Katies in Gosport

I have been here a good few times now a but have not got around to writing a review. My visits have been with both my work mates and my wife Roni, so I have had both the big table and the table for two experiences. Nice to write from either side of the spectrum. To start with at both ends of the spectrum the staff have been fantastic, from the work side dealing with ten blokes and all our diverse needs and at the other end dealing with my wife in a wheelchair. It is not the biggest of places, but the staff have always done their best to clear a path when we arrive with the wheelchair and treat Roni with total respect. You can book which makes it easier for them as well as us, but we have just rocked up and been treated the same. The atmosphere is one all its own with the record player going and a rustic feel to the place. The menu is named after the greats so you can order a Beatles or a Hank Marvin and so on. The food is outstanding and for the price with table service you really cannot do much better. This is certainly our go to place when in Gosport, give it a go you will not be disappointed.

Previous visit the pancakes were delicious and a good size. The visit today the pancakes were extremely disappointing as they were half the size and burnt on one side. I’m a dog lover but having dogs play fighting, jumping and laying on the sofa is unacceptable in any cafe.

I felt I'd been transported back to the 60's/70's in this fabulous little bar in Gosport High Street. The music, on vinyl was incredible and ranged from The Birds to blues/jazz while we were there. I was there visiting my family and my brother and nephew had a great time chatting on the sofa. Drinks (beer for them and prosecco for me) were priced reasonably and were quality. The barman, Jack, was brilliant. A definite return for us on my next visit.

Great retro vinyl bar and a cracking choice of different music artist themed breakfasts and meals. We had a brekkie each, and the food was lovely. Staff were polite and attentive. Definitely recommend if you're in and about Gosport.

It looked empty when we walked past but on entering it was anything but. The choice of brekkies is excellent and the food was both tasty and well priced.

Food and service great, all day breakfasts. Not the cheapest but well worth the extra outlay. Yet to try the beers! Choose an album or relax with someone else's choice. Wish there were more places like this

Stumbled upon this unexpected diner. Relaxed, welcoming, clearly popular and well supported place serving a good range of hearty meals, well sized portions and fair prices. Great buzz, family and group friendly. May never be back in Gosport but, if we were, wouldn’t hesitate to use this place again.

1st breakfast here, should have done it months ago. Great choice of breakfast and presented well. Mia was a star worker, my husband has a saying when he's impressed 'you'd want her working for you'. Might try an evening visit as they play music and have open mic night. Pleasantly impressed with the whole experience.

We stumbled across Katie's Vinyl Bar while exploring Gosport. It promised gluten free menu choices but looked a bit crowded. However, once inside there was plenty of room and a great atmosphere, and staff were friendly and helpful. I was able to have a decent gluten free brunch while my husband enjoyed his (non gf) burger. There was a good selection of dishes on the menu and prices were very reasonable. We would definitely visit again!

Hubby had a small Katies breakfast - bacon, sausage, beans, fried egg and toast. He remarked that it was a better sausage than he's had at other local eateries. I had the American pancakes with maple syrup. BEAUTIFUL!! Best pancakes I've had. The only criticism is that I paid for two rashers of bacon and what arrived was two tiny, dried up pieces of streaky that were stone cold. The other place we usually use down the road a bit always give back bacon. Indeed, hubbys brekkie had back bacon so maybe I needed to specify. It was all washed down with a very decent cup of tea. Prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly and efficient. Would recommend Katies Vinyl Bar and Kitchen. Oh, good tunes being played too.

