I came here for the first time with my dad today as he loves the food here. this is definitely the best jp food i've had outside from japan!!! if you are homesick you should come here. The waitress was so lovely and it was a lovely relaxed atmosphere. i can't praise it enough. thank you we will be back again soon!! :)

Excellent experience! The food was delicious, fresh, and beautifully presented. The staff were extremely kind and helpful, making our meal even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place.

Authentic Japanese food. Fresh sashimi, great sticky sushi rice, yummy salmon fried rice. Luxurious to have such authentic Japanese food in the UK! MUST GO if you want authentic Japanese food!

Good food, the usual explosion of tastes when eating well made sushi rolls. A bit more expensive than our last Sushi place but they no longer have eat in.

Wow just got my order delivered. This has to be the very worst sushi I ever had in my life. Better to have Tesco sushi. Rice was hard with no flavor and fish was of the worst quality. Cannot judge a place by reviews anymore. Yuck

Great choice for students! One of the few places in Cambridge where I could have a filling meal under £10 (and there is 10% student discount too). I had the Kimchi fried rice, but the sushi rolls on the menu also looked super appealing. Besides, the owner is very welcoming and the ambient was just right - reminds me of authentic Japanese restaurants rather than chain stores. In fact Japas was recommended to me 2 years ago, I regret not giving it a try earlier!

We had a family birthday lunch here. The service is excellent and the food arrived quickly, despite ordering a large array of sushi as well as gyoza and takoyaki. All excellent. Plenty of people coming in for takeaways as it seems to be a popular choice with locals. It is away from the centre of Cambridge, where most of the restaurants are for tourists, so all good.

Great food, didn't need the waitress there staring all the way through our meal, felt uncomfortable... Not really set up very well for dining in. Canny fish in the tank 🐠 🐟🐬🐋🦐

We had ramen and it was very nice. I saw a lot of negative reviews for customer service, but we were served by a polite (British?) gentleman and had a pleasant experience :) The atmosphere was relaxing and quiet. Would visit again!

Very good for food. The service is kind but not more professional. Tiny restaurant, booking suggested to dine in. I come back in December, definitely one of my favourite restaurant. Be carefully they close early in the evening. The fried and crunchy beef is wonderful!

Great quality of sushi and sashimi, every single piece was delicious and fresh. You can definitely tell the difference compared to ‘machine made’ and this handmade ones. The rice of sushi is really well seasoned. Salmon roe should be marinated bit more as it was not giving very strong enough flavour. Ramen was good too, nice texture of noodles and heart warming soup. Service was amazing too, the lady that served us was so kind and polite all the time, was always taking care of the table. The restaurant is not big or super comfy and the price is bit expensive but if you are looking for some good sushi I would definitely recommend here.

The staff is very friendly. The food was served nice and quite fast. We tried different things and all were tasty. Definitely will visit again.

We ordered online and I had a Jo Set which was eight pieces of assorted nigiri and twelve pieces of hosomaki and this was perfect for me to have and it filled me up. It tasted very fresh and I liked that the wasabi came too, it's always good to have that with the sushi! The food arrived quickly and if I am in the area again, I'll order my sushi from here. Good value too!

Best sushi in Cambridge by far!

Mid-level option in Cambridge. Decent flavorful donburi (I ordered many duck donburi during lockdown). Large portion. For the chirashi, fish can be fresher with better cuts though. Right now it is comparable to fast food/takeaway pieces. Might come back again to try sushi or sashimi in the hope of nicer selections.

Food was pretty good - the Donburi was tasty with the rice bowl being a good size and friend fish and vegetables also a good portion, and the service was quick and friendly. The Rice cake desert is next level though! Best Mochi I’ve had in a long time!

Really disappointed. The soft shell crab costs £8 per one but it was too spicy and you couldn’t taste the crab. And Soup Udon was too salty that it looked like using soy sauce to cook only. You will definitely cook it more nice than this restaurant. If you had tried Japanese food before in Japan, you definitely won’t recommend this restaurant.

One of the best Japanese restaurants I've been to in a while. Very fresh and great quality. Price is fair. Had a lovely evening meal and will be looking to return soon hopefully.

