Istanbul Meze Mangal in Merton

We celebrated my 50th birthday and booked the place at Colliers Wood branch on March 15, 2024 which is a Friday. There is belly dancing during Fridays and Saturdays. We have ordered a lot of the family platter menu whilst waiting for the highlight of the evening which is belly dancing which was scheduled at 9:30pm when we asked one of servers. Then 9:30pm came, no sign of a belly dancer; we asked another server and he said that she’s not coming at all. When we asked another server, he was saying maybe around 15mins wait…when we asked the manager - he’s now saying that the belly dancer called in sick and doesn’t even know the reason as to why dhe was sick. Our group of 16 people has waited for ages to be disappointed in the end. Very poor service. No consistency even with simple communication issue.

Came just before Christmas. The service was a bit slow but the food was great!

I went there last Monday for the third time. I like the atmosphere and good service there. As usual I ordered the Meze that I like which is tzaziki, but I was shocked when I found a long hair in it, it was really disappointing and disgusting. I do not think I will go there any more.

Love this place , great food , large portions and tasty. Went on a Tuesday reasonably filled with public .. ofc better on Friday/Saturday due to belly dancer.. not bad for a Tuesday well worth a visit ... staff are very accommodating and friendly... furniture is comfortable and good music . So close to a 5 star ... visit and tell me different

Shisha foarte slaba , calitate pret , mai ales pentru un fumator cu experienta , narghilele foarte vechi , arome slabe care se ard destul de repede , in schimb personalul foarte amabil ! Pentru aroma de shisha premium nu merita 30£ .

Istanbul meze has restaurant and on the side shisha lounge where food can also be served.cosy shisha place, food was good we ordered steak 😋 but the weldone was a little pink. Shisha was amazing the flavour we ordered was lady killer, jus perfect mild for first timers

I've been here probably 7 times, and each time has been perfect. The food is delicious and the ambience is nice too. Customer service is great, although one assistant that served me and my 2 cousins before wasn't nice at all.. was quite rude, in fact, and I was very close to saying something back but thought...what would that assistant know any better? PERHAPS, just go home if you dont like your job? Anyway, the food comes in big portions and is consistently delicious. They close late too, which is good and there's parking around the area.

Locally one of the best Turkish restaurants! Portions are very generous. Plenty of seating. You get complimentary bread before your meal comes.

This spot is great for birthdays, or catching up with friends as well as a romantic dinner. We love it here always well looked after especially by our Persian waitress. Food is always fresh and everyone is friendly and knowledgeable.

I have been here many times and enjoyed the food and service. However, went today for an anniversary meal with my wife and one of my young daughter. I reserved a table as I knew it would be busy due to the bank holiday. When we arrived we saw the waiter having a conversation with the manager I think. I stated that I booked a table, but the waiter probably misheard heard me thinking we just walked in and looking for a table. The waiter then says to me do you mind sitting in the corner as a lot of reservations have been made. We reluctantly accepted. For some reason whenever we go we are shoved in the corner or away from the lively side of the restaurant. Maybe I am looking too much into it but it seems like they intentionally seat customers according to their races or maybe it’s just coincidence. So after being seated we were not given any menus for 10mins. The waiter came to take our order when we didn’t have any menus. When we were given the menu it’s like they forgot about us and came after 10mins for our order. They usually give complimentary bread but it came with all our food and was stale and disgusting like old bread re heated. The food was of good standard but was disappointed that the sriolin steak came with fries instead of steak cut chips. Not happy this visit. Staff need to be more attentive and treat all ethnicities the same.

All of the food is beautiful here, especially the lamb and shish. They use good meat and it’s cooked perfectly. The staff are extremely welcoming and friendly, they go above and beyond to look after you and are consistently very kind. I’ve been coming for around 10 years and it only gets better. Would highly recommend for a casual dinner or a celebration. Cannot fault them and we always come back. Thank you for always looking after us!

I usually like a shish kebab in Turkish restaurants, and I’ve found this to be the best - in other restaurants, the meat is often overcooked/burnt around the edges, but is consistently beautifully cooked here. There is no charge for the flat bread and there is always plenty of fresh salad/rice/couscous or chips. My daughter and I love to eat here - she likes the lamb ribs.

If you like vast amounts of meat accompanied by blaring rap music all evening, then this is your kind of restaurant. We will not be returning.

