Perfect food, presentation, and service.

Would suggest the the staff to be more considerate so we don't have to ask for everything.

Popped in for brunch. They were fully booked inside, so we sat outside under the awning. Blankets were provided but the heaters weren't on. I had the full English breakfast pricey but mostly very good, 3 poached eggs was definitely a winner, only downside to the food was the bacon was a but dry. Coffee was good could have been a but bigger though. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. The place was clean and the jazz version of "we're only making plans for Nigel" wafting out of the speakers was a new one for me. I'd definitely call again

We had a fantastic time out at J. Reserve's celebrating my partner's 50th. The hostesses were really warm, friendly, and attentive. The food was great...I recommend the seafood chowder!

You couldn't get a warmer welcome than at J Reserve, we popped in for a quick drink (hot chocolate for my son) a couple of weeks ago and were impressed by the friendliness of the owner and staff. We vowed to come back and eat there and today had a wonderful brunch as a whole family. Exactly the same friendly and genuinely personable chat from the staff, we felt right at home as we settled down in the lovely cosy back room. The menu is fab, lots to choose from and we had an impressive range of dishes from a simple sausage sandwich with (extra poached eggs) for our son, a massive and top notch full English for our daughter. I had the eggs benedict with bacon which was delicious. My wife had a gorgeous smoked haddock rosti from the specials and my mother in law had an amazing looking avocado, eggs, feta and pomegranate medly on sourdough. The food was as exceptional and as impressively polished as the service. What a gem of a place and we will be back here again soon.

We had lunch outside here and the blankets are a nice touch! Our food was fabulous, every single one of us loved it. Most of us had a sarnie with chips and a salad but the garlic prawns were apparently amazing as was the fish soup and quiche. Service was very slow but polite and friendly. Outside was dog friendly but no prams allowed.

Nice food, attentive staff. Not prohibitively expensive - very reasonable by Ilkley standards. Straddles cafe/more substantial fare. They have an outside area with a retractable canvas roof & heating, which is obviously a big thing in this time of covid - although they only use it when it rains. Lovely food, great, attentive staff & my mother loves it too, perfect. *Autumn 2023 edit - food recently changed from good to very good. One of the best cafes bridging the snack/meal gap in Ilkley

Visited J Reserve a couple of weeks ago with my Mum for lunch. The staff were incredibly friendly, warm and welcoming and the food was fantastic. It is rare to find a place that does a great salad, but this place has it!!

In all honesty we had travelled to Ilkley thinking we would go to a cafe over the road, but it was closed. We saw this place and decided to give it a go. What a fabulous decision! I had a roasted bagel with warm grilled halloumi, sundried tomatoes and a black olive tapenade, my goodness it was delicious, and the hubby had French toast with maple syrup, crispy bacon and berries, which he devoured! The coffee was really nice too. Needless to say, we will definitely return and would highly recommend. My only advice is to either book ahead or arrive early!

Hi, We had a fabulous meal today. Jane was an amazing host. She catered for our every needs Jane was so so friendly, respectful, helpful today. She even catered for our dog needs as well. We go every where with our dogs and she was so friendly looking after our dogs whilst we were there. We can’t thank Jane enough for the brilliant hospitality she provided x

Myself and my Mum had lunch at J Reserve on the terrace, and although the weather was absolutely terrible (heavy rain and wind), we felt so cosy and warm! The terrace is completely sheltered, they also have heated lamps and provide warm blankets. It was so lovely! The food was also delicious and the staff so friendly and attentive! We had such a lovely time, thank you!

I had lunch with a friend and our table position was good and the service was great and the people very friendly and efficient. We appreciated the warm and cosy blankets as it was quite a chilly day. My avocado and chicken wrap was quite tasty but perhaps a little pricey but I don't think my friend's bruschetta was worth the money and she didn't really enjoy it. There were 4 pieces of toasted bread of which two had prawns on them and two goat's cheese and tomato. The prawns dropped off as soon as she picked up the bruschetta and they were supposed to be with garlic but she said they were tasteless. Fortunately the goat's cheese was better.The location is good and as it was a catch up lunch we enjoyed ourselves. Hospitality venues have not had an easy time recently and I sympathise with them but they need to offer value for money as there is a lot of competition in the town. .

