Jorge’s in Norwich

Nice little restaurant. Portion sizes are not the biggest. Staff are friendly but very busy. If you've an issue with your food you need make sure you tell them as they didn't ask if our food was okay. Quality of meat is good but they are very generous with salt. Too much for my taste but might be okay for others. Wines are good.

After vowing never to eat in motorway services again, we booked this meal as a stop off on our way home from the Norfolk Coast. This is exactly the reason why. The food was all absolutely delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. It's a little place with a relaxed atmosphere. Our children (6 and 8) were the only children in there but I'd recommend it for kids. The staff were lovely with them and they loved the food. They picked the prawns as their favourite tapas choice but ate a bit of everything we chose. The pork ribs and cured meats and beef croquettes were all memorable too but it was all delicious! Also.....the desserts were amazing! We are two sweet tooths and 2 not so much. We had the chocolate mousse (best chocolate mousse ever!), the custard tart (polished off by my son who had originally declared he was full) and the almond tart with lavender ice cream. I'm one of the sweet tooths. The almond tart was not overly sweet and made me feel like a grown-up as a result. It reminded me a little of peanut brittle, but won't break you teeth. And my husband (who had a double expresso instead of dessert) happily mineswept whatever he was allowed. We basked in the glory of our excellent decision for the following 3 hour drive home.

Amazing food, best steak I've ever had!

The food here is truly amazing, and the passion of this initimate little restaurant comes through as soon as you step through the door. However, the portions are not overly large, so (for the fish dish) order a side. My partner had the T Bone steak and said it was the best he has ever had. Lovely service staff, so knowledgeable and polite. Lovely restaurant, hoping to go back in June for the tasting menu.

Really love this place. The food is excellent, lovely atmosphere and the staff are fab. We always feel really well looked after without feeling pestered and I feel that's a really delicate balance that they always get right. The creme brulee was particularly good

Fantastic birthday meal with my family.The produce used is of the very highest quality and this makes it stand out from other restaurants. The tuna cervice was fresh and flavoursome, pork and clam main cooked to perfection and the pastel de nate was as good as any we've had in Portugal. Cannot fault.Thank you

Had a seafood platter and a couple tapas’ with my family. High quality seafood and very well layered taste. Would recommend this restaurant for family dinners or even a date.

The place is very cosy but unfortunately we find it very cold, you will need to have a light jacket on you to enjoy the food. The starters (prawns, octopus and pork) was very nice. Unfortunately our main dishes (we took the share plate with the wagyu) were burned and raw at the same time. We asked it for medium rare and came burned rare. The deserts was really nice though. Unfortunately with 1 glass of wine each we were pay around at £200 and i was hungry when i finish my meal. I will give another chance because i saw a lot of opportunities in the dishes.

We visited yesterday evening, the restaurant is at the entrance to a little courtyard and is nice a perfect setting. The staff were very friendly and as for the food wow. I started with octopus then we shared a platter of meat (iberico pork, beef, chicken) and opted for some prawns on the side and a salad. The food was all beautifully cooked with a great selection of wines for pairing. The meat was so tender it just melted in the mouth. Didn’t really have room for dessert but I couldn’t say no and went for the Almond tart with lavender ice cream. The dessert was unbelievably good and I highly recommend it. The tart was so light and tasted great, especially with the lavender of the ice cream. We will definitely will make the journey back.

Booked for my birthday with my partner. Really enjoyed our food. I just didn't know it was tapas night on Tuesdays as I was looking forward to having the lobster I seen on the photos. Will return again on a Saturday hopefully it will be more seafood 😌 We had clams, pork and mushrooms for the starters. Sweet potato fries were delicious

Always enjoyed Jorges, we’ve been many times and fair to say one of our favourites in Norwich. Unfortunately our last trip there was well below par. Service poor, Iberican Meat Board unappealing and rather bland, 6 olives is never enough, but unfortunately the fillets for the meat course had not been properly rested and resulted in a more than acceptable amount of blood/juices on the plate. Waitresses seemed less than interested. On a positive note the Monte Capela 2020 - Alfrocheiro was not only delicious but excellent value at £40!

Nothing we ordered today was anything less than first class - from tapas dishes to a quite wonderful rump steak - just delicious. We were served by two waitresses who were happy and very helpful. So glad we managed to finally get to Jorge’s - we will go back

Had dinner here twice in the last month, once as a larger group and as a couple. The food and service was exceptional both times. Great choice of wine and recommendations from waiting staff who were very attentive on both visits. Their Black pork and Wagyu steak is a must.

It was a good experience at Jorge’s. The service was decent and the food had a decent amount of flavour. My tiger prawn was charred on the outside tho so kinda gave the dish a coaly taste. My friends also seemed to enjoy their steak and pork dishes. The best part of our meal were the desserts. It was a decent experience, nothing over the top or spectacular.

