Excellent pub that's more like a restaurant inside as food seems to be the main priority. It was tapas night when we visited and the food was delicious. There's also a decent drinks selection with good wine by the glass. There's an extensive selection of bottled and keg beers but only one cask ale available but it was a very well kept Butty Bach. There's no car park but plenty of on-street parking nearby. 2024 update. Very happy to see that little has changed since they reopened following a fire. The Butty Bach has even gone down from £3.90 to £3.80 in the 11 months since our last visit! There can't be many pubs in the UK where that has happened!

Have visited Jolly Colliers on many occasions over the last few years as a couple, with friends and also as a family but today was our first time for Sunday lunch to celebrate my dads 80th birthday. As always we received a warm welcome from Claudio and all the staff but was totally blown away by the quality and quantity of their Sunday lunch! I can now understand why it’s always sold out on a Sunday. My first but not the last and can honestly say it was as good as my own, the gravy is superb! Thank you Claudio and Jess, you really do deserve all the 5 star reviews!!!

Great meal from the starter through to the dessert. I am now in love with the chef who cooked my pie, peas, chips and gravy. I lived it. I have told my wife about this but she had the same meal and she says she has feelings for him too!

The team were very busy but made time to make us feel welcome, our drinks order was taken and arrived promptly. We were informed they’d sold all the chicken, but the other choices on the menu sounded good, the food took hardly anytime to be served, it looked great, smelled amazing and tasted delicious. The atmosphere was of a friendly, local pub and we really enjoyed our visit, would definitely recommend it!

What a find this place is! We saw a review on instagram and decided to try out the Sunday lunch for ourselves. Very friendly pub from the minute you walk in with good menu choices. We decided to go for a 2 course lunch priced at £19.95. The beef was three very large slices of tender beef, roast potatoes, roast carrot and a Yorkshire pudding - the extra vegetables - red cabbage, carrot and swede mash, peas, green beans, and broccoli come separately with a pot of tasty thick gravy each. It was delicious. We had saved some room for a dessert and luckily for me, my favourite sticky toffee pudding and cream was an option on the menu. Lets just say there wasn’t much conversation between us as my partner tucked into his choice of chocolate brownie. There aren’t many places that you can go to and spend under £45 with drinks on such tasty food. Cant recommend this gem highly enough, in the words of Arnie, I’ll be back!!

Cannot compliment the Chef Jess enough! Food is always 10/10 but last nights meal was incredible! We had the hot dog & burger and we couldn’t fault it. Amazing food & staff and such a cosy feel. A must try!

The tapas was excellent. We were very surprised how good it was. The pub does not look very exciting, but the food really is. Service good too. The route we took to get there was steep and winding, which was a bit challenging

Fantastic village pub, which is always very busy. Food is phenomenonal. I had the roast pork, which I could confidently say was one of the best I have ever had. Owner and staff were very friendly and stopped by our table frequently for a bit of a laugh.

Visited the Jolly Collier during a weeks visit to Wales and a search via trip advisor for somewhere nice to eat with the family. I now know why it is rated 2 of 71 places to eat in Abergavenny. As soon as we walked in we were made to feel welcome. The food (Mexican burger and Big Daddy burger) were absolutely delicious and the bonus pot of chilli was a nice touch. The fact that our little one could eat free (Fridays between 5-6:30) was also a nice surprise. Big thanks to Charlie, Claudio and team for a lovely evening with delicious food.

We had a family lunch ( planned for 11 people) to celebrate my wife’s birthday - everything worked out extremely well, we ordered our food in advance and everything was perfect. The food and service were fantastic. We could not have had a better time. Thanks to Jess and the staff for their hard work.

I knew the food was wonderful here, having had Sunday lunch a few times which was always excellent. My husband suggested we try the Tapas one Thursday night, so I went along without expectations as I wasn't sure what to expect from the menu having only eaten Tapas a couple of times before. I can happily say it was one of the best meals I have ever eaten, the food was outstanding, more so because it was different to the usual food I eat. The belly pork and patatas bravas were particular favourites. It was such a treat to have so many different things to eat, if anyone is wondering whether or not to try it - the answer is yes, you should!

Excellent Sunday lunch. Generous portions of beef. The gravy is amazing! I live in Oxfordshire where a Sunday roast is £18 plus and nowhere near as good as this a much lower price. Great family-friendly pub. Will go again. I didn't have the cheesecake, but the rest of my family did. They said it was the best they've ever had.

An absolute gem. The staff couldn’t have been nicer, the food was fantastic and other punters were friendly. The chef even cooked sausages for all the dogs in the pub. If you’re on foot then persevere; it is totally worth the trek up the hill!

Had a lovely Sunday lunch with good service and friendly staff. Very tasty, lovely food, good portions, fab Yorkshire puddings. The only thing I would say for an improvement is to have warm plates and service dishes. Will definitely return.

Cute pub, slightly off the beaten track but well worth the visit. We were lucky to get a table at short notice but the restaurant was quite small, so probably advisable to book ahead as room was full by the time we left! Good food, steak pie and the lovely chips were our highlight and they had some great premium beers on tap at very reasonable prices. The pub felt very cosy, we were by a roaring wood fire and it was decorated beautifully for Christmas!

Went there for the tapas having read some great reviews. Not in the least disappointed. The pork belly with membrillo sauce was delicious. Lovely warm bread too. Great sized portions and very attentive staff. We will be back to sample one of their pies next.

Lovely little restaurant, very cosy, well decorated. A range of delicious cocktails. Fpod very tasty. I think because it was a busy Saturday evening the food wasn't as good as I was expecting, based on reviews. Lovely small pub near Abergavenny. We drove up a fairly steep road coming off the dual carriageway, and the pub is fairly obvious on the old miners road. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. We were a large table but it looked like staff were happy to accommodate us whilst still making sure all the other patrons were being served. The pork belly was possibly the largest cut of pork belly I’ve ever seen! And it was cooked fantastically! The burgers were great, but I have no idea how big your mouth would need to be to eat them without cutting them up, they were big! The chilli was super tasty and a large portion for the price. We can’t fault them. The food came out in 3 batches, but this seems reasonable give we were a large group and the pub wasn’t large. It’s better to get the food whilst it’s hot and fresh than have it waiting! The food was wonderful all round and there was a good selection of beers and other alcoholic drinks. We’ll definitely be coming back!
