The place is compact and has too many people in there using the bar aswell as the restaurant. Its a nice atmosphere but seems pressured because of space and customers. After ordering,they forgot one of the meals completely,until we asked where it was. The food was nice except the portions seemed small compared to the price charged. £6 for fish fingers,mash and beans child portion..

You actually have to enter this establishment and sit down to appreciate its delightfully quirky holiday atmosphere and its delicious menu. Situated on a corner of Cheriton High Street as it is, your first thoughts might be something along the lines of a ‘greasy spoon’, but this is definitely not so. Whenever we go in there for a meal we always feel like we are eating out in a restaurant on the continent. Superb.

For a local restaurant/bar it needs a lot of work to make the locals come back again.Pros- it's quirky - very friendly staff - cheap Cons- the food is not good at all, in fact I'm pretty sure my main meal was bought somewhere else and reheated. It did not taste good at all (some bits were sour)- the owner (i suspect) doesn't wear a uniform, he looks like a random guy off the street that decided to serve your food, smokes and then touches your plates without washing his hands (he had his fag and came straight to our table). I'm pretty sure he is also the chef.- the menu is all over the place as in all these laminated A4 sheets separated. I get it you're trying to keep the costs down but it doesn't cost that much to put together an actual menu. - the cocktails, not for me. They need some training on how to make those simple ones good. OverallI don't understand what this place is trying to be. Bar or restaurant or both? I read the reviews and i was really excited about going there. Sadly i had to go to a chain pub and make up for the bad experience I had at Jack's Shack.

Great atmosphere, friendly staff

Slow service, not very attentive. Food was okay, but nothing to rave about. Didn't have any gluten free bread and wasn't very accommodating in my experience. Waiter had to keep going back to check simple things like soup of the day, if they had gluten free bread, or even cider! Even had to ask for an ashtray, when several people outside were smoking at the table 🙄 So overall, I wouldn't really recommend this place, though the food was alright, but not worth the price.

Stopped on way to channel tunnel. Enjoyed a lovely dinner. Staff very attentive and so friendly it proved a lovely start to our holiday and much enjoyed after hot long drive. The food on offer provided a good range of great standards beautifully prepared and presented. Definitely somewhere to return to next time down this way.

Just love this place, even the smallest of plates come well prepared and presented. Today had a ploughman’s which was lovely and my wife had a lovely home made lasagne. Highly recommend.

If I could give 0 stars I would. Overpriced, swimming in grease and unprofessional. Clearly a novice to running a restaurant. Think it’s cheeky to charge for a card payment (it’s 21st century) and we were very close to refusing to pay. Will certainly not be visiting again.

Have visited Jacks shack before and enjoyed. This time I ordered "Jack's grill". Unfortunately the steak was rancid. I could smell it immediately it was put in front of me. I tried a corned and it tasted awful.I asked my partner to try a bit and she confirmed it was rank. She put that bit on a side plate and I called the waitress. The steak was taken away to be replaced but the bit my partner tried was left at the side of the table to smell throughout the meal. It kinda spoilt both our nights .In retrospect we should have asked for it to be taken away and made more fuss than we did.

My Son suggested going to Jacks Shack for lunch, so glad we did. Awesome food and good service all round. Seating area very nice with cool decor including giant map on the wall. Will be visiting again for lunch for the giant onion rings.

We had a lovely meal here before heading off to France via the Eurotunnel. WE turned up without a reservation and they managed to fit us in. Great food, good value and helpful staff.

A few of us mums went with our kids as a celebration well done for getting through sats week,the food was basic lacked flavor, my friend's child had a tray of drinks knocked over his head staining his new trainers, we was poured drinks from a 50p bottle from a supermarket and charged £2.50 we will not be going back.

Had a super burger and steak with hubby. Lovely little gem of a find. We were not in any rush but food came out in great time. We were too stuffed for a dessert. Will definitely visit again Thanks

Visited with 2 other couples and 2 new born babies on a Friday evening. We enjoyed a variety of meals, nachos and prawn cocktail looked lovely, great steaks and desserts were lovely! Will certainly be returning.

We went there midweek with no expectations, great host, freshly cooked good quality food cheaper than expected. If you use the chain restaurants for convenience and there microwave meals shame on you, I would recommend Jack's Shack to anyone young or old. A very pleasant surprise I will be back.

