never recommend.

I love this place so much. I visited yesterday and Welton and the team are so kind and friendly. You feel more like being served at an old friend's house than a restaurant, such is the level of service, 10/10!The food is honestly incredible. If you have never tried food from Kerala the this is the place to go! Also their brand new rooftop bar is BY FAR the best secret spot in Leicester. What are you waiting for? Go check it out!

We went on a Saturday lunchtime and were seated on the rear outdoor terrace which has some heaters. We had the Kayal £9.99 thali which was superb value for money and very fresh and tasty.Our waiter Lobo was super helpful and attentive throughout.This place has a great vibe, relaxed atmosphere and is a great venue for a meet-up with friends. Looking forward to coming back soon...

Kayal is by far the best Indian restaurant in Leicester. Welton and the team are so welcoming and the food was absolutely incredible. They have a new rooftop bar which is a hidden gem. I don’t like Indian food, this was a whim. But I LOVE this place place now. I had my first ever dosa, I’m shocked and surprised and can’t wait to come back. Elziel Jesus is the loveliest waiter ever too. The wine, the food, the rooftop terrace - it’s perfect. I don’t feel like I’m in Leicester at all and I can’t wait to come back
