this one has to be one of the best "authentic indian restaurants" Most of the indian restaurants feature a Moghul menu which is not what the people eat on a daily basis but based on the royal court of the Moghuls and owned and operated by Bangladeshis from just two districts in their country, Sylhet and one other The service and atmosphere is excellent. Wonderful oooks from the home country excelling in each and every dish. I always order Lamb Karahi and it never disappoints me and no other lamb karahi in the so called indian restaurants in usa comes anywhere near . worth a trip to london

I felt family environment in kaniz being in UK. The service and food is exceptionally good. Nepalese cuisine are also serve here for Nepalese people.

Chicken jalfreizi is one of the best food I ever had. Friendly staff and food delivery as per your wish of time.

There's not much to do around the Sheraton Heathrow hotel, but luckely there is Kaniz within walking distance. A wide variety on the menu, but I went for the chicken vandaloo. Very tasty, but not that spicy. Friendly service. The food is worth his money.

Thank you to all the people that have eaten at Kaniz and gave it the great reviews on Tripadvisor. This was my first time eating at an Indian restaurant and I just loved it. The food was just perfect. It was so good. It will not be my last. The waitress was so attentive and helpful. The restaurant itself was spotlessly clean and very well appointed. It is great for couples wanting a romantic night out or friends just wanting a beautiful place with great food. James and I would go back here in a heartbeat, but sadly we are off on our cruise tomorrow morning. Don't miss the papadam with the tray of dipping sauces. The mango chutney mixed with the coconut were killer. So good I added both to the salad. This restaurant let us start our holiday on a very high note. Thank you to our wonderful waitress and the manger for the attention and great service.

I was politely greeted at the door and was seated straight away. The restaurant was smart and tastefully decorated with music at the perfect level. I was then offered a drink and then the menu. All this was done in a relaxed way and in no way did I feel rushed to choose my meal. I opted for the Chicken Tikka starter which came on a sizzling platter and was surrounded by onion. Both were perfectly cooked to perfection and the flavours were balanced and totally delicious. This was also served with a generous fresh side salad. There was a 15 minute pause until my main course arrived which was the Chicken Byriani and this came with the traditional sauce. I also ordered a garlic naan which is the best one I’ve had outside of India. The cicken byriani was beautifully presented and was cooked again to perfection with beautiful flavours running throughout the dish. To sum up I would eat here regularly if I lived locally as the service was second to none and the food is amazing. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough and shall be visiting it again soon. Thank you

As an Australian couple on an 3 month European/UK holiday adventure , we craved an Indian meal after 8 weeks in Europe. This Restaurant, so near Heathrow Airport , was an unexpected treasure and exceeded all of our expectations. Staying at the Hyatt Place Hotel near Heathrow Airport, the Hotel staff recommended a restaurant about 500 metres from the hotel foyer. This was Kaniz Indian Restaurant . My wife and I ordered Palak Paneer, Chicken Tikka, Lamb Rogan Josh, Raita, Basmati Rice , Plain Naan Bread. All were superb as were the French Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.. The service was exceptional. Azad the manager, was very personable and provided great advice on the meals and the wines. His very capable assistant Rashid was also very professional in her approach. They helped make the meal a really enjoyable experience in a most unlikely location located so lose to the Heathrow complex. We are returning to London on the last night of our holidays in mid June and we will be returning to Kaniz for another , special, Indian meal . You should visit this restaurant if in the Heathrow vicinity, or staying at one of the airport Hotels. You will not be disappointed.

A warm welcome and a delicious meal at this understated restaurant. We couldn’t fault the meal, the service or the price. Would definitely visit again.

These were my previous comments. Edited slightly. I deliberately stay at the Hyatt at LHR just so I can eat at this restaurant. Worth it. Price $79. This is about taste not heat. They will make it as spicy as you want. 6 choices of dressing for popadoms, for me all great. One on the spicy side but for me not excessively so 2 vegetarian starters full of taste 2 main courses Korma and Bhuna Tikka. Both perfection and served with vegetable rice and nan bread 1 wine and a large beer. This is fine dining for only $70 and worth every penny. For the beginner or spicy food lover this is a must visit. You will not be disappointed

Having a great day with my friends and we ordered some dishes as take away. The presentation of the plates wasn’t very good and they get in the location cold because they weren’t covered enough. The food wasn’t that bad but I’ll suggest to change the take away boxes.

We got takeaway of chicken tikka masala , lamb Karahi, chole, and mutter paneer.Chicken tikka was very good , lamb was soft and well flavoured. Chole was very tasty, Mutter paneer tasted ok but presentation was terrible. It was all mushy.Also every dish came in large foil containers.I would buy chicken tikka masala again

First I would just like to say the meal we ordered was not what we both received me and my partner we asked for king prawn dishes we got more like Tesco value not what we paid for at all and when it came it was disgusting i had 3 mouthfuls and put it in the bin the sauce or what ever it was I don't know how it could of even been classed as indian food me and my partner are used to eating indian food and have had amazing food from many places sadly this was not one of them so never again I would rate the food 0 out of 10 but I would like to say the management was so nice and friendly and did try and help us so 10 out of 10 but for food no so poor worst i have ever had even the rice was something I could not put into words and how can u get rice so wrong

Visited on a busy Wednesday evening. Waited a short while to be seated. Food came out very timely and was delicious. Lamb Jalfrezi was very special. The staff were very diligent and polite. Very affordable prices so will look forward to returning.

