A fantastic place to stop for coffee and a bite to eat whilst out on a ride. They don't seem to mind the smell of damp Lycra (or are too polite to kick you out) and there's plenty of space to park a bike inside.

Went in on a whim while we were on a day trip to Stewarton for an appointment. It's a lovely little cafe with very pleasant staff and a reasonably priced menu. We had two rolls and fried egg, 4 cups of tea between us, an empire biscuit and a slice of chocolate cake. The total bill was under £15. £3.90 of the was for the two cakes. The last coffee shop I was in charged me £3.90 just for the chocolate cake. The service was a little slow but it was quite busy when we were in. I will definately be popping in the next time I'm in Stewarton

i had to double check I had the same "Jacks" as some of the reviews as I didn't recognise it from what some had written.I'm a fairly regular customer, visiting at least once a week, and have always found the staff polite, friendly and helpful- even when the place is jumping with kids! It has a lovely atmosphere and the garden and play area outside it a super place to keep kids entertained, with climbing frames, slides and all on a safe, soft surface with nearby tables to allow adults to keep a close eye on them. The coffee is really good and they have a wide range of teas as well. The food is good- freshly made sandwiches and homemade soup are tasty and filling. The cakes are a little disappointing and not so much to my taste- I'd prefer them to be all homemade- though the scones are lovely (fresh cream would be a nice option to go with them!)Defiantly my favourite place in Stewarton for coffee or lunch.

Just passing through Stewarton this afternoon and decided to stop for a spot of lunch. We weren't looking for anything special and this place looked inviting enough from outside. My husband and I took small table just in front of the counter. We quickly made our choices. I chose a chicken panini and my husband chose a BLT sandwich. No table service so my husband went to the counter and ordered. With a diet coke, the bill came to £12 odds, and had to be paid on ordering. After 25 minutes the lady behind the counter came and apologised for the wait and said that she should have advised that there would be a 10 - 15 minutes late but that our lunch was being plated. In all the time we had been waiting the only thing that had come out the kitchen was a baked potato with tuna and a small bowl of soup! After being in the place for 40 mins our lunch finally arrived, and if it hadn't taken so long I would have sent it back to the kitchen. The panini itself was a reasonable size but chicken strip inside it was roughly 2"X1.5" in size. What a rip off and I can't see why it took so long to make it. That said, my husband enjoyed his sandwich. For other reviewers who have mentioned the excellent baking, the whole lot is sold in Costco for a fraction of the price it is being sold for in this place.

Used to be 'Thirst'. 'Jacks' is still finding its way and looks a bit like an American diner that has been crossed a jazz theme cafe. It also has good outdoor seating and a pop-up marquee at the back. A children's play area has been built and this adds noise and disturbance to an intended quiet coffee. Looks as if the pottery in the backyard has closed and the empty shelves are still apparent. The old art gallery area has been changed into a 'pram' parking bay. The range of food is fine and the service is quick and friendly. I visited a nearby cafe recently and this made a striking contrast between home baked fresh scones and the old and stale variety served here. The young mums with pre-school kids seems to be the target market, but all will become clear once the change from 'Thirst' to 'Jacks' has reached its zenith. In the meantime dodge the prams and rescue the toddlers or maybe wiser to close your eyes to their travail whilst the semi-oblivious mum's chat. Incidently, why 'Jacks'?

We had a pleasant dinner in the Library at Dumfries House as part of a Christmas Festive Candlelit Tour of the house. With extravagant Christmas decorations the setting for a festive dinner was superb. Service by the young staff was very good and the dinner satisfactory though no choice. It was traditional Christmas fare but somewhat dry, overcooked turkey while the smoked salmon with salmon mousse was perfect. I would do it again!
