Islanders Restaurant in Castle Point

As usual the food was plentiful and well cooked.The staff friendly and efficient. Prices have risen recently but no more than you would expect with inflation as it is today. Recently refurbished, the seating is comfortable. and stylish. Hygiene is excellent and the location very central. All in all the best **Chippy* in town

We had fish and chips delivered and it was excellent. We were sceptical as didn't want soggy fish and chips but it was as delicious as going yourself. We ordered through the restaurant not just eat. We opted for no vinegar or salt to be put on it, adding it at home to give it a fighting chance. No complaints, absolutely crispy and delicious

come in around an hour after they opened and got served, wasn’t really any interaction with me they was talking to another person majority of the time apart from when i had to pay, then had to wait 15-20 minutes for a small chips and saveloy not to mention it was more or less empty in there apart from me and another women, then when it was wrapped up she dropped my saveloy onto the side infront of the till and proceeded to serve me that, as i suffer with anxiety wasn’t very confident to say anything but ended up having to throw the saveloy as i am very conscious over my health, not good at all!

My Son and partner came for Easter, we were recommended to try there meals. after a day out on Good Friday we had already booked to be sure of getting a seat as always busy. We arrived at 5pm and were welcomed with a smiling waitress who show us to our table. We ordered our drinks which were swiftly brought to our table. Looking at the menu at the mouth-watering meals, my son chose good old fish and chips Lou his partner ordered half chicken and chips, i ordered grilled plaice and chips with mushy peas. All meals were freshly cooked and brought to our table by the happy smiling waitress. The food was excellently presented and nothing was to much trouble. We all enjoyed our meals that were freshly cooked and very tasty. Thank you for your team effort. Will return soon

I just had a lovely lunch, served by lovely staff, it appears the restaurant is now back in safe hands, spotlessly clean, fresh fish, piping hot chips and lovely tea. Now they are back we will be back regular, we need to have a chippy of this standard on the Island.

The good news is that the Islander Fish Restaurant has re-opened under the original ownership for which we are very happy indeed. The interior decor and furnishings have all been upgraded and the quality of the food is back to the old high standards that we all expect. Happy days!!

I have just arrived home after having an excellent lunch at the newly refurbished Islander Fish Restaurant on Furtherwick Rd Canvey Island. We were a party of 4 and we were highly impressed with the new fit-out and the quality of the food. I wish Louis and the staff every success going forward.

We are so pleased to see the Islander back. The restaurant has been refurbished to a very high standard and the fish and chips are back to their former glory. Well done to Luis Passeira and his team.

Visited here for the first time today after seeing the high ratings on Google. I was shocked to see some recent bad reviews on here as we found the food to be cooked brilliantly!. We ordered a large cod which was enough for two people given the thickness and it wasn't overly greasy. Chips were also golden crisp. Chippies are not cheap anymore so it's comforting to at least find one that's worth the money! (Coming from Watford there are plenty of overpriced hell holes and this is not one of them) Can't recommend enough and would go back again. Staff were also friendly and had a brief chat with us whilst waiting.

Have visited the islanders for many years. Today we visited and couldn't believe the change. It was immediately noticeable that things were different. Staff were mucky looking and sloppy service. Everywhere needed a good clean and smelt of dirty fat as we walked in. Chips were horrible!! Will not be returning and would not recommend.

It appears the Islanders has changed hands, gone are the friendly staff crisply presented in clean uniform. Most of the menu board looks empty and the place just does not look clean. The food used to look mouthwatering on entering, it is not the same. Through my food away!

Been here a few times never had no complaints,good portions,not today very small,you have to eat your food wearing your coat because there is no heating on in this restaurant,food gets cold quickly

Today I visited the islanders fish bar. I experienced extremally poor customer service in which made me very upset. I asked the man serving if I could sit down with my food and he said yes. When I sat down the lady working in the restaurant was asking me to pay more because I was sat down even though the man serving allowed me to sit. I then left the restaurant with my meal.

when I visited the islanders fish bar I received food which was very cold, to cold I could not eat it. when I had first opened my spiced potato's box I had found a light brown hair laying on the food. I would not call the spiced potato's, spiced in any shape or form they were just potato's which I could of gotten at the co op and cooked my self.

This has in my opinion got to be the best Chippy on Canvey Island. Food is Always hot and in many instances cooked fresh when you place your order. Throughout the Pandemic they have still provided a service unlike some other Chippies on the Island....

