Jumbo Fish And Chips in Aberdeen City

Visited long before closing time. Very disappointed as the chips were cold which there is no excuse for. Fish was decent but not great waiting on them to make it no reason for it to be lukewarm. Won’t be back £10 standard supper rip off for what I got

Went to Jumbo’s fish and chips with a few friends. The fish was nice, friendly staff and reasonable price. Will definitely comes back!

Been going here about once a month for maybe 10 years but noticed last couple of times the quality was really poor. 4 standard haddock suppers, chips where pale and bland but the fish was just awful on all 4 suppers. Fish was as thin as a mcCoy crisp and just all batter, whatever the weight of the haddock before it’s about half now and not worth any money at all. Place has seemingly been bought over and quality has hit the floor. Won’t be back again, yes we only spend about £50 a month normally in here but that’s every month for 10 years. Owners are not stupid they are obviously greatly reducing the quality of the products whist increasing their prices. Very good way to ruin your business. Shocking shocking quality and won’t be back

Awful! We order 2 meals one with mince pie and chips and other with chicken fillets and chips! The pie wasnt very good but the chicken was dreadful, when i bit into it it looked black almost like mouldy and tasted dreadful, 24 hours later and i could not stop being sick and the other end. I put it down to the chicken for all i ate if it! Shame as this used to be a great chipper

Quite simply the best sausage supper I’ve ever had. Chips were great, sausages tasty and the curry sauce was superb. I’ll be back next week for sure :-)

Jumbos seems to have been taken over by a new owner and it’s quite disappointing what they have done, menu changes so you can’t get suppers, prices increased and food quality decreased. Chips always seem to be under cooked and sometimes the batter is aswell. It seems they are just taking advantage of the fact that people in culter don’t have another chipper close and know that they will get business regardless. Jumbos is just a hit or a miss now :(

Have not been to Jumbos for some time. Returned tonight but was very disappointed with fish suppers ordered. Standard Haddock overcooked and very dry, batter didn’t taste fresh. Chips were pale and underdone. Won’t be returning.

Very disappointed with fish suppers tonight fish overcooked chips barely warm and as if sitting for a while we usually go to cowshed which is always excellent and piping hot but as we were passing thought we would give it a try again

Hadn't been for a while, as we had noticed the quality had slipped. Decided to try it again and can honestly say that it was one of the best fish suppers I've ever had! The haddock was fresh and firm, the batter light and crispy and the chips (twice cooked?) were fluffy and crispy!

Stopped here randomly and this was one of the best fish suppers I have ever had. Fresh and crispy- not greasy. Service was great too. Highly recommend and will be back if passing through again.

I presume Jumbos trades on passing and tourist custom rather that repeat business, being located on the Royal Deeside. That would explain why they can't be bothered and happy to serve old crusty overcooked fish and dry chips. Peas are out of a fridge and re reheated in a microwave oven on oder. It had disaster written all over it whilst ordering food, and we should have left there and then...but we didn't. Awful. Genuinely the worst fish and fish I have ever eaten. Not recommended.

Heard great stuff about this place so it ought I’d give it a go . Ordered macaroni pies and to my astonishment they didn’t deep fry them. Still a bit cold in the middle too very disappointed.

First class . Fish was beautiful and chips were nice and crisp . Been going here for a long time and would recommend to try it . Staff are very friendly and polite . 5stars and 10 out of ten .

I have not had a fish supper for a while. Glad I choose Jumbos. Thanks Jumbos we will be back again.

Absolutely awful all the scraps in the chips and u could hardly taste the fish has gone down hill so much will not be going back so disappointed used 2 be brilliant

have had a number visits to the local chipper jumbos in peterculter and had varied results on the quality of the frying/cooking, for myself it is always a fish supper and found on many occasion the fish is overcooked the tail end especially have asked for a lighter batter as in taking out of the fryer earlier last night 14/11/20 was the worst, 1 jumbo haddock supper and 1 standard supper the standard was dissipated the jumbo was so dry and batter was well overcooked order total £17 + this review as said above is over a number of visits .. my advice is if you own a fish and chip shop invest in employing a fryer who knows his or her stuff ..1 lost customer

He sido cliente de Jumbo's durante años, disfruto de sus cenas de pescado y las recomiendo a mis amigos.Anoche hice un pedido familiar y me dijeron que debía estar allí hasta las 6 pm para recogerlo. Como no se permite la entrada de personas a las instalaciones, me dijeron que tenía que esperar afuera y un miembro del personal me llevaría mi pedido. En estos tiempos de Covid - 19 eso es totalmente aceptable y estoy bien con eso, de hecho lo prefiero.Sin embargo, llegué temprano y el lugar está lleno de gente, muchos hogares diferentes, todos mezclados sin distanciamiento. Decidí obedecer las reglas incluso si su personal no se molesta en hacerlas cumplir y esperar afuera. Sin embargo, era obvio que yo era un idiota porque la gente que pasaba se paseaba dentro y hacía pedidos y tenía la comida muy por delante de mí. El personal me lanzó una mirada ocasional como "¿para qué está merodeando por la puerta?" Después de 15 minutos de estar de pie obedeciendo sus propias reglas, me di por vencido y me fui.¿Cuál es el sentido de tener covid - 19 reglas, decirme las reglas por teléfono si no las hace cumplir adentro y por qué no enviar a un miembro del personal a preguntarme mi nombre para que pueda obtener mi pedido?Muy decepcionante, todos estábamos ansiosos por sus cenas de pescado.

