Juboraj Rhiwbina in Cardiff

What a horrendous lunch. Food was well below poor! Three mouthfuls in, and I couldn't take it anymore. It felt and tasted like a leftover dinner from the previous night. The hygiene isn't the best either. The owner/waiter couldn't even give a smile, and to top it off, he even tried charging for an evening meal instead of a lunchtime meal, with a play-dumb reaction upon getting the correct bill. This was even after the fact he noticed we hardly ate anything. I will not be returning to this restaurant and suggest to others not to waste their money.

Excellent lunch in a smart, but quiet, family run restaurant. What is wrong with people, queueing for garbage at McDonald's instead of freshly prepared food in comfort here - and it's probably cheaper too!

Food is very average if not below average. Asked for lamb korma got chicken - it’s also not a korma. The rice taste like boil in the bag rice and not even the decent kind. Spend deer money on well…this. Wouldn’t bother, just go somewhere else.

Best curry I've had in ages. It was very busy a few weeks before Christmas and we did have to wait a good hour for our food but it was well worth the wait. The nan breads were so good, nice and light and my coriander chicken was delicious. Not the cheapest in Cardiff but all 4 of us really enjoyed our meals

Always used to find Juboraj a cut above the rest, but then they got inconsistent. Sometimes food would be flavourless, or they would miss items out of takeaway orders. No point in paying slightly higher prices than another Indian restaurant/takeaway for similar quality food. Just not as good as I remember as a kid years ago.

Booked a table on line for 7.45 New Year's Eve. We were really looking forward to visiting the Juboraj. At 16.50 this evening (New Year's Eve) received a phone call saying they cannot accommodate us! Obviously to late to get a booking anywhere else. Asked if they would deliver for us. A flat NO! Shocking customer service. Will never visit you Juboraj again!

Came here for an evening out as a party of 17 people. Wonderful spread of food, a pre ordered selection of starters and mains. All the food was delicious and everyone had a great time. The service was excellent, the staff were very friendly and attentive.

I have been going here for years and have never had a bad meal. Food is always top rate.The staff are excellent especially Liton, Limon and Jay. The attention they pay to their customers is second to none. Always greeted with a smile and they make you feel at home. The chef, Zilu, really knows his way around the kitchen he is an amazing chef. I will carry on going here for as long as they are there.

Food was alright I guess but the standard of service was hilarious. We’ve had several meals here with equally appalling service but this was beyond. Thankfully my mates have great chat but I won’t be eating here again. Awful people.

I used the delivery service and the best part of the meal was the fact that it arrived quickly. I opened up the bag to find that a lid was loose on the main course and everything inside was covered in oil. After reheating the food because it arrived lukewarm, the meal itself was bland and the meat poor quality; fatty and with a piece of gristle which put me off the rest of the curry. Maybe I was unlucky, but I really don't get why people rave about the Juboraj. It is best avoided, choose other local restaurants like India Gate or Mowglis instead.

Nice and quick on collection, as the restaurant was closed I suppose. Food was fantastic will definitely return.

Take away - Even during this strange period, they excel. Person serving is very aloof and unwelcoming, but the standard and quality of the food makes up for it

We popped into the Juboraj recently to take advantage of their excellent lunch offer (2 courses for £9.95 although not available in December). The food was superb and the staff very friendly. We had the Vegetable Samosa and Aloo Chat to start followed by the Prawn Bhoona which comes with pilau rice and chapatti. We can't recommend the Juboraj enough.

Takeaway was best we've ever had. Wide menu choice to suit everyone - mango chicken was delicious. Arrived on time and good value. Will definately use again

Curry muy mediocre a un precio más caro que lugares muy superiores (Mowglis, Jamuna, celebridades). Aprecio que sea un restaurante concurrido, pero el servicio fue excepcionalmente lento y los saludos no son tan cálidos y amables como los de la competencia. We booked a table for 7 people for a small birthday celebration. We arrived for 6:30pm and were surprised how busy it seemed for a Monday evening.We thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Our meals were delicious and the staff were friendly and obliging. I hadn't been to the Juboraj for many years but will certainly be returning.

El exterior se ve encantador pero el interior estaba anticuado. Teníamos el camarero más gruñón y antipático que puedas imaginar y la comida era muy sosa. Demasiado caro para lo que obtienes. Microondas de curry mucho mejor.

Fui por un curry temprano, 5. Las 30 de la noche aprovecharon el trato de la tarde. Les gusta saber de antemano, pero vale la pena llamarlos para saber qué se les ofrece. Como comentario, siempre pregunte si tienen ofertas al hacer el pedido.Sus entrantes son excelentes, la mariposa del Langostino es prácticamente inmejorable. Se recomiendan los platos de Tikka Masala.Ir temprano significa que obtienes un gran servicio y el restaurante se llena a tu alrededor creando un ambiente. Se ha convertido en una visita regular ahora!

