This museum is an excellent way to spend some of your time in Edinburgh. There is so much to see, one visit is not enough! The museum caters well for children, in terms of facilities and things to keep them occupied. We particularly love the natural history rooms, the fashion displays, and the section on science and technology. The cafes are not cheap but the food is good, I can recommend the scones. You can also take your own food. The gift shop is expensive but well stocked if you want a memento of your visit. And it is free to visit with donations welcomed but not mandatory. Whether you're into the natural world, history, technology, the arts or space there's something here for you. It has a small cafe on an upper floor and an area on the ground floor for those who've brought a packed lunch. One thing I would say is a possible lack of toilets. When I was there, it was a holiday, very wet outside and the place was heaving with folks. Queues for the loos were significant. That aside, it's still an absolute must see.
