Dirty floor and carpet,food quality and taste not good ,very expensive,The owners behave is so disgusting 🤮 ,the worst experience we ever had ! I recommend to no go !!!

In my opinion this is the best Indian restaurant in the area. I've tried them all.

The service, food, and decor at this place are absolutely terrible, especially considering the high price of the dishes! I recommend trying Saffron Street in Gants Hill instead; it's nearby, much tastier, and they genuinely care about their customers. Let me elaborate on the issues I encountered here: The utensils, particularly the knife and forks, were dirty, and the napkins were not only filthy but seemed like they were straight out of the last millennium – no exaggeration. The chairs emitted an unpleasant odor and are in desperate need of updating, as is the overall decor. While a few dishes were passable, most lacked any discernible flavor. It's disappointing to see the quality decline, especially considering I've been a patron for over 18 years. Unfortunately, this visit will be my last. The staff, in general, seemed disinterested and somewhat standoffish. I can't confirm if it was the manager or not, but a significant portion of the staff displayed this attitude. On a positive note, the butter and Malia Chicken were enjoyable, but the Lamb curry and Amritsar fish were far from fresh.

I arrived at the restaurant as I had been given a recommendation it was a good place to eat. The decor and furnishings are pleasant so I was hoping the food would be great too. I was extremely disappointed with the food I had a spicy chicken covered in sauce that did nothing for me and as it was a birthday dinner the waiter was notified of this but there was no effort made to even acknowledge this. I think if you cannot make your guests happy with the experience they are paying for them you’re in the wrong business. Very disappointing experience would not recommend this restaurant.

One of the worst experience we had on there wedding hall upstair. Food was disgusting. Most of the food wasn’t even cooked properly.I won’t recommend party hall for your special day.

I had the pleasure of having Kanchans providing catering for my big day at Hylands House in Chelmsford. Peter was super helpful throughout, adapting dishes to better suit our guests and accomodating last minute requests. All our guests LOVED the food, had so many people saying it was the best wedding food they had tried! Service and timing on the day was perfect too! Cannot recommend Kanchans enough!

We were really amazed at how great the food was as it was exactly the same as the restaurant for the banqueting (which most restaurants don't do in terms of quality). We wanted to make sure the food wasn't spicy yet tasty and Peter helped us make a great selection for the menu in advance for the event. Even the guests that came from abroad really enjoyed their first ever Indian food experience. Our favourite was the daal makhani, beetroot halwa and tutti fruiti kulfi. I couldn't rave about this restaurant more and look forward to my next visit and would easily book this space again for any large dinner events

I ordered few different dishes and they all taste the same, looks like they are using the same gravy for every dish. Very disappointing, wish i could 0 star.

Absolutely amazing place. Can bee expensive but they always deliver on the taste, tradition, and staff are so lovely. It’s the place for an Indian family meal, a treat on your friend’s special day, or even for a romantic Valentine’s. And it’s quite quiet for such an exquisite restaurant, they’re so underrated. The food was rubbish all you can taste was tomato purée no taste no spice. Food catered not for asians ( Indians) stay away from this place £ 37 down the drain local kebabish serve Better food at much cheaper rate. Not happy at all

Good food but not as great as it used to be. It’s also outdated, a lick of paint would definitely freshen the place up. Great potential, just needs a bit of time and effort. Also confused as to whether you serve Halal meat or not? When we went in, we were told it was Halal. However, it’s not something mentioned on your Google search. Some customers have said you don’t serve Halal food…

I booked my civil wedding celebrations at Kanchans yesterday. Moorthy from Kanchans was there from day 1 with the planning and organising. On the event day, the entire Kanchans team including their management team provided exceptional service to both sides of the family. The food was exceptional and everyone who came really appreciated the 3 course meal. The team catered for all my guests with dietary requirements. I truly am very grateful to Moorthy and the entire team for making our celebrations even more memorable. Thanks Kanchans team

