Brilliant. Fresh food, well cooked, I had the green pesto cheese and tomato sandwich with fries, homemade coldslaw and salad and my partner had haddock in lemon crumb goujons and fries. The fish was divine, flaky, beautiful flavours and the service was fast and friendly. Highly recommend

Really nice stop off at the end of a tour of Lismore. Vegan options, amazing cakes.Slight negative - toilet seat hanging off and only one option so previous people had peed on the seat. Sure this will be a simple fix and then it would have been a 5 star review.

Having booked a last minute trip to Scotland we missed the chance to book a trip to the Isle of Mull, so instead opted for Lismore. We are glad we did, as this cafe is perfectly situated on the island and offers very good food at reasonable prices. I went for the soup of the day which was lovely for £5, followed by a blueberry crumble bake which tasted even better than it looked. They also offer some bigger meals which looked decent if you’re cycling around the island need something more substantial. Overall, we were very pleased with the trip to Lismore and the service at the cafe.

The cafe is situated beautifully with views over the rolling hills. The choice of food and cakes is great, as is the service and the friendliness of the staff. We had a lovely rest there, enjoyed the freshest cakes and discovered the history of Lismore in the adjacent museum. There is also a lovely little shop. Definitely worth a visit.

We visited Lismore for a 4 day break with our grandchildren and daughter The cafe was their fav place to go and we did every day for lunch.Variety is excellent and quality of food fir the reasonable cost is amazing. It is a lovely modern clean building with a huge terrace outside which we were lucky to enjoy. The weather was kind to us.The staff are so friendly Babs and in particular Jenny were very good with the wee boys.Jenny lived nearby us on a farm and brought a lamb down for the boys to feed then they fed her horses. Highlights of their holiday for wee boys 4 and 8 yrs.An excellent hub on the Island and the gift shop sells the amazing chutneys and drizzle oils that they serve in cafe. So I stocked up.Well worth a visit The museum also was a hub of information to let us understand what we could visit We all enjoyed the history and the house next to the museum set up as folk lived. We shall return with our other grandchildren

We took a short ferry ride to Lismore from Port Appin. Cycled a blustery and pleasant 3.5 miles to the cafe. Had a warm welcome despite the current pandemic, ate a tasty and carefully prepared lunch which was rounded of with the most delicious ice-cream experienced since a trip to Le Pouliguen many years ago. Our only regret was not being able to safely stow away a piece from one of the marvellous cakes on display, for our return journey. Thoroughly recommended.

I arrived on the island, and was feeling it was a little lacking compared to the Glencoe area I had travelled from. I had cycled the 3 miles from the ferry and was thinking about returning on the next ferry, However visiting the café turned my visit round. We had gone purely for coffee, but with lovely cakes on display we were easily persuaded and each had a gigantic slice of cake, and it really was as good as it looked. We were wishing we had not brought a packed lunch as the menu looked very appetising. The staff were very friendly and I enjoying chatting to them and hearing more about the place. Having had such a great experience we ventured further south on the island which turned out even better, with lovely views over the western isles. We ended up spending 5 hours on the island. My earlier view of the island was certainly not bad, but after a visit to this café I felt completely lifted, and my whole memory of my visit is a good one.

A trip to the Isle of Lismore on a sunny Wednesday in August brought us to the Isle of Lismore Cafe by bike. The specials were Langoustine and we just couldn’t resist. While the Hebridean Burger with Haggis was off the menu the cheeseburger I had instead was delicious. But - back to the Langoustine - they were cooked perfectly and very generous portions - we were lucky to get them as they had gone through 200 in the last 24 hours. The resident seafood judge in the family thought they were excellent. The Service was superb and we were well looked after by the team who made us all feel welcome and let us make ourselves at home before the cycle back. Magnificent views - I really recommend a visit to Lismore just to experience the cafe if nothing else!

There's fantastic home made ice-cream and sorbet too. Been a few times on our holiday - there is always at least one vegan cake (I've sampled two - a raspberry sponge and a coffee cake), as well as victoria sponge, scones, brownies, bakewell slices etc. All the classics. Absolute must visit if you've been working up an appetite walking or cycling around the island. Also excellent coffee (plant milk option for vegans)The cafe also serves really good hot food - though more limited choice if you're a vegan (however the chips are excellent, always a promising sign!).Although the cafe usually shuts at 4pm, during peak season it's open till 9pm on Monday and Wednesdays and seems to be trialling a Friday night special most weeks - also a 9pm finish, with a focus on gourmet burgers, fish and chips or curry, depending on the Friday.