The best fish n chips I’ve had for a long while , it was piping hot the fish had a lovely Flavour thick and meaty . Chips were great no bits and pieces . Delicious. Would recommend. Thanks really enjoyed It .

The Islanders Fish and Chip restaurant does more than fish and chips including fresh fresh, pies salads and has a licence for wines and spirits if wanted. The dishes are out of this world, so well cooked and good proportions. Friday nights are busy but...

Just moved to Canvey, thought we try this restaurant. Staff are friendly and polite. We had to try the cod and chips. Food was lovely and a nice size portion. Will definitely return.

We sat in for Cod (skinned for us) and Chips after a trip to Hadleigh Country Park, as a connoisseur on Fish & Chips - 8.5/10 which very few places have been able to achieve! Well done.

This restaurant really is "Simply the Best" for fish & chips the Fish is always fresh and chips are like they should be cooked to perfection they offer quite a varied menu and fish can be cooked to your liking if you prefer it grilled...

Always good food with friendly service and very reasonable prices. Restauraunt area for those that want to eat in, with a variety of other dishes to choose from.

We decided to revisit Canvery Island for the day, After parking up elm street car park.We ventured into Futherwick Road and found the Islanders Restaurant and Decided to have our lunch there,they had small cod and chips on offer at £6.95. So we decided to order this with mushy peas and bread and butter (what a huge potion of mushy peas we would have been better just ordering one) washed down with two creamy hot chocolate. absolutely delicious. the do other things on there menu. there is a disabled loo and flatish access ( one small lip on the front step)

I had the grilled fish which was lovely with the herb butter. Great place to get take away fish and chips or a great sit down meal. Very friendly service.

My first visit to this great little restaurant, to call it a Fish and Chip shop would do it a great disservice, a lovely place for a reasonable priced Fish Supper. The staff are also excellent, it is spotlessly clean and the food is freshly cooked and exceptional. Big ‘Well Done’ Islanders.

For a change we thought we would go out for fish and chips. So glad we did ! Excellent choice of food available not just fish but burgers, pies and a couple of English dishes! Lovely waitress took our order , food to cooked order , ample portions. Best fish I have had for ages all washed down with an excellent bottle of Portuguese white wine! Would happily recommend to anyone who will listen and will return

Myself and two others went for lunch yesterday . We all had Skate and Chips , you had a choice of fried or grilled . both were cooked to perfection , very meaty lots of fish and very fresh , we all said best fish and we have had in ages . served with fresh side salad . Reasonable prices . the whole menu looked excellent , pies chicken and lots of other food to choose from . The waitress that served us Carol was so attentive she couldn't do enough for us as well as all the other customers . made you feel really welcome . Cannot wait to go back with family , will definitely be visiting again soon .

Canvey is famous for its cod and I must say the Islanders is putting everyone else to shame. I’ve not lived on canvey for a long time and it’s certainly wiped the floor with my local. Totally worth the drive. Cod and chips were amazing!!

First time here, had large Cod and chips smashing, all freshly done they do loads of other fish too! 5* service I will come again. The staff were fully professional.

We went here for a family lunch on a Saturday. Lovely freshly cooked food and very nice to have a "proper" coffee. I can recommend the grilled fish as a tasty alternative to battered.

Friendly local licensed fish restaurant with plenty of alternative foods to the normal fry ups. Well worth a visit for a good quality meal, everything cooked to order. Good service.

Went with my husband and Son, all agreed possibly best fish and chips we have had. My husband and son had the medium cod and chips (huge!) which was beautifully cooked and fresh. I had the rotisserie chicken, chips and peas... Loved it. It's licensed so we had glass of wine and a Magners, served lovely and chilled. Service was lovely, polite and quick. The place was really busy on a Tuesday eve, will definitely be back.

You would be hard pressed to better the food served up by Fil, Bruno & family. Looking forward to our next meal at the best fish & chip restaurant we've been to in many a year.

Latest visit for my wife's birthday as a pre curser to a restaurant meal with the family the day after. A very nice friendly establishment with wholesome food. Granddaughter loved her meal. Very good servings and very affordable.