Recently dined here with friends, personally for the price point I would prefer Sticks & Sushi (it costs an extra 15/20% but is almost 100% better in quality) The service was good, however the atmosphere could be much better - there were quite a lot of flies (small) which is a bit worrying given you are consuming raw fish. It's also quite a tight space but this is situated in Cambridge city centre Basically, would I eat here again? no

A hidden gem, excellently cooked and presented food, the chef is amazing for the quality and variety of food on the menu, all cooked to perfection, this is our new Cambridge lunch venue.

Blown away by the quality of the food here, amazing. Don't let the exterior of the building put you off this is a true hidden gem on the edge of the city centre. It's also like a TARDIS inside. All the meals (vegetarian and normal dishes)were perfectly cooked and presented, the chef is excellent. We also tried out first sparkling Sake. Good range of Japanese and far Eastern dishes for everyones palate. A very enjoyable lunch.

So this is a mixed review. The fish is easily the best that I have had in the UK. It's really, really good. Anything that is made of raw fish is delicious. (I tried the salmon and the tuna). I am not so sure about the other stuff I tried. The crispy BBQ salmon skin roll is completely unlike any other similarly named roll I have had before and the internal texture is gritty, and the ice cream has noticeable ice crystals in it. The service is great. The restaurant layout is nice. The price makes sense for the quality of the fish but otherwise I don't really think so.

A decent restaurant where I can eat multiple time, fresh Japanese food. Highly recommend uramaki menu and noodle. A combination of Japansese, Chinese in Asia flavour. Actually it is very hard to me to choose my favourite one because I can find any food for me here, from Japansese sushi, sashimi, healthy meal with salad options or noodle bowl.

I could be eating here weekly for a year and still not covered all of its dishes, especially the sushi and sashimi section. Chinese influence on some Menu items. For lunch we had soft shell crabs, the sushi & sashimi bento box, and pork belly ramen in miso stock. None disappointed. Soft shell crab was lovely tempura fried. Not greasy. Tasty on a bed of salad. Bento box was super generous. Rice on the sushi was just right in texture and temperature. Ramen with pork belly… delightful. This explains why during my time there, the Deliveroo and adjust Eat orders were coming thick and fast! Sorry about the photos. I couldn’t wait to tuck in before taking them!

Bad food quality! I have ordered 3 different types of rolls All of were without taste and the rice was hard My husband ordered a sweet and sour soup (tasteless), pork ribs (very dry) with peking sauce and rice (completely dry and similar to a brick 🧱) Horrible taste, never again!

The best sushi in Cambridge and, frankly, comparable to the best anywhere. The quality of the fish is absolutely out of this world. I've eaten sushi all over the world and it rarely gets as good as this. Don't let their unassuming premises & location deceive you: Japas Sushi is a treat.

The portions are quite small (for the prices charges) but the quality of the food itself is great!

No wasabi, no ginger. 100£ order. How can you forget?

The food is great there, the atmosphere is very authentic and the people there are very nice. The man that worked there kept offering me more tea. Overall great restaurant I would definitely recommend it.

The driver marked order as delivered but arrived 15 minutes later, and didn't call or inform us. We were walking around the building looking for it.

Went here for my birthday as I love sushi and Japanese food having lived in Japan for several years, so was pleased to find somewhere alleging to offer authentic food. Very disappointing; The place was empty whiich was worrying from the start. Unfriendly serving staff - service without a smile. The sushi was ok - not amazing. The oddest part however was the yakitori - yakitori is a dish made of grilled chicken k thigh/leek kebabs with yakitori sauce. What we got was pver;ly deep fried chicken in batter on sticks with sauce on top! I questioned what it was and the waitress answered that it was yakitori. I explained that this is not yakitori and what it should be. She told me, bizarrely, that people in this country like it deep fried in batter!! What?! Utter rubbish. If people in this country want deep fried chicken, they go to KFC! We were made to feel unwelcome after that and left soon afterwards. I echo the comment from previous reviewer about the rude old man who works here too. Came up against him on previous takeaway experience! Don't know what it is about Japanese restaurants in Cambridge. Not one is authentic and need customer service training.

We were missing one item and they went out of their way to deliver it to us. Amazing service and better food.

Fantastic sashimi, sushi and various tempura. We got excellent service (2pm Sunday) and thought the bill very reasonable. Will be back.

