Ok Johnsons Garden Centre are now Owned by Dobbie's Garden Centre and we had a look round the restaurant at the minute is only doing snacks (ect) they have a wide range of garden tools (ect) and plants shrubs flowers you have to go to the restaurant to sanitise your hands place your order and then go sit out side as they are not allowed to serve anyone inside they have a big area to sit down in for your snacks the car parks are still the same disabled (ect)

Thinking ahead to Mothers' Day, and how to make it special in Lockdown, I chanced upon the 'takeaway afternoon tea' box and service at Garth's. We decided to try this out beforehand, so ordered just one box to sample before ordering for March 14th. It was fresh, absolutely delicious and very good value. I have, consequently, ordered a couple with mini prosecco bottles for Mothers' Day; ensuring I booked these before writing this great review! The three staff I had contact with - Sarah, Amy and Lesley - were all delightful, and a great big thank you to them for providing this service and preparing such great food. We are new to the area - I need to change my 'ChocoloverBedford name - and I look forward to enjoying their food and service on Mothers' Day and beyond.

I know it's nearly Trick or Treat time and we were certainly 'had' in the restaurant. After spending quite a bit of money in the garden centre we decided to have a drink and some food before going home. I ordered a snack and a pot of tea with some extra hot water. What I didn't realise until I arrived home was that whilst we were charged £1.40 for a pot of tea, we were also charged £1.40 for the hot water. Basically we were charged for a pot of tea, less the tea. It's the first time I've ever been charged for hot water in any cafe or restaurant and I certainly won't give this restaurant the chance to do it again.

I love Johnson’s garden centre as it is dog friendly. Each time I go to Boston I always call. The restaurant has a good selection of food at reasonable prices and they have a daily specials board too. We had a delicious roast beef dinner with all the trimmings cooked to perfection. A wonderful garden centre selling everything you might need. A pet shop, mobility shop, gift shop and clothing. I leave the dogs with my partner so I can visit Johnson’s well stocked food store selling a good variety of wines beers and spirits as well as locally produced fruit, vegetables, meats and cheeses. A visit to Johnson’s is always looked forward too.

Very well signage to restaurant but once its your slot to proceed to ordering, you are given a very small printed menu, then have to order before proceeding to you allotted table. Thats fine but if you have vision problems, the menu is very small type style. Please perhaps display a larger version prior joing the que. As to the social distansisting and staff 5*. Menu on offer much less than pre Covid, but still tasty.

It's such a shame to be writing a bad review as I always used to think of Johnson's as one of my favorite restaurants. I don't know what's happened, but the quality of food has drastically gone down hill. It used to be excellent, but the past few times I've eaten there have been a huge disappointment, the food being cold, under-cooked, or just plain bad. The place is very hit and miss now (more often miss than hit). Come on, Johnson's, step up your game again.

Saw Johnsons advertised in local Lincolnshire magazine, parking was easy and close to Garden Centre and Food Store. Had coffee on arrival and then spent some time looking around the Pet and Aquarium Centre, found some interesting items for our aquarium and garden pond. The Garden Centre was very comprehensive and bought some plants, we then had lunch in the restaurant, extremely good menus and a good system of reserving your own table whilst ordering the food. Food was well prepared and served in their airy and light restaurant. Before we made our way home we visited the Food Store and purchased some foods that we could put in our car chiller as we had some 80 miles to go. Would highly recommend Johnsons to all that need usual Garden Centre products but this place covers so much more to offer.

This is a large centre with good parking and accessible by bus. The indoor displays are quite extensive with a wide selection of gardening requisites (tools etc), a pets department, and the collectibles and souvenirs that one may expect in such a place. Outside the plants and all the usual items, such as fountains, barrows, ornaments etc, are widely spread and reasonably priced. There is a popular restaurant and a separate coffee shop which permits dogs, and provides water bowls for them. The food and drinks here are, again, reasonably priced and with good service. There is also a supermarket/farm shop selling specialised foods along with the regular supermarket items. The staff throughout were pleasant and attentive.

