Third grade restaurant! First of all it is a bangladeshi restaurant run by bangladeshi people. Tasteless food, most arrogant, rude and pathetic staff! Please avoid going here and wasting your time.

Just oily deep fried food.. no taste.. far from Indian food.. felt like bland street to be honest.. think twice before going..

Lovely food for a large group of 11 with no booking. We were looking for a place to eat due to a booking mistake elsewhere and we walked in, asking for a table for 11. The staff sorted us out and we all had a variety of food, including poppadoms, chutneys, starters, mains and breads, along with numerous pints of their draft lager. Good food and service with no complaints at all. Thank you for accommodating us with no notice.

Disappointed. Got food order wrong (to be fair they did offer to redo it but was so hungry I made do). Unfortunately the food didn’t taste good so I left it anyway. Very bland. Staff were attentive. Shame as huge potential.

Just had a Chicken Biryani. And I will say to all the people looking to eat indian but are not Indian, Biryani here doesn't taste like an actual Biryani. It tastes like turmeric rice with some added veggies and meat.

Disappointing meal. Restaurant looks nice and has a relaxed atmosphere. Staff are attentive, though sometimes we felt rushed even though the restaurant was very quiet. Food was very bland. No spice or flavour.

We had a fantastic meal here, food was hot, fresh and delicious. Portion sizes were just right plenty of space between tables. If you're driving there leave plenty of time to park, the adjacent car park is small and street bay parking was pretty full. Thoroughly recommend this restaurant 👌 👏

Again why this restaurant has some bad reviews is beyond us. We’ve just had a lovely meal with lovely staff in a lovely clean restaurant. Great value and really tasty food. Well done guys keep it up 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Great food, best naga we've had. All 4 of us enjoyed a very good evening. Lovely staff, friendly, welcoming. Can't understand negative reviews on here. We were impressed with this place.

My first visit I absolutely enjoyed it. I had a lamb bhuna which was full of flavour, and the Lamb was very tender the only thing that I would mention that let it down was the cheese and garlic naan although it tasted very nice it almost seemed shoo bought. The overall the service the sack and the whole meal and experience was accident. I would definitely recommend this establishment 👌👍💙

Ambleside was reasonably busy straight after the new year. We were hoping to go for a Thai meal but one was shut and the other fully booked up. In the end we were happy with every aspect of this Indian restaurant. From starters to main course everything was good. Would recommend, and if back walking in the Lakes would come back here.

Food ok but nothing special. Hygiene shown as 5 star but cobwebs in abundance down the stairs to the toilet.

Disappointed. Nice and relaxed atmosphere and very good service, all staff friendly and clearly attentive. Unfortunately our food was very bland, lacked any real taste. The lamb and chicken in the dishes was cooked well, but the sauces had no taste, my Rogan Josh was mostly tomato based. We did inform the waiter but no response. We visit Ambleside often but won’t be booking back in. Can only give a two star as food standard is key to any restaurant. Clearly a popular restaurant, but not for us.

Food was absolutely delicious and the staff were very friendly and attentive!

We had not booked a table on the night of our visit on a Saturday night. They were very busy, but they went out of their way to accommodate us. Very good food and service were great.

Lovely place with excellent service

We come to the lakes every 3-4 months and every time we go to ishaas. The food and service are the best you can get anywhere. Nothing is too much trouble and we never have a bad meal.

Great food, just don't ask them to call you a taxi. Firm that they use ripped us off £22 for a £8 fare. Not the restaurants fault, but call your own taxi. Food and service is first class.

Has to be the best Indian take away in Ambleside!

Fast service although it was only 6pm and the restaurant was empty. The food was good. Bench seating not very comfortable.

Food is not that flavour full, very mild no gravy in matar paneer sabji( may be they developed taste for british people). Nan is also just ok ok — not soft. We had so much fun whole day but ended up not having good dinner. Thank you.

We were abit sceptical about going with the ratings but….. we can honestly say it was the BEST Indian food we had ever had!! And from walking through their door we were treated like King & Queen. Can’t praise the staff enough. Thanks guys

Absolutely no idea why there's negative reviews for ishaas, it made me almost have second thoughts about coming. So glad we went though, wonderful food, beautifully presented, fresh ingredients and great service. The king prawns are corkers! And I've never been anywhere that's able to give paneer such flavour too. Yum! Think of your regular high street Indian, but with better quality ingredients, more attention to detail, more specialities and just generally a cut above the norm.The place was packed - one of my favourite Indians in the UK.