It pains me to write this, as I have previously had good experiences here. I have favoured coming here for breakfast a few times, over going to the chain pub down the road, as I like to support independent family run businesses. However. My friend & I called by here earlier this week, & pre-ordered our breakfasts for the next day. We explained we were time bound as we had to be somewhere by a certain time. We were assured that our breakfasts would be ready a few minutes after our arrival. In the morning, we arrived & awaited our breakfasts. I was really looking forward to mine, as I’d had it before, & knew how good it was. On arrival of the food, I was presented with something completely different & I would never have ordered. I pointed this out to the staff, and was simply told, rather abruptly, that that was what was on their orders; no apology, no offer to rectify the situation. As we needed to eat & get going, I had a little of what I’d been given, but didn’t fancy it as it wasn’t t what I’d ordered and been looking forward to. I ordered a round of toast instead, and can confirm that their toast is very good. When we came to pay, I noticed that I hadn’t even been given the incorrect order as it was advertised on the menu! Again, the female member of staff, quite abruptly, referred to a ‘conversation’ I’d had when ordering, saying I wanted mushrooms instead of bacon. This conversation simply never happened, as I hadn’t ever ordered that breakfast. The female member of staff was quite rude to us, and just kept blaming the person who’d taken the order. As I’m an honest person, I paid for the breakfast I hadn’t eaten, but have since mulled over it a lot, as it wasn’t my mistake, & I shouldn’t have had to pay. The whole experience really spoiled the rest of my birthday that day. The next morning we went to Wetherspoons and had a lovely breakfast, getting exactly what we’d ordered. The staff were friendly too.

Stayed at the new Travel Lodge opposite. Went into Katie’s breakfast on 2 mornings. Very welcoming on entry. Very tasty well presented breakfast and even though it was very busy we were served drinks and our meal within 10 minutes. Very clean and tidy and even music from vinyl. Perfect. Well done to all the staff for professionalism and enthusiasm….

Has given up finding a good breakfast in Gosport and stopped here On the off chance. I take it back the breakfast here was amazing with fresh ingredients and quality to match Will Definitely be back very soon

I had a breakfast which was nice but when I visited the toilets I wished that I hadn't ordered anything, they were disgusting.... I have since found out that one of the owners was accused of stealing money from her previous employer, I would certainly not encourage anyone to eat there

Not had a Katie's breakfast for a while so thought we would give it a try today, waitress was nice and friendly, ordered with ease, the milkshakes went down with a storm with the kids and my breakfast- 'The Proclaimers' was spot on! Really enjoyed...

Met 3 friends for breakfast (getting to be a habit!) & Katies workforce excelled themselves again. Didn't even mind that we requested ABBA 😁. Delicious food, lovely atmosphere. Thankyou everyone

My family went for Sunday morning breakfast. Good range of gluten free options. Fab coffee and excellent food. Service great and friendly efficient staff.

A friend recommended this cafe so we thought why not. We were so glad we did. The staff were lovely and friendly. Felt covid safe. Coffee was a big hit and the breakfast deliciously filling. We even got an old vinyl played. Definitely going back....

Visited at lunchtime when I needed a hot drink and a sit down. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quirky decor as it had incorporated a scrapbook wall of musicians which I would have loved to have studied. There was a proper record player...

Walked past loads of times but never ventured in what a mistake. The atmosphere was lovely, the service and food are very good. Love the back ground music. Will definitely be visiting again.

Server was nonchalant and disinterested.. food came out with caterpillars on both breakfasts, clearly the salad accompaniment is not being washed. Not sugar or sweeteners offered with coffees. Walked out with refund and won’t be revisiting

This is Gosport’s hidden gem for a cooked breakfast. Delicious! Good variety of vegetarian food on the menu.

Never been here before but went along to live music night on Friday. Band really good and bar had great atmosphere. Staff friendly and efficient. Met some very friendly people and would probably go back. Loo could do with a bit of attention but was very clean.

Exhorborant beer prices , waited forever for food . Toilet not fit for wheelchairs , too narrow entrance. Sometimes no loo paper . Overall not impressed

Have visited Katies on quite a few occasions usually for breakfast of which the sausages are my favourite bit. Have also had lunch there, the burgers are good as is the bacon, brie & cranberry panini. Can get busy especially breakfast time on a Saturday but you can always pop up stairs to the record shop.

Group of 5 popped in on the evening of the Grand National for a drink & there was live music (make singer). He took requests that you sent to his online account.

Found this by chance , pleasant environment with music coming from a record player. Food tasted good with a selection of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free produce.

Music and decorations are pretty nice, waiters too but the food is really not amazing. Not bad but lack of taste. Prices are correct

After passing this place for years, we decided it was time to try what they had to offer.