Myself and two friends arrived at 3pm for the advertised afternoon tea only to be told it had to be pre ordered. But on reflection we were pleased we didn’t bother... the main part of the restaurant was already closed for cleaning and only the very dark indoor area was open. Not an afternoon tea atmosphere at all. We went along the next week just for a cuppa, this was at 2pm and again, the area where you’d want to eat afternoon tea was ‘closed for cleaning’. Surely afternoon tea, which was not cheap, should be served from about 2.30-5.00? Going to leave it...

Visited here many times with various members of our family & always been happy with the food & service but unfortunately this was not the case on Wednesday. We ordered 2 adult meals & the children aged 5 & 2 chose kiddies lunch boxes & we ordered their sandwiches which are made to order & not inside the box. After a wait of 15mins which was acceptable for our hot adult meals I went to inquire if I could have the children’s sandwiches as not only had they waited long enough but I really wanted them to eat their sandwiches before their chocolate bar in the box. The young girl at the till appeared to be totally disinterested in my request but went to ask in the kitchen, saying something to another member of staff on her way, who looked over at me I would guess to see if I had heard. She appeared a few seconds later to say my order would be coming out straight after the next one so I might as wait & have everything together. What abysmal customer service, how long does it take to make 2 children’s sandwiches anyway & surely it would have been an idea to ask if we wanted them served before our meals when we ordered (also the same girl).

All looked in good condition. Some of the staff avoided any eye contact though and did appear a little lack lustre in action, the ladies on the till must of been having a down day as they did come over as 'flat' in action. Just had lunch in the restaurant. Roast pork which has been under a hot lamp until the slices have dried up and the edges were curled up. Garden peas that could be used in a BB gun and three very small salad potatoes! Bland, tasteless and very disappointed ting since the food here used to be top class with a great choice of dishes such as pies and dumplings.Sorry to say that this place appears to have been down graded to to a fast food quick profit food outlet. A great shame and a big big management mistake.

Quick service by helpful friendly staff. Gets busy after 12 noon but that's a good thing as it proves this is a good place for a snack or meal. Good prices and clean tables.

Come here regularly for breakfast as a treat and can't fault it. The small cooked breakfast is ample enough, complete with a cup of tea for just over £6. Food quick to arrive and great quality...even the yolk on the egg was runny!! Staff always friendly and helpful.

This garden centre is very popular for both food and garden products. Whether you are eating or buying other products, the butchery is excellent, you will find quality goods and obliging staff. My wife and I visit most weeks and meet lots of regular customers. A good endorsement!

Visited for lunch. It's a busy place. Twenty minutes from entering the restaurant to receiving food. Some may say that's not long, but only 3 in the queue in front of us, and it's not a extensive menu. Very limited sandwich and panini choice, but quite a few hot meal choices. Strangely the panini doesn't come with chips, but the sandwich does. There is no outside seating as such, if you come out of the restaurant to a table you are still sat in a poly tunnel type area, which we found was too warm on the day we visited, so sat inside. Also not very clear how it operates, it a pick your table, put a reserved sign on it and then order, remembering your table number. It's ok. But could do better.

We visited on Wednesday morning after deciding we would like to go somewhere for breakfast. As we have had lunch at Johnsons, we decided to try breakfast and we are really pleased we did. I had the smaller full English which was ample enough for one person, and this came with toast too. My partner had the sausage sandwich, again ample, served on lovely fresh bread. All ingredients were locally sourced which made the quality lovely, none of this plastic meat!! Two breakfasts and a tea and coffee for just over £11. We sat in the conservatory overlooking the garden centre, then proceeded after breakfast to have a nice walk. Staff were very polite and the service quick. Would definitely return.

We just had tea and scones on this visit, the scones are very special great quality. Tea is good quality in a pot so you get two cups. There are three dining areas outside , inside and conservatory. So nice what ever the weather. There are sofas around a real log burner very cosy in winter. They do very good home cooked fresh meals daily, very nice fresh locL produce. They have a great variety of drinks hot and cold, nice quality home baked cakes. A selection of specials, hot meals daily. Comfortable. Good disabled access, good clean toilets. Pleasant environment quite.

