Ishtar in City of London, Westminster

Delicious food. Tried seven different dishes, each perfectly cooked and well presented. Wine list was short and rather expensive. Staff were lovely and very welcoming.

Really cozy place with delicious food and super service

Great aroma as soon as you walk into the restaurant. Food was above expectations, well presented and unlike most places the portions were more than adequate per person. The lamb chops in particular were succulent and large. The gentleman we were server by, Alim was incredibly friendly, attentative and quick to answer any questions we had. I would definitely come again!

The food is very good and the servings are big. The staff was very kind and welcoming.

We had a wonderful dining experience. We loved the grilled dishes and Kunefe. Alim our server took good care of us. Thank you so much. We'll be back.

Food is tasty but service is so slow and have to constantly chase the server . Beware of service charge added to the bill even though service is mediocre.

Excellent food, from the variety of the menu to the authentic taste! Lovely service, honestly such a pleasant experience. Loved the hospitality at the entrance, you get a cute box of Turkish delight! we were a big group (loud and chaotic as well) but the waiters were so patient and kind. They explained nicely when we asked about items on the menu and also gave some good recommendations. Food came in a timely manner. They took excellent pictures when we requested one. The venue is spacious with lots of nice natural light. Price is reasonable compared to the quality and portions you receive. I would highly recommend!

What a wonderful evening! Very courteous service, very nice atmosphere and excellent food. Bread, olives and a wonderful dip were served beforehand, which made us want more. When I expressed my wishes, I was given suggestions that were absolutely right. I had green dumplings with eggplant filling in a yoghurt mint sauce, which were simply heavenly followed by a mixed grill plate with roasted vegetables. Everything cooked to perfection. I have rarely felt so comfortable at dinner.

We left with our teenagers today, to introduce them to this restaurant that we discovered in 2019, during a trip without children. Good news, the restaurant hasn't changed and their dishes are still just as good. According to our splitters the meat was excellent and this was already the case in 2019. So go there with your eyes closed, we had a good time there, the place is clean, the staff smiling and welcoming. The cuisine is excellent. This will become a must for our next visits to London. Regarding prices, like everywhere in London, everything is very expensive. We paid £83 for 4.

Excellent meal from starter to dessert. Special mention for the prawns! You don't leave hungry, I recommend.

The reception was very excellent, the food was delicious, the restaurant was elegant, and the waiter was nice, but there was disturbance from some guests of some nationalities. They were annoying. If we had been spared from them, we would have been fine.

A nice local restaurant - nice environment with delicious skewers of meat - chicken, lamb etc. They seem to have updated the menu recently and so things like the shared meze as a starter have gone quite small and much more expensive. The baklava is great. It’s a popular local place and busy every day with a mix of business - work staff /co-workers. Sister restaurant just up the road mielo.

My mum cannot use the stairs so the amazing staff arranged to take her through exit door - amazing restaurant fantastic food great entertainment .. shout out to Mr Rashed who looked after us.. the manager Mr Alkan is out of this world he made our experience 5 star!!!

Booked here because of the live music, and belly dancing, thought it would be a proper Turkish culture night, but it wasn't at all. Horrible English music, felt like what a night out in Spain, catering for Brits would be like. Food was way overpriced, considering mine was tasteless. Saying that, half dishes on the table were good, half bad ... The lamb shank was tasteless and just unenjoyable to be honest, the sea bass wasn't great. However the lamb shish and salmon were actually very nice, but the salmon is tiny and doesn't come with anything accept a couple mushrooms I think, terrible. The venue downstairs is very nice, especially love the booths. So if the food and entertainment were better, it could be great. Although I definitely won't be returning.

In the heart of London , near to Baker Street in a beautiful environment restaurant Ishtar is one of the places which I would recommend to everyone. Delicious turkish food , nice and tasty cocktails. Cosy restaurant with friendly staff , wonderful service and the food was over my expectations. Vlad was our server , a professional young man with a warm smile , thank you my dear . This restaurant is an office favourite. The food is always spot on and the service is great! The lamb dishes are amazing!

I really liked the service and ambiance. Me and my friend dine in during the Christmas time and specially chose this restaurant for the live music and entertainment. Unfortunately, there was a private event going on so couldn’t enjoy to that level what we expected. Neither it was informed on instagram where I double checked if it was happening. Food was delicious but overpriced, in my opinion.

The staff here are not just professional but also polite and efficient – they made sure we felt like VIPs. The meze platter during our dinner with friends was a communal joy, and the silk route cocktail was a must-try! Sure, the service charge was a bit steep, but the warm atmosphere, generous portions, and bang-on delicious baklava dessert made it all worthwhile. I’ve been to Ishtar a few times and had a great experiences. However, the last one was disappointing as I made a family dinner booking on the 29th of December because Ishtar has an entertainment during the dinner. No one informed us the entertainment had cancelled until we arrived the venue. It could’ve easily communicated and informed before hand as they called me to confirm the reservation. The manager took us to their sister restaurant called Melio which had a live music but it was quite overpriced.

