Istanbul Bar and Grill in High Peak

This is the first time I've been to Isranbul since coming back to town. It will not be the last. They've been there for quite some time. Great gyro. I mean it. Really, as good as you'll ever get in town. Lots of lamb/beef with wonderful sauce and veg on a fresh pita. Other dishes I saw were well presented and looked good. Yes, the place is not fancy. But there is parking. Good lunch specials. Do yourself a favor and try it.

First time was good. Second time was really bad. Bold spotted guy is very rude

Husband and I came here for lunch. Food was delicious! Chicken was perfectly seasoned. They were very generous with meat and prices were amazing for downtown Norfolk. Super friendly staff. Definitely recommending this place!

A twist to a Mediterranean recipes

Lamb/beef gyro was amazing! Lots of meat and pita was fluffy. The hummus was also very unique, I’ve never had it tangy like the way it was. I would definitely get it again. We also had the baklava which was warm and gooey. Would 100% come here again.

Wow, this is good food! Authentic as you can get here in the US the gyro here really hits the spot. Parking is a bit questionable but once you get a spot you find out that it is worth the hassle. This is a small diner type shop with only 3 people operating it and Kenny is the host, waiter, cashier, and busser. Kenny was great to talk to and is very kind and helpful. I definitely recommend stopping by and having a delicious meal.

We were at VA beach/Norfolk on our family vacation. After tiring but much worthy visit of Nauticus and Battleship Wisconsin we found this place. Even the neighborhood did not seem to be very appealing but food was very tasteful. Prices for lunch special was great and service was acceptable. Two of my kids are picky eater but they both like their Gyro and Chicken platter.

I ordered a 19 dollar platter. It came with one tsasiki sauce and very small portions of everything. Also, the chicken and meatball was dissapointing.

I love gyros, Mediterranean food, shawarma's and all related flavors and everywhere I go I always tend to order the gyro if they offer it. From California all the way to Florida and I have not tasted Shawarma like this one. They don't just cut it and put it on the plate, they char broil the meat on a charcoal grilland throw they're own love into it giving it a very distinct flavor and it's delicious it's the best gyro for me that I've ever had. Very legit, it's a must try in Virginia. I'm from Florida and work here often and always look forward to eating here. My VA go to for real!!!

The lentil soup that was served was watery one bowl cold and the other was hot. They heated it and brought it to us and was not made the same day. The dining area was not clean or maintained. I do not recommend this place

Pick up Stix Over priced food. Order was incorrect, asked to have a entree sent to us they said would be complimentary but they couldn’t deliver. . We were on the road for 6 hours wanted a decent meal did not get one. Pad Thai was horrible! The so called fried rice was mushy on one side, undercooked on the other side.paid more to add egg,did not receive it.

I ordered the gyro. It came wrapped in a fried pita bread (awesome!) tomatoes, onions and the tsatziki sauce which tasted sooooo good! The entire meal was fantastic and if you've ever been overseas and tried gyros there, you'll get the same experience here in Norfolk. Really really good food.

Lamb Gyro was the bomb & their Baklava has pistachios, enough said!

Went last night for a meal with 6 friends The food was excellent! Well presented tasty and hot. I can recommend the chicken sizzler which i had spicy. Started with hot mixed sharing platter nice selection of nibbles served with homemade lavash bread . Service by Ali and a girl not sure of her name was very friendly and attentive. Thanks to Bezat, Ali and Hassan in the kitchen. Will be back again soon

Food is not where near the price you pay my chicken kebab player was $16 ($2 for the Greek salad and $14 for the actual platter) baklava was $5 for these two tiny bites. Don't waste your time or money on this place and go elsewhere unless you're wanting a pretty decent but still $6 hummus and pita which you also don't get that much. I understand the pandemic is making things harder, but this is not exactly worth the effort. Edit: my wife got the beef and lamb platter ($14) didn't get her lamb, only the beef. Will honestly say the beef was pretty good.

Well what can I say Me and hubby was a away for a few days from Essex and fancy something nice for a evening meal We order starters which was very watery and they bought out bread and garlic butter. The bread was salty We asked for the VIP sharer when asked what it came its both the girls didn’t even know. When it came again food was over salted. Also has you can see with the picture we had rice and salad plus two side dips. Fine but my husband doesn’t eat rice had we known we would have asked if could have chips instead of rice but the girls didn’t even know what the meal came with. Staff should be aware of what they are serving Definitely don’t recommend this place at all. Also one of the girls looked like she has just left the gym with gym leggings on and trainers.

I throw away there beef platter to the garbage ! The meat was nasty and old !!! I will never order online food again from this restaurant

First time here. Not sure if we ordered the wrong thing but not impressed. I got the iskender platter the bread they put under all the meat is soggy and almost reached dough consistency. The grape leaves taste canned and the tzatziki is most definitely not made in house. The meat is really flavorful, which is why I’m leaving the 3 stars. I’m Bulgarian and I manage a Mediterranean restaurant. This was just not satisfactory. Sorry!

If you prefer delicious authentic gyros and kebabs, this is sa great place to visit. Located in the heart of downtown Norfolk VA.