Absolutely first class food, service, ambiance, etc, etc. I and my friends could not fault it. 4 hours chatting and enjoying ourselves in the late afternoon sunshine in this beautiful restaurant situated in Ilkley’s prime location on The Grove and hosted by lovely ladies Julie and Janine. They provided us with delicious mixed sharing platters followed by home made birthday cake made to order. Heated lamps and blankets are available when it starts to get chilly. If you haven’t been yet then you will be pleasantly surprised. A real hidden gem.

Spur of the moment stop to grab some lunch.. A varied and interesting takeaway menu outside. The 2 very welcoming ladies took our order of fish chowder with cheese scone and a vegan leek and mushroom ciabatta. Delivered to our car outside.. Absolutely delish and will most definitely be returning. Highly recommend.

We had an amazing Valentines afternoon tea - even tho Covid forced it to be a ‘take away’, it was presented so well! I can not wait to be able to eat and drink in this fabulous cafe bar/restaurant again.

During these crazy times for all, we needed a night out. J Reserve was the place we opted for. Having never been before we didn't know what to expect.It was a special themed evening especially for Halloween. The foods was absolutely fabulous, well presented, enjoyed by all of us. The serves by Julie and her team was exceptional, nothing was too much trouble. They made all guest feel welcome. The evening was so much fun. I highly recommend this place. We will return as soon as lockdown rules allow us. Stay safe X

I was just seeking a sandwich/lunch in Ilkley and came across this restaurant. I was served a first-class serving of cream cheese with avocado and smoked salmon on top of bread, garnished with some salad and a few chips. The meal was well and cheerfully served - I couldn't have asked for anything more. The restaurant is centrally situated and has indoor and outdoor seating with a back room which may not be obvious at first sight.

We joined J Reserve for their Halloween themed night. It was all very spooky and realistic 🎃 The food was amazing and all of the staff were very attentive. They couldn’t do enough to make it a special evening 👻

Dropped really lucky with this bistro type eatery. Lunch this Sunday served by the excellent Nicki who was extremely pleasant and professional. Went with the Sea Food platter and it was all brilliant. Plenty for 2 and a very pleasant lunch sitting outside people watching. Will definitely be back.

Mum & I turned up on Friday on the off chance we may be able to get in as neither of us had tried this place before & both really fancied it. The reviews on TripAdvisor looked promising so we decided to take a trip to Ilkly and try this place out. From the moment the team greeted us the service was absolutely perfect. The food was delicious & beautifully presented all served with a relaxed atmosphere just what we were looking for. Thank you all so much for a perfect lunch ❤️

We had lunch on 15th September on a large outside table. The weather was lovely and you can watch the world go by. Wine options were excellent, menu enticing. We ordered the smoked salmon and avocado open sandwich (sandwiches come with salad and skinny fries), the prawn and poached salmon open sandwich, the chili nachos from the specials board and the garlic prawns and houmus, olives and pitta from the side orders - to cover 4 people. There was more than we could eat and everything was delicious. The service was super - extremely welcoming, and COVID measures all securely in place. Would highly recommend Cafe J.

Enjoyed our late lunch / dinner sat outside watching the lovely vista and the world buzz by in Covid times. Famous Brownlee gran joined us for a coffee - say's she is always made welcome even just for a drink and soak in the amosphere. Happy friendly staff.

Had lunch as part of the eat out to help out scheme, which was very good, managed to get a table despite not pre-booking - staff recognised us from a previous visit which was a while ago, so that was a nice touch. Food was fine, I had the gourmet burger which was huge, a well-cooked. My wife had chicken, bacon and avocado salad, which again was nice, although she did ask for it without any dressing but it still had some on when it turned up. The layout is quirky, we ended up in what was called the conservatory although this is a bit of a stretch, and there is not a great deal of atmosphere in this part. For these 2 reasons we have given a ‘4’ rating - if booking a table I would certainly recommend asking for a table in the main area, although I suspect regulars will get first dibs on these.

The staff in L Reserve are excellent! The drinks and food are fab. We stopped twice over the course of a week - first stop was at 6pm for drink...great Aperol Spritz. The second was for brunch - excellent Eggs Benedict.