Very disappointed with everything you can expect in a dine in. Right from the welcome we got till the time we cleared the cheque, I can't help but wonder why I went there. Very unprofessional behaviour from the waiter. They probably thought that we couldn't afford the cost, not sure. Food was honestly below average. I should have taken 10 steps on either side to end up with Bahubali or Royal Spicy Dosa. I got back for being adventurous I must say. 🥲 Something I've mentioned in some of my previous reviews as well, is that when your fellow Indians treat you poorly and treat the non Indians better, I can't help but wonder what has brought these immigrants to this despicable state. Some of the great people in this world have become so by staying humble. And I must say, the words kind, polite, humble, welcome don't exist in their dictionary. I'm never going back there again and if you do so, my deepest condolences in advance.

A group of 16 of us frequented Kanchans. Our thali so called cost £20 which was a disgrace. Another disgrace was a bottled water cost £4, my family will never go to this restaurant ever again !!!!! Most definitely Not Value for money. STILL VERY EXPENSIVE.

Kanchans provided the food and staff for my daughter’s wedding reception and everything was fantastic. The food was amazing and all the guests made a point to say how great the mains, in particular, were. Thanks Peter for such excellent service.

One of the best restaurants for the food and ambience in London :) and simple the best in East London. The restaurant has their own car park in the lane behind. The food is so tasty and fresh. Ambience is awesome. Managers are awesome but serving staff can be unpredictable. A must visit place!

Standards are improving since we last visited this restaurant a few times about 3 years ago before the Covid Pandemic. It seems management have taken suggestions from reviews or may be have changed the Chef and managers staff, because curries have more vegetables and not too much gravy like before. Service was also better with improved staff training. Waiters are more observant and attentive being sensitive to customer needs.

Went today for fathers day meal it was OK not bad but its like any other Indian restauranti reckon but not the best I think had to wait for starter and mains service was bit on slow side I think but overall it was OK shame der no parking at restaurant so had to park at side road

We went recently for a wedding party and were really pleasantly surprised by the decor, service and most importantly the food! The starters were so moorish, especially the fish pakora (anyone who knows me knows I don't eat fish!) and the mains were just as good! Will definitely come again and try the main resteraunt next time, one to shortlist !

Thank you kanchans for making my sons 21st birthday dinner a relaxed and well organised one. I asked for vegan vegetable food and sure enough kanchans had made sure all the vegetarian dishes were vegan even the naans had no butter on them. Very attentive to our 20 people. Always on hand and at the end not rushed to tell us to go. We did do a set menu for 20 people so maybe that made it easier for the kitchen. Superb service and delicious food. Thank you again

Banqueting halls a god size my niece had her burst party there. The food was ok I’ve had better and the service was ok’is

The food in general was good there was a group of us 15 in total but we were the only ones in there. Service was a little slow the decor is looking old and worn but food was better than expected. The veg dishes were better than the meat dishes.

We have tried plenty of Indian restaurants in East London and when it comes to top quality authentic Indian food this is the best you will ever find. Every time we eat in here we feel like we back in North India somewhere, that flavours so good, it takes us back home. Top quality food and top service. Also they were so good we booked them for our wedding catering and let me tell you when it comes to catering for your big event this is the place to book. We were amazed at how good they were, they literally ran the whole wedding. Top service and delicious food for our guests, we had guests call us after the wedding to enquire where the food was from because it was just that good the guests wanted more. This place is a must visit to try the delicious food on offer, Also if you need catering for any events then these guys are the ones to call. The best ones out there. Highly recommended!

We had our sons 18th birthday party in the banqueting suite. The staff were so kind and accommodating before and during the event. Everything was very well organised and all the party food was just delicious - we had so many comments from our guests on how nice all the food was. The staff were really helpful and quick in replenishing the food. It meant we could enjoy the party without worrying about anything. Highly recommended! Thank you Kanchans team so much.