Stumbled upon this place on a cold day. Coffee hot chocolate and a red wine for around £8. Lovely friendly staff and nice atmosphere. And a record shop upstairs to boot. Lots of music memorabilia. Clean toilets with his and her deodorant on offer if you please! Defo back here when I’m back in Gosport.

Been meaning to call in before they moved to new premises in The High Street.

I have ordered a take out lunch from here four time over recent weeks. On two of those occasions I requested a bespoke (I added/omitted ingredients) baguette, paninis etc. They were well filled, tasty ingredients. Even when I haven’t ordered in advance, they do not take very long. The staff are always polite and helpful. I look forward to eating in, when time allows.

I first visited Katie’s with my boyfriend for breakfast just before Christmas. We enjoyed the vibe of the place so much that we returned later that night to check out the band. We’ve since taken family and friends back in for breakfast, and we’ve loved it just as much every time. This place is exactly what Gosport High Street needs!

To be honest I am being generous with my rating but only because 2* would be slightly harsh, so let's say 2.5, and my review is for breakfast alone.

Absolutely amazing, i have nothing bad to say about Katies! Food was gorgeous and was quick to the table, the sounds of the vinyls were great, this place needs to be more recognised!

I can understand the concept but think i am now abit too old (as i thought it was a bit loud ) loved the idea of the old record player on the bar n a whole s &%& load of lpS to choose from , if it was the late 70S early 80S , i would be in every weekend piling up the ska/2tone music, i am not knocking you at all as i thought the staff were brilliant/knowledgeable as i was after an IPA and got steered to the closest alternative.Loved listening to the beatles though , so keep it up cos it was a damn sight better than drinking in a Weatherspoons

first time I've been to Katie's at night..and since they've changed location...great beer and a great atmosphere..probably my new local

Quickly nipping out for a lunch time snack turned into and hour. Arrived at Katies during lunchtime to find not many people there, I now know why. We ordered our food at 1210, there were 4 other people in the café, cheesy chips and an omelette ordered. 1240 other people had food and we still did not, surprisingly one other had chips, I fear their chip pan may only cook a portion at a time. 1245 omelette arrived and still no cheesy chips, really, orders aren't even brought together. 1250 and eventually the chips came, they must have run out of cheese as there wasn't even a matchbox size grating over them. The staff are in slow mode and do not at the time of ordering tell you that they are growing the potatoes for the chips. If you have the time and inkling to wait around in a café for food then this is the place, however, if you like to go and order and eat your food during your lunch break then avoid at all costs.

My daughter and I went to Katies for breakfast on Sunday. It's very welcoming and a great choice of food on the breakfast menu. The atmosphere in Katies is great; old-school reggae played on a vintage Bush record player was just right.

From the outside it looked very welcoming but having come here once i will never go back. A waste of my time. We walked in to no one greeting us so had to find someone to ask about seating. When choosing what i wanted i was not made aware that it will be a 30 min wait. This was at 11 and there wasnt many people there so was abit anoyed that i only saw the 30 min sign after sitting. The staff seemed very new and not with it at all. It took 10 mins to be brought my drink and a further 5 for a tea. When the tea came it was a mug of hot water to brew yourself. I didnt have a problem but 15 mins for a mug of hot water and again not that many people. After 45 mins my breakfast arrived. 45 mins i mean really is the chef laying eggs to order ? The breakfast was standard. The black pudding was burnt to a crisp to the point were i could snap it. The staff were polite but useless. Constantly asking were drinks are going and looking at each other vancantly. I will not be going back and would suggest sticking to selling records rather that making food. If you want to feel youve gone back in time to have a rubbish experience then go here.

We went to Katie’s 2 weeks ago and had a really nice lunch, sandwiches came with little potato things and salad...however today, ordered exactly the same and waited half an hour for what can only be described as an ‘oops forgot about you, let’s throw something on a plate’ occasion. The sandwiches were bereft of any side salad or potato, my baguette was a soft sub, the cream cheese was literally chucked on one side and the smoked salmon was obviously in short supply.when I mentioned it was different last time, the rather moody waiter said ‘oh maybe they had potato’s left over from breakfast and put those on’ then came back with a few crisps and said ‘we forgot to put these on’...not impressed at all. Be consistent Katie’s, we came back because we were happy, and recommended it to colleagues who certainly got value for money and were served minutes after sitting down, we left feeling deflated and somewhat conned!

