I'm a regular and has to be the best fish and chips around never had a bad meal the place is always kept clean and spotless. It's owned by a lovely family who are always pleased to see you and very welcoming

Food was brilliant chips so crispy yet fluffy and moist I cannot stress enough how good the curry sauce was so coconutty yet tangy in all the right places another outstanding factor was the wonderful staff…. I am a bit of an oddball …(so my wife tells me) so I enjoy a battered mars bar and have a guilty pleasure of a pineapple fritter yet restrain myself from the relentless temptation and urges….. would def recommend 👍🏻👍🏻

IT was an Excellent chip shop, not one better for miles......that was my review 3years ago, unfortunately over the last few visits the food has not been good, on more than one occasion the fish has been dry, and the stake pie,as its the only flavour I have,seems to have spent to much time in the food warmer, the base was hard and the meet gravey dry, as far as the chips go I understand that different varieties may may make a difference, but again not the usual standard, it is now a goodish chippy, i'm sad to say i will now travel elsewhere for my chips.

We’ve been going here for 4 years since it opened and it is by far the best fish and chips we have had anywhere, the customer service is outstanding, the staff are very friendly and the food is amazing. We travel 15 miles at least once or twice a month to eat here and they also have a park in front that you can eat on in the summer. We always leave completely satisfied as the portions are perfect and the flavours outstanding. Officially the best fish and chip shop in the Uk.

Quite a while since last visit and didn't realise there was waitress service and plates etc last time I was there the restaurant bit only just opened and you just ate out of box but what an improvement food still excellent service better very pleseanant and helpful and understanding such a big improvement absolutely brilliant thank you to staff 😀 👍

I recently took my kids to John Dory's Fish and Chips shop for a mid-week meal, and it was a delightful experience. The food was incredibly fresh, and it felt like a step above your regular chippy. It's the ideal place for a mid-week family meal when you want something a bit special. We'll definitely be returning for more delicious fish and chips soon.

The reviews don't lie; this is the best fish and chips I've ever had, bar none. The batter is light and super crispy, not greasy, prawns and onion rings were delicious too. British cuisine at its finest - a whole table of deep fried beige food. Seriously though, the cod was lovely, a chunky bit of fish cooked to perfection and dining in we had salt and vinegar on the table to drown our meal in at our discretion. Turns out chip shops use a lot more than you think because I just kept adding and adding it ha. This was enough between two and the menu has a lot of options, including various fritters and fish cakes. There are sweets too but we are not brave enough for a battered cookie dough! Parking was tough on a Saturday night but be patient and something will show up!

So an early Tuesday evening and the place is busy with takeaways. There was no shortage of customers. And despite a recent review you can see why. Great tasting fish and chips and freshly cooked.

Has Haddock and chips with mushy peas. Batter was crispy and not oily. Dined in but they also do a takeaway option. Staff were very freindly. Was nice to be able to have a beer as they have an alcohol licence.

Was really looking forward to fish and chips after waiting 20 minutes for them could not believe how bad they were, only 1 other person in there on a Saturday tea time when there used to be queues onto the pavement I now know why the fish was inedible texture of cardboard, the batter was rock hard and the black chips hidden under the fish the curry sauce about a table spoon full was tasteless, never again Colin

After enjoying a meal here before lockdown I have tried a couple of times to get in but has been closed. I was looking forward to a sit down fish and chips off a plate with a cup of tea out of a pot. What I got was heavily burnt battered dry fish not drained properly. I won’t be back!!

We've been going to John Dory's for a couple of years now and after another excellent meal, thought it was about time to give a review. In our opinion, the best fish and chips in Loughborough. Not soggy chips, light crispy batter, the fishcakes are homemade and delicious, and the portions are big enough, even for us. 10 out of 10.

Just visited with the wife and daughter and just wow , a fantastic visually pleasing restaurant with great staff and being a chef I ordered a big selection of the food and I am absolutely blown away , value for money is incredible. We will certainly be back

If you want a proper fish and chip dinner then John Dory is for you. There is a great menu selection, with some bespoke dishes and choice of baked or battered fish. The team always deliver a tasty and dependable result. Well done team John Dory and here is to many more visits

Love John Dory’s! A consistently high standard of food and always friendly service whether it is collection or delivery. An extensive range of options for those who want something different to cod & chips (although these are great!). Highly recommend the battered king prawns, squid and monkfish goujons if you want to try something that isn’t on your standard menu. We are lucky to have John Dory’s as our local takeaway.

