Lovely pub which pours a great pint of Guinness The best part is the staff. Very nice and friendly. It is also dog friendly up to like 9pm. Before then. On the weekend it does get nosier for the dog though.

Cool bar with great environment..

Can't comment on the food as had none, but everything else was great .. great selection of cocktails and very friendly staff.

Walked out as food haddnt arrived after 1.5 hours.

Tried to rent for 18 all staff stood at door slabbering to everyone, wouldn’t give me my money back and actually grabbed one of my family members!!

It has two floors and backyard, so you can find the place which suits you better

Sat waiting for food for 50 mins but nothing came, waitress was very apologetic and said head chef hadn’t appeared. We decided to leave and they still charged for drinks, disappoint and definitely won’t be back!

Had of their new menu, chicken & chips is beautiful aswell as the beefy boy hotdog, tasted fresh, staff super friendly aswell, easily best place in Bangor for drink or food 👍

Great place. Went for a couple of pints, sat outside in the beer garden which seemed to go on forever! Will definitely visit again.

Absolutely awful, one of the workers had the audacity to kick me out for apparently bringing in my own alcohol, then he was also selling alcohol to under 18s without ID, to finish off the person who served me was also the one who kicked me out for no reason, i tried to tell him but he concluded with i seen you drink the alcohol, even though i didn’t. Honestly the reviews may differ but the expierence had wasn’t particularly pleasing. That worker should be sacked for good. I can’t believe something like that would happen, i also rang their number to file a complaint it was then later procedded with the same person who gave me verbal abuse over the phone. Absolutely disappointed in this service.

I was in Bangor visiting friends and we decided to come here. Had an amazing night and some quality drinks. Would highly recommend checking in his place out nd will visit again next time I'm in NI.

All right wee spot only thing is there's that wee door in the place where the fire is and I swear it always smells like dog food, I've never seen what's in it so I'm not sure what the smell actually is but it always puts me in a bad mood because it reminds me of when my dad made me eat dog food for peeing my bed

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Great burgers with your choice of toppings and these are all free. Plus you have to try the dirty fries. A place we'll definitely return.

Just got out a taxis on refuse to come in (Bad spelling as dyslexic)

Was here on Friday night with my wife and we were unfortunate enough to witness 2 young women being verbally and physically abused by the door staff. They were sitting together chatting and were asked to leave the premises over someone being "cheeky" the week before. One girl said it was her first ever night in Bangor and was told in no uncertain terms to "GET OUT TO F*%K, reatedly, while being manhandled and squared up to. Even though they were leaving, and said as much, they were still pushed out repeatedly while being verbally abused with personal comments about their weight/appearance etc... What an absolutely disgusting experience for anyone to witness, or be on the receiving end of. And after speaking to the girl outside, who's first night it was in Bangor, (we left soon after), it turns out she is a school teacher. We recorded most of the event and are trying to find the girls involved for their approval to publish it online. I'm trying not to lower myself here, but it must be said. Your bouncers are absolute scumbags! Disgraceful isn't a strong enough word!

Nice bar with beer garden dog friendly

One of the best pubs in Bangor , the staff ,service and atmosphere were second to none , cannot find any fault with it , an the beer garden was the best I've been in since I was in Spain

It's not really my scene, bit hipster for my liking. It's a bit more expensive but has a different kind of choices in beers and whiskey. Plenty of space in the beer garden and open later than other bars in Bangor

Had a few drinks here,a nice clean and not over priced either place and ran very well.

Not a great atmosphere at all. Bar man obviously not very happy with his work. Had a drink but in the end didn't order food as it doesn't say much about the standard of burgers when the staff order in take away pizzas for themselves. We left and enjoyed a meal over the road with much more friendly staff.

Very pleasent to fine a dog friendly pub, even my life partner got a pint of beer.

Went to see a band upstairs with my friend who is 17. 2 hours in she went to bar was asked for ID then instantly kicked out. I told them I was 18 and had ID they said they didn’t care and i was thrown out aswell. Didn’t even get the chance to produce ID even though half the people upstairs including the band were underage. RIDICULOUS will never be back

I have been staying away from the restaurant for a long time as the food was not very good . I went back for a meal last week .the food is fantastic... I would highly recommend it... you will see me in the restaurant most Thursdays for steak night... amazing food ...

Popped into this place as it hosted a pop up burger bar. Quick service excellent food a very happy family of four. Burgers are freshly made on site, tea and coffee available. Would visit again if it hosts the pop up burger bar.

Great bar! Inside has plenty of seats and the outdoor beer garden is always busy. Food is good! Live music on most nights, Friday nights music is always the best. Saturday night usually involves a DJ and it doesn't match the vibe of the bar so most people head outside.

Lunchtime Saturday, dark, cold and empty. Service very slow and we were the only ones eating. Food was quite good but massively overpriced. Staff were polite but kept nipping out to get takeaways for their lunch which they ate in the bar! Won't be back...

We visited on a sunny Saturday, and sat out the back in their beer garden. It's a dog friendly place so there were a few furries hanging out in the sun, which was lovely. The staff are super-friendly and helpful. The menu is varied and has a few good veggie/vegan offerings too. But most importantly, the food is very tasty. It's a cool, casual dining spot and we will definitely be back.

Without a doubt Hop House is the busiest bar in Bangor. This could be due to the ever dynamic deals they have on, the focus on having different types of entertainment every night of the week or perhaps it's the superb standard of service. It's most likely an even combination of all the aforementioned reasons. If Bangor is the Hub of the North, Hop House is the Hub of Bangor.

Drinks can be a tad dear, although the wide range available (including outcider) makes up for this. Food is always cooked to a good quality, never any problems, very tasty. Features a nice fire that heats the place up, sometimes its needed. Beer garden is also very good. Staff are attentive but not intrusive. Good atmosphere overall.

Had sharing platter here today with friends. Our 4th visit, our friends 1st visit, on our recommendation. It was good but not as good as usual. Very disappointing for us as we had highly recommended this place to our friends. It seems they changed chef just a few days ago. That might explain why not so good this time. Smaller portions and no roast beef. No roast beef ....on a Sunday!! The place was buzzing because of the flea market outside and upstairs, which was great to see but what spoiled the experience for us today was the singer in the bar. While she had a very good voice she was too loud for the small room. We were seated at a table directly in front of her and could hardly hear ourselves think never mind carry on a conversation. When out for lunch on a Sunday with friends it's conversation and good food we are looking for. If I want live music in a bar I normally go out on a Saturday night.! My husband and I will be back but hope the new chef does take into consideration what Hop House is renowned for.. it's very tasty and plentiful roast sharing platter.!

Always a great atmosphere, hubby and I come here for a drink quite often and food maybe once a month. Food is always great and the servers are very good. Well earned 5 stars.

Went with 3 family members on 23rd December in the upstairs bistro. A Christmas party was in so probably explains the wait between courses. We waited an hour between starter and main which was too long, however food was excellent. Staff were lovely and apologetic.

Really well cooked food and great craft beer selection. Staff were so great they even brought my wife a free hot lemon and honey because she had a cold and then they insisted we take the last of the honey home when we left. Really generous and thoughtful gesture and I'll definitely be back again to try some more off the menu.