I popped in to the Juboraj recently and was very impressed by the organisation of the Restaurant. We ordered a Takeaway and didn't have to wait long for our food despite the Restaurant being very busy.The food was also very nice. No complaints here and well done the Juboraj for being so efficient!

We havent been here for a while, but deceided to give it a go for a change. We had booked for a Saturday evening - good job as it was really busy. when we arrived our table was ready at the rbooked time, adn the srvice was excellent form the off - attentive but not in your face. One of our party was Celiac - when they called in advance the restaurant had ordered in Gluten Free beer specially. Additionally they were knowledgeable about the dishes that were Gluten free.I had onion bhajis for starter and kohlapuri chicken for main - the food was excellent and everyone enjoyed their meals. At the end of the night the bill was also reasonable.I note from other reviews that people complain about the decor. Whilst it is a little dated the restaurant was clean. At the end of the day I came for the food and not to take part in an episode of changing rooms. All in all an excellent evening - thank you

The food was amazing , after a longtime had proper Indian curry. Chicken jalfrezi was delicious, my wife enjoyed their chicken tikka biryani. Recommend to anyone.

Oh dear where do I start!!! We normally frequent The Empire in Roath - however after seeing on trip advisor that this Juboraj was the no1 listed in Cardiff I wanted to see what the competition was - Put it this way ... there isn’t any!!! The minute you walk In it’s so obvious how dated it is way too much “terracotta paint” for my liking! Looked the same with the naff furniture as it did back in the 90’s The staff here are no where near as friendly and didn’t even bothered to try and have even the smallest of conversations - we choose a wine (not too bad a price) and they brought it in a “Foil wine cooler!” The ones you can pick up in B&M bargains for £1 - not even an ice bucket! The food wasn’t brilliant- I had chicken makani - it was watery & bland (they don’t do 1/2 n 1/2 - not posh enough for North Cardiff I guess) then to top it off they had a “pub quiz” going on in the next room with the doors wide open!! If I’d have wanted a pub quiz I would’ve gone to my local and had a curry for a fiver!!! Over priced! Dated! Unfriendly !! Definitely doesn’t deserve top spot!! Sorry

After a longtime we had proper Indian curry, the chicken korma was spot on. My wife enjoyed lamb bhoona. Can recommend anyone, we will visit soon

We love the Juboraj in Rhiwbina so much, the staff are so welcoming and always look after us. The food is always outstanding and is the best around in my opinion. They are always happy to accommodate your dietary requirements or make a dish a particular way you like. We eat here every week and have done so for many many years. I must reccomend this gem of a restaurant to everyone. You will not be disappointed ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

My wife and I visited the Juboraj for the first time since living in the area for 5 years. I will say that we are lovers indian food and eat it two or three times a week on average. We decided to go for a fairly early meal, we had not been drinking but I did have a small bottle of beer with my meal. We had starters and a main each which was quite tasty, although we both came to the same conclusion about the chicken, which was cubed and seemed processed and firm... Anyway, we had our meal , paid and walked home... I myself was fine until about 1.30am which was the first of my 6 visits to the bathroom with severe gripe pains... this continued into the next day with an elevated temperature and severe headache... I slept most of the day apart from the frequent visits to the bathroom... my wife's symptoms did not start until mid morning, same sort of pattern, causing her to miss a shift at work, our recovery took about three days. My wife and I have never experienced stomach problems such as this for many years and I am in no doubt that it was the result of something ingested at this restaurant!

We visit the Juboraj on at least a quarterly basis with our extended family.

Visited recently for a family get together. As always we received a warm welcome from the more than accommodating staff.

Great food and service for an event held at home to celebrate a wedding. Food excellent as always and all delivered and set up with no fuss. Would highly recommend Juboraj for an all round fantastic experience.

Naan bread perfect,chutney tray perfect. But chicken korma was watery with small cubes of chicken that looked like the ones you get in bags from Makro. Lamb was rubbery instead of pieces being easily separated with a spoon. Duck nice but dish bulked up by lots of large pieces of onion. Too expensive and not good enough, but no doubt the Rhiwbina hordes will still visit.

Just had food here with the family and i have to say what an amazing resturant. Both food and staff were amazing. If your looking for a traditional Indian restaurant then this is the place for you. We will definitely be returning..

Visited after long absence, hoping for a better meal. However, we left underwhelmed. My makhani chicken, though quite tasty, was just odd- sliced chicken in a thin sauce. Husband’s lamb madras had similarly thin sauce with tough lamb. There are far better restaurants in Cardiff.

I have been many times over the years and had takeaways from there and they have all be excellent and the service excellent too.