Nice selection of beers, Hole Hearted and some Fuller's. Good selection of vinyl records to play, I put on The Jam's 'Setting Sons'. Caters to a younger crowd but they dont seem to mind us old farts 😁

Have been here a couple of times and have found the food excellent and piping hot. The only moan I have is that it is served on wooden boards and some were cracked and can't be very hygienic. Next time I go I will aske for a plate. I would have given it 5 stars if we had been served our food on a plate

Having been here a couple of times for breakfast with friends, I can highly recommend.

Nice enough unique cafe/bar where you can also buy records. Food is good and plentiful but I didn't find the staff particularly all that friendly. It seemed they're only there under sufferance. I'll give it another try in the future.

First visit, went for breakfast, good selection available and quality product. Good size portions and drinks. There was a vibrant atmosphere and everyone in the place appeared to be enjoying themselves. There were a good number of staff on hand to serve customers and we will definitely be visiting again.

We eat breakfast at Katie's regularly and the food is always good but today we waited nearly an hour for our breakfast. After 40 minutes of waiting l informed the staff that we had not even been served a cup of tea. We were informed they had forgotten to print the order and put it through. Another 10min wait for a cup of tea and eventually our order arrived. The staff did apologise but we were very disappointed with the service on this occasion.

Called in this morning. First time we've visited in the new premises. Had poached eggs on toast and cappuccino. Hubby had Katie's breakfast. Excellent. Girls behind the counter very friendly. Food was great and price really good. They also sell Leiffmans fruit beer, so purchased some to take away as I can yet find anyone else who sells it locally. Would highly recommend and will be going back.

Lovely fresh food served, I had the Burrito wrap with falafel and triple fried chips served with guacamole and salsa

Popped in for a brunch meal and was impressed with the vast choices on the breakfast menu. All are titled as a music artist. Mine was called 'Lady Gaga' which was a Gluten Free Breakfast of egg, bacon, sausages, baked beans, mushrooms, tomato, and GF toast & butter. My friend had one called 'The Dubliners' an Irish Breakfast. Eggs Benedict is call Ben E King. Background music is played via L.P. records played on a record player............. Would recommend to anyone with Coeliac disease as there are many Gluten Free options and are clearly annotated on the menu.............Note! Not now in the precinct, now based round the corner in lower High Street.

Seems nice and clean. First visit was great. Friendly staff and nice food. Went back on a saturday which was very busy and the food was not as good. Didn't like the squashed jacket and beans served on a wooden board, side salad was just leaf where as it had been a nice mix before. Tried once more with friends and food was good again but music too loud and waitress not so friendly. Love the concept of the vinyl if not too loud. All said: It is worth a visit.

Great quality baguette, lovely and fresh. Made to order. Chips are so good! Hubby had Ham Egg and Chips, the ham was really good quality and lovely.

Great atmosphere, wonderfully done. Good customer service, had two breakfasts for a great price. Food was great, really well cooked (poached eggs were perfect) and tasted lovely. Hot choccys were fab!

Van de buitenzijde nodigt deze brasserie/lunchcafé zeker niet uit. Iets uit het centrum verwijderd, op een pleintje van "vergane glorie" winkels doch eenmaal binnen zit je in een trendy muziek-bar zoals ze zichzelf presenteren. We hadden zin in een traditioneel engels ontbijt en hebben zeker waar voor ons geld gekregen. Voor ongeveer 20 pond hebben we beide een vol bord gekregen alsook pancakes. Smaak was zeer goed, dus relatief goedkoop voor wat je krijgt.

Hemos estado varias veces. La comida es estupenda y la atención al detalle es precioso, especialmente el panecillo con la poco bebidas calientes. La cosa que me encanta es la cantidad de opciones para vegetarianos. Estoy tan acostumbrado a salir y tener 1 o 2 cosas para elegir en un menú, que es agradable tener una gran variedad, y es buena comida para vegetarianos, no solo un pensamiento, como en la mayoría de los lugares que he probado. Una gran relación calidad-precio y personal amable.