We recently visited this place with my friends as this place was recommended by one of my other friends. We ordered spicy food and we were served food with raw chilly powder mixed into the curry. The curries were pathetic. We ordered Shami kabab and we were served with hard rock solid grilled kababs which no way looked like Shami kabab. The staff were friendly but not the food. Dishes comparatively mild, but very fruity and tasty. Already the papadums with a selection of sauces were very high in quality, and the main dishes continued on that path - anytime again.

I stay in airport hotels all the time, the best thing about staying at Heathrow is being able to get a take away from this place. The food is good, they deliver too. I was told that I needed to order £15 to qualify for free delivery, not £12 as stated on menu, however the samosas that I ordered were so worth it, best ever! Highly recommend

We have eaten at Kaniz (5x) with family every time we’ve visited over the last 4 years. Food is great and able to take large parties. It is perfectly convenient for our last night before flying out of Heathrow. It is a 5 minute walk from the Hounslow Hyatt or a short cab ride from any airport hotel. Service and food is consistently great.

I recently visited the restaurant on my return to Cyprus where I live. As a seasoned customer at many Indian restaurants around the world together with cooking Indian cuisine I am well equipped to make this unbiased and balanced review of my visit to this establishment.The welcome I received was good as was the overall cleanliness of the establishment. The waiting service was of good standard and the delivery of our various courses was timely.We commenced our meal by ordering 2 poppadoms with a pickle tray; these were of a good standard and the pickle tray was excellent with an extensive selection of pickles and dips. We also ordered a large and small bottle of Kingfisher beer, these were not value for money, the cost of these two bottles was £10.25.Our starters consisted of vegetable samosas and tandoori chicken, these two dishes did not offer value for money, the samosas were very small and the tandoori chicken consisted of a very small drum stick and thigh which had little meat on the bones; the cost of these two starters was 3.25 and 4.95 respectively.Our main course consisted of a chicken tikka korma curry, a chicken jalfrezi, 1pilau rice and a garlic naan bread. The chicken content of the each curry was above average and therefore value for money. Sadly, the depth of flavour was lacking and the food was poorly seasoned and prepared.

Having regularly stayed around the heathrow area i’ve never tried this restaurant until this visit and the food was amazing! The staff were friendly and helpful but the food is the winner in this establishment. The best indian food i have tasted. Not like usual indians i go this. This food was authentic and beautiful. I will 100% be visiting again, i’d recommend you visit here too! You wont be disappointed!

I booked this restaurant as a treat for my daughters birthday. Walking in I thought I had picked a lovely restaurant until we ordered our food!! For starters we ordered the mixed grill expecting it to come out sizzling,, quite baffled we continued eating but were very still surprised. As other customers turned up we noticed they had ordered the same mixed grill which came out hot and sizzling with smoke as we should have expected ours but when we questioned the waiter who is the bald one just fobbed us off by saying oh it sometimes doesn’t come out like that and that you can get it next time. I was absolutely stunned by his response but because it was my daughters special day I continued with the night. We ordered our main meal, which was makhani daal, okra. Lamb tikka masala and butter chicken. Now I am not sure what this restaurant thought that maybe we have never eaten Indian food before as there food was just not up to standards , the butter chicken was sweet, the daal had no spice, and the lamb just was served with more onions on the platter then lamb itself. The peshwari naan that one person in the family ordered was served burnt and when I said to the waiter about this he was not even apologetic about it. I was left feeling like I had committed a crime by asking him to replace this. Eventually it was taken away and she was served with another one. The service was terrible right from the start to the end of the night, trying to get the waiters attention when they should be seeing if you were ok. This place is more catered for the English people who like less spicy items not for Indians who like it spicy. I wouldn’t recommend my friends & family to come here. HS

Great place to have a dinner. The personnel is quite friendly and the food quite tasty. There is a wide variety of curries to choose from. Each of them is an adventure in itself. Highly recommended for anyone in the area.

The service was very good, no silly long waits and cleared quickly. Food seemed freshly cooked and was well presented. Drinks are a bit pricey though.

Service was excellent and things arrived very quickly. Best I have seen in any restaurant. Drinks arrived on time, big ice bucket and water bottles. Really the service impressed me. With regards to the food I didn’t feel it was that good, I also felt they maybe using too much colouring as my chicken vindaloo came out very very red! But the taste was good. Was disappointed that they didn’t have green chillies on the curry and probably only used powered chillies. The fish was ok and had green chillies and must commend them on low salt. Because I felt the salt was perfect, however watched others adding salt which is good. As you can never reverse high salt Overall great pleasant experience however the tastiness of the food I felt average.

