Ivory Tusk in Spelthorne

This restaurant is not what it used to be, ate in the restaurant & had to listen to the staff in the kitchen arguing & shouting, along with the manageress. Very uncomfortable & toxic atmosphere. Manageress was rude & miserable, not very welcoming at all. Lovely Spanish waiter, along with English chef were the only members of staff trying to hold down the restaurant together whilst the arguments were going on. Manageress stormed past us with a face like thunder, very unprofessional. We will not be returning due to her attitude! Thank you to the chef & the waiter mentioned above for being so polite & friendly! They are wasted in this restaurant.

Came here tonight to meet friends as we love this place but unfortunately wasn’t a great experience, food was delicious as always and staff are very friendly and quick to stop and chat but the restaurant was so cold, we all kept our coats and scarf on whilst eating our dinner. Asked the waiter about the heating and he replied the heating takes a while to warm up?! Had a lovely evening with friends but sitting at the table trying to eat my meal with a thick coat on isn’t my idea of fun. Such a shame as this is the second time it’s happened so won’t be coming back untill the summer!!

We ate here with friends 5yrs ago that live locally and we had a great experience, the restaurant was vibrant. Sadly our recent experience wasn’t the same, when we asked for alcohol free beer we were told this place is for real drinkers ( it was probably a joke ) but for non drinkers or people in recovery that’s not a good response. These days most restaurants have at least one alcohol free larger / beer on offer. The food was good but standard Indian restaurant type. Chicken tikka was definitely the best of what we ordered. The Dahl was poor but the other sides and Nan bread we ok. It was a weekend night and no more than 4 tables were eating so maybe it’s not as it use to be. The waitress was lovely and very friendly. I don’t feel I’d return but hope this feedback makes them up their game a bit. I do wish them well, I just was expecting the same experience as my first visit.

Terrible service. We waited for 2 hours and our meals never arrived. The restaurant wasn't busy but we were told (when asked- they didn't come to apologise) that we were definitely next. After 2 hours we gave up and walked out. The manager offered nothing complementary. You would have thought they would take off at least 1 drink. But they were not apologetic at all. When we said we unfortunately wouldn't be back, the waitress said "okay have a nice night." Disgusting service. Avoid!!!!

First time at this restaurant and we will be returning - and we will also use take away service. The food was very fresh and tasty. The chicken bhuna was lovely. Service was very good and staff very friendly

We came to pick up our takeaway, slotted for 7.10pm, after ordering it at 6.20. At 7.50, it was finally ready. Numerous deliveroo orders came and went and the 3 front-of-house staff seemed to be struggling to keep up with the half-full restaurant. I love the food here and it’s a shame that their kitchen ordering system seemed to go that awry. I will not be ordering a takeaway from here again.

Excellent food, garlic naan was the best I have ever had. So fresh. Chicken korma was also the best I have every had. Service wasn't in your face, but attentive initially, when it came time to pay the bill it was hard to get any staff attention and when we got the bill, staff took a while to come back. Luckily we had cash so we didn't need to sit there any longer.

I have been going to Ivory tusk for many years and have to say, it is the best Indian food restaurant around. The food is always very tasty and ample amounts in each portion. The service is always attentive and polite. I have eaten in a lot of Indian restaurants and this is by far the best around and great value for the money. I have only ever had 2 take aways and always collect rather than have delivered via delivery. Full marks every time so well done to the Ivory Tusk team.

We recently returned to the Ivory Tusk as a family after a long period of time with lockdowns etc and we weren’t disappointed, the food is delicious and we are always looked after by this lovely family and their staff, we enjoyed it so much a couple of weeks back we returned again at the weekend and it was superb, thank you !

Very disappointed. We have eaten here in many occasions but ordered takeaway for delivery. Let us order online but didn’t arrive and when I called the restaurant I was told that didn’t work. Waiting to see if my bank account has been debited. Rubbish, the food used to be first class shame the service is definitely not.

Everything was lovely but it was SO cold in there!! But the end of the meal I had my coat back on as was freezing despite asking them to turn heating up/on. Sadly it really ruined it for me.

