Janie's in North Ayrshire

I have been going to Janie's for many years and cannot fault anything I have bought to eat. Everything is delicious and the staff are always friendly.

We stopped for lunch. The sandwiches were freshly made with generous fillings and served with a side of salad. The service was friendly and our food was promptly served. There was a good choice of cakes catering for various food tastes and ours were delicious. We also took scones home as takeaway. Overall we were very satisfied with our visit and felt COVID-safe.

This is a quirky little cafe which was recommend to us. It didnt disappoint, as the food was delicious and the cakes looked amazing.We ordered toasties thinking it would just be a small portion but it came with salad, tortilla chips and coleslaw which was very filling, so we couldnt fit a cake in but next time will definitely have to try one!

Really lovely cafe with especially amazing cakes and very good hot chocolate! Really welcomed on a very wet day.

Visited for lunch straight off the ferry and a little queezy. Weather was bleak but that didn't deter from the lovely food at Janie's. Selection of soups served with a morning roll were all appealing but decided on the lightly spiced parsnip which was delightful. Followed up by some scones with Jam and clotted cream. The scones were warm and tasted great. Well done team!

Stopped in here for some food after climbing goatfell, it was exactly what was needed! Fruit scones and homemade soup were delicious the strawberry milkshake was also lovely.

Delicious lunch for vegetarian daughter and I on two occasions. Imaginative fillings for sandwiches and bagels and oh the cakes and scones. Really good. Would thoroughly recommend.

Needed a cup of tea, and ended up having soup and a sandwich and a scone. Excellent! Not too expensive either.

We finally had lunch here on this trip to Arran (every other year it has always been too busy). We are very lucky to have got a table. The food was brilliant. The cullenskink soup went down a treat and the roasted vegetable toastie which I had was absolutely beautiful. We never sampled any cakes but they all looked delicious. Will just need to come back next year to have one The staff were all very friendly, and Covid aware (tables wiped down after every visit, track and trace details taken etc). Would definitely recommend visiting!

Stopped for breakfast roll and tea coffee etc, and had homemade cakes for out subsequent local walk. Traditional cafe, everything you shoukd expect from home cooked produce. Staff very welcoming, and excellent service. Recommended.

We came a couple of times during our stay on Arran and every time the food, drinks and service was excellent. They were always very welcoming and friendly with some great tips for what to do during our stay. We’d happily come again!

We went to Janie’s for lunch this week, amazing food and service as always. Loved the bagel with avocado and the treacle scones were just fabulous!! Brilliant adaptations for covid - we felt very safe and looked after. Well done team Janie’s 💖

A prime spot on the road out of town offered a lot of potential but was a bit underwhelming.The staff were nice and friendly, oat milk was on offer (sadly unusual), and the coffee was ok.The Almond cake was a tad dry, and there was a general sense that the place needed a good clean (surprising given the current focus on cleanliness given COVID). The fake flowers on the window ledge had enough cobwebs to fill the ‘fly cemetery’ cake on offer. Having said that there were enough dead flies on the window ledge as it was. It wouldn’t take much to raise the overall experience a lot.

We were ignored at the door for five minutes before we gave up and left. It was cleraly busy, but there was no attempt to explain what was happening, whether there was a one way system or they were fully booked. Some customers just walked past us as if there was not a queue.

Popped in for a cuppa and sandwich and was amazed at the quantity and quality at such a reasonable price. Would definitely recommend

Fantastic staff. Cullens soup has to be the best I have ever tasted. Certainly will be back and will have to pester for there recipe.

Stopped here for tea and cake. Couldn't fault it; cakes were homemade (place has a past award for home cooking) and is well deserved. Would definitely recommend and if you want hot food choices these are available as well.

This was the second time my wife and I have eaten here. Food was amazing. We both had sandwiches and they were so tasty with plenty of filling. Right next to the Arran cheese shop so it’s got the perfect location.

My brother's favourite soup is Cullen skink and he has it everywhere he goes and this is by far the best he has ever had. Great value for money.

Don't just let the vegans enjoy the best chocolate cake. There are fantastic scones and other cakes to enjoy after you have enjoyed a fantastic toastie or panini.

We were at Arran Aromatics and looking for somewhere for lunch. We spied this place next door and the deal was sealed when people walked out with the most delicious smelling takeaway.Home cooked, wholesome food. Delicious soups and toasties. The traybakes looked to die for although we didn't get around to trying them.The shop was all decorated for Halloween.Nice to go to somewhere that isn't a chain and where the food is all homemade.The staff were happy to heat our baby meal for us and they had highchair too.