Visited here today after passing by previously. Nice shop and garden centre but.........we saw the sign for the restaurant offering cake (tiramisu) and tea or coffee for £2 and decided to give it a go. This was served from 3pm subject to availability. It was 3.10 pm after waiting to be served by a pleasant lady on her own on her first day for quite a while we were informed no tiramisu left and offered No alternatives. I asked if we could have carrot cake but the frosty woman interfered (seemingly the manager ) and told me harshly no only Malteser and banana cake is available. There were about four cakes there and she would not serve us them. Her attitude was far from friendly with no respect for customer service and not a smile cracked her face. She was more interested in closing for the day!! We just had coffee and couldn't wait to leave. This cost almost the same as the deal but with no cake. I don't live in the area so the chances of returning are nil even if I did I wouldn't go there again for anything in the shop or garden centre she annoyed me so much. People on other tables were debating their experiences with her as well. She made everyone feel like a nuisance. I hope the new lady survives (she kept apologizing) with her it was not nice. Better staffed places would have another alternative choice to keep people returning.

Excellent garden centre. Polite staff. Lovely food. Competitive prices too. I have family in Boston and visit regularly. I e mailed the garden centre to ask them to put aside bird feeders for me as I live in Derbyshire. They did this and I was so grateful. Well done to the whole business and I hope to continue shopping and eating here. Jilly

I was out and about for a drive when wife and kids started to mither that they were hungry. I was midway between Skegness and Boston. Everywhere on route seemed to be closed and it was a Monday. I found one pub but it had food served between certain hours so in dismay I drove on and lucky for me as boom Johnsons garden centre appeared. Never heard or been in but it looked great so we parked up in the carpark which was huge and spacious. Entered the restaurant and ordered. Food was lovely and well priced. Staff where wonderful and friendly. I recommend tgis spot to any weary travellers on coast run.

Generally stop here as part of the working day. Always busy, scones excellent and usually a flavor of the day.A place for people to meet. Staff helpful and always quick to clear the tables. Part of a Garden Centre - what more do you want!!. Always somewhere to park as well. Also a deli attached, not the cheapest, but does have a good range of products that are a bit different.

We had a nice day with plenty to see. The garden centre was well stocked. Food area was like a mini supermarket and the restaurant offered very tasty food. The restaurant would be better if there was more variety and should exclude dogs. Dogs and food areas do not go, public walking dogs where I want to eat is a big no no to me. Date visited 3 February

Have had several visits to the place before and all pretty similar in expierence. It was Friday at 12.30 so pretty much peak time, 70% of diners looked like retired couples, queue was out of the door which tells you lots of good things ! Before you queue grap a reserved card by the entrance to the restaurant door and enter the restaurant and find a table and put card on table, making note of table number, I left other person in my party in the queue and picked up menu off table so could decided while queuing. Choice is very good from a snack pastry to a full roast dinner, the special board contains 4-5 home cooked meals and they do sell out but are crossed off the boards as they sell out which avoids disappointment. You take your drink you order back to the table with you and even with a full cover service fresh cooked food only took 10 minutes from ordering to arriving. We had fresh haddock & chips and chicken & ham pie with fresh veg and tasty fresh mash, nice touch was a boat of gravy rather than the preparer of the food assuming we all like lots of gravy or a shower of gravy ! Table was clean, cutlery was clean, condiments are all sachets but top brands ..Heinz etc. Good atmosphere and either a inside by the fireplace area or a nice warm huge conservatory option to dine. Have and will keep returning to this delightful eaterie. Price for 2 wonderful lunches and 2 drinks less than £14.00 !! Excellent value.

My review is centred on the Owl and Falconry Centre and not of Johnsons in general (no complaints about the garden centre from me anyway).I walked into the centre in October, I found the pens and the husbandry of the owls and Birds of Prey very pleasing. It was evident clean water in the baths/dishes was changed regularly and scrubbed, no fecal matter left in the pens and all the birds displayed in good feather. Good to see plastic netting and not wire used on the pen fronts as can damage feathers and injury. I took note of the good "Falconry furniture", good bowperches, clean anklets and jesses.I didn't see a flying display or centre staff so can't comment on the content further, but no complaints on what I saw.