I had the Salmon. I would have cooked it far better. Others wanted various things as on the menu. None of which were available. Somebody wanted Lamb Shank. Then so did somebody else. Only one left. Then Coffee. Mine was cold. All in all a disappointment.I wouldn't go there again.As a foodie I enjoy cooking and would have presented everything I saw far better.

Lovely dinner with delicious garlic bread! We ordered three starters/sides and i highly recommend the garlic king prawns! We also shared the ultimate platter which was super filling! The dessert had to be the best part of the meal for me though! O had the apple crumble and it was so yummy! My boyfriend had the chocolate fudge cake and he says it was also very good! Our waitress, Kelly, was a really lovely person and always made sure we were okay! All the staff were friendly especially the mature gentlemen who was super sweet! All in all a really enjoyable meal!

Small premises but a cracking little restaurant, Owner and staff lovely people, Home cooked food, All presented well and tasty, Nice little bar to have a drink, All sorts of food available. Steaks Burgers Nachos and much much more. Hope this review helps people try this place, because I'm a customer that always goes back with the wife and kids. My T bone steak was delicious!! What a find. Heard some good things about it and decided to go. Well worth the wait. Good menu freshly cooked burgers and fries were lovely.

Service is mostly good, more casual than some places but is also part of the charm. Food is good and well presented. Only downside is the slightly cramped feeling because it's a small place; though perhaps cozy would be a better term?

Lovely little place and great atmosphere. I went with 3 other people, they had steak and I had pork ribs... All was delicious. The dessert was great and the cheese board was huge, all at a reasonable price. I will definitely be returning.

Although I have passed this many times thinking it was a cafe, we decided to enter in today and was surprised by what we found. Well decorated m, lovely service and a good grill menu and reasonably priced. Food was delicious and service was efficient and polite. We will be back and really enjoyed.

Booked for a private party for 22. Great buffet was supplied with Jerk Chicken and I would say one of the best Goat curries I have tasted. Great place and atmosphere. A place not to be missed and the owner goes out of her way to make your event/evening most enjoyable.

Saturday evening, had Jacks Shack offer of 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £25.

We were staying at Folkestone Holiday Inn, and had a walk into town for something to eat. Trip advisor found us this place and we were not disappointed. It is a small and friendly restaurant and does burgers, steaks and ribs but also a few extra things such as fish and salads. We all enjoyed our meals and the price was very reasonable. Would return again.

Went for Sunday lunch with friend on Sunday we had the Sunday lunch which was terrible,will not be returning,however my friends tell me that the normal menu was very good,must say for the prices charged it only resembled a cafe they seem to cater for children

The establishment's name reflects what it is, not a celebration diner; however it is friendly very clean and the food well presented. If I am in the area and feel pekkish I would call again.

Went in to 'Jacks Shack' on a last minute whim and was delighted with what we found. So nicely decorated inside with a super and personal theme. The place had atmosphere and I soon forgot we were sitting in little old Cheriton Highstreet.

First visit, joined a friend for her birthday meal. I always thought it was a cafe and was surprised when my friend suggested it for her evening meal.

Its like a transport cafe, with kidz running about, no matching crockery or cutlery, terrible service and the food not up much, sorry but its in the title a Shack

So, the girls from work and I decided to give Jacks Shack in Cheriton, Folkestone a "try"!! We all live in the local area, myself only just up the road. Anyway we were all SO pleased we gave them a go. We were surprised because, in all honesty from the outside it doesn't have that much "kerb appeal", once inside tho we all forgot we were in Cheriton High Street!! Sorry if I sound snobby, but it was lovely. We were made very welcome and the food was super. I had fillet steak and can honestly say it was the best steak I've had in a very long time. We all agreed it was great and were all asking if it was too early to book our Christmas "Do". Would definitely recommend giving them a try, you may be surprised like us

visited Valentines night, had not booked, but we were shown immediately to a good table. Lovely ambience. Service was quick and not intrusive. Food excellent and tasty. Will definitely visit again.