The food and the service was superb! Before we even ordered they came out with a plate of papadums and dips to go with it. This was such a great start. With service unlike what we would get anywhere in Australia for Indian. I have never seen such a nice presentation and then we ordered our mains and entrees and the cooking time was nice and speedy and the taste was unreal. So glad that this was our last meal for our time in London. Thoroughly enjoyed this and so did my family. Our mains came out with hot benches to keep the meals warm, which was another nice little touch! Very clean, even the toilets. Would 100% recommend. Thank you for our meals tonight, if we are back around the ends sometime in the future we will be coming back. You’ve won over some great Australian customers.

Unfortunately all of our meal was tasteless from starters to main apart from the naan bread which was burnt. Please please can you marinate your meat. The service was poor too, no personal interaction it was as if we and other customers in my opinion were an inconvenience. No customer service unfortunately. We have visited your restaurant many times in the past but will not again.

Brought my ‘Italian wife’ (she should be so unlucky) here for a late lunch, prior to driving her into London for some business meetings, followed by shopping (I was glad to be missing both -especially the latter - ‘....and no, your posterior does not look too big in that trouser suit/pair of jeans etc.’)

Had dinner here as alternative to eating in the hotel again. Was last here about five years ago and seem to remember it was a bit better then. Maybe that's just me. Not that this was bad; just very average and slightly old-fashioned, as Indian restaurants are 20 years ago, still using standard catering sauces. Service was on the grumpy side.

Wir waren als Familie essen und kennen die indische Küche aus Reisen vor Ort, aber auch aus anderen indischen Restaurants; das Ambiente ist hochwertig und das Service auch, aber das Essen entspricht keineswegs; es fehlt der indisch-exotische Geschmack völlig, es schmeckt wie aus der Dose; sogar die Chillischärft kommt nicht von echten Chillies sondern von Gewürzen (inklusive Geschmacksverstärker). Vermutlich ist der Koch gar kein Inder!

We had a tasty meal of several different chicken dishes which were tasty and of great value. Food was served hot and fresh and the service was great.

We were staying at a hotel near Heathrow and didn’t fancy eating in-house. This restaurant, a five minute walk from the Hyatt on Bath Road, really delivered the goods. The food was sensational. Just the smells alone made your mouth water. Staff are friendly and efficient, the meals are delicious and the beer’s cold.

I visited Kaniz restaurant with my wife last night and we had a very enjoyable time.....the restaurant had a pleasant interior with certificates for hygiene and food awards proudly displayed on entry.

My wife and I were staying in a local hotel who’s curry offering was on the face of it a “plastic chicken Tikka Masala”. So we braved the rain and a short walk to Kaniz. We throughly enjoyed our meal. Nice and crispy Onion bhaji, tender chicken tikka and flavoursome lamb bunha and lamb jalfrezzi. Have to recommend the tandoori roti as an alternative to naan. It was crispy, light and a perfect accompaniment to the meal. Would recommend if you are looking for something different from the usual hotel offerings.

Firstly I’ve just read a poor recent review of this restaurant, it’s a place I’ve been to a few times whilst awaiting Heathrow departures on an overnight basis. It’s Authentic, the food is flavoursome, the service is excellent,I’d be going here if I lived somewhat nearer irrespective of its geographical convenience.

My friends were marooned in a dreary Heathrow hotel after a cancelled flight. We searched Opentable for a decent meal in a warm, friendly environment.... not easy around there, especially on a Sunday evening. From the moment we walked in until we (eventually) departed, Kaniz was a delight. Friendly staff; freshly made food; just the overall ambience we were hoping for. Instead of just ordering from the menu we talked to our waiter about what we liked and asked for recommendations. That led to a fresh fish dish (Tilapia), a complex, aromatic chicken dish and several vegetables; I don't remember the exact names or ingredients. The Tilapia dish was a bit too spicy for one of us, but perfect for me. For us, Kaniz transformed an otherwise depressing evening in to a nice, warm, uplifting culinary and social experience. It's very uplifting to discover a team of nice people working hard to deliver a great service, especially in the most unexpected places. Delayed and cancelled flights at Heathrow may be inevitable, but bad food and service are not. I hope that the hospitality at Kaniz will continue to uplift travellers and locals for many years to come :)

It was convenient to be able to walk from our Heathrow hotel Hyatt Place but I was so disappointed in the food I ordered which was Butter chicken which is heavenly when I order it in one of the many Indian restaurants in the San Francisco Bay Area. Their version was sweet and no detectable spices so I’d say try the Chicken tikka or something else, my husband was pleased with his Tikka lamb, which the waitress recommended, I wish she had recommended something different for me.

Great food and service in an elegant restaurant at reasonable prices. Our waitress Aurelia made sure we had everything we needed and came by throughout the meal service without being intrusive. This is a place where you can spend a few hours .in an elegant setting and not feel rushed. Myself, my friends and family absolutely love this place! Have been in twice now and ordered a few take-aways and it’s always been fantastic. Really great food and not a bad price at all. Great service, as soon as you sit down they bring over popadoms and a large selection of lovely dips etc. Very attentive too even on busy evenings. Food is fantastic too, can not fault.