This is the second event Kanchan's have hosted for us. They did such a fabulous job with our wedding, asking them to host our 40th was a no brainer. They are professional, accommodating and most importantly, their food is always delicious. Thank you Kanchan’s for continuing to help us make such great memories!

I went on my friend party service was very poor food wise little ok.

We used Kanchans for our wedding catering and we ate at the restaurant several times in the leadup to our wedding. The food is delicious and there are a lot of choices on the menu. As a wedding caterer, they are a dream to work with; there are a lot of wedding menu options to choose from, with lots of options for personalisation. They took care of our drinks too with a bar package which kept our guests really happy, and made sure everyone was well-fed throughout the day. A lot of our friends said it was the best wedding food they'd ever had! Would not hesitate to recommend them for a meal or for a wedding, we feel very lucky to have worked with Kanchans!

Attended a birthday dinner here, setting was lovely and food was delicious esp, aubergine and potato dish and chilli paneer.

The fish amritsari, Murgh malai tikka and biryani was good. But kanchans chicken handi lacked taste. The ambience is lovely. Service needs improvement. Overall good experience

The food was great, the whole atmosphere was relaxing. Menu has a great options for vegetarians.

Lovely Indian restaurant and banquet hall. Mainly Punjabi (North-West Indian) cuisine with a wealth of vegetarian, vegan and meat-based options for all types of diets. Beautiful interior and a classic old-school vibe. Starters were incredible, arguably the highlight, and the portions throughout the meal were all generous sizes. Lots of different alcoholic drinks on offer too, completing the requirements for a big celebration dinner.

Few Staffs are rude otherwise it is good here....@Banqueting

This is an only option that i can do if i have option of 0 review I'll do that because today by mistakely i ordered from Kanchans through uber eats and i called to try the restaurant and requested to cancel that ordered because i couldn't found any option of cancel order on uber app and they said like they can't cancel it how's that possible many times i ordered through Uber in past as well i did this mistake and i placed orderd in Indian aroma restaurant and than i contact to the restaurant and to they helped me out but here in Kanchans its really disappointed answer they given like that they can't cancel the order It's terrible.

What is wrong with you guys? This is the best way to get a bad name and destroy your business. Why do you not clearly mark your parking spaces? We arrived early for an event. Checked twice that we were in the right parking space by ringing the restaurant and describing the road signs but it looks like we were in the wrong place and will be fined £95 for the privilege. Disgusting

Visited Kanchans last Thursday night for an event. As is often the case with this venue, we found the food to be abysmal! Quite frankly, I've had better meals on an aeroplane. Why the locals keep booking this place for events is a mystery to me. Avoid at all cost!

We attended a family gathering at Kanchans - Gants Hill . The standard of the food was very poor including the service being appalling. The waiters were rude and d id not acknowledge the fact that the food was cold - they did serve in timely manner . I would not recommend anyone visiting this place especially on a special occasion .

Had cold and pre-made nan bread. When it was shown to waiter, they microwaved and returned the same. Aparently they made the nan beforehand and by the time waiter delivered, nan was cold and as a result it became hard and just chewy!! When manager was told that it was cold right from beginning, he was extremely rude and walked off saying it was our fault!! When he returned to the bar, he showed finger!! Food price is '5*' but service is '-5*'!! Extremely disappointing!! Shame on you Kanchans!!

Good function in their suite with Indian food below the standard we have been accustomed to. There is no disabled toilet which was a problem, and the ones there were not clean.

Tasteless food..You can say bland...Ordered Chicken Handi & Aalloo dum both of which were way behind the real taste. Only looks of the Restaurant doesnt matter.The backbone of it is the food taste.Kindly ask your chef to work on it.

We walked past this restaurant on the way to Caraway. In hindsight we should have kept walking. The starters were bland, the dips were ice cold and no salad with the popadoms. After the starters is where it started to go really down hill. For main I ordered the chicken biryani. I could only have one piece of chicken before I realised it tasted of washing up liquid (to be fair it was the best taste throughout the meal). We also ordered onion kulcha that was bland. Surprisingly, this main was recommended by the owner himself. Now for the funny part - the side salad was two slices of onion, two cuts of lemon and two chillies, all so dry it looks like it’s been on holiday in Benidorm. So to sum up, stay well away from this place. It’s so bad it should be shut down.

