Very friendly staff. Great service . Lovely Atmosphere. Very Very clean place. 6 of us ordered a meal with extras and drinks. Came out 1 portion of chips short but in Fairness they arrived very quick... Too quick in fact as they wernt cooked ..Food was hot and plenty of it but there was that wow fact missing. Tasteless and bland..and we all tried everything. Set meal was suppose to finish with 2 coffees which didn't arrive and we didnt mention. We paid the bill of £165.00 plus a tip and left. They even opened the door for us and wished us a lovely evening.

A nice atmosphere & friendly staff, food was very nice but a little over priced compared to other Indian restaurants of equal quality.

Everyone enjoyed the food and service. Fresh fluffy naans and a perfect dhansak. Good portion sizes. Bit pushy on the starters and side dishes - we know they exist!!! Drinks choices were a bit limited.

Such a shame this was my favourite place four years ago sadly been met with appauling service made to feel very unwelcome and ruined a celebratory night:( food ok but orders got muddled this felt as if it was my fault. Feel sorry for staff the stress they will get tonight.

Visited here with my wife, despite having a few in, the service is quick and efficient. Food is excellent and the vindaloo extra spicy delicious. We will definitely recommend and return.

The manners of the guy that served me was just lovely . In these times it’s rare . The food was fresh , clean feeling , not stodgy . Absolutely delicious. Even the “neon “ mint sauce . I couldn’t find the yoghurt / raita though which would’ve been a perfect accompaniment.

Despite not booking, they managed to squeeze us in a table of 6 on a Saturday night. A huge menu with masses of choice, but nicely laid out and with little explainers on some of the lesser known dishes. The wait for food was decent and the food itself excellent. We had a large variety of dishes between us and everyone was happy with what they ordered. The only downside is that it took quite a long time to get the bill when we had clearly finished and we’re ready to leave. Otherwise the staff we attentive on drinks and extras and the atmosphere was nice. Despite being a big place there’s plenty of small nooks and half rooms to keep it cosy.

On holiday in Monmouth at the moment, went there last night for a meal, excellent food, lovely friendly staff, clean, comfortable and relaxing evening, highly recommended, we are going back again Friday evening, best in the area

I visited jewel balti last month with my family. It was quite busy but luckily we booked our table. I was fancy for a beef dish, so waiter suggested me jewel balti mangsho. I must mention that it was one of the best beef dish i have ever tried. Beef was so tender and juicy. It had some potato as well. Rest of my family loved their dishes too. I must recommend this place. Service was top class. Definitely coming back again.

We had a lovely evening at Jewel Balti last weekend. We visited for a family dinner, as we walked in we surprised to see how big inside is, such a beautiful restaurant in Monmouth. We tried their recommendation on their chef specialties, I tried Garlic lamb aloo, it’s a lamb dish, nice flavour, texture and lamb was so tender, very delicious. One of the best lamb curry I recon. Service was fantastic. We will definitely back again. One of the best curry house in town

We have travelled to India twice and have eaten at various Indian restaurants in the UK. We were travelling through Monmouth en route to Devon and decided to eat at the Jewel Balti. The food was considerably sub standard to what we are used to in Indian restaurants and the manage were intransigent when we commented regarding this saying we should not compare as every restaurant is different!, Our advice - please go somewhere else for your evening dinner

Got a take out, service was fine. When I got back I was very disappointed with the serving protions, 7.50 for the garlic King prawn and I had 2 prawns? Also my naga curry had 3 peices of lamb in. My partner had the butter chicken which was very nice, but overall this was not good enough. Nann bread was burnt. Just a shame I have had a curry from them before and it has been good.

Had a really good meal. Food was really good quality BIR (British Indian Restaurant). My rogan josh was just right. According to their reports my wife’s chicken saag Balti and son’s chicken jalfrezi were equally good. Based on our experience, we will definitely be back.

Having dined inside this restaurant a few times and been satisfied, we ordered a takeaway on Saturday evening at 6pm. The chicken balti had 8 slices (not chunks) of chicken in it. These were not marinated in any way snd were very tasteless The balti sauce in this chicken dish was visibly very watery with no consistency and was equally disappointing to taste. The tarka Dahl was also lacking in taste. Overall a disappointing culinary experience and the worst Indian cuisine we have had locally in years

Felt as though we were in the way. Rushed and abrupt attitude. Meager, overcooked portions. Bland, gravy like sauces. I have eaten in hundreds of Indian restaurants and feel this is by far the worst food I have tasted. Lived in Monmouth for 10 years and was around when this place opened with the inappropriate sign in a very beautiful part of town. The food wasn't good then and seems to have deteriorated. My one piece of tikka ckicken was sliced into ultra thin portions, made to look like a decent amount. Shocking. A shame but myself and colleagues have made a decision never to spend money there again.