Had a quick lunch here in last few days, food was nice as were waiting staff, but I have to question the prices. For example on the J Reserve website the open prawn and salmon sandwich is listed as £8.95, yet as part of the 'eat out deal' is £13! A hike of 45%. This is replicated across the menu. I appreciate prices may have to have risen but perhaps if you respond to this review you can explain why to the extent of 45%. Will the website be updated with accurate prices as I'm sure many visitors take these into account when booking?

Marvellous food and really friendly staff. We had a Mediterranean Platter with prawns and scampi, which were excellent and good value. Tom and Matilda really looked after us.

Lovely venue, really nice food - exemplary service. We ordered nibbles, wine and coffee and all were lovely. Would come back just to see Nicki again! She really made our visit enjoyable, very attentive and a good laugh. This is a fantastic example of an independent venue in Ilkley, would highly recommend!

We had a platter for 3 people and it was fabulous- seafood and meats on the platter. Great service from Nicky, she was absolutely lovely and she went the extra mile to make the experience special. We will be back again! Thank you, Turner’s.

Looked really nice so thought we would give it a try. The food was average for the price and you didn’t receive a lot. The meal I ordered was supposed to have pomegranate seeds on it but instead arrived with four raspberries and they didn’t inform me of the change (extremely dangerous if someone has allergies) They totally didn’t go with the dish (poached eggs and avocado on toast) and just felt completely random. Very frustrating that the meal cost £9.95 and was average at best.

We had booked not realising J Reserve had stopped allowing dogs on the terrace, however it mattered not as we were given the whole terrace at Cafe J to ourselves! The staff looked after us brilliantly, the food was great as were the coffees. Lovely start to the day

This was my first visit to J Reserve since March. We were a group of three girlfriends catching up over lunch and what a fabulous lunch it was.We all ordered the Poached Salmon and Prawn salad, absolutely delicious, beautifully presented and really generous portions. Full marks to the Chef! The restaurant was busy but the service we received from Nikki, Sophie and Janine was exceptional and I am sure appreciated by all the other diners too. The standard of hygiene was superb and we all felt completely comfortable and safe.Thank you all so much again. See you soon!!

Wow! How very refreshing to visit this lovely establishment. This restaurant is super-organised particularly with keeping people safe and meeting requirements around Covid-19. Nikki and Emily are lovely and provided us with amazing service and great pleasure of meeting Julie. We had a lovely experience to visit this Resturant on two occasions. The food, and cafe is wonderful and a gracious experience.

We visited J Reserve on two occasions during our 3 day stay in Ilkley and had two stunning lunches. The menu offers a delicious variety of healthy and scrumptious food. The chocolate cake paired with a double espresso was scrumptious and a great end to the meal. The service was superb - Nikki and Emily were lovely and super friendly. A great experience and would highly recommend a visit if you are Ilkley. It is a 10 out of 10 from me! A wonderful visit, great food, and superb service ❤️.

Fabulous afternoon tea. First day opening after lockdown, the food was delicious and the service excellent as always.

I moved to Ilkley a year and a half ago and have visited J reserve on several occasions (would be much more often if we didn’t have 2 kids under 5!). We’re always given a warm welcome from the owner and staff and the food is beautiful and fresh. The menu is regularly updated with interesting lunch options and they also have an amazing selection of cakes. When we came in with our newborn (2 weeks old) for my husband’s 40th birthday lunch we were made to feel really special and the staff didn’t bat an eyelid about bringing our huge pram in to try to eat while she was napping. More recently we’ve been ordering their wonderful take away food during lockdown and it’s been a real highlight. The fish and chip Fridays are beautifully fresh and better than anything we’ve ever had from a fish and chip shop. The homemade tartar sauce is delicious and the batter is magical (and I’m not usually a fan of batter). I’d definitely recommend them and hope Julie and the team weather the Covid storm.

We had a roast beef Sunday roast delivered. It was on time, in fact it was a little early. Cooked to the same excellent standard as a few other delivered meals. No complaints at all. A very reasonable delivery menu through the week and we’ll be having fish and chips this Friday. I would highly recommend giving j reserve a try - you won’t be disappointed.