Wir waren auf unserem Rundtrip hier. Waren sehr nett empfangen worden und hatten leckere Sandwiches. Personal war sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Nettes kleines Café mit Stil und leckeren, frischen Speisen zu fairen Preisen.

We enjoy visiting Janie's for the variety of cakes and scones to go with our liquid refreshments. Friendly staff who work hard at busy times. Tea and coffee served in bone china cups - cakes on bone china plates !!

Visited for lunch with a friend. Soup was really nice and tasty. Coffee was great too. Had a good selection of gluten free cakes available. Looking forward to going back.

A really good cafe and you can visit the cheese and aromatics shops as well. Staff were friendly and a good stay.

Also a good place for a light lunch. Good creamy Cullen skink to be had here. Friendly helpful staff. Comfortable seating.

Visited for coffees and milkshakes. Nice small cafe with a good range of cakes. Coffee is nice and strong - they use Thomson Coffee Roasters

Highly priced. I got a sausage bun (which I didn't expect to be Scottish square sausage) for the price I paid I expected a good quality sausage and butter on my bread. My friend got a fried egg roll, just an egg and a roll and paid nearly £3! £10 altogether for two drinks and two buns... Not worth it.

After arriving for our first trip to Arran Island we needed lunch. The soup looked great and I had Creme of tomato soup. Best ever. Highly recommended.

Stopped for lunch. Amazing sandwiches. Scones hard to beat lovely and crisp 9n outside soft and luscious on inside perfect Decent coffee too. Great other choices of home baking difficult to choose

Love this place. We stumbled in not sure what to expect but found a fantastic wee cafe with a great menu and friendly staff. The chicken and rice soup was incredible and with the sandwich combo was great value. Loved the China cup and saucer with my tea. Too full to have a cake so we will be back.

We called in for a snack on way to ferry......had toasties, coffee and scones, all delicious.....but, I have absolutely nothing against dogs, but NOT in eateries....man came in to order with a dog then sat outside with his family and proceeded to put dog on the table!!!! Doesn't matter if smallish dog it should not be on table......the staff were aware as they were served their order.....We would go back there but inside.....

Having stopped off for afternoon tea the previous afternoon I decided to drop in again for lunch today after a lovely walk around the bay. Homemade Cream of Tomato Soup with crusty bread and a pot of tea - just what I needed. Please, Please, Please if you feel you are able to divulge the soup recipe I'd love to take it back to Cornwall. Great food, great friendly service and worth a visit!

Four of us had a bite at Janie's before boarding the 1.30 pm ferry on our way home. We all had different orders but all agreed that we had been served was first class. I had Cullen Skink which I felt was particularly moreish and would recommend to anybody who likes fish.

We visited Janie's twice in 2 days! Such a lovely coffee shop, friendly staff and superb cake selection!

Called into this coffee shop while in Arran. It is truly unique. Janie the owner is amazing. She is so friendly and she knows everyone who comes into the shop. She was ably assisted by Stacey and both were a credit to the people of Brodick. The food is made on the premises from scones to soup and presented at the table with a warm and genuine smile. Great value for money. Menu is varied to accommodate all tastes. A must place to visit when in Brodick. Take a bow girls you are great ambassadors for Brodick and Scotland. Will be back for sure.

You can get coffee, cold drinks, lunch.and the fantastic sandwiches (hot or cold) plus homemade cakes and scones. Service is first class

Janie’s Is definitely something to write home about... wonderful homemade soups, sandwiches and baking. Staff are very friendly and great fun too. We have been going to this tea room for the past four years when we are on Arran and just love it. No visit to Arran is complete without a visit to Janie’s Tea room

Janie's is a decent stop for a caffeine hit, and to use some wifi, but don't get too excited. The menu is standard, prices as to be expected on a small island, staff are friendly enough, but there's nothing to rave about here. Gets the job done, won't break the bank.

Myself and my wife now have a tradition of hopping straight off the morning ferry and going to Janie’s for a breakfast roll. It’s small and cosy and the food is great. If you are looking for breakfast or lunch or just a coffee and a cake you should head here.

As it was mid January and very cold the four of us had morning coffee and scones inside Janie's (Arran Aromatics) and not in the covered courtyard. Inside was lovely and warm. It's small and there are only three or four tables. All the food served is freshly made on the premises including the cakes and scones. Initially we all thought that at £2 per scone it was quite expensive but when we had finished we all agreed that they were the best we had ever tasted. So much so that we bought another four to take away. The staff were really friendly and helpful.

