I have been using Istanbul Mangal weekly for 5+ years. In all that time I have never had a bad meal. The food is always exceptionally fresh, well prepared, plentiful and tastes delicious. The Staff are always extremely friendly, helpful and generous. The premises are always clean, tidy and well presented. Overall, an excellent experience.

Meat quality is fairly decent for kebab shop, the shop is incredibly clean and the staff are very pleasant... Real bonus is they have managed to keep there prices still fairly low during the time of higher rates absolutely fair play to them

Real doner! One of the best doner eat!

Came in today to get a lamb shish kofte combination it was delicious. Whilst waiting for a kebab I had a turkish tea with a Turkish delight it was very kind of them offering. Everyone had smiley faces will be definitely coming back.

Had a kebab last night was amazing as usual portion sizes where more than what I expected!!! Tasteful kebabs best in the area without a doubt

I used to order from there on a weekly basis, not anymore. I think they change a management as few months ago something changed. They used to provide a great service now seems like they are more bothered about making quit profit rather than work to make the customer return. Food still good and fresh but the portions seems to be a lot smaller. Not a welcoming atmosphere anymore. Shame.

Chips improve, Cod and chips is smaller but cheaper. Not sure if the cod is fresh. Authentically Turkish, decent halloumi and great service

Honestly Terrible!! The portions have got stupidly small, the chicken shish was completely bland no flavour at all, the lamb Doner was undercooked with no colour whatsoever, the house chilli sauce was freezing cold. Nasty bottled overpowering garlic sauce, seriously Shocking! last time going here! Ephesus grill alot better

I always use the van but fancied a mixed kebab so gave this a go. Pleasantly surprised, ready for collection on time, hot, and tasted good.

This is the best kebab I’ve ever had and highly recommend it to everyone, very clean, spectacular customer service and most importantly, delicious food. I recommend everyone that they get the Chicken shish and chips as in my personal opinion, and all meats are not processed.

I come here as we haven’t been for a while and every time I come here the food was nice unfortunately this time I have to say it was terrible. My mrs and son had doner meat and chips and I had a mixed kebab. Hardly any doner meat on all meals which was very greasy and stringy and the chicken was the same. It was that greasy the pitta bread turned back in to dough and was literally falling apart. I hope they can turn this around as the staff are always friendly and the restaurant is always clean.

We ordered £50 worth of food, every single bit of it was cold; portion sizes not worth what they charge and they were stingy with both meat and sauce.

Lovely staff, tasty food. Clean and well presented restaurant. We had a mixture of lamb and chicken from the grill with salads and an onion ring side. The food we took away was hot, flavourful and well packaged to takeaway. We ordered online for collection - simple.

Simply outstanding. Popped in because I was in the area and heard recommendations. Had a sit in lamb doner and was surprised to find it served on a plate, immaculately presented with a pitta on the side. Superb house chili sauce, non greasy, delicious meat, clean and dry plate at the end. I had forgotten a doner could be this good, I would travel to come back. No idea what are people complaining about in the feedback...... Just try this place, it's clean, plenty of seating and friendly staff. Terrific.

We hadn't been for a while so we thought let's go out for dinner with our two little ones. We got two mix donner meat and chips, wings for the kids and couple of drinks. The chips tasted like they were left out and put back in the oil to reheat them. My son who loves chips like all kids, didn't like them at all which was a first. We bought 5 wings and were shocked on the size and quality of them. They were tiny and charged £6 for it!! We took the remains with us out of politeness as we didn't want to be rude but ended up throwing them away which I normally don't like to do. They weren't great at all and had a horrible smell. On top of that, they offered if we want chilli sauce and had the cheek to charge for it which I was astounded as I have never ever paid for sauce in a restaurant/take away. When I brought to the workers attention about the chips, he said they were made fresh and it was just an "odd bag" and sometimes it happens. Another odd response - blaming the bag of chips 🤦 Had to go back and feed the kids dinner at home which was disappointing as they did not enjoy it at all so sorry but not going back again.