One of my great decisions to have food here. I heard about this place a while back but only got the chance to visit it during the day but I will surely visit at night, which is recommended. Do make your reservations before you go. Now, to the food. It was "Amazing" The platter for a single person is well enough, I couldn't finish it.😁 The bread was complimentary with the dips and it was a wonderful start towards the main course. The mix kebab platter was mouth watering. The meat was tender and the doner kabab and chicken was perfectly done. I am sure, YOU will enjoy it.

I came with my friends and it was fantastic .. Outside waiters were very hospitable and well mannered . The bengali guy with beard was serving us and he was very kind and his service was really good. Been going instanbul for years. Visited Instanbul in May found a Hair in my food I gave them the benefit of the doubt. I went back today and received the must horrible service ever, I felt very rushed they brought out a cake without me asking and then when asked why they made an excuse of saying becuase of my daughter they thought I wanted to go when other children was in there running around and my daughter was sitting down nicely. I will never Be returning again. Horrible horrible experience and definitely not one I expect after spending £100 with yourselves. Highly disappointed

We ordered takeaway. The food was inedible. My wife had a moussaka which apparently tasted as bad as it looked. I had a Falafel wrap. At first we thought they'd forgotten to pack it but there was. a very thin, very tightly wrapped tinfoil package. No hummus, no salad, wrapped in a soggy flatbread. I tasted a bit of the falafel it was far too salty to eat. It all came with soggy funny tasting chips, neither of us could quite place what the flavour was. If I was to guess to cool them down someone had dropped them in a bucket of water. Really disappointing as if a tiny bit of care had been taken this would have been lovely. Ignore the high scoring reviews this place is a dump.

We had breads and kebabs and all were phenomenally good. The belly dancing, however, was slightly awkward but with good intentions. Portion sizes are excellent and the quality good. My only advice would be to consider whether wanting to be a shisha bar or a serious restaurant because the garden area doesn't align very well with what they offer inside.

Our First time going to this place.. Always wanted to go.. The food was amazing the portions were incredible and the staff were nice and friendly especially Kaz, who was helpful also the waitresses who were also friendly and efficient. Definitely recommend this place if you haven't been.. The large platter was ample for 5/6 people. Definitely will be going back soon 👍👍👍👍👍

Horrible place. My back has been sticked to wooden piece of the chair. This convinced me to don't order anything because dirty. As well I know this is Shisha place and this is ok but they are allowing to smoke normal cigarettes. After 10 minutes you will smell like ash tray. Never again

Called to order a collection. Was told they are too busy. Didn’t even get chance to tell them the order was going to be In the region of £750 Turned up in person to order and place was empty (see photo) and waiter was particularly Marty as well saying that they were expecting a busy night and so collections were not being accepted. Used to eat here a lot. Gone downhill over the last few years. Probably insist on people sitting down to make the place look busy. Broken chairs, scruffy upholstery, only one high chair for a child that’s also broken, rude staff, all become too commonplace and sometime intimidating if you don’t fit the demographic of their preferred clientele. Food is nice but that is only ever and always one part of eating out. Hopefully they will learn this one day.

We went to the restaurant for Fathers Day which just completely ruined the day. Firstly we were seated at a table for 2 people we were a party of 3 the table was far too small & crowded when we asked to move to a bigger table the manager was rude & told us he had other bookings we reminded him we had also booked a table for 3 not a table for 2. Looking around the restaurant there were at least 2 other tables with the same problem also asking to move. The restaurant was clearly over booked & it was clear everyone was being rushed so they could get the next diners in. We ordered our starters & mains & we’re asked if we wanted all the food at once or the starters first then the mains we advised we wanted the starts first & the mains later once the starters were finished we were asked this by 3 different members of staff including the manager despite confirming 3 times our mains were brought out shortly after the starters we sent them back & told them we had confirmed 3 times we wanted the starters after the mains then every 2 minutes we had a member of staff come & ask if we were ready for the mains which was extremely annoying & frustrating. When the mains arrived one of the three mains were cold by the time another was cooked the other 2 diners had finished their meal. The food was not that great in-fact quite bland it’s definitely not as nice as it used to be & has really gone downhill. I would not return or recommend . The restaurant was overbooked overcrowded people sat on tables that were too small & crowded the service was poor it was clear there was no care or attention to detail everything was rushed it felt like was in a factory everything rushed to get you in & out so the next diners could take your place. The customer service was terrible & it was clear the manager don’t care as long as his sitting as many diners as possible there was no apologies for any of the mistakes made to us. Customer service was poor the food was poor & rushed really poor experience not the Father’s Day meal we were expecting.