Went for a weekday business lunch and were surprised to find we were the only customers. Decor is reasonable if a little tired, menu is very varied with lots of options and food is reasonable - salmon sashimi and California roll were particularly good, octopus and tuna sashimi both disappointing, mixed sushi quite clumsy and rather uninspiring. Service was the real disappointment - we had to call the waitress to order, to get both rounds of drinks, to ask where the sushi we ordered was, in fact the only time we got any actual attention was when they made it obvious we should leave so they could close for the afternoon, turning music off 1/2 hour before advertised closing time and being very very clear we couldn't order any drinks after this. I can accept an element of being ignored or forgotten in a busy restaurant but when the waitress had no other customers and spent our entire visit staring at her phone its pretty poor, we saw 1 other member of staff when we came in and when we were encouraged to leave left but not inbetween. Its a shame as Im happy to go out of my way for good sushi and sashimi, I doubt Id return for very average food with below average service.

I've had japas sushi countless times (both at the restaurant and take away) and it never disappoints. The prices are good considering that they give very generous portions. Best thing on the menu are the octopus balls! Only negative thing if you eat at the restaurant is that the staff can be a bit blunt.

We don’t really want everyone to know about Japas but here goes! Ever since Teri-Aki shut down this is our go-to for authentic Japanese food. It’s small and unassuming and slightly off the beaten track on Saxon Street but the food is just amazing. Today we had 3 types of sashimi which arrived in hugely generous portions, fresh gyoza which were beautiful and lovely hot and salty edamame beans. We also shared a delicious Yaki Soba. Lots of choice of sake but also a nice hot green tea. Service was very friendly - it’s obviously very busy with take away and delivery too so sometimes it took a bit to get the attention of the lovely waitress but it’s great to see Japas has survived the pandemic and seems to be thriving!

We ordered the sharing platter of starters, spicy dragon roll, miso aubergine, cripsy duck and avocado and some desserts. We sat in the restaurant, which was quiet, and had very good and attentive service from the waitress. All of the sushi was delicious and I would definitely go again

Ordered for home delivery a sushi set. Some of it was ok, some chewy and tough. Will not order again. Ohayo sushi is a much better value for money.

This really is the best sushi in Cambridge. Arrived early and hot dish was still piping hot.

Delivery is on time. However, avoid the sushi from this place. Has waxy, plasticky taste with chewy texture.

Honestly the food was just really really bad. The chicken didn’t taste like chicken in either of the meals we had.

Fish wasn't fresh. This is the 3rd time it happens so I don't think I'll order from here again.

Japas es una elección frecuente para nosotros tanto para la entrega como para la cena (aunque más entregas tarde debido a razones obvias). Realmente todo lo que puedo decir al respecto es que la calidad del sushi aquí es excepcional, de lejos el mejor que he encontrado en Cambridge.

I was very disappointed as I ordered Chicken Katsu, which I thought was fried pieces of chicken, but was delivered a chicken noodle dish instead with a very savoury sauce I did not like. Also the edamame beans were not completely cooked. I will not be ordering from Japas Sushi again!

Unfortunately we were quite disappointed with this meal. We ordered via just eat. We were very dissatisfied with the vegetable udon noodle soup; this genuinely tasted like soy sauce mixed with hot water with a little bit of sweet corn floating around. We were charged £8 for this, and I don't feel that this is reasonable by any stretch. The rest of the food was average- very small portion of the seaweed salad and the mixed bowl of Sashami was very limited in terms of amount of fish ( compared with other sushi places we have tried). Unfortunately I would not recommend this place to anyone in the area and will not be coming back.

The sashimi portions are huge and of great quality but I found the rice the used in other sushi was too sticky and of a weird texture.

Went with party of 6 for a significant birthday for a sushi-loving vegetarian. On a Saturday night we found we could enjoy a relaxed meal, and throughout found great variety and generous portions. I think we will be back

Too expensive for the quality and quantity

Aguacate was brown and tasted funny so I couldn’t eat the sushi. Also, delivery guy got lost so It wasn’t deliver to my door.

The food was delivered amazingly fast, in about 10 minutes! The food was very good and great quality.

Enjoyed a family meal here. The staff were really friendly and attentive, and the food was good value for money.The only downside, for me anyway, was the state of the building. A bit tired looking, toilet not working, grubby fishtank.I'd still go back, though.