So decided to order delivery. First they stopped working with deliveroo. Ok, then their website doesn’t allow us to place an order. 4 calls later we can order for pickup over the phone, but delivery only via website (which doesn’t work). You can have the best food in the world, but if your service is rubbish you don’t have a business. Never using them again.

Ordered a take away with friends. They weren’t too impressed with their meals but I think it’s only fair for me to comment on my own meal which was chicken tikka madras. When i served it up I noticed immediately that the chicken didn’t look particularly like tikka. But nonetheless I could cope with that. However the madras sauce was very watery and lacked flavour. It was spicy but just somewhat bland and left a watery residue on the plate. So overall I was disappointed. A real shame as expectation was high based on previous reviews.

First time going to ivory tusks, hands down the best madras I’ve ever had. The sauce isn’t greasy, it’s thick and full Of flavour with tender bits of generous amounts of lamb. The rice is great too. Really impressed, tried the nans no and they were lovely on own and great for dipping in the sauce. Impressed and good price and expecially good value considering the quality. Thanks again 🙌🙌

OMG!! Wow! This has got to be the most amazing Indian restaurant in Surrey bar none! We heard that there is a new Chef and thought we would try it. The Manager/owner Musa Rashid has apparently come back out from the kitchen, after a couple of years of hard craft during Covid, due to public demand. He has been front of house for 28 years prior to this, and believe me, he makes this place move to another level! We had the most amazing food, service and it was really busy Saturday night. We cannot wait to return, The Ivory Tusk is reborn!

I was blown away by the level of care and customer service soon as i walked in! The beautiful decor and warm welcome received was exceptional. The quality of food was out of this world! Each dish ordered was bursting with flavour and taste! You can taste each spice with every bite! The staff are wonderful, warm and friendly. One of the best Indian restaurants i have ever visited! I Highly recommend this place Thank you all !

Came here for a birthday celebration, the food was devine and service from Musa was wonderful, giving 4 🌟stars because the first waiter brought our juice for prosecco with ice when we asked without, whiskey with ice, again we asked without ice and then they took the ice out of whiskey and brought the same drink in the same glass. Never asked us for more drinks, my bf ordered a drink that never came.

Awful food hardly any meat in the curry and certainly not chicken and lamb tikka called politely to say hardly any meat and was told never come to my restaurant again so I said I wanted a refund to he told come and get it and never come here again. Absolutely awful and from the manager …. Avoid!

An absolutely uniquely brilliant Indian restaurant in Shepperton. We go there on a regular basis as the food is gorgeous Indian food, always freshly cooked . The tables and restaurant itself are always super clean which is hard to find nowadays. The service is excellent. Some true professionals of the restaurant business always happy to welcome you when you arrive . Well done and thank you.

I ordered a meal for Deliveroo delivery. The delivery time got bumped by over an hour. I phoned the Ivory Tusk to find out what was causing the delay. The guy was very rude, just said ‘we’re very busy’ and put the phone down on me! Won’t be using them again.

Ordered for for delivery after it was rated the best in the area on an app. How that has happened is beyond me. Food arrived and every single dish had no flavour or spicing added to it. Just bland, badly cooked food. Avoid it go eat ANYWHERE else. Can't complain through apps for the food not being nice, so threw it away and ordered from our usual and then normal service was resumed!

Really disappointing, used to be a really nice restaurant. Food was nice but very slow. Service was shocking and staff were very rude. Restaurant was extremely cold even after asking if the heating could be put on. Everything seemed too much trouble for the staff...

During lockdown we had a take away as we use the Ivory Tusk quite often. Unfortunately it was terrible!!so I rang and complained and explained my reasons why. No problem I was told when we re open we will make it up to you. So tonight we visited and reminded the owner. .We got our meal and my wife's food wasn't cooked. So we eventually got her food to Goa's I ate mine while waiting. When we left they charged us the full amount. We paid and will never return. The Ivory Tusk is going downhill fast?!

this is my 4th time i have witness this scenario, last week when i was dining with my wife some customer came and requested for a table they was refused because they were travelers, one of the waiter came and quickly said they are trouble...