Service by Jorge (the owner) and ?his daughter was welcoming and swift. I had black Iberian pork cuts, tender, juicy and quite delicious. The pasteles de nata were quite superb. There was a very good selection of wine by the glass. I shall be back whenever I come to Norwich!

Wow this place just gets better every time we visit. Prossibly more known for its small plates and seafood (which are absolutely amazing) I was blown away with the quality of steak on last visit. Service is great, wine recommendations spot on and food as always amazing. On a previous visit I had octopus and it was the first time I'd ever eaten and enjoyed it. With 2 small kids we don't get out in the evenings often but Jorge's is definitely there as the lunchtime restaurant of choice for us. Cannot recommend enough!

What a great evening. Excellent food, good wine and superb atmosphere. We have been wanting to visit for a while and were not disappointed. We followed the recommendations of our friendly and knowledgeable waitress. She even suggested a cheaper wine to the one we had chosen and were impressed with every aspect of the meal. It is certainly worth a visit if you enjoy Southern European food but do book as it is a small restaurant.

I loved their tapas, I tried pork ribs chargrilled and pica pau. Good quality tasty food. I don't recommend if you wanna experience a nice ambience. This is a very small restaurant, hardly 5 tables. Also please check the time before you plan because they are not open whole day.

It was steak and tapas night so thought we would give it a try. Staff were welcoming and friendly and there was a lovely atmosphere. Unfortunately the food was disappointing. My starter was tiny for almost £7 and was very bland. I then had a sirloin steak which was cooked as I asked but very fatty and a bit gristly. I think I got 3 mouthfuls of actual steak. The waitress also said the peppercorn sauce was spicy and it was the blandest and oddest colour peppercorn sauce I’ve ever had! I also asked for mayo for my sweet potato fries which I’m still waiting for 🤣. We did have the chocolate mousse for pudding which was good and made up for it otherwise I’d have left feeling very hungry.

Wonderful atmosphere, perfect for a small gatherings or date night! Wonderful authentic food. The arroz de marisco, brought me memories of my childhood. Jorge and staff were approachable and kind, great recommendations on the wine section and desserts. Have already recommended it to friends! Will be back!

Really lovely little restaurant, we both had 3 courses including vegetarian options. The vegetarian choice was limited but they are adding to the menu but what is already available is lovely. Great service also.

This authentic Portuguese restaurant has a pleasant interior, and some outside seating. We chose from a small plates menu for lunch, and all of the dishes were delicious. We washed it down with an excellent Portuguese wine that was recommended to us by the front of house staff. Good food and service we would definitely visit again.

We went for a lunch and were blown away with the quality of the service, quality and food. There were 4 of us and we had a mixture of tapas dishes and all were truly fantastic, I would personally recommend then beef croquettes and the octopus. Then we got to desert and had something not on menu a traditional Portuguese sponge desert. Wow something we had never had before and was amazing. But what made the whole experience were the people, we were so well looked after we will definitely be going back and of course recommending to others

A wonderful addition to the Norwich restaurant scene, Jorge’s showcases the best of Portuguese cuisine. The menu is a combination of meat and seafood. Great ingredients beautifully cooked makes for a terrific lunch or dinner. Highly recommended.

Serene atmosphere with calm music. Staff have good and polite dining etiquette. Tasty food, dessert menu looked pricy but items looked appealing. Were thankfully offered vegetarian alternative for traditional meat/pork Portuguese dish.

After spending hours researching restaurants in Norwich, we decided on Jorge’s for a birthday meal based on their reviews and menu. The restaurant itself is lovely, nice ambience etc. The staff were lovely, helpful and friendly. However, we were really disappointed with our meal. We went for the surf and turf steak meal with a large prawn to share at £82. The prawn was average, didn’t taste of a great deal and was quite tough. The steak came blue, which we are fine with, it was not medium rare as described. Unfortunately the steak didn’t have much taste and had so many chewy bits of gristle that it wasn’t enjoyable. We were asked how our meal was after about one mouthful, at which point we said it was nice. When they came to clear the table we fed back on how we found it and they reduced our bill by £10, plus the service charge. We did leave disappointed after having such high expectations. We opted for Jorge’s as we thought it would be amazing, but sadly it wasn’t. We have had sharing steaks at other restaurants before and they have been far tastier, sadly. We didn’t opt for a dessert based on our main and had a toastie when we got home, as we were had so little to eat.

A splendid Portuguese tapas restaurant. Tucked off a main street it is pleasantly atmospheric in a traditional way. The food was all excellent, well priced, with a wine list offering, as you might expect, good native wines (Portuguese wines are so good these days). Service was good. Highly recommended.

We had an amazing meal at Jorge's . Not only was the food served of the highest quality, but the staff and ambience made everything perfect. Very knowledgable about all the ingredients as one of our diners has Coeliac Disease.

We had an evening tapas at Jorges and the quality was excellent. The oxtail croquettes were a stand out but we thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes. The only problem was the skewers looked equally as good, maybe next time.