Fuimos a finales de desayuno. 2 y 2 cafés. great brekkies Cuando entramos había 3 mesas gratis. 2 estaban cubiertas estuviera en las sobras. La mesa que queríamos era limpiado. Ordenados. Cafés tardó en venir. Había un niscuit con el cofdee whixh era un toque agradable. noce Qe vi nuestro desayuno bajar escaleras ubicados y la cara inferior de las placas eran asquerosas! La parte de la placa que la comida estaba en estaba limpia así que remito. En general, la comida estaba bien. Bacom cocidas y frías. Setas cocidas. Salchichas estaban muy bien.

Para desayunar ayer un salto. Wow con mejor aspecto y degustación de todos. El desayuno de los Beatles. Altamente recomendado a utilizar a partir de ahora Katie's

Un tipo diferente de café, su música orientados con recuerdos de música, vinilo lp's para esterillas, personal y un buen menú. Siempre antes de ir a pescar durante el día, y normalmente tienen un desayuno, lo cual siempre es bueno, pero como estaba un poco más tarde, nos salchichas y puré de patatas, pan y mantequilla y té, lo único que me podría comentar era las salchichas estaban un poco quemados, pero aún estaba buenísimo. Sin duda no va aquí.

Nunca había estado antes, así que decidimos darle una oportunidad. Bonita decoración muy moderna y un montón de asientos también hay un bar. Todos estábamos tomando el desayuno y hay un montón de diferentes opciones, antiobesidad y vegen el buen inglés completo que tenía y sin duda volveremos quizás incluso este fin de semana fue tan agradable. Así que sí, lo recomiendo encarecidamente su un poco fuera del camino en Gosport precinto pero vale la pena verlo.

Enjoyed eating in this place ! Me and my son used to go down the road but they was closed for the day so thought we would pop in to Katie's They full English was lovey sausages where nice not the cheep ones you get ! Fresh food cooked to perfection and for a Great Price, Staff are friendly and kept on top of keeping the place clean and tidy. Five Star from me and my son

great cafe with lots of charm, part of the wild ride of the cafe is watching the waitress walk down the stairs with the food. It is terrifying and adds an edge to an otherwise standard event (breakfast). Great food and friendly staff.

We went here for our 'Cronnies Breakfast', four of us in our retirement. We all enjoyed our choices, and the quality of the food was great but not the cheapest. There were suitcases of vinal records the customers were encouraged to put on the turntable. The atmosphere was great and staff were friendly and helpful.

Had the most amazing xmas dinner for a very large group and the food service was excellent. All food was hot and beautifully prepared.Sadly toilets a but grubby

I recently hired Katie's out for my friends baby shower and it was absolutely perfect. It cost us £80 for four hours which I found quite reasonable.The space was very open, which allowed us enough room to lay everything out and play our baby shower games! They played music throughout the shower, but when we started playing games they turned it down without us needing to ask which was very thoughtful.The staff were very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Throughout the booking process and the time leading up to the shower they kept in touch to make it an easy process.We didn't have any of the food so I couldn't comment on that side. However if you need to book an open space for a party or whatever then Katie's is definitely worth looking into!

Visited last weekend with my Daughter and Son-in-law. Tried a vegan breakfast for the first time, it was really nice! Only one point - music blaring over the two minute silence. Makes it a bit difficult to observe. Otherwise lovely.

Lovely evening with live music and good food. It had a good atmosphere with dancing inside and outside.

Felt very welcoming and had a decent lunch but I didn't like the vinyl record place mats or the low black vinyl chairs that I sat on. far too low for me and not very comfy.

I've been to Katie's a few times now and always had an excellent experience. Nothing is too much trouble and the food and ambiance is great.The atmosphere is suitable for business meetings as well as catching up with friends over a coffee, lunch or a glass of wine with good company.

First time visiting recently. Was very nice. Loved the decor. Loved that it was so relaxed. Food was tasty, presented well and quick. Service was ok. Only tiny thing, stairs were unclean...being picky. Will be back and would recommend.