Been going here for 5 years now, by far the best chipper in town and one of the freshest and best cooked fish there is. The staff at Jumbo’s always greet you with a happy smile and welcoming face. 👍🏽

La masa parecía sucia con manchas oscuras y el pescado estaba demasiado cocido.Muy decepcionado porque nuestra familia visitó Londres y me encanta el pescado y las patatas fritas aquí.

A fines de noviembre, estábamos pasando Jumbos cuando nos detuvimos para cenar Gammon Steak, pero nuestra suerte se había agotado y habíamos terminado su suministro ese día, así que optamos por dos cenas de pescado Haddock. Always, it's pretty busy and that tells you it's good. Our family had good sized portions of fish and a more than adequate quantity of chips. Both the fish and chips well cooked. It's a good meal.

Pedí una gran cena de abadejo desde aquí y me sentí un poco decepcionada. Solo una porción de eglefino (que no era tan grande) que estaba ligeramente recocido y los chips estaban empapados y un poco blandos. Tampoco es barato, a casi 8. 50 por una rebanada de pescado! No volvería corriendo

Going by previous reviews we were looking forward to a fish supper. Opted for the large portion so we could share but the size of the fish was no bigger than normal portion.

After several days of disappointing fare in Aberdeen, I gave Jumbo Fish and Chips a try. I was not disappointed! The fish was excellent, tender, tasty ands crispy, and thch chips were cooked to perfection. My only complaint was that I had too many chips and couldn't finish them (much to my disappointment)! I'll just have to get used to eating bigger portions before I go back the next time!

Bitte beachten, man kann nicht dort essen, nur zum Mitnehmen. Wir hatten 4 x fish and chips und die Portionen waren riesig und es war absolut superlecker. Der beste Fisch, den wir in Schottland hatten - wirklich. Preislich fast unschlagbar. Die Auswahl ist recht groß, es gibt Hamburger und Pizza und alles mögliche. Echt Top.

After being unable to find somewhere to eat in Peterculter for dinner before 6 p.m the chip shop was the last stop.

This the most delicious Fish n Chips in the whole Aberdeen ever!!!! Compare to other Fish n Chips, Jumbo knows the best. The staffs are so friendly. We always had Jumbo's Fish n Chips every Friday night! Loving it!!!!

Small haddock fish supper 5 stars! It wasn’t small at all: really generous portion boxed beautifully. Couldn’t help munching it on the way home: so delicious and fresh.

Came here recently and will say it was quite expensive and the portion sizes were a bit misleading, i.e. the jumbo fish supper and the normal fish supper appeared to be the exact same. Other than that the food was quite tasty.

Passati di qui, ci siamo lasciati attrarre da questa sosta veloce. Certo, difficile fare male il fritto in Scozia. Buoni gli anelli di cipolla, patate nella media, pesce ok. I prezzi giustamente bassi. Si apprezza la pulizia frequente da parte del personale (rigorosamente cinese).

Hace un mes estábamos pasando por elefantes, pero paró para pedir dos Gamon Steak cenas. Cuando llegamos estaban calientes y gran valor de tuberías cada cena tenía 2 filetes gamon en el paquete con un montón de patatas fritas. La comida no estaba grasienta y patatas fritas eran preciosas y esponjosas y suaves. Excelente relación calidad-precio y un servicio estupendo. Los propietarios saben tratar a los clientes de esto debería hacer que los clientes vuelvan para repetir negocios.

Siempre enormes porciones de pescado y patatas fritas. Vale la pena la espera, ya que este lugar siempre está lleno. Hemos estado yendo allí durante años y nunca he tenido una mala cena. Fácil de llegar aparcado, el personal es siempre amable. Recomendado!

Go to this chipper as I live in the area, always good food and excellent service, they always have a smile on their face for you and nothing is too much trouble, they know there regular customers by name which is a rare thing nowadays. Also sell a large range of foods, not just your regular fish and chips, their is quite a menu to choose from and waiting times are fast, so your never long.