Just placed a delivery order for delivery at 8pm and ordered well in advance at 1830 (first time customer) for a not insignificant amount. Notified by my bank first that I received a refund and then a text from restaurant to say they had cancelled order, no direct phone call and no real explanation. Phoned the restaurant and they said they were too busy to deliver. I said I could pick up and they said they had already cancelled the order so not possible. Shocking service. Won’t be given a 2nd chance.

One of my favorite restaurants in Norfolk. The gyros are delicious. I usually get the Greek salad with gyro meat. Adding a side of hummus is always great too. definitely one of my go-tos when I'm in town

Booked a table after being recommended by a friend. Glad we did. The service was excellent, waiting on staff very polite. The front of house gentlemen was going above and beyond for all customers in a very busy restaurant. I must mention that there was a rude lady sat on the table behind us and she was treated with nothing but politeness and great service which is more than she deserved. I had the Hummus to start, the homemade bread was delicious. Hubby had bruschetta also delicious. I then had the lamb cutlets. Full of flavour. Absolutely divine. Even the rice is worth a mention. Everything was well presented. Hubby had the beef sizzler. He said it was the best meal he had in a long time. We will be going again.

Shocking service, waited over an hour for food. Lamb moussaka was lacking lamb, replacement was brought and was cold. Seated downstairs as restaurant was full. Please avoid this place if you would like a quality meal and good service.

this is my first time ordering from here. I ordered the beef kabab with rice and a side salad. They put my side salad in the same box as the rest of my food. Now my salad is warm. A soggy salad? Disappointed for sure.

Great place for an authentic Turkish meal! Once you walk in, your happily greeted by an associate at the store. Guess what, he is also Turkish from Istanbul. Hint, hint, restaurant name Istanbul Gyro and kebab! This is not just a coincidence! Lol Now onto the food, I ordered the lamb and beef plate with a side onion salad. I have provided the menu in the pictures. Also the meals are located there too. The meal came out hot off the grill in no time at all, maybe 5 minutes. I also had an appetizer of wrapped grape leaves rolled in rice and spices. The flavors melted perfectly together in my mouth. It was a moment when you just want to chew slowly and savor the pickled leaves flavorings on the rice. The Greek salad was so fresh I looked around the store trying to find the gardener! The salad vegetables were crisp and seasoned with blue cheese and sauce. Very refreshing! The lamb and beef platter also came with rice cooked to perfection. The lamb and beef took. me back to Istanbul and Antalya, Turkey from past visits. So if your looking for good authentic Turkish cuisine, look no further than Istanbul Gyro and Kebab. Come for the food, stay because of the friendliness and great attitude of the staff!

Might have just been a bad day for them, but everything was a little bit off. Hummus was a little too salty, pita a little bit undercooked, either the meat or yogurt sauce in my gyro had a bad aftertaste. It was just enough to make the experience unpleasant. The staff was really nice, though, so points there.

Yesterday I decided to take a chance with trying a lamb and beef gyro sandwich from Istanbul Gyro & Kebab (in Norfolk Virginia near the Macarthur Center mall area). The employee I interacted with for the order had a pleasant personality and I received my food quicker than expected (and fortunately it also tasted good). I also like that I obtained this gyro at a reasonable price for what I received in exchange.

I saw many reviews from people who I think they never had a good gyro , or a tasty one I was passing by and i had to stop somewhere to eat , and because I googled “food” I found the gyro place , and i like gyro as well I will give 1 star for the gyro and 1 star for having in the menu baklava and the italian desert “ tiramisu “ Both deserts came out from “freezer” not fridge . Wanted to eat , the man told me i have to wait couple of minutes or they will put it in the microwave to be ready to eat . Baklava : 2 small bites for $5 , that’s insane Tiramisu : coming from the freezer ? The italians would kill them selves for such a “crime”

I was not impressed at all with the food, my meal the chicken looked no better that "Birdseye "char grilled chicken, the Rice mix was just a large portion of food that was very sloppy, my friends meal soaked in fat, sizzler grill the chop was all burnt, did not enjoy our meals at all and will not go again. The waitress service however was fine and friendly, apart from a young waitress who`s skirt was extremely short, thank full she did not bend over while i was there.

First time my family and I tried this restaurant. We had the ranch parmesan & hot wings, philly & jerk eggrolls, dion burger...all so very good. Friendly staff as well!

Booking was super easy, I had to ring to tell them I was running late, the staff were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The drinks, starter and mains were beyond expectations. All served with excellent service and presented beautifully.

First time visiting this place, but a great choice. This is a small & cozy place. Staff was very friendly and courteous, since the moment you walk in they will make you feel comfortable and at home. Hands down the best Gyro I’ve ever had!

I stopped in for a late lunch and was a bit skeptical by the location/building. There wasn't anyone there at 3pm (naturally, past lunch and pre-dinner). I ordered a gyro expecting the norm and was wow'd with every bite! I am a gyro and lamb lover and was shocked at the tastes and quality of what I got. It tasted as though the cook really put time into grilling the meat and giving it extra flavor. I was surprised at this hidden gem!