My first time here so I had some trepidation. Totally needless as the experience was excellent! The service was first class, the food was well presented and the quality was superb. I definitely recommend this establishment. Good value for the outlay. Well done Ishaas Indian Eatery.

On holiday & was desperate for a good quality Indian meal. I am a cook & make my own curry’s from scratch, so I know a thing or 2 about flavour & spice. I should have looked at the worst reviews first. I agree with them absolutely no flavour or use of Indian spices. The chicken Jalfrezi I received was just chicken & a lot of chillis, very very bland. No hint of fragrant herbs & spices a total lack of the onions/peppers/tomatoes/garlic & ginger.

Ok food and long waiting hours even with booking and food itself took 20 min to arrive. More expensive then other restaurants

Service was good, Food taste was below standard, especially meat dishes Parata was frozen and reheated, but he said it is freshly made.

Ambience was good but service was pretty slow and food was bad specially tandoori chicken & chicken tikka masala, I recon avoiding it, smell and taste real bad. Overall not worth it!

You can see the calculation yourself. I didn't check the total when I paid but it seems they did good math and added an extra 50p for no reason. Please check your receipt the next time and tally the total before paying. Overall, food is ok. Service is fine. The quantity for the price is very less. For example I ordered a chilli garlic naan and was charged the price of cheese garlic naan, ie 65p extra for no reason. I would pass this place the next time when i want to have Indian food. There are plenty of others which are a better option

Really tasty Indian, staff were mega friendly, service was fast, like the atmosphere as well they have some pretty upbeat music, recommend the tandoori was really nice!

Waiters very attentive and jugs of iced tap water freely available. Will go again soon.

On a short stay in Ambleside and the Lake District with my two boys. After a long day trekking, we were craving for some curry. With the only indian food place around and the mixed reviews, we were a bit reluctant at first. Our concerns were put to rest moment we walked in, got seated with no booking or waiting around, decent atmosphere, decent food, great presentation and contrary to some reviews, great service!. Feel a little politeness, both ways, goes long way.. the tarka dhal and tikka biryani hit the spot.. the boys loved it!

My recent encounter with this Indian restaurant was an absolute disaster. I sampled the Lamp biriyani, Nan, Tandoori Roti, and Mix veg curry – each a letdown beyond imagination. The Lamp biriyani reeked of being reheated, the Nan and Tandoori Roti were identical disappointments, and the Mix veg curry resembled a watery vegetable mishmash. I strongly caution against squandering your money here. The owners must urgently salvage the reputation of Indian cuisine tarnished by such dismal offerings.

During my visit to the Lake District, I had the pleasure of dining at this charming restaurant with my wife. From the moment we stepped inside, we were captivated by the delightful ambiance it offered. The staff was incredibly warm, courteous, and truly professional, ensuring that every aspect of our experience was taken care of. But it was the food that truly left me in surprise. The flavors were simply outstanding, so much so that even now, the taste lingers on my tongue. The delicious dishes kept beckoning me back, and I found myself returning to this restaurant for dinner every evening throughout my stay in the Lake District. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant if you're looking to make your dinner truly memorable. Place is clean but food taste entirely different from indian . Quantity is not enough for one person.

Booked a table for two on Saturday. Table was about 5/10 mins delayed so we were sat down and given a complimentary pint of Cobra each. Really impressed with the food and the service here. There was a huge stag do taking up most of the restaurant but we were still well looked after and served well. 100% recommend and we will be back.

After a 9 hour mountain day, we thought "I really fancy beer and a curry", so we looked up Indian restaurants in Ambleside. The interior feels clean and modern and it was busy but they had a table for us with no reservation. We started with the best tasting pint of Cobra ever and ordered starters and mains. All the food was really good with distinct flavours and the waiter bringing the food was really good at his job. Will definitely be back when we are in Ambleside again.

Decent Vegeterian Indian Food in the middle of Grasmere and extremely courteous staff. Really liked the atmosphere and overall food was good.

Order the pappadums with accomplishments and then leave. The worst Indian I have ever had the misfortune to eat. So bland, no spices, no heat and the meat was very dry and hardly any sauce. Absolutely horrible.

Food of this resturant is good we ordered chicken tikka chilli and kadai chicken with keema and garlic naan it cost aroung 60 pounds

Stay away from this restaurant!! BAD horrible food…takeaway food smells ROTTEN…didn’t give us cutlery to eat with and in the end when we ate the food, we got stomach bug. Pathetic place

We had taken out food, totally terrible, we threw all the food, our money was wasted. Small portions. No one should even think of trying. Got a 20% discount on take away... inedible even if free. We were a family with 2kids.

