Lovely cafe. Had the steak and ale pie with chips, peas and gravy. My daughter had chicken strips, chips and curry sauce. Everything was great. Good size portions, definitely fill you up. Sat outside and the sun was shining. Also good table service.

The best Welsh cakes! Stopped by chance after a day at the beach for coffee and cake. Lovely venue and plenty of seating. Ordered 1 latte, 1 milkshake and 2 Welsh cakes at a very reasonable cost of £8.50. Will be returning.

Sat outside with our lovely weather we are having. Lovely warm welcome. Had the small breakfast and asked for a few changes which they accommodated easily, hubby had G/F breakfast which wasn’t a problem. All cooked to our liking and one of those rare things everything was absolutely hot & delicious. Best hot chocolate too Highly recommend,

We make Regular visits. Always friendly, clean and value for money. The owner always makes time for a quick chat. Makes you feel valued as a customer. The Welshcakes are great.

On a coach day trip fromGloucester called in for a coffee when i arrived at Barry Island very pleased with the coffee and cake i had and found the service very good

Came across this place by chance. Luckily for us they had both our favourite meals, faggots and liver & onions!!!!! Food was excellent. Freshly cooked and hot together with an added jug of hot gravy. Staff were very efficient, worked well together and very professional. Tables were cleared and cleaned as soon as they were vacated which meant the place always looked clean and tidy. It was a very busy day but all the staff handled it well. Would highly recommend this place.

I don’t get it. 272 reviews of 5 stars??? I had scampi that dripped water when you bit them. The chips looked like oven chips and where dry. My wife had veggi sausage and mash with peas and gravy. The sausage was tasteless. The staff were pleasant and the tea was nice but the food is not.

Very clean cafe, excellent service, delicious Welsh Cake and cup of tea. Very keenly priced too. All staff seemed very friendly and approachable, nothing was too much trouble. Huge plus point was spotless toilets.

John’s Cafe came highly recommended and didn’t disappoint. Their Full English was spot on. Food was cooked perfectly and I especially liked the use of the little containers for the tomato’s and beans. Nice toast and good coffee completed the breakfast. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The breakfast was good value.

Spotlessly clean , friendly staff and lovely breakfast , served piping hot ! No dogs allowed which is a bonus for us . Reasonably priced, and the coffee is good too.

The is a family cafe on Barry Island.if you are looking for fancy food don't look here but if you want great chips with anything or roast for a good price with a friendly no fuss service. This is the place to go to. I go there every time i go to the island.

Dropped in to Johns Cafe on a windy wet Welsh Sunday morning. My son and I decided on a full English and were not disappointed. This is not a flash or trendy breakfast, it is a solid traditional breakfast, plenty of toast and good quality ingredients. All served with a lovely smile and nice staff.

Good place for breakfast. Fast service and the place is clean and tidy. Staff were excellent. Great breakfast which came out piping hot. Only complaint was there was little coffee in my coffee. ( I think it came out of Nescafe Machine) But next time i'll have a tea! Definitely recommend John's

Typical English cafe with consistently great quality food with a friendly service. Excellent choice on offer with the best gluten free advice I've witnessed both written and verbal anyway. Always try to make a point of visiting here when down in South Wales even if I'm staying at the St. David in Cardiff.

We stopped here to eat and was more than satisfied. The food was fresh, hot and tasty. We were served quickly by polite helpful staff. Good selection on menu, all very reasonably priced. Definitely will go back on next visit.

We visited on a Saturday morning around 10am for breakfast.

This is my go to place when I want a quality meal without any trimmings or nonsense. My wife, granddaughter and I had a lunch here today, and like before, it was lovely. Generous portions of Sunday dinner, and a really good child’s portion of chicken nuggets, beans and chips for my granddaughter. Forget the chain pubs and carveries, this is the place for me. Friendly and capable staff too, which is another of my measures of a good place to eat. No alcohol here which doesn’t bother me one way or the other.

Stopped here I had a veggie roast & my husband had plaice & chips. Very friendly helpful staff, decent sized portion, my husband really enjoyed his & mine was fine - just a little greasy pots & Yorkshire pudding, although the nut roast was lovely, but excellent value for money.

Always have food here when at Barry island. It hasn’t altered in all the years I’ve been coming here and the food and service is always lovely. Great waitress served us (forgot her name. Short hair, ear piercing. Vague I know. Sorry) but the staff are always helpful and polite. Food fresh and tasty as usual. Lovely spot right on the sea front as well. Great.

This cafe has been in business for many years. Has outdoor/ indoor seating. Buy fish and chips.ice cream. Serves the best Sunday lunch on the island.

My wife, granddaughter and I had a roast dinner here today. We both had lamb dinners and the baby had some of our veg mashed up. The food was delicious, and served by really good young staff. We also had sponge puddings with custard for dessert. Good no nonsense grub, and excellent value.

Stopped there before going to Cardiff airport. Food was lovely and excellent value for money. Food was tasty and lots of it. Only thing missing was black pudding but we won’t worry about that. Staff were friendly and attentive. Gladly go back!

I visited with my Mum to this wonderful cafe. We visit regularly and are always extremely satisfied with the service and the fab food. We are both vegetarian and always able to find plenty of things to choose from on their extensive menu. Their small veggie breakfast is to die for and in actual fact is rather large, so goodness knows what size the mega breakfast is!!