Nice setting, the food was good - got the special lamb with apricot and pears. Meat was juicy and food was filling. Don’t know if it was worth the price but still a good meal. Mocktails weren’t that nice. Overall 7/10

Multiple returning guests to Ishtar, the food is undoubtedly fantastic, with a very good wine selection, however as life continues to demonstrate once the human factor is bought in things can decline. My husband and I met with friends recently, we were seated at 14.00. Throughout the meal we constantly reassured that there was no pressure to vacate the table. 4 hours later the restaurant was still not 50% full and 5 minutes before the “so called” manager appeared to inform us that the table was now required by other guests (again 5 minutes before). His attitude was extremely bullish and contradicted what colleague had earlier assured us that there was no pressure to vacate the table, so you can imagine our surprise. We paid the bill, minus the service charge due to his behaviour and promptly left. Once outside the “so called” manager took it upon himself to come out and provoke, he was aggressive, rude towards us for absolutely no reason, causing an embarrassing scene which was unjustified and completely unnecessary. One can only make an assumption he is uneducated. A friend recommended Ishtar to us, sadly we will not be returning based on one individual’s unprofessional behaviour.

Food was okay but staff can barely speak English and not accommodating. The wine came after the starters and had to ask 3 times before they offered us the lunch menu which they were very reluctant to give out (probably because it’s a lot cheaper than normal menu). I told them I don’t want to pay service charge and the waitress was very shocked and didn’t think my reasons for not paying the service charge where enough.

One of the best Turkish that I had in London. The food and the drinks are amazing, I tried all the meze, kebabs and lamb chop. Drinks wise I tried a cocktail named Istanbul.

We had iur Christmas party there and the downstairs is perfect for events. The food is delicious, I don't eat shrimps usually but these ones were really good plus the pistachio baklava with ice cream, a delight.

Quite an expensive place. Mint tea (hot water and a few fresh mint leaves)🍵 in a small cup and saucer was £4. I thought that was a rip off, didn't even get sugar. I was expecting a mug or a teapot.

The food was amazing. Everything was cooked to perfection. It's a bit on the pricey side, and the wine is extortionate! But it's in Marylebone so it's par for the course. The food was well worth the money, but the wine wasn't that great considering the cost.

Service was at different level. Thanks to Rashid (waiter) i had a beautiful time with my family. Worthy place to come back.

A lovely restaurant. We ate as a group of 9 and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. Food was flavourful and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend and I will be back for sure!

I came here to celebrate my 24th birthday. It was a group of 8 girls. We had the best night ever. It was like a huge dinner party. The service was top tier, from the moment we stepped into the restaurant till we left we were well taken care of. The food and drinks were so delicious. I got the mixed grill and garlic mushrooms- I enjoyed every bite. I had a taste of everyone’s food and I know the menu is of exquisite taste. The live musicians and belly dancer sealed the deal for us! Especially when she got us up all dancing, she was so great! Honestly I never celebrate my birthday, and I’m so glad I found Ishtar. This is a birthday for the books!

As an international student I was missing my native foods and was searching for a place which Serve kunafa , I've tried from many restaurants but it didn't meet my requirements... but I got the best kunafa from Ishtar, the proper authentic one.... highly recommending

The food was delicious and the atmosphere was relaxing and welcoming. My only concern is, that we ordered ONE tea pot which was FOUR pounds in the menu. We received the receipt saying TWO tea pots for TEN pounds both. The waiter apologized and refunded us the difference. I believe the tip should have been refunded to us too. I would recommend the restaurant for its food but always double check the prices before you pay.

Everything excellent. They’re so busy they find it hard to keep the door shut. My relatives who are in there mid 80’s and a bit poorly kept getting cold. However this is well offset by delicious grilled food and buzzy warm atmosphere with prompt kind service

Amazing experience at Ishtar. My sister and I went with a friend for our birthday. We had a very charming waiter called Rashid who went above and beyond to make sure we were happy! We even received a birthday surprise for dessert! Highly recommended!

The food is absolutely banging - so tasty and freshly prepared. Service very hit and miss as they kept moving our group of 10 despite a booking. Great vegetarian and vegan choices. Chargrilled meat dishes top notch. Setting lovely as I can't stand brightly lit restaurants.

Food is good, but the portion sizes are small relative to the price. Despite what the website says, there is no entertainment on Thursdays - this is misleading. We booked a table here for a friends 40th birthday thinking it would be fun with the live show and we turned up to find zero atmosphere and zero entertainment. It was a complete flop. Also, the champagne prices are wildly inflated and with not too much range: it's either £70 for Nyetimber or £250 for a bottle of Bollinger. There needs to be a middle of the range option. Overall, whilst the food was good, the experience was disappointing and left the party of 8 feeling flat.