This place has amazing atmosphere with a huge place, great food, drinks and top notch service. We went there last Saturday as there very busy but our table was pre booked. I ordered chicken international jalfrazi from someone recommendation. That was one of the best jalfrazi I’ve had after ages. Food came on time as well. Definitely come back again. Nan bread was not cooked very doughy the chicken was like frozen chicken very small pieces not even chunks dry and very chewy, ordered chicken tikka, but the chicken was plain chicken very poor quality overall will not be going back

Arrived, and poppadoms arrived, starter OK. Bhriyani worst I've ever had. No taste, just a pilau rice and some chicken thrown in. We thought we would give it another chance after a chewy lamb curry but we won't be going back. Service is long and drawn out. Waiting over an hour between starter and main. Dining room was cold, myself and others sat in coats. Very disappointing.

We took some friends for a meal on Saturday for 7pm, the waiters were slow and not very helpful. We waited for an hour and three quarters for our meal to come. Mine was tepid and nothing special. Shall not be going again.

If you're looking for a really tasty curry. Look no further. I go on holiday in this area and every year I've had a takeaway from here. It's never let me down. Always tasty and flavours are spot on. Sauces are different and the bombay potatoes are to die for. Meat rogan was lovely and the chicken dansak yummy. Had it with a vegetable biriyani and veg curry between 3 of us and there was enough left over for lunch the next day. 😋

Reasonable priced curry and a pint on a Sunday evening. Staff don't rush you. It was all at the slow pace that I like. Starters. 2 mains and a fresh nan bread. I wasn't bloated like you are in places where they pack it out with cheap fillers. My advice is try everywhere. Thanks guys.

As a party of 12 Midlands starving golfers we had a late booking at this restaurant....after arriving by taxi the driver said he would be unable to take us back later....we thought no problem we would book from another taxi firm later to return to...

Fantastic Indian food. The plain naan is the best I've ever had. Not a cheap night, but well worth it for a treat. Plenty of meat, good lager, great menu, excellent staff. I went jwel balti restaurant last week with my some friends. Their service was very good. Food was excellent, Specially their Bangladeshi jalfry chicken was very delcious.

The first thing about Jewel Balti is that the food,when it comes, is top class. I have to follow up by saying that it was good that I and my friend were not in a hurry as from entering the restaurant to receiving our Mains,it was one hour fifty minutes,so simply not acceptable. The room we asked to wait in on arrival was for Dine In and Take Out customers,odd from the COVID regs point of view, quite a number there and close.We made it clear we were eating in and were asked to wait. After waiting 25 minutes, I asked someone else and we were immediately shown to a table. The rest in note form to save space... 20 minute wait. Would we like drinks (2 waters requested. Another 20 minutes. Would we like to order drinks and meal together? Yes. We were told someone would come. About 15 minutes later. Told someone would be coming. Another 15, orders taken. 20 minutes later, meals arrive. Still no drinks. Would we like drinks ? Yes please, thirsty by this time so jug of water requested. 10 minutes later, iron billy can is brought from kitchen with glasses. Would we like dessert? No, just tea please. 10 minutes later 2 teas arrive with largish milk pot containing, sugar. 5 minutes later, we ask if they can please bring milk. Answer is that they have none Question. Why serve the tea? My friend says we'll be ok without so we have tea without milk. They did however bring the usual mints at the end. Would I return? Only with bags of time and good company yes. Food is top shelf.

We were a party of 11 and the restaurant was pretty busy but the food and service were excellent. The best curry I've had for awhile.

Ordered a Lamb Vindaloo, the curry sauce was nice, alas the curry lacked in meat. There was more potato pieces than Lamb pieces. A complete rip off. This is the first curry I have bought in more than 20 years. I worked in India for 2 years and was taught how to cook Indian cuisine. I am not a novice everyone who eats my curry regards it as the best they have had. I sadly cannot recommend this curry house !!!

Really nice food, slightly ruined by poor service. It was a Saturday night and they were busy BUT we waited nearly 2 hours for our food, no-one came over to check we were okay, see if we wanted a drink or anything, we had to chase them! Really poor service tonight, could only pay online via paypal no option for other card. Ordered food at 8.05pm, said would be ready at 9pm.......still waiting at till and it's 10pm!!!!! Ridiculous Never using them again, shame as food is usually nice 😡

Jewel Balti did a big order for 30 people for our wedding. Our guests loved the food, and there were zero issues with ordering, and everything was ready on the dot! Would highly recommend!