It was a hot sunny (and midge-free) day so we were able to sit outside. There's a really good choice of soup and sandwiches, paninis etc, for such a remote location and the modern building, with its little shop selling craft items, and exhibition space telling the story of the island is very stylish. We stay for a week on the island most years and like to go and hook up to the Wifi and have a coffee or more several times. Kiki and the staff are friendly and the menu, while not extensive is adequate for most tastes. The cakes are, however, far too tempting! We often travel on a CalMac Ferries rover ticket which I would thoroughly recommend but we have never been able to visit Lismore because the previous ferry could not accommodate our campervan. This time we travelled on a Saturday afternoon in August with the intention of eating out on the island, camping there and buying local supplies. We found nowhere to camp on the island, the shop was shut and the only place open was the café and museum. On entering the café at around 16.00hrs we were told by a foreign sounding waitress that we could not be served as they were too busy as they had to set out the tables for a function later that evening. The toilets had the cleaners bucket outside them even though there were still a few visitors in the museum. However, looking at the prices on the menu, we had a lucky escape. The museum was of moderate interest if you were passionate about Gaelic, which we are not, but otherwise held very little attraction, although did have several donations boxes.Having failed to eat, drink or camp, we returned to the ferry port early having spent nothing on the island, except the obligatory donation to the museum. Even then we felt cheated as the other exhibits were locked up.On our return to the ferry port to catch an early ferry back to the mainland we found that the ferry port is the meeting place for the local youths, who having nothing else to do spend their time swilling lager and shouting profanities to each other. In summary, having been to almost every inhabited island in Scotland, I would advise visitors to go to any of the other islands which have all made us welcome.

Having visited the café at Lismore a few times before and thoroughly enjoyed it, we walked with friends for lunch. We were shocked at the increase in prices. There was no soup or scones left (scone with raspberry jam and cream £4.50), so we opted for a cheese and pickle sandwich which came with 3 home made crisps, a slice of tomato, wee bit of diced pepper and some chopped lettuce. It was small & tasty, but at £6.95 a bit hard to swallow. This was finished with a cup of Tea at £2.25. Making a grand total of £9.20 for a cup of tea and a cheese sandwich. The museum is lovely and Lismore is magical, but I would recommend you take a packed lunch if your on a budget!

After a walk from anchorage it was a welcome sight and coffee and scones lived up to expectations. I've never had strawberry scones before, they were delicious ! Would recommend.

Although there was not a huge menu, everyone was more than satisfied with the choice, quality, prices and service. The attached shop and museum were very interesting. Great wee place after a lovely walk on this beautiful island. Those who criticise places like this could not understand the difficulties of catering in somewhat remote locations. We loved the cafe and we loved the island and the people.

Great walk led by Bob ending up here with soup and scone exceeded my expectations. Even sunshine laid on, a pleasant little museum and such friendly people. A very happy day - just wish we had got earlier ferry.

We had a stop here during a cycle of the beautiful island, yes it's expensive but you will not be disappointed by the raspberry scone, unbelievably good, lovely staff too. If you have come from Appin go past the museum there a shop up the road and get a drink there but don't miss out on the scone!

We stopped here on our bike tour of the island. Great museum, run by knowledgeable and friendly staff. The cafe was named by welcoming staff and I was too distractedby the immensity of the scones to consider the price but I wish I had. £3.95 for an amazing Berry scone. It was fab but pricing is a bit rich. I wouldn't mind if the money goes to the museum but it is a franchise. The museum gets rent not the cafe profits. Lovely location, but pricing needed to be brought to sensible levels.

We enjoyed our visit to Lismore and our trip to the cafe and heritage centre was generally positive - with pleasant food, service and surroundings. However, the lack of any accessible menu or indication of prices was a definite negative. In hindsight, we should have asked for a clear indication of prices but we were hungry and in holiday mode so overlooked this. The bill was, you've guessed it, somewhat excessive in our opinion. Whilst we would recommend a visit there, we would certainly advise that you check prices before ordering and request a menu. If there is still a lack of menus and prices, then perhaps ask why. Transparency of prices and choices should really be a standard feature of such cafes and this would certainly be recommended as an area of improvement here.

Like many, I took the ferry from Port Appin and walked to this cafe. Their leaflet suggested good food and a variety of options promising to cater for vegetarians, vegans and coeliacs (gluten free). I don't know what happened but according to the women working "Kiki" wasn't there that day. There's a big sign at the counter stating that it's table service. Nobody got served and had to go to the counter. The menu was minimal and I asked if there was anything gluten free to which the reply was no. I asked if the soup was GF to which the response was "Erm, I think so, I don't know, it's homemade but I don't know what she uses". There was barely any veggie food available and 2 items of the limited menu were unavailable. My partner had an "open sandwich" of which the choice was cheese or crayfish with the menu stating that there were more sandwich options on the blackboard. There weren't. His food was a plate of salad with grated cheese and two very small slices of bread. He had to ask for butter which was delivered straight out of the fridge. Our drinks arrived after our food. It seemed that although there were 2 staff, only one of them was capable of working. The older lady was friendly but frankly, pretty useless. It seemed like she was maybe just helping out a friend and had no idea how things worked. This was so disappointing. With having coeliac disease I usually take food with me in case I can't eat and I don't expect to be catered for but with such promise of options I left feeling hungry.