I went their last friday with my friends in inside,decoration was very nice inside and the manager and stuff was very nice,specially I appreciate managers work,how he managed to gave us a table in rush time..cocktails was top notch..will visit again soon…

Please train your staff to understand starters before main NOT brought to table at the same time. 3 times had to ask the waiter to remove main as starters have not been served. Very disappointing service.

Last night I visited with my friends. We had dinner and shesha. We enjoyed it a lot. The taste of the food was delicious. The staff is friendly. It is a good place to spend time with Friends and family and have fun and food.

We have been welcomed by a nice staff, we got seated and a lovely waitress called Soltana served us which was perfect with a smile and very accommodating. We have ordered some starters which wear not great but not so bad at the same time. After starters we have ordered mix grill for 2 combination, huge portion but no quality , very far from traditional Turkish food. During the main course our waitress have ended her shift and no customer service afterwards not mentioned the quality of the food, the restaurant concentrating on quantity but no quality. Very sorry for my review, but I would like to help you more than criticise you. At the end of the meal that we couldn’t even eat we have asked for a takeaway boxes and we have got the cheapest takeaway boxes ever. One more thing, when we called to book, they said they have a belly dancer as entertainment which we never sow and when we asked , they said she is not coming Message to the owner, stop walking around clueless, pay attention to the service and the customers. If you want vibes, great food, desserts, drinks they have it all and to top it off. A great selection of shisha flavours. Could not ask for more in a great location.

Lamb shish was like it was old and re heated. Pawn star martini was not a pawn star martini, like something out of a ready made bottle

Food is weak, starters are fantastic but main courses are just boring and lackluster flavourless, I would recommend you go and order 3/4 starters rather than getting a main course. Service is good and place looks nice and clean otherwise

Food was nice and reasonable priced. Portion was huge. I've never taken a doggy bag before because I always finish my food but I had at least 50% still on my plate. Nice place.

After a long hike at the wandle trail the meat plates at the Istanbul Meze Mangal looked irresistible. I had a combination lamb shish and doner plate which was delicious; lamb was soft and tender; unfortunately only two small pieces of the shish could be found. The doner covered most of my plate, matched with salad and two types of pilaf rice. I tried a bit of my friend's ali Nazik plate , aubergine puree topped with adana kebab pieces, which was very tasty, the kebab on the oily side a bit, but again just a few spoonfuls of aubergine puree. The starter, an aubergine salad, was not matching the quality of the other dishes. The red wine was great though. To sum it up, the 3 stars are for the quantity not the quality of the food. A bit more lamb shish and aubergine puree please! Service was exceptional to add here

If you look for authentic Turkish food with Ambiente this is not the place to go. It felt more like a clubbing place, loud music and bright lights everywhere. Nothing we are used from a traditional Turkish restaurant. We went to open iftar in Ramadan. No dates were provided as you would know from well suiated restaurants. Service was OK but female staff was in short skirts again not really reflecting Turkish traditions. Food was OK but it upsetted my stomach for 2 days, so would not go again. Heard so much of it and was a real disappointment.

This is the REAL Türkiye Kebab place in London!! I love all the foods they serve, particularly Adana Kebab! The kebabs come with rice, couscous, bread and salad and the portion is generous (especially if you take them away). 👍👍👍

The actual restaurant is very clean, and looks soo beautiful. Great atmosphere. Food was not good! I ordered a plate of rice, with mixed lamb, chicken and Shish. The rice was re-heated and had a big lump in the middle. There was ridiculous amounts of dinner kebab. Was only passing through with my kids. Staff was not too friendly, which is a shame.

Very slow service, however large plates. Shishas always quite good.

I've gone past this place many times and not realised it was there really tucked away. Glad I experienced it and I will be back. Great service.

Great restaurant with large portions. A little bit expensive but it's worth it when you see the portion you get and the quality of food. Nice service and nice restaurant inside. Also they have a shisha bar next door which is good at night.
