Formally JRD, I remember when it was on park road years ago, it's a cracking wee place with has everything you need. It's a little pricey, it's ok if your popping in for a few bits, but it's too easy to spend a fortune.

Very good selection of materials and gifts. Crossover between superstore and ironmonger plus a really good cafe 'Broomies' with a great selection of wholesome food and pleasant staff. Ample free parking.

Great prices for Cuprinol and hardware. Excellent afternoon tea with no need to pre-book. All the staff very helpful and friendly. Will definitely be back.

We went in for hay & came out with a doormat,dog treats, over the fence plant pot,food storage box , shed handle & micro shovel ! It's just that kind of shop.

Plenty of stock to suit all in store. The refurbished Café is wonderful.

Great place for a rummage around. What a diverse stock it has. Lots for the tradesman or DIYer. Some things a little pricy perhaps but you get what you pay for. A good garden centre to explore adds to the shopping experience. Nice checkout staff with helpful advice. Cafe available but didn't look inviting for some reason. Worth a visit.

My chicken fillet wrap took way too long. Bad service overpriced and had quite a dull flavour there was also a queue

Original well-stocked DIY store amalgamated with building materials supplier. Excellent range of products and attached restaurant open all day with good range of lunches available.

Great local DIY shop, can find most things there. Definitely recommend the cafe. It has a fenced in play area for toddlers, and the food is brill. *Edit* the toddler play area has been removed. still a nice place to eat

Vast improvement from the bad old days of the former regime. You can see the products now for one thing. Staff still not great but years of mismanagement can't be undone overnight. Good progress.

JRD is one of those places that have a bit of everything and one of those places that you end up buying something even though you didn't intend to. Well I do anyway. Been a while since I've stopped for a fly cup and a piece but it was great at the time.

It's ok. Not like it used to be . Clothing is expensive brands compared to what they used to sell before it was bought over. The range of items has dropped also.

COVID-19 restrictions were in place but even considering this, the wait to get served was unacceptably long. The coffees were very bitter and very weak due to over-extraction. The latte was far too hot and the milk had scalded.The place looks like it needs money spent on it, as the walls were bare, the tables were old and warn, and some of them had napkins under the legs to stop them wobbling. The whole atmosphere felt like someone had put some old tables and chairs in a warehouse.The staff were friendly and I think were doing there best considering the conditions they had to work with.

We had been once years ago and found it to be very good. It was clean and while I can’t recall what we had to eat or drink I remember it was perfectly ok. We popped in for a quick coffee midweek recently and immediately noticed how unkempt it has become. Tables were littered with crumbs and detritus, even the ones which were supposedly ready for use. The floor was covered in dropped food. Now I agree that customers themselves should not make such a mess, but it’s still on the restaurant to clear up after them. We ordered two coffees and a soft drink. The milk for the coffee arrived in a jug with bits of goodness knows what swimming on the surface. My husband asked for a replacement and the next jug as just as bad. By this point we gave up and didn’t dare drink our coffees. Also worth mentioning that during these times of heightened risk, they are handing out chrome table numbers to everyone. Covered in fingerprints and clearly not wiped between use. Also contactless payment still requires you to press the green accept button. So every single person placing an order is fingering that same button. Not seen that anywhere else. A shame they have clearly been unable to maintain the high standards they once had.

this is the place top go for all those DIY things you need. Cafe open, but the real draw is the tools, paint, garden stuff, motor spares, cable, plugs, hooks, ropes, chains, locks and so many other things.

A lot of DIY materials, not quite your B&Q but not bad for a local shop plus it does have a cafe if you need food.

Quite expensive and doesnt always have everything you need but it's more convenient than driving out to b and q which is quite far away.

A great shop, you can usually get what you need for the home and garden here, saving you a trip to a bigger store. I've come here for years and it just gets better. It was a little busy when I was in and social distancing was becoming harder to manage. They could be doing with a one way system for the narrow aisles to help take the stress and akwardness out of meeting others coming the other direction.

Always seem to have what you need somewhere in the shop and really friendly staff.

Normally supplies everything but they are waiting on a lot of new stock arriving.

How dare a place in times of emergency try and RIP off customers by charging £2.29 for a bag of sugar and selling bulk bought pasta resealed in unlabeled and unweighed packets for a RIP off price ..no alarigins declared. No use by date or country of origin,Totally against the sale of goods act ..they should be fined by trading standards..

Had an Americano here recently, which to be fair was reasonably priced, but to add milk they charge £1 for a very small jug, which is poured, right in front of you, from the very same 4 pint carton you buy in Asda for only slightly more than this. Rip off. Out of principle, will not return. Was served by quite a young girl so didn't have the heart to complain directly to her as it's not her fault!

Cafe very busy when we arrived. Ordered a Panini & coffee. Asked if I could have my coffee at same time as Panini but was advised just to take it when I paid. Waited 25 minutes for the Panini. Coffee was finished by this time. Think it would not be unreasonable to be told there would be a wait when I gave my order. Saw several people asking when their order would be. Very disappointing & quite pricey.

Excellent hardware and gardening equipment, household goods and gifts, decorating stuff and a very good restaurant.

Regular customer there, restaurant is little expensive but still pleasant enough to eat at.

The staff at JRD are always extremely helpful and polite. The cafe is fantastic and they always go out their way to accommodate me as I'm alergic to dairy. Would certainly recommend a visit if you are in Ellon.

I usd to enjoy their breakfasts in here although a bit pricey. However one Sunday I went in and breakfast not available so opted for beef stew. It was disgusting, about four pieces of burnt meat and drowned by over cooked vegetables. At £8 I thought this pricey before I received it. This wasn't worth £1.50. One of the biggest problms in here is food is being kept warm under a hot lamp for too long.. Very disappointed