The Food was absolutely abysmal, so bland absolutely no taste whatsoever, the pilou rice was just plain boiled rice, no taste to the chicken tikka nor the chicken bhuna. Naan is definitely not made in traditional tandoor and if it is, then it is very poorly made. Now if your south Asian background like me, don’t go there you will die with disgust over the food. Stay away Conclusion: Way to over priced, Food is RUBBISH. AVOID!!!!

Firstly, I would like to inform all customers that the entire team at Ishaas Indian Eatery | 3 Kelsick Road, Ambleside LA22 0BZ is very rude, akin to thugs and gang members. They completely lack manners when you request more time to place additional orders later. They insist that all orders be placed at once initially. This demonstrates extremely poor customer service. When we raised our concerns, they immediately asked us to leave without addressing our issues. It's a terrible experience. Furthermore, the food was served cold and had a poor taste. I cannot recommend this restaurant, which is owned by these thugs, and the team's manners are extremely disappointing. If anyone decides to visit this restaurant, I strongly advise taking backup or support to deal with these ten rude restaurant staff members.

Decent food and decent service. We had an issue with our food and they sorted it out quickly and efficiently. Toilets clean but still not very nice to use.

Worst experience, staffs are not welcoming. Not worth for the money. Ordered biriyani, given portion is half of a cheeseburger. Asked for a glass of tap water, refused to give us one. Given a bootle of water for 3.30£ which is them filled tap water from kitchen and sell it us for that money. Very rude behaviour.

Don't like saying bad things about places because they're can be a lot of factors, like new chefs, busy night etc. But the food we ordered for pick up, a couple of Bhunas, was sadly one of the worst Curry we've probably ever eaten, it was bland, lacked any flavor what so ever, no spice and it just tasted like warm food. Sounds harsh but I'm being as honest as I can. Other people claim the food is really good, so we could of just come on an off night. Other than that, the place looked nice and spacious and staff were friendly. Gets bonus points for having vegan options.

Well worth a visit, all the food we had was good will go again

We had takeaway - King Prawn Briyani with spinach, Butter Chicken, Garlic Mushroom, Paneer Tikka, Mixed Grill Tandoori. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND butter chicken - it was the worst butter chicken we have ever tasted. But other dishes were decent.

Large, airy, well lit restaurant with friendly attentive service. Wide range of dishes from old style classics to more unusual specials. Everything we have had there over numerous visits has been excellent. Take away service also available but not delivery.

Great service and great food. Was there for a short break and went here as it was a halal option. The service was great by everyone especially Naz, food was great aswell, good portions and pricing was good aswell. Would recommend to anyone who's local whether Ur looking for Asian cuisine or halal both are catered for. Thanks guys!!

I went to this restaurant with my family and friends when we visited Ambleside as it was the only one in that area. They let us enter there but we decided to start the lunch with ordering starters first. We ordered three starters but waiter insisted to give full order. We said we will order main course later but they didnt take the order and asked us to leave. Havent had this kind of experience in whole UK. So disgusting and bad service one can expect as they were not at all welcoming.

Really lovely attentive service without pressure, really great would definitely recommend to eat when you are in Ambleside. 10/10.

Some points to consider 1) I was served by two waiters, one of them was welcoming but other one was unaware about what’s there in the menu and was arrogant. 2) I had some extra food left from my order and I asked for it to be packed. They said it’s £5 extra for parcel, I was ok with that. But at the end they said it was a joke. What kind of joke was that? Some people may not have gone for parcel. And even after that the person was unapologetic and the behaviour was as if they don’t care. Overall, the food was good enough but because of the behaviour and attitude I would not recommend the restaurant. Regards !!

Incredible. The staff are alwatlys very welcoming and polite, but good humoured. The food is, frankly, unparalelled across the lakes so far as Indian food is concerned. It always tastes fresh and flavoursome. If your in the Lakes, do yourself a favour and book a table.

We last ate here in 2020 just before lockdown, and have been planning our return ever since, and wow we weren’t disappointed!! This is One of the best Indian restaurants we’ve ever eaten in. The staff are warm and welcoming, and the food is superb, if they had a branch in Bristol we would live there!! All the food was cooked to perfection and we are already looking forward to our return later in the year.

Amazing food and perfect service. Would highly recommend if you’re staying in the lovely town. The Chicken Bhuna was incredible.

Absolutely amazing place, the food is so flavourful & the staff are fantastic , the prices are decent and it’s spotless inside , I would definitely recommend Ishaas , by far the best restaurant in the village for take out or dine in if you like Indian cuisine