Greedy owner causing chaos. Placed an order on new years eve, early in the day for collection at 7.15pm. Arrived at 7.05 to find a queue of 20 odd people outside all waiting to collect their order, whilst inside the owner is constantly taking new orders on the phone. Rather than take the names of people who were waiting by collection time, people were left to form a random queue to get inside... Once you finally got inside and announced your name you were placed into a queue of food to be cooked regardless of original order time. Myself and several of the people around me waited an 1 hour and 10 minutes for our food to be ready despite arriving on time. Chefs could be heard shouting and swearing in the kitchen, presumably due to the ever growing list of orders being submitted. Would never order from here again, ruined our new years eve through pure greed overuling any business sense.

visited this restaurant on 05/12/2020 with friends, the foods in this place is very good, the service is a disaster, most of the time you will see the waiters and waitress chatting in bar area rather than the asking the customers if they want anymore...

Myself and my family visited this restaurant on a Sunday evening at 6.30pm, there was only one other table occupied and after they left it was just us until we left around 8.30pm. It seemed busy for takeaways though so maybe with Covid etc people prefer not to eat out so much these days. The lady who greeted us was incredibly polite and friendly and the gentleman that served us was very attentive and friendly too.The food:- we had the 2 different types of onion bhaji for starters which were both lovely, it was nice to try both as we only ever thought there was 1 kind. 2 of us had Bhuna (my husband said it was amazing!) and 2 of us had biryani, I have to say the curry that came with the biryani was really lovely!! And onto the naan bread....wow!! Just wow!! We had plain and peshwari and asked for them to be well done so they had the lovely burnt bits on the edge, yum! The peshwari one came out looking like a turkish balloon bread, full of hot air straight from the clay oven! It was a light bread, not thick like some restaurants, it was literally melt in the mouth, INCREDIBLE!!All in all we had such a lovely meal, yes it's a bit pricey for a family of 4 (£110) but it's definitely a special occasion place that we will revisit.

Made an order online which took almost 2 hours to arrive when originally it was 40 minutes, then when the food finally arrived it was cold. phoned multiple times and each time they said ‘ it will be 10/15 minutes’ we only lived 15 minutes from the restaurant so won’t order again

This was a favourite of ours and we have eaten in frequently on Friday or Saturday evenings. This time what a disappointment. We arrived promptly at 7 and we didn’t get our starters until 8.45!Clearly the restaurant was short staffed as the manager could be seen giving orders from the kitchen. He is usually front of house. We got poppadums promptly but then we were ignored. We had to ask for the menu and then ask several times for our order to be taken. It was also freezing cold as the front door was almost permanently open.The reason for this terrible service was clear. Takeaways were going out the door at the rate of one every two minutes and all the effort was being directed at this. There was no urgency to serve those sitting down as the restaurant would not be getting a second sitting in before the 10pm curfew.The food when it did arrive was its usual high standard but I had waited so long and was so cold I couldn’t enjoy it.If you treat your regular customers with such disdain hey won’t bother coming back. Close the restaurant and concentrate on takeaways. Prioritising takeaways was definitely a clear strategy on the part of the restaurant and an insult to those eat in customers.

I am very surprised at some of the more recent reviews for this restaurant, whilst I haven't yet eaten at the restaurant (we plan to soon) we have had at least 5 take away's in the last 3 months since first using/ordering from the Ivory Tusk. The lady who usually takes the orders is really polite and accommodating. Whilst not on the menu I asked for chicken Pathia and they were happy to cook it for me and it was the best I have had in ages, my partner usually always chooses chicken Madras and he also said it was great so we were, and have continued to be, very pleased with the food at this restaurant and will not be put off by any of the negative comments regarding the food itself (as I cannot comment on any restaurant experience having not yet visited in person mainly because initially it was only offering take-away orders due to COVID).