Not sure where do the glowing reviews come from, to be honest. We did like the setting and the service was friendly but the food servings were small, pricey and we had to wait too long. Starters were ok but the mixed grill (£18, by the way!!) was a disappointment. Will not be coming back

Have been to all of the Juboraj restaurants many time but visited on Saturday for a takeaway and every part of the meal was terrible and not cheap at nearly £50. Chicken Tikka was microwaved, Curry was floating in oil, watery and bland and small dry pieces of meat were more like beef than lamb, looked like a trainee had cooked it. Sorry Juboraj you need to improve to keep up with the competition.

Not being from around the area meant I had to rely on online reviews. I had initial reservations upon making my booking, as the gentleman's telephone manner was very abrupt, however don't be put off. On the night the venue, staff and food were all on point. The venue is very well presented and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. When the food arrived it was hot, plentiful and cooked to our taste. Overall the experience was amazing and very reasonably priced.

Enjoyed the food, it is generally good. However, it is too expensive and the service is not the greatest. There is not a lot of choice of restaurants in North Cardiff. 10% service charge on tables of 5 or more is taking the mick.

Had a Juboraj Special £17 but found the lamb grizzly. With 3 others but we were not impressed with food or service. Got our drinks wrong twice and had to ask several times for water. They used to be excellent.

It was well worth the wait. Having been there right at the start and then moving away, we thought why not try on a visit back to wales.

Lovely menu choices, friendly professional staff, and delicious early evening meal! We arrived at 5 on opening and had a prompt service. We will definitely go again to try other dishes.

The juboraj is a mainstay of the Cardiff curry scene. It hasn’t changed over the years, and it doesn’t need to.

Visited here a few times. There is an early evening menu now available or there is the full menu available at all other times. The restaurant is on the flat which is important for my father who can not climb steps easily. Parking is hit an miss as there is no car park, so its roadside parking. Lovely food and would go back again or order a takeaway.

Reservamos una mesa para las 8 pm, pedimos bebidas y les aconsejamos que las bebidas estarán en nuestra mesa, no nos sentamos hasta las 8. 30, tenía mucha sed, se olvidaron de nuestras bebidas en la mesa, pedimos 2 platos de curry suave y tuvimos que pedir yogur ya que eran demasiado picantes, un plato era langostinos pero dejaron la cáscara y las colas en todos las gambas para obviamente abultan el plato, las papas se cocinan demasiado y se secan, también se retiraron los platos de otras mesas y decidieron poner el carrito enfrente de nuestra mesa mientras comíamos, por el precio que paga, se espera una mejor comida y servicio, Es nuestro restaurante local pero no volveremos.

Después de 15 años, esta será mi última visita. Mi esposo ha estado comiendo aquí por más de 20 años. Cada vez que hemos estado en los últimos 3 años ha empeorado y empeorado. Esta noche es la última vez.

Apareció a los 21. 00 y pedí un cordero rogan josh, pollo dupiaza, arroz pilau X 2, keema nan, peshwari nan, cebolla bhajee, carne samosa. . . Bastante estándar pero a los 31 no es barato! ! ! El restaurante tenía unas pocas mesas y no estaba tan ocupado como he visto antes.

Cada vez que veo a Murgi Massala en un menú, debo tenerlo. Pollo tikka cocinado en cordero picado, picante y picante. Algunos lo hacen con un huevo duro pero no aquí. I came here with a friend who lives across the road from the restaurant. I was impressed by the friendly staff and good food.

This is without a doubt my favourite restaurant I have ever been to. We go very regularly as a family and have done for years but have never thought to review, always a good atmosphere and service. The food is great in particular I recommend anything with the spinach sauce e.g. chicken saag, saag aloo and the garlic naan is sublime.

Having experienced a takeaway from here once before and not being entirely satisfied with the overall quality, I decided due to time restraints etc and as the Restaurant is local, I would try them once again on a Saturday evening. After returning home and opening the contents, I could see the tray containing my chicken madras was only half filled and to make matters worse contained mostly oil. The chicken itself was rock solid and barely chewable and the sauce can only be best described as average.

10 of went to the Juboraj. We'd booked for 7.15 and did wait in the waiting area for a while before being ushered to our table however we all ordered a drink which arrived quite quickly, which made the waiting more pleasant. We all ordered several different starters and main meals and really enjoyed our evening. We were the last to leave the restaurant and could feel that the waiters were waiting for our departure to set up for the following day.

Three of us went lastnight to the Juboraj I can honestly say the staff were a pain, I felt like they didn’t leave us alone to enjoy our meal it felt like every five minutes they were asking if the meal was ok or if we needed anymore drinks, put me off the place I think we will stick to our usual janata palace where we don’t get harassed and plus it’s not over priced like the Juboraj and plus it felt like the staff at the Juboraj were waiting for us to leave and they didn’t even give us a chance to look at the bill properly either just stuck the card machine on the table so I won’t be returning again.