I have been to Katies many times now and never tire of the experience. I go for breakfast and normally have ' The Proclaimers ' with Haggis. To explain, Katies is themed on music from the vinyl era. The various breakfasts (24 options) on their menu have names of music artists artists from this era. The one I normally choose is Scottish and has been called The Proclaimers. It has scottish square sausage, tatty cakes and haggis as an optional extra as well as the normal bacon, egg, beans etc. A diet coke for my daughter was served in a screwtop jar with a handle like a small beer mug. Katies food menu is extensive and also caters for the likes of Gluten free, vegans etc.I wouldn't walk 500 miles and I wouldn't walk 500 more to get a breakfast here, but It's well worth a visit. I'm pretty sure you'll go back a second time after you try it once.

Regularly visit Katie's whenever I'm in the area, either for breakfast, lunch or dinner, sometimes all three. Food is always top quality and arrives in good time, and the selection of drinks is better than anywhere else I've been. Music nights are always good as well, good atmosphere and with the decor of the place, makes for a really good night out.

our friends who lives in Gosport had their wedding reception their yesterday 20/7/2016, nothing was too much trouble, and she did the room up beautifully for them, I love the atmosphere of the place, and the staff was very friendly too, I would recommend this place for a medium family sized family function, we had a brilliant meal at the wedding reception, and plenty of it too, they do a variety of breakfast to suite all taste, we will definitely go in their again, as the food is excellent , and the owner marie is very welcoming, it is so unique too, with the old fashion vinyl records being played, just what our taste is , from beatles to motown and everything in between, I have never seen another place like it, well worth a visit , if you are in Gosport area

Had my wedding reception here and every single guest said it was the best reception they had been to and I have to agree..this was the first time the staff had done a wedding reception and it was excellent staff friendly food outstanding and Marie is a really lovely lady nothing is to much trouble she and her team are truly amazing they made the place look beautiful and set all bits and pieces up I can't thank the staff enough I had a brilliant day and I highly recommend this place for functions and even popping in for a breakfast

I've been to Katie's loads of times. Never disappointed with the standard of food. Well worth a visit. Don't miss out on this little gem.

Booked a table for 17 girls to have breakfast, food was awesome, service was quick and staff were really friendly! Small cafe packed with a good atmosphere and awesome decor! Would definitely recommend a visit for breakie!!

This is a brilliant café, love the 'music theme' and love the fact you can play vinyls whilst having your food and you can even bring your own in too! Great idea! Food is really nice! Only minor negative point id like to raise is your clothes stink of chip fat when you've left but apart from that a top place to eat!

I love this place, myself and partner always have our Breakfast here, Always friendly smiling staff and food is always served in good time and hot :) Highly recommend The Beatles. I also love that the beans are in a ramekin and not on the plate.Keep up the great work Guys and we'll see you soon :)

Very quirky which certainly adds to the experience. ...in a very positive way. We both had breakfasts and they were absolutely superb. No cheap ingredients, every bit was delicious. Had a super cup of tea too. Staff very friendly and service was faultless. The icing on the cake is that the prices are very reasonable. ...will definitely be visiting again.....

Great food. Mainly breakfasts and lunches. Very reasonably priced. Take a step back in time to the 60's!!

Wonderful local record shop cafe. If you like Pie and Vinyl in Southsea, you'll love Katie's! The only place for lunch and breakfast in Gosport.

Went to Katie's for breakfast . And it was ok. The decor was a lot more exciting then the food. My girlfriend and I both commented on the saltiness in flavour . But still had a nice time .Toilets were a little weird and felt like I shouldn't be there . So need to re think that situation ... But over all will be back again

Fabulous little cafe serving great food, we had the Burns night dinner and I would put it as one of the best I've ever had. There was a brilliant band on as well to top the evening off. First class food and drink at great prices. We will be back.

Did the burns night meal tatties nips and haggis with malt whisky. a great meal and very nice atmosphere in a good venue. Will definitely use this venue again for breakfast and dinner. Food good prices good, good beer selection and wine list not bad either. Service quick and friendly