Probably only 3 quality Indian restaurants in the local area, despite the number around most are not worth even trying. This is certainly in that 3. Consistent, good quality takeaway. Excellent in house service, friendly & competent with spotless interior.

I initially called up asking if i could use 1 taste card for 4 people (should of checked online to get the CORRECT information) but the guy on the phone said "yes you can use 1 taste card for 4 people". I then got to the restaurant and again asked the guy clearly and simply " 1 taste card 4 people" again he said "yes that fine". It comes to the paying the bill we give the taste card and only one meal had been removed, I questioned this very polity and then i received the worst and most rude response. Not taking any responsibility for their staff giving me the wrong information, not even an apology. Saying that i should of looked online and that his staff don't give the rules. I was not bothered paying the extra as it was small but it was just the way he went around responding to it. Been here loads and has always been great :(

Our first visit here and maybe not our last but in an era when there is so much food on offer (literally with cheap offers) I felt this was a little pricey. The food was good though I had never seen an Onion Pakora cooked as it was - seemingly a lot of battered onion strips dumped on a plate. My wife had a dish that cost the same as mine but she had 50% more chicken than I did and hers tasted fresh whereas mine didn't. Service was reasonable as they were busier than they expected. There isn't much competition in Shepperton but I will try further afield first before returning

Went this evening with my husband an Son an couldn’t believe how rude the staff were! Walked in with a table booked an all the front of house staff were so busy accommodating this guy who wanted tables they didn’t even acknowledge us! His rude! I run my own business an meet an greet is paramount... told them to cancel our table an would never go back.. School of spice across road was amazing

Possibly the best Indian meal I have ever eaten. Both the Tandoori prawns and the naan were melt-in-the-mouth.

To be honest the food was discusting the girl waiters looked about 14 and was doing my alchole drinks the service was slow and there was a man sat there on his tablet why I asked to place an order never again

If you enjoy Indian food this place is hard to beat. Contemporary style restaurant always friendly, efficient staff and fab food. Any dish we have tried has been excellent but there's always a peshwari naan on the table, best ever!

not totally sure they're allowed to enforce service charge but they added it to our bill. There were seven of us , the food as always was very good , service although slow was ok. But I'm verypeed off at the final bill with service charge worked out £35 per person , for me that's too expensive for a high street curry house. Been many times before but it could easily long time before I go back.

As a fan of Indian food, when away on business I alway like to try different restaurants, and this one is about a 20 minute walk from the holiday inn at Shepperton. Some previous reviews puzzled me, the staff here are great and the service really good, drinks were delivered promptly, and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time given how busy it was.

First time at this restaurant, the food was really good ,great menu choices.would definitely go again when in the country . My only criticism is they took a long time to take out drinks order .and the table was to small for 4 people to sit on there . I will explain this issue you put ththe warming plates on so on 4 mains course bowels come 4 rice Bowles 2 more bowels and nann bread just not enough room on the table .i know they we’re busy but next time I will ask for a large table wathewarming plates

This is the third time I’ve visited here. Each time the service has got worse. They are more interested in their takeaway orders than actually providing a decent service for eat in customers. The drinks service was terrible and cutlery was dirty. I would advise going elsewhere in Shepperton, recommend the school of spice across the road or Mumbai square near the station both are clean and have staff who are actually interested in providing a good service to their clientele. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

Terrible ! Visited at 6pm and only 8 people in the restaurant. Coke was flat . Waited 45 mins for our starter so we ended up leaving and going to another restaurant. Absolutely shocking service and I would recommend you avoid the ivory tusk.

Ordered takeaway vegetable madras plus more, it was full of packet frozen vegetables, if I wanted packet frozen vegetables I would have gone to Iceland's, highly priced packet food, also ordered tandoori chicken masala that cost over £9 , chicken was white, the only time it saw any spice was was in was plonked in the sauce when served, my takeaway order came to over £30 for 2 people and the food was low quality for high price, will never go their again

The food is absolutely delicious , the staff are really friendly and helpful. The prices are not too bad and quite good for the quality and quantity. There is loads to choose form. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves Indian food .