Really bad food. Tasted awful and mashed up together and added sauces. Worst thing was j had the worst food poisoning for days. I'd packed the food we couldn't eat but binned it next day. Stay clear ftom this place. It needs a hygiene check. When we called them to say what happened they didn't really care either. Never ever will I go here again

AVOID AVOID AVOID- BAD FOOD AND WORSE SERVICE! We hired the restaurant out for a private party and initially I was dealing with the owner - the communication wasn't great to start off with. I know they deal with this everyday but it was all new to us. We were passed onto the restaurant manager who by far had no people skills whatsoever. Anyway, day of the event - the starters were served but non of the waiters told the guest what dish was what - vegetarians ate no veg dishes without knowing which is absolutely despicable and on a table of 12 only 1 dish of each starter /mains was given. Most of my guests stayed hungry and the others put off by eating non veg food. Its disgusting. The naan bread was tough and chewy, the food wasn't great overall and I definitely wouldn't recommend it. I have since contacted the owner directly with my complaint and messaged him twice with no response. He has been paid for the event and no longer cares! DEFINITELY WON'T RECOMMEND TO ANYONE AND URGE OTHERS NOT TO BOOK. It's a false economy when you think about it - 1 unhappy customer = 65 missed booking because I won't encourage my guests to book here again. Had the owner responded to me like he should have my review would have included that. Bad news travels fast and I will do everything I can to make sure no one I know books with Kanchans.

I wouldn't recommend this place, went for the first time yesterday. The restaurant wasn't very busy about 6 tables in use ordered sheesh kebabs and they were warm on the outside cold inside. Told the waiter and he took it away only to bring back under a minute he had microwaved them. The mains we had lamb, chicken and a veg dish. The chicken when you cut into it was in part raw and smelt off, didn't eat it. Tried to complain and the manager said nothing was wrong. Ended up leaving half of the food uneaten. Paid the bill and left. SERIOUSLY YOU WOULD THINK THAT AN INDIAN RESTAURANT SHOULD BE ABLE TO MAKE DECENT INDIAN CUISINE, WHAT A LET DOWN

Banqueting suite set up and room was lovely unfortunately the food didn't match the decor. Food was below average, disappointing as the 1st visit a couple of years ago was amazing sadly this seems to have gone down as time has passed. Waiting service was ok could do with being more attentive.

Been going to kanchans for about 20 years. The quality was excellent to begin with but has just got better and better over the years. This is a gem of a place with truly mouthwatering dishes. The daal makhani and manchurian is out of this world. Very friendly service as well. Highly recommend ! You will not be disappointed !!!! We ❤ kanchans !!!

Ordered a takeaway from Kanchans and was extremely disappointed. Food wasn't good at all considering the extortionate price. Two Prawns in the curry that were all mushy for £18?! Over £6 for a Keema naan that literally had the tiniest sprinkle of meat on it is ridiculous. Would happily pay the price if it was nice and we enjoyed it. Extremely overpriced for the quality as I think this is more Central London pricing. Wouldn't recommend

A huge thank you to Peter and the team for delivering an amazing early Mother’s Day banquet to my parents today. My parents were most overwhelmed that Kanchan’s went over and above on their customer service by delivering to them (50 mile round trip) for this special occasion. Whilst the pandemic has not allowed my parents to see their family, the delivery from Kanchan’s certainly put a smile on their beautiful faces. And as for the food, they have much missed dining at Kanchan’s and tasting their lovely dishes, which they said was a superb treat for them today. We look forward to dining with you again in your restaurant once it is possible to do so. Once again Peter, thank you so very much for your act of kindness today which made two parents very happy today 🙏🏽. Sonia