Having had some lovely meals in the past - unfortunately tonight’s visit was disappointing. It was very unwelcoming from the moment we arrived (it was extremely busy but we had booked). The service was poor at best. One of the side dishes was incomplete and one main course was completely omitted. They hastily brought us a dish which clearly wasn’t what we had ordered. We felt rather fobbed off and our feedback dismissed. Unfortunately we won’t be returning in a hurry.

We were in a large party of people attending a function in a side room adjacent to regular diners. There were 76 of us. Both my husband and I are not huge lovers of Curry, but this meal was fantastic . We had a choice of 4 Curries. A lovely mixture of vegetables and rice, all cooked to perfection and lovely and not and served on not played (A definite thumbs up for that.

We have been to this restaurant many times but really disappointed with the takeaway we had tonight. Samosas starter were just 2 and the smallest we have ever had. The Juboraj prawn starter was just one prawn in its shell which looked quite large but when the meat was removed lucky if it was 2 mouthfuls and it cost over £6! Amount of chicken in the curries was about half the amount compared to local takeaway and could have really benefited from some salt. This was supposed to be a real treat as we had to travel quite a distance and it cost about twice the price of our local takeaway. Definitely won’t be making a return visit or recommending to anyone!

Very nice, only complaint - onion bahjis were similar to those sold in Iceland! Service fast and friendly, great choice of dishes and reasonably priced.

Visited on Friday with friends and family from London. Disappointed from the start the Papadoms served were sent back as they were more soggy than crispy the table next to us did the same. The starters took 45 minutes to be served and staff had to be reminded that we were waiting for them .When they did turn up it was clear they had been left under a heater for a long period and what taste they had was lost.The main courses were a big improvement in quality and flavour , but all main courses were padded out with onions, peppers and tomato's. The dish that that I ordered was Chicken Shashlik this had 4 half tomato's in and not a much Chicken . I felt embarrassed as I had recommended that we eat here as I had previously had very good service and enjoyed the food in this restaraunt.

Visited the Juboraj on the 28th December to celebrate a 50th birthday with my wife. We were last to arrive because of my wife working late but everyone was happy drinking.

Came here on a Friday night for a curry and a few beers. Service was amazing, the food was stunning - garlic nann was amazing!

I booked a table for our Book Club dinner. We had a friendly welcome and the food was delicious. Sam Warburton was in on the same night - it's his favourite restaurant. Rhiwbina is lucky to have such a good curry house. I work in Rhiwbina and often get a take away - well, it's only right to support local businesses!

We came for a family celebration and I had been to a few of the juboraj restaurants in Cardiff but this branch is by far the best and sets the standard high. They were extremely busy on the night we attended but they worked their best to ensure everything was on time. The food here is amazing, the best Indian meat dishes I have tasted in a restaurant in Cardiff for a long time. Will definitely return. Yes a little pricey, but a quality and standard worth paying for.

Booked a table for 9 at 7.30pm last night for us all to meet up for our monthly get together.The night started with us all huddled together for over an hour in the window seating area while we waited for our table to be ready even though we had booked 2 weeks in advance and had turned up at 7.15pm so we were not late.At 8.15 we were taken to our table a drinks order was taken and the drinks turned up over 20 mins later, the food order was a joke as once ordered it didn't turn up at the table until just after 9.30pm. the food was hot, but of very poor quality and small portions of the mains there was plenty of rice but not enough curry to go with it what a shame.At times the staff were rude and clearly not coping with the amount of bookings but the place was not full.We would not return to this place again in the future and would not recommend anyone to visit when they are busyA disappointment all round shame.

Me and my friends went for a meal on 2/6/17. Firstly we had very slow service for drinks, followed by a half hour wait to take our orders. It was not busy enough to be this slow. When the starters came out they were lovely to be fair, and well portioned. We then had a 45 minute wait for main meals. I ordered a chicken Balti and when the waiter came over he was at the other end of the table, no one else had ordered a balti so my friend said hess balti and i recieved my dish. I have no idea what i had been given, there was no meat in there just potato and sauce. When i told the nearest waiter he rudely said to me "what do you want to do with it? if you eat it i wont charge you" to which i replied I'd like what i ordered please. He replied "ok but it'll take a few minutes" which of course I understood but why be so rude to me? The meal came out shortly and it was nice but i was eating on my own at that point which wasnt nice, all my friends had finished. Now i wasnt expecting any discount when we had the bill, just an apology would of been fine. But neither an apology or discount was offered. Infact for what we had we were quite shocked at how over priced it was.The whole experiance left a bad taste in my mouth and I for sure wont be returning to Rhiwbina Juboraj.