As visitors to Scotland from New Zealand we relied on recommendation from locals. Our son's father in law took us to Jumbo's for fish and chips to takeaway. He ordered a fish meal for me - a huge piece of fish and enough chips to feed a family - I failed to finish it all! He and his wife shared one of these dinners - there was certainly enough for two! The fish was well cooked and chips very good. Service was very friendly and they even had a brief chat while serving it all up - recommended

I was driving out to Midmar to visit friends on Friday evening and stopped by Jumbos to pick up dinner for everyone. I arrived at 6.03pm (time was on the receipt), ordered and took a seat. After a while I realised I'd been sitting there ages and people who had come in after me were getting their food. It had been about 25 minutes so I asked the staff who I heard say 'Oh dear' - they had obviously lost our order/forgotten about us. No 'sorry' or 'here is a free portion of chips' or anything at all in way of an apology. Wasn't impressed at all. HOWEVER............lucky for them....their food was sensational! I am not a huge lover of chippers generally - I am not fond of overly greasy food. However this food was just delicious - crisp batter, fresh fish, big meaty sausages....and huge portions too! No excess grease either. Totally the best chipper I can remember eating in a very long time. It would have been a 5/5 excellent score had it not been for the long wait and lack of apology. But to be fair that poor service was saved especially for me - all the other customers seemed to get their food in super quick time.So to conclude - should you go here? YES. IT IS DELICIOUS. I will go again for sure, but next time I will be more aware of people that come in after me. And as soon as one of them gets their food before me, I will start screaming wildly.

Absolitley amazing fsih guy, too much for one man but not for this man haha! I demolished your freshly cooked and delishus fish along with a mountainous, seemingly insurmountable portion of chips. Top notch fellows. loved it haha good work lads (ad lassied)!!!

Worth the wait for freshly cooked haddock, but don't be pushed into ordering more than you really want - the portions are certainly generous. Friendly service, promptly cooked with lots of choice, although 30% more expensive than an English chippie

For traditional fish shop fare Jumbos is hard to beat. Pizzas aren't the best but everything else is excellent.

One fish supper enough for two people. Very popular place, especially on Fridays, so you may have to wait, but result was freshly cooked.

The fish suppers are nice. The Tan po suck Wong is excellent. I have never tried their pizzas.I recommend the chips!

The staff were liars. I was called forward to get my order but the fish was given to another customer who was obviously a regular. I was told they had run out of chips and would have to wait. Customers were continued to be served.....must be magical chips. When I questioned this it was then I was told had been given to this other customer. No apology, no question of remorse. The time it takes to cook a jumbo haddock and the resolve of mistake meant I was standing in this shop for close to an hour. Do not make plans for the evening if getting a take away here. The shame is this used to be a great takeaway, now it is just an expensive place run by uncaring staff. When I tried to complain to the manager he just said well you have it now....go. They had obviously tried to get me away as fish was not fully cooked. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

The best fish ever not swimming in grease, cooked to order although because it is always so busy you can phone ahead with your order. Staff very friendly and kids get a lollipop while waiting. Far to much chips so we only order one supper and a fish on its own.

Fabulous as always and one of the best fish and chips I have ever tasted. Wish they had one in Westhill. I will only use Jumbos as they are the best for there fresh fish, pies and the chips are amazing big and juicy and plenty of them, lovely people there always happy to see you! I would not bother with any other places for fish and chips, as this is truly the BEST! ☺So cant wait to go back and will always travel to get the best fish and chips, mm mm fine!!

Passing through Peterculter the lovely smell of hot cooking oil drew my attention to the chipper. The service was quick & polite. The place was clean & not that busy for a Friday night. I sneaked off to devour my guilty feast. Sadly it was all overcooked, dry & tasteless. Not one of my best memory's of mock chop & red pudding.

Good and fast service. Fresh fish and tasty meals. Very popular amongst the locals so sometimes have to que for a while. Wish they had some eat-in area as you can only take away here.

Possibly the best fish and chip shop in the area. For a fast food takeaway everything I have tried has been excellent and this recent visit was no exception. A very well run place with friendly and efficient staff.

This is my local take away, this is easily the best chipper in Aberdeen, the food tastes great, and they have wonderful friendly staff.

Been treating us to a Jumbos now and again for a couple of years now. Service is very friendly and the lady always remembers you after a couple of visits and asks how you are! We always order fish and chips. This is by far the best I have had in any chippers/restaurants in aberdeen. I normally phone in our order as the shop is always very busy, even on week nights. Look forward to our next visit!

Whenever I visit Scotland I always enjoy a haddock and chips from this very good family owned fish and chip shop. Tonight our take-a-way was excellent beautiful white fresh fish in a crispy batter and good chips.

Owned by a very Friendly Chinese family, this is one of the best chip shops I've been too. Never been disappointed yet! Only problem, it can get very popular at tea time, so best to phone ahead to avoid a wait!

This family owned take away gem has been a Culter establishment for over a decade. I'm an overseas visitor to the area, but I always make sure that I get a fish supper when I'm there. The menu is quite extensive with much more than fish and chips on the menu. Open 7 days a week from 4 pm.

This spotlessly clean chinese owned fish and chip shop can be relied upon to deliver perfectly cooked haddock and chips time after time. It is friendly, helpful and cooks everything from scratch. The fish is served in cardboard boxes with a greaseproof lining which means it stays hot . They have many other deep fried options and also oven baked pizza but it is for their fish that they really excel.