Richard and I come every week on a Friday for our chippy tea we love it, always absolutely beautiful and last night my chips and fish Goujons were the best they’ve ever been , literally can’t wait till next Friday 😍 keep up the good work guys love cat and rich xx

Staying in the area wanted to check out John Dory after we tried some years ago when they had an eat in area. Yes the prices have increased but that’s something we all have to live with. We found the quality spot on and I must admit the quantity was also excellent. Chips nicely cooked as was the fish. All in all I disagree with some reviewers. I think this place is spot on.

What is a cut of fish? We had not used John Dory’s for a while and was really looking forward to having what we thought were the best fish and chips locally, sadly this is no more. Do not get caught out ordering a cut of cod and chips like we did. I have never been served such a tiny piece of fish, it was also very dry. In actual fact I could say it was more like having batter and chips than fish and chips. Very disappointed that the menu did not state mini (extremely) portion which is what it was. This local chip shop is no longer value for money even allowing for inflation I feel ripped of.

We’ve had fish n chips a few times from John Dory and they’ve been excellent each time. We drive from Barrow Upon Soar to pick them up after our online order and they’re always ready on time. The fish is always cooked well, the batter light and crispy. The chips are so nice not soggy like some other places, I love the mushy peas and tar tar sauce! Our daughter would eat there everyday, fish n chips are her favourite! Parking is a bit of a problem though if the small car park is full. We had to stop for a few minutes parked up the road.

We wanted a large bag of chips, mini fish and fishcake. The Fishcakes are battered, so not pleasant, no mini fish on the menu at all, and you can't have a big bag of chips anymore. The carton of peas you get for £1.50 is enough for one person not three, but your not told it's a standard size. We used to think it was a brilliant chippy, but won't be going back. If they didn't put everything in a box and bag with there name on, they would be able to have a cheaper and much better menu. Very disappointed.

Have been going to John Dory’s for a while, and they probably do fry the best fish and chips locally. They did an amazing job during lockdown etc keeping everyone fed and setting up a new way of working. Unfortunately now the price has been pushed up too far; almost £50 for 3 fish and chips and a couple of sides is fine for a restaurant, but not takeaway. I will be going elsewhere from now on.

It’s a shame JD has decided to not serve large chips anymore. I guess it was profit over customer satisfaction. Bought 2, and threw half in the bin.. Will be going somewhere else from now on .. Nothing special here.

Not good experiences unfortunately, gave it a third chance tonight and the fish was rotten and undercooked chips. At least the staff were polite and gave us a refund after we return the fish, will not be going again

It's not always that easy on line.i got the wrong food.

This place seems to get better. Good fresh haddock, well-cooked chips, some interesting specials such as soft shell crab. Excellent, polite, well attired ,efficient staff and a modern spotless premises. I'm lucky to have it in my village, although worth travelling to.

Extensive menu. Delicious food.

I visited this evening (03/03/21) and the quality and portion sizes have significantly reduced. Their explanation on reduced portion sizes was that they were focusing on quality (beg to differ on that one) and increase in their overhead costs (which is fair enough I guess). I won't be going back though which is a shame as it is my local.

Over the last 12 months we have found the portion size reduce significantly as well as quality of produce. Very disappointing as Quorn used to have an excellent fish and chips :(

The owners have taken a perfectly fine chippy and ruined it... We agree with other reviews, regarding over priced, poor quality, (very) small portion sizes and non existent customer service. Mountsorrel, Barrow, Shelthorpe or rothley would be a safer bet for your fish & chips.

Great quality fish and chips. Very fresh and clean food. Cod was chunky with a decent crispy batter, but not greasy at all. Also had the octopus which was some of the best I've ever had. Tasty chips well cooked. Classic curry sauce and the home made tarte sauce went with it perfectly.

We’ve been visiting using the click & collect every couple of weeks since lock down restrictions eased. Hot, crisp batter, white fish & hot crispy/fluffy chips. We have to drive 25 mins to get here & it has never disappointed.

Since the 2 brothers took this place over they have worked their arses off to make the best chippy I’ve ever been too. Food is always spot on. Service always amazing and friendly. And they are dealing really well with Covid. Good luck to you...

I live in Groby and trust me it’s worth the drive to Quorn the best Fish N Chips in the Leicestershire area definitely and the homemade tartar sauce was delicious. A special treat well worth the visit. I will be back.