We visited this restaurant on a Saturday evening & unfortunately we were disappointed the restaurant was cold the food was mediocre 3 of us had prawn cocktail which were so small I thought they had used 1 prawn & chopped it into tiny pieces my garlic & mushroom chicken had no garlic!! The Barnsley chop was so small they reduced the price.The only draft beer was off the service was not up to standard either the staff were pleasant but scruffy . when asking for another beer we were met with a loud "WHAT" we finished our meal about 9pm & while we were sorting the bill the waitress started to turn off the lights.Unless they up their game we won't returning or recommending.

First visit last night for dinner. The menu is great and there's lots of choice, particularly for main courses - difficult to make a decision as it all sounded so appealing. I had garlic mushrooms to start and they were the best I've ever had, properly deep fried and not soggy as I've sometimes found before at other restaurants. I chose cheese souffle with side salad and chips. It was delicious and the chips were amazing. Sadly, no room for a dessert, will have to try that next time! The restaurant was very busy considering it was mid week and had a good atmosphere and the service was friendly. I was impressed that, as the last diners, we were encouraged to take our time and didn't feel we had to rush. Definitely 5 star rating!

Full rack of bbq ribs, OMG amazing. chocolate fudge cake was to die for. my wife had a roast and pud for 10.95. excellent value for money and the service was very good. looking forward to returning for valentines! Cheriton had needed a place like this for years!

Seemed like the man in charge didn't really care and they were fiddling something on the till... I was told after ordering that I couldn't have a trio of burgers and had to have one which I didn't mind but then once i had re ordered the man had to go out to the coop and get Stilton that I had ordered once finish me and my friend payed cash which he took from the young boy there and wanted to handle personally heard him say to them he wanted to handle all cash transaction it's not a bad place just think the owner needs to get a computational manager to deal with it if not going to be there all the time

Had an impromptu lunch here yesterday for my birthday. Four of us enjoyed a good selection of food that was well presented and good value for money. Sausage and onion panini was great! I particularly liked it that the owner turned up the heating for our comfort the moment we went in! Thank you.

Lovely service from staff and owner in a relaxed atmosphere. Tasty and well presented food, and cocktails first was a nice idea. Huge map on one wall reminding us of previous travels. Deserves to be better patronised as it would be a delight in any trendy place, so please support this oasis of paradise in Cheriton as I want it still to be here in years to come.

We had a great evening meal for 4 last Saturday. Nice and warm inside on a very cold eveing. Good service and a lovely meal at very reasonable prices. Good range of bottled ales and wine. 4 different mains and desserts all consistently tasty. More patronage needed or the place will close. Why are more locals not using the place? Support it or lose it.

Had a lovely meal on a Tuesday night. Two steak dinners and a bottle of wine. Food was great, waitress was lovely. Give it a try

A lovely little place with lots of character. Tried it on suggestion from a friend. This place needs more business it's a delightful little restaurant, took my mum and dad here they both had burgers which were incredible so they said, I had a lasagne which I could barely eat half of it was so big and for such a cheap price and so tasty.

Both my husband and myself were told about this lovely restaurant , so we travelled down to Folkestone for the day, then decided we would go along the road to Cheriton to Jacks Shack ! We were so pleased we did the service was brilliant as well as the food ! Will go back

I am a bit of a nacho conisseur and it is very difficult to get them just the way I want them. Having tried various places in town for nachos, I was delighted to come across the nachos at this place which are stellar. They are priced just right, and come with just the right portions. Gooey cheese, nice guacamole, delicious sour creme and beautiful salsa. I quite literally eat nachos here every other day. The atmosphere is lovely too and the owner is really sweet. (The place is named after her father, which is very touching). This place has heart. They also have a nice selection of drinks and their burgers are lovely as well (Just thought I should mention and not go on about their nachos only) lol. They also seem to be very accomodating of groups and it is nice to see whenever a party books, they go to the trouble of hanging baloons etc to give the place a party feel. Little touches matter.

I visited jack's shack with my family and had a lovely meal. The kids enjoyed picking their food off the pirate themed kids menu (be it a black and white photocopied version - maybe laminated coloured copies might be nice).

This cafe/bar has a really interesting concept but the food and menu just wasn't executed well enough to support it, especially for the price. We want to support local businesses but even the kids were disappointed. Reading the menu it was inspired by the owners father and trips abroad especially to the Caribbean. So where is the goat curry with rice and peas? Please look at the finer touches when serving your food, watery chilli on a burger? Beef mince burger not cooked through and served to young children? £5 for small bottle of ale and shop bought coleslaw to name a few. However staff friendly and welcoming.