A must stop place to visit, ideally situated next to Arran Aromatics with easy parking and accessible. Janies offers a varied menu with local produce from the Island. Beautiful homebaking and friendly services, good value for money. A popular place to visit. The homemade scones are delicious.

great pit stop for soup and a sandwich which are great value and well presented.Small but with seating in the covered courtyard and then wander the other delights in the complex.

It's not over-fancy but it's good value, easy to find and comfortable to sit in. This is the place for breakfast!

Back for another short break and ate breakfast here each morn as before. Sadly we never managed back on our last day as one of our party was unwell so we had earlier ferry. Food as ever was delicious and the friendly fun staff were a credit and delight. Nothing too much problem. So welcoming. Hope to return soon but will give you break from bad jokes from one of our party. Thank you

What a fab find! We were looking for a light lunch & this place was just the ticket. I have food allergies & they were so helpful. They do vegan cakes too, which was a bonus. Well done!

Friendly waitress service, both in the cafe itself and also in the area outside in the covered part of Duchess Court. Lots of delicious home made food and sweets. Food can be eaten in or taken out.

A really relaxed vibe. Staff were friendly and looked like they enjoyed being at work. The food was delicious as were the cakes. Lovely tea served in china cups and saucers.

This is a cafe, not a restaurant. It is smallish, quirky and unpretentious . It is a cafe Get it?

We called in quite late in the afternoon and had cake and hot chocolate to drink each, which were all very tasty. Staff friendly and welcoming even though it wasn't long before they closed. Decor is retro style but doesn't quite achieve the ambience they seem to be trying for, but a good cafe all the same.

Just had a soup and a scone, but they were very good. Slightly haphazard service, and not the best atmosphere, but it achieved what we needed: snack and a drink.

We popped into Janie's for a spot of lunch after we had been to Broddick Castle. The small cafe was busy (which i think is always a good sign) but we were able to get a table.

The usual warm welcome and great service at this little gem.My daughter and I stopped off for lunch - sandwiches; I had a great cappuccino and my daughter had a San Pellegrino can - they have the best selection I've seen!

Fab staff, friendly, helpful and great sense of humour. They even accommodated fact that we thought they opened at 9.30 when should have been 10am!!!! So sorry. Breakfast options suited us great for our 3 day stay on arran. The little retro touches were appreciated eg china cups. Be back. Thanks again.

Always visit here with my friend on day trips, won’t be back, we both had cauliflower soup, was extremely salty, mentioned this to the waitress but no comment was made. I also had red velvet cake priced at £ 3.95 for a normal sized portion, it was as dry as a stick and tasteless, this was accompanied by a ramekin dish containing squirts type cream, very disappointing. Did not say to the waitress, due to the earlier response regarding the soup!!

I arrived at 4:55pm and asked if I could just buy a bottle of water as I was really thirsty and there was nowhere else to buy one. Doors were still open and I could see the fridge with the bottles. She rudely told me I couldn’t have one as I might slip and break my neck due to her colleague mopping. I said could she not get it and she refused. We left then I saw them all sit outside drinking bottles of juice/water. Definitely won’t be back

The girls who run Janies are really first class ,it is not the most comfortable place to dine but hey the food is great the service is first class, and if you order tea you get a proper cup and saucer to drink it from! A touch of class!

Chose to have a quick coffee here as visiting the perfume shop near . The place is small cramped and has really outdated decor with wobbly chairs and tables old fashioned plastic table cloths - it would not take much to improve this aspect -needs attention

The food is excellent and their salad leaves are really different. All round brilliance and will certa8nly return

Delightful tearoom/café offering an irresistible range of home baking. Just popped in for coffee (excellent) but had to try the freshly baked cheese scone which came with additional grated cheese on the side. Wonderful!

On a visit to the wonderful island of Arran we encountered this wonderful tea room beside Arran Aromatics and succumbed to the delightful cakes and shakes this establishment had to offer.

Very good lunch / tearoom close to Brodick castle. Excellent coffee, great home made cakes ( inc unusual rhubarb and ginger scones) and nice selection of sandwiches, toasties and soup.

We had a coach ( with 53 people) visiting Brodick and our organiser had previously telephoned Janie's to confirm that the cafe could cope with soup/sandwiches for all. An 'emphatic' yes was given. However, on arrival no tables had been reserved: there were insufficient tables and chairs for our party: sandwiches were made to order with bread running short so that some members received the end of loaves for their sandwich. It took so long that we were late for our next appt. In fact, we had to leave after 1.5 hrs that 4 members still had not been served. The two ladies did their utmost but they were ill-prepared for this booking. Terrible experience. Do not bring a party to this cafe......