We went there yesterday 9/4/22 me and my partner haven't had one from hear for a while so we thought we treat ourselves especially as last time we had one it was lovely. Well it turned out to be a big mistake when we got home we noticed they plastered chilli sauce all over the donner kebab and put the wrong salad on it okay it dont sound that bad but my partner is allergic too tomatoes and he don't have sauce, so back in the car we go he takes it back they did apologise and gave him a new one well lets put it this way it wasn't very warm and in the mean time mine was getting cold as we had to go back to intanbul to change his kebab. i had a chicken shish it was okay but not the best we wont be going back hear again thats for sure.

I haven't eaten out for two years, so haven't posted any reviews during that time. And I can't recall every having had a takeaway! But this afternoon my visitor rang around various places in Tilehurst and this appeared to be the only one that was open. Despite having lived here for 47 years, I couldn't place exactly where it was and advised my friend to park in Armour Road - meaning a walk up School Road. (Still, I was able to point out to her the various amenities.) The guy serving us was very pleasant, though I was a little surprised that it was "cash only". Back home, my friend pointed out to me the various ingredients, which I enjoyed. They were tasty and well-presented. And there's enough left-overs for two more lunches!

Having recently moving to Tilehurst and being partial to a kebab I thought I would give Istanbul mangal ago having heard a lot of good comments on the food and wow it’s sure didn’t let me down BY FAR THE BEST KEBAB I HAVE EVER HAD!!!! The price was a little more expensive than a typical kebab van but the value for money is exceptional baring in mind you get real tasty non processed meat compared to the kebab vans brought processed lamb donner. The staff were very welcoming and friendly the premises were very clean and display cabinets were very Enticing. Honestly couldn’t recommend this place enough you’d be foolish not to give this place ago and as for kebab vans they no longer have my custom.

A lovely little kebab house with very friendly and very accommodating staff. Tried this place for the first time this evening and impressed by the quality of the food. I had a wonderful chat with the guy that served me. It's spotlessly clean, there is the option to eat in at no extra cost and if you do, they provide plates and cutlery. This joint is just a few minutes walk from my house and I'll certainly be back.

Excellent food. Lamb shish is very tender unlike most other places and the donner kebab also doesn't leave the greasy after taste. Friendly staff with a great sense of humour.

We use this as our goto takeaway we love the food and the team are great blokes they are friendly and outgoing always happy and attentive our daughter loves there food and even made them there burger for the counter amazing food tasty good quality and flavour is amazing a must go to place to eat only wish they did fried chicken. Order here every weekend guys working our top blokes working hard to get food right always make tasty food kebabs are tasty a must for me takeaway as always.

Ordered a chicken shish based on a friend’s recommendation - using the online ordering service it was ready exactly as stated. As per most kebab places the small portion was still substantial, however unlike others the meal was not greasy, instead incredibly flavoursome. Chips also tasted great, would highly recommend.

Food absolutely amazing as always-other half tried the Special Kebab tonight and couldn’t eat it all, which is a positive result. Just recommended to my Mum for my Dad’s bday take away!!! Thank you!

Always my go to for a treat. I tend to have the lamb or chicken shish and it is such good meat and marinade, and very reasonably priced. With the way its cooked fresh and the salad I even feel it is doing me good 🙂

I was a VERY regular, regular here for years. I knew it was a banger then but i have since moved from the area (far far away to the land of no kebabs) and holy moly i didnt know i could miss a bab shop like i miss this one. super friendly staff, very very clean. The chilli and garlic sauce is like nothing else. it's actually made in there! (unlike like the sad, out the bottle, synthetic sauces I'm now being dealt). This is what a kebab is meant to be. if you're used to sad babs after a night out only to wake up with meaty paper stuck to your leg in the morning, please try this sober, i swear it will blow your mind! this kebab deserves sober respect, it is not a drunken meal!