We cycled! Having hired bikes from Port Appin before taking the foot ferry to Lismore. It was a trip back in time - beautiful quiet roads, 360 degree views and two sea eagles! We cycled (nearly) to the end of the island and stopped at the café in both directions. Really enjoyed the amazing freshly made raspberry scones - best we had on our holiday. The outside deck is a great spot to relax and chat to fellow explorers. Not cheap but good quality. Museum a treat - very well done and lovely volunteers.

We came to Lismore specifically to see the museum, and the restaurant was highly recommended. I had a sweet potato soup that was divine. Several of the family chose burgers, and were not disappointed by the size or quality. Two others took the daily special, which was also lovely. It seemed a busy day, but the servers worked as quickly as possible and the wait was comfortable in the lovely dining room. Well worth the scenic walk from the ferry.

We visited for lunch during a day walking on Lismore. The menu seemed to offer limited choice. And the friend we were with (from Oban) said it had changed since he was last there and gone more "upmarket"I had a cray fish open sandwich. It was good but not huge and at around £9.00 expensive. The quality of food, the service and the location are good but choice is limited and expensive. That said my wife raved about the raspberry scone she had.

We took the passenger ferry from Port Appin, together with bicycles, then cycled the length of Lismore, stopping at the cafe in both directions. First visit: tea/coffee and cake - excellent. Later in the day, we had proper lunches... lasagne and (I think) a crayfish or crab open sandwich. Both excellent. We also chatted to others there, who all raved about the scones. The museum next door is well worth visiting - very interesting history etc of the island, beautifully put together. Very helpful staff as well.If you stay at the Pierhouse hotel in Port Appin, Lismore makes a fantastic day trip, as the ferry costs very little and departs from the hotel.

After reading several reviews about this establishment my husband & I planned a special trip just to sample the " fantastic " food. We walked from The Port Appin ferry, which we have done before & it's a wonderful walk full of many interesting things along the way. We were greeted on our arrival at the nicely decorated café by an extremely pleasant foreign waitress. My husband & I both chose scampi & a coffee, our order was served quickly. The coffee was good, the scampi was well presented but very ordinary, it was frozen scampi along with frozen chips! Thus was a meal we could have purchased in any run of the mill café anywhere else! However, we had read about the amazing scones so we decided to indulge ourselves, what a massive disappointment they were! They were very dry & the cream tasted as if it had some sort if sugar added to it ( possibly icing ), my opinion is that anyone who thinks they are good have obviously never eaten good scones. Maybe people are impressed by the size of them ( enormous ) however in this case my reaction would be to say " quality not quantity ".Although the café was decorated nicely with clean lines, it had a very unfriendly feel about the place. The lady cook seemed to favour the locals, she came out of the kitchen twice when we were there, both times to ask her local patrons if everything was ok, she didn't once ask a visitor! The meal cost us £30.80, which we thought was extremely overpriced for the quality of food we received. Incidentally we also left a tip for the polite waitress! .All in all a very disappointing meal in an atmosphere less establishment, we would never eat there again or recommend it to friends. We will be taking a picnic on our future visits to this beautiful island.

we took a day trip to Lismore, rode the ferry to the north end then hiked three miles to the cafe and back. What a great hike, and what a great reward! The cafe has lovely soups and sandwiches, I had the Brie and chutney sandwich which was delish. Nice patio with a view over the island. Also in the building is the Lismore Historical Society which has a small museum with lovely and interesting displays. Worth the trip!

Went to this lovely island while staying in Oban for a few days. Walked the four miles to the cafe and had a lovely coffee and homemade scone (still warm). The staff were lovely and very accommodating and even fed the dog who was sitting outside with some scraps of meat. There is a small gift shop attached to the cafe selling locally made tablet mugs and various other gifts.

Well got to Lismore later than planned after a night in Oban ( nuff said) , had a wander on this lovely island and just made it to cafe before closing , had a coffee and chat well after closing for evening with new owners " were not going to throw you out are we " ..... can't say how much their hospitality and friendly welcome rounded off my day ( turned out we have local connections where I live) , i would strongly commend a visit to both the island with its many ruins and to the cafe , I walked back to ferry in semi darkness with a smile on my face all the way ..... will be back .... thanks folks and all the best ..... burns supper should be a scream :-) ..... My fiancé and I tool a day trip here while on holiday in Oban, and after a look and read around the museum we sat outside in the sunshine with dairy and egg free locally produced sorbet, Tea Pigs ethical tea, and the most amazing snack of vegetarian haggis pattie & potato scone on a wholemeal roll. Such an easy cafe menu addition, but such a rarity, and as veggie haggis and potato scones are two of my favourite foods, this was such a delight for me. It's amazing how somewhere so remote can offer such a varied menu for meat eaters and people on both gluten free and vegan diets, whereas so many other places have so much panic and trouble! Worth taking a day away from Oban for a wander around this area, learn about the Isle's heritage, and enjoy a lovely lunch.

I was amazed to find that the cafe here catered for all manner of dietry requirements on their menu, including gluten-free for coeliacs like myself. I had a burger in a gluten free roll as I don't often get the chance elsewhere, followed by coffee with a gluten free cookie! Definitely worth a visit!