Visited on a hot day with my sister - We just fancied a cuppa and didn’t expect much when we went into janies - thinking it would be one of those add ons to the Arran aromatics site, but we were more than pleasantly surprised. This little cafe serves the best fruit scones I think I have ever tasted and I am no stranger to a fruit scone - I just wish I had been hungrier - all the food I saw served was beautifully presented and obviously being enjoyed by the other patrons - Janies will definitely be on my places to eat list next time I’m on Arran

You literally can’t fault Janie’s, it is the best cafe in Arran. The staff are so lovely and the food is fab! We were able to sit outside in the foyer with the dog who was given a treat! Thanks for a lovely lunch!

The selection and variety of cakes, soups and food here is superb. As we were only popping in for cakes, without question the cakes were among the best I have every eaten. I would recommend this cafe for everyone coming to Arran.

Great choice for lunch with soups, toasties and lovely cakes and free WiFi. Price not too bad, 6 of us having toastie/soup, drink and cake was 60.

Sharing surroundings with some very nice local craft shops. This was a delight to eat in. Friendly staff and good food finished with amazing home made scones.

Was looking for somewhere to have lunch and found Janie's. We ordered homemade soup and sandwiches and were not disappointed. It's cosy and friendly, we were made to feel welcome and nothing was a problem for the staff. It is also dog friendly. If you are looking for good food friendly staff and want your pets with you, is the place.

A busy little cafe with very tempting homemade cakes, sandwiches, etc. However, for us the best thing was the homemade soups - generous bowls, steaming hot and absolutely delicious.

I have just left Arran after being there a week. Ate out for lunch a few times and returned here. The Cullen Skink soup was to die for and the Sweet Potato and Chilli soup on my next visit was equally delicious!! The selection of fresh home baking is great and VERY tasty too. Staff are great and so friendly. We will be back in the summer!! Thanks Janie + staff!

We visit Janie's every year and have been there since she started and it is lovely to say the home made food and cakes just get's better every year. We have noticed just how many local people visit so that must be an excellent recommendation as to how good the food is. If you are wanting anything from a coffee to a light meal then this is one of the best places on the island and if you are a husband it is a great place to go when the women are in Arran Aromatics? Great friendly staff coupled with good food and outstanding cakes

Lack of sandwich filling, had to send back and not much was done filling wise. Cafe is cold and lack of passion for service.

Janie's also serves excellent cheese scones - the best I've had anywhere. My husband says the same about the Cullen Skink. There is always a good choice of soups, sandwiches and cakes, all home made. The Staff are so friendly and helpful. Best cafe on Arran

Nice wee tearoom - adjacent to some retail outlets (including the Cheese Shop) - offering good range of homemade cakes and scones. Tea and coffee also very palatable and reasonably priced. Staff were pleased to see us and were attentive.

We always visit for coffee when on Arran. Nice cakes and good sized cups. Right beside Arran Aromatics and on the way to Goat Fell and Brodick Castle. Good selection of sandwiches too.

Next to Arran Aromatics this small cafe is well run. We had bacon rolls, cheese scone and coffee and walnut cake. Clearly cake and scone homemade and very good. Also do lunches etc.

After walking along Fishermans Walk, we turn left at the road and followed the path until we arrived at Duchess Court. There is seating outside, however today we sat in the conservatory where dogs are welcome. The lovely ladies gave a warm welcome. There was a large selection of homemade cakes & scones as well as a lunch menu. Enjoyed my cappuccino and cheese scone- served warm with butter and grated cheese, and Bella hoovered up the crumbs. Yum!

I loved Janies tearoom. It's next to Arran Aromatics and Arran cheese shop. I went in twice whilst on a weekend trip to Arran. Lovely home baking and relaxed friendly owner and staff. I'll definitely pop in again the next time I'm on the island, soon hopefully.Fab scones!!

We were driving past and came past here. Decided to give it a try.so glad we did. It's just a small place it was quite busy. The cakes were all homemaking. Three got scones which were nice and warm. I got the rocky road it was good as well. Staff were nice and friendly. Prices were reasonable as well

Had the breakfast rolls. Square sausage,hunk of black pudding. Bacon and egg(runny)...absolutely lovely. Huge pot of tea for 3 people.. Decent strong tea too. Just sorry that we missed this place yesterday! Cakes look devine. Friendly,quick service. Highly recommend.