On Friday 24th March we made a late decision to visit relatives in Canvey Island and opted to have lunch out rather than inconvenience the family. We are so glad we made that decision and found, via Google, The Islanders Restaurant. We had the best Rock Salmon (Huss) & Chips we have had in a very long time, freshly cooked with a light batter on the fish and nice chunky but crisp chips none of which were greasy. The staff were very friendly and catered for our every need and the tea we ordered was a proper mug of tea with a kick none of this luke warm, weak stuff. We would thoroughly recommend this restaurant to anyone who fancies decent fish & chips

Islanders is by far the best Chippy on the Island and offers a Reataurant Area where you can sit and eat or it offers the normal take away Facility. The food is always well cooked and piping hot.Portions are very generous and prices are around £6.50 for Cod & Chips with some other varieties of Fish being slightly more expensive. I use this establishment regularly for my Wife who is disabled and the staff are very friendly and polite. Gets very busy at weekends which is not surprising as people pop in to eat whilst out shopping. Really good food and worth every penny.

This is a chip shop that adds a premium on to site in and eat, kids meals are good value and size. Portions sizes are good, but don't expect to spend less than £30 for a family of 4.

have not eaten in this restaurant for years, but usually once a fortnight we do get a take-away. Staff always polite, and food is always top class. Usually phone up and place my order for a certain time, and it always ready when i go to pick it up, very good service

Another very good meal..visited with family..I had Calamari as a starter was really good..was disappointed they had run out of pork belly ribs..but had grilled plaice.which was excellent..others had scampi salad and the fish SPECIAL 3 mini fillets of Cod with chips.bread and butter and a cup of tea..kids had chicken wraps..all was EXCELLENT..service good and friendly..WILL RETURN.

I first went here Sept 2012 and sat in. I went here while waiting to see my dream house! I loved the food I then went on to buy my dream house! Ive been here at least once a month since then! Staff lovely but you could make a stronger cup of tea. But that's just me being fussy!See you soon.

Popped in our way home last week for 2 cods to takeaway, was amazed when I got home to see the size of the cods (massive) all cooked lovely and fresh! Wouldn't go anywhere else for my fish and chips!

The fish was the best cod I had tasted the batter was crispy and not greasy the fish was thick and fleshy and the chips were delicious fresh and hot

Have eaten lunch here on a Friday quite a few times over the last few weeks and have always thoroughly enjoyed it. Food is tasty, staff are extremely friendly and the food is excellent value for money.

We have been using this fish bar/restaurant for some years and believe the whole experience whether takeaway or seated in the dining area to be excellent. This is a family run operation who are welcoming, friendly, fun and always ready to please with freshly cooked food be it fish or other meals on their menu.The atmosphere when dining in is really warm even when the shop is very busy with takeaway.At times the portions are so generous we have to ask for less, yes that is the truth.Would not be reluctant to recommend a visit to this establishment.

Once again visited Islanders with family.I had ribs with chips and coleslaw,it was great,others had fish fillet special,scampi with salad,kiddies fish and chips,pasta.Lovely ice cold cider to wash it down.STRONGLY RECCOMENDED.

Have been here a few times before to eat in and take away , have always been satisfied but last night my fish was very poor . After telling the waitress and her having a word with the chef , not a thing was done, not even a sorry from from him. Won't be going back.

the only fish and chip shop that I know of that gives you malt vinegar, which I don't like. I prefer non brewed which most chip shops give you, Chips just didn't taste right. won't go back again unless they change their vinegar.

Had a family meal here yesterday, and was pleasantly surprised at the various different meals on the menu as I thought it was just going to be a standard fish and chip shop. Between the four of us, we had the chicken curry, spaghetti, chicken and cod dish. All food was fresh and tasty. The service was particularly excellent from our waitress.

If you ever feeling hungry and in doubt where to go the Islanders fish restaurant is the place. Staff is very friendly and the food is out of this world. So if you ever on the island, this restaurant is the one you don't wana miss out on.

I've been to this restaurant a number of times and always had excellent food and great service. There is a great choice of fish which I have had fried and grilled but although primarily known for fish and chips there is other food to choose from and its always worth checking out the specials board. I would definitely recommend.

bought two cod and chips a few days ago and the fish tasted and looked like some form of cod substitute....one of the pieces of cod was very wet inside, possible cooked from frozen....the chips were good and a large portion...this used to be my number one fish and chip shop, got to look elsewhere now, would not go back there.....the fish was not right, made me and my wife feel queasy all evening....very disappointed.....recently went to Cornwall and had some of the best fish and chips ever, they have not forgotten the craft of good fish and chips

huge portion of chicken and chips and my son had sausage and chips. Fast and friendly service and excellent food. Great value and lovely and clean. Can't ask for more than that