Wanted to try the restaurant since opening, loved the decor and atmosphere, Went as two couples and ordered drinks, but was told they had only one bottled ale left.. Not a problem we thought, it was busy so choose something else.. We ordered a coke and then asked for some lemon, the waitress then returned to the table with it in her hand!!! seeing the look on my friends face, she walked away and brought it back in a bowl..Ordered are meals, salmon came and was cold, two mixed grills came and were the wrong way round and were not really cooked medium and rare.. The chicken came and was luke warm, both the salmon and chicken were sent back, both were returned to the table and hot, but dried out from being reheated. The waitress offered us 10% off the bill. After finishing our meal we decided to speak to the manager as we were very disappointed, we so wanted to enjoy the meal and evening, too support local businesses and make it a regular place to visit as its in walking distance of our home.. She was very apologetic and said she would not charge us for the meal and drinks.. We offered to pay for the drinks, but she refused... We were very happy at her efforts to put things right.. I really hope that tonight was a one off, as would love to see the place do very well....

The food was good but it's more like a Cafe than a restaurant, small, loud music and two lots of families with crying kids not exactly what I had in mind for an Evening Meal. There was only one lady on so service at first was slow until someone else arrived. My Prawn Cocktail had a whole prawn as a decorative item I suposse, personally something I did not want, ie two eyes looking at me, felt guilty eating it. Coffee way too strong I could not drink it, I would have said something but managing on her own I thought best left. The table had not been cleaned there was salt spilt. Maybe a visit later Evening we all went at sixish might be better as no children maybe and with the door shut and candles on the table might be more of a nicer atmosphere. Worth a try for the food as I said that was not bad but personally we would not use again. More of a day time place than nice evening meal with family.

Lovely food and service from most staff.. Hence the four stars.. There's a girl who works there who fancies my girlfriend and deliberately makes me feel awkward and unwanted whenever we visit, ignores me etc. wouldn't mind it anywhere else but I don't think she should let it affect her workplace, a shame as the establishment otherwise is wonderful!!

Went here for lunch with my wife. Our first visit and we were not disappointed. The décor is so different, shame there's no sandy beach and blue sea outside this "surf style" eatery! There is a very good choice of menu plus daily specials, all reasonably priced. We both decided on scampi and chips - some of the best restaurant chips we've ever had! Fluffy on the inside, crisp & golden on the outside. Certainly filled us up. We will definitely return and recommend locals who haven't been yet to try it out - use it or lose it!!

Recommended by the Holiday Inn Channel Tunnel and it's a goodie. Superb food, friendly helpful staff and great decor. We recommend it highly, you won't be disappointed.

Me and my fiancée had a great meal. We were warmly welcomed into this family ran restaurant! The deco is modern and interesting adding a great feel to the restaurant. The staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The food was fantastic. Great portion size. I'm a big eater and it was more than enough for me. Overall we had a fantastic meal and would highly recommend. A great addition to Cheriton and something that we cannot loose!

Lovely dinner here last week. Great sized portions and all home cooked food. Nice to eat something not out of a packet from a restaurant! Great cocktails - would have liked for a few more beer options but can't fault it.

Visited this newly opened restaurant, the interior is great, the food is superb, I had the lamb which I highly recommend, not to say the homemade sticky toffee pudding, the cocktails are the best, well done jacks shack, just what cheriton needed

What a lovely relaxed little place that has recently opened in Cheriton. To start with we all had cocktails which were delicious. We had nachos to start & easy to share 2-3 people, The hot wings are defiantly hot & very tasty. I tried the Chicken stack dish which was very lovely. I was too full up for dessert but maybe next time. I did however have room for another delicious cocktail. Definitely be going back.

This place is so lovely. The food!! I had the lasagna and oh my gosh it was better than delicious I was just so sad I couldn't finish it!! And the price was great. My husband had the scampi and chips with beans, could have had a few more scampi there it wasn't that good a portion but that's a very small complaint compared to the quality of the food. Would definitely dine there again. And the waiter we had he was just lovely. Thanks for a nice experience.