We ordered a Sunday lunch when we saw J Reserve were open for take away only. Delivery was offered and it arrived exactly on time! The portion size was huge and it arrived hot and well packaged. The food was delicious, tasted very freshly made and was a lovely treat to have restaurant food for the first time in a while! We would definitely order this again.

A very unpleasant exchange at J Reserve, on the Grove in Ilkley, they have a sign saying takeaway coffee available. I wheeled my bike towards the front door and was met by an agresive 'you can't bring that in here'. I replied that I had no intention of bringing my bike in, to be told 'you can't leave it there' I was about to ask if the lady could then bring out a coffee for me to take away, but didn't get past 'could' before I got another 'you can't' at which point I cut her short (politely) and left. Oddly, I won’t be back.

Thank you for J reserve still opening there doors during this pandemic. I decided to order a take out cottage pie and lasagne, at a very resonable price I must admit. This home cooked food was unbeliavble and the cottage pie is the best I've ever had!!!! The lasagne was superb and I will definatley be sampling more on the menu. I will continue to support this local hidden gem not only during but also after this pandemic finished.Thanks!!!!!

During this very difficult time it has been great to order some great meals to vary our own repertoire. Lasagne with garlic bread...great. Beef bourguignon....superb. The sticky toffee pudding and custard a real indulgence. All delivered with a smile, what great service. Do try it

Sat outside in the sunshine at Jreserve had a fab coffee & gorgeous home made scone , , so lovely to see happy & smiling waitresses buzzing around the busy terrace , at a time of great hardship for many it made my day to see happy faces & enjoy at leisure my little treat ❤️

Wow, what a wonderful way to spend my birthday on Saturday! We were a party of 8 plus my 6 month old granddaughter and enjoyed THE most fabulous lunch and service. We all chose from the Specials Board - my King Prawn and Scallop Bruschetta was absolutely stunning although I still had serious food envy at all the other dishes!The restaurant was really busy but the staff were responsive, attentive, patient and good humoured, with ALL their customers!!A big thank you from me to ALL the team at J Reserve for making a very insignificant birthday really special!!

We visited this restaurant for lunch with our 2 year old and 4 month old having booked a table. We enjoyed the food (Chilli Nachos were excellent) but felt the service was quite disorganised and at time a little rude.

Yes, ok, I do frequent J Reserve a lot but I will only comment when the food and/or the staff have gone that bit above and beyond a very discerning customer if you will.

Absolutely wonderful! Food, staff and atmosphere were absolute fantastic! We tried to get into their cafe next door but they were full! However the owner said we could use their restaurant next door but choose things off the cafe menu if we wanted! Would definitely recommend and will be back! The themed nights look amazing x

I attended a private party at J Reserve (50th Birthday afternoon tea). The food was absolutely delicious - melt in the mouth smoked salmon, cream cheese & cucumber sandwiches, yummy arancini balls, perfect lemon posset - the right balance of sharpness. The staff were so warm and attentive - making sure we all had food and drinks but never being intrusive. Hot drinks at the end of the meal were very much appreciated. Exceptional customer service. I had heard amazing things about this restaurant but only ever popped in for a quick coffee. Will definitely visit again ASAP.

Definitely worthy of being the winner for this years award we had such high Hope's for two new establishments in ilkley 1 being the local ale house and eatery and the new gin bar lounge but neither had the genuine likeness for its customers and both slagged and slated individuals something truly unprofessional. Very well done to yourselves

Amazing food and lovely ambience

This was a find - well done Trip Advisor! Situated on the road side to the West End of the Town J Reserve has charm , a great choice and wonderful food. Despite calling for a light lunch which was very tasty the menu for the more substanial dishes looked very appetising. The kitchen team are very helpful and provide a quality service.

Me and my family stumbled across this place when outing in Ilkley. We had such a warm welcome from Julie and the team. The food menu was varied and catered for us all. Can’t wait to visit again!

I’m not one to write reviews, but having visited J Reserve on many occasions now over the last 12 months I have to say that I have never been disappointed with the food or service on any occasion.

Nice place just sat on the lower end of the high street, so easy to miss. Lovely tasty soup available on a cold day and the menu looked fine, although I didn't try anything else at the time. Good place for a cup of coffee too.
