Isabella's in Bridgend

I know i had the budget menu but no seasoning on the steak and potatoes that seemed to have been kept warm was not really that inspiring. service was excellent

We loved going to Isabellas for the chilli king prawns but when we went a few weeks ago we were so disappointed as the menu has changed the king prawns are in white wine sauce and not nearly as tasty.

Fab food and fab night really enjoyed

A relaxing Valentines evening with a romantic atmosphere and superb service and a stupendous meal. 5*

We’ve been wanting to try this restaurant for ages! So we picked it for our 20th wedding anniversary meal and it did not disappoint. Food was lovely! Particularly the prawn starter! Staff were lovely and checked on us regularly. The atmosphere was perfect too! We will be returning soon! 👍🏼

Great food at an amazing price, loved it.

Service very offhand, no welcome, we were just pointed to a table and two menus dropped off. Food average served in a lack lustre atmosphere. All the staff looked as if they couldn’t wait to close up and go home. We are regular visitors to Porthcawl but this would be our last visit to this restaurant.

Amazing restaurant, fabulous food, great customer service

Very disappointing. 17:30 booking and already low on menu items. Tough duck, tough lamb, slow service and excuses...."sometimes the meat is just like that" I'm sorry but you (as the owner) or your chef should understand the quality of your produce and be sure its of 'food award' standard before getting to table. A restaurant that has a nice atmosphere bit seems a but samey.

Lovely Portuguese Restaurant with Great Food. This was a Friday Lunchtime vist. It gets very busy at this time so best to book. As they dont usually accept walk ins after 1.30pm lunchtime on a Friday. We chose of the set 2 course menu which was £13.95. For starter had the Chicken Liver Pate. It was prepared just right and tasted lovely. For the main course I chose the Swordfish Steak . It was cooked just right and tasted delicious. We chose a bottle of the house white £18 which complimented the meal well. The service was good and friendly.

Steak was really grizzly. I spat out more than I ate. I did tell the waitress who said she'd tell the chef. Nobody came over. Shame as it was our anniversary.

First class restaurant. Great food attentive staff, authentic atmosphere. Try to book your place, it was busy even on a weekday afternoon. No surprise there a real jewel in Porthcawl.

Bit of a mixed bag of a review, service was excellent to be fair, but I was disappointed at the small portion of squid for my starter only 6 or 7 thin rings, also the peas and green beens with our main looked like they were cooked from frozen, mains otherwise were tasty, decor wasn't the best and could benefit from a fresh coat of paint

Just celebrated an exuberant 50th birthday, my grandchildren had been before and organized the celebration for their Mum. I was most impressed with the friendliness, and the service ,which was outstanding.The food was delicious, hot, and reasonably priced.. definitely will recommend and will be returning soon! What a gem of a find on a side street off the waterfront in Porthcawl. Amazing food at reasonable prices. Pretty busy for a Tuesday night in August too. We ate prunes wrapped in bacon. Baked Brie. Steak. Braised beef. Salmon. Apple pie cheesecake to die for. Lemon tart. White profiteroles. And great wine. Lovely and friendly staff.

Who would have thought it? An inconspicuous restaurant in 'back street' Porthcawl but a fantastic venue nonetheless. The food was great and the service was efficient and attentive without being intrusive. Well done Isabella's. It's a shame we live 100 miles from Porthcawl and can't visit regularly!

Isabella’s after all the hype of restaurant of the year in 2018 . I wonder had it been painted since then , atmosphere was that of a seance , better lighting and a sharper edge needed . Service is excellent on both visits staff were on the ball . Food was good , but let down by the prawn started @ £9.50 and two prawns on a plate… That joke was lost on me. Times have moved on and this place needs better lighting dark inside … Apart from the many many CCTV cameras that adorn the walls???!!! Manager shouting at waitresses while they were serving us , to go to another table … as on our first visit ….oh dear . Don’t believe the hype … 2nd visit 29/07/2022. As for Eton Mess dessert , a crushed meringue, some sickly strawberry syrup and a spoon on cream in a short glass . Was the finishing touch … shame as the lamb was pink … pity the 3 minuscule slices of pepper were adorned by one piece of onion. The picture speaks for itself …. Sadly we Won’t be trying a 3rd visit.

Great fresh food in the centre of Porthcawl. Reasonably priced food, good quality meat. I had the duck, which was perfectly cooked with nice fresh vegetables brought out on the side . The Welsh lamb kebab had a £2 supplement! Again good quality and generous portions. Staff were friendly. Ambience is ok, quite dark and dated, but very clean. The restaurant was full so I would advise booking

Excellent restaurant, excellent food, excellent service excellent value, what more can you add. We ate a couple of times during our stay, the menu is amazing for the price, and would throughly recommend. Wish they were local to where we live.

Took my grandaughter and her boyfriend on a Saturday eve we really had a lovely evening food was delicious and plentiful, the ambiance wonderful , the staff really attentive and very friendly could not do enough for us , will definitely return and highly recommend to others , thankyou for such a lovely evening x

A lovely local restaurant in the heart of Porthcawl, delicious food - beautifully cooked & served. Excellent, friendly staff. They have won a number of awards inc a recent national one - very well deserved. Would definitely return & recommend to visitors without hesitation.

Great value set menu - starter and main for around £16 - I had a lovely rump steak, which was worth more then £16 alone. Lovely staff, great atmosphere and location. Happy to recommend.

Isabella’s is the one place where our friends and visitors want to go when in town. The team has now won a Highly Commended at the Food Awards Wales 2023 - and thoroughly deserved it is too! The quality of their food is amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed the homemade curried parsnip and potato soup. So many choices on the two course menu will satisfy everyone, the homemade fish cakes can be recommended too. All in all superb food and drink, delightful staff and a relaxed setting. By far our favourite place to eat in South Wales.

Second visit for us and we were again not disappointed. Love the menu and it gets varied with the 2 course specials. The staff are the friendliest and compliment the great atmosphere. See you again soon 👍

Absolutely love this place. My father and I try to eat there once a week. The lunch menu is excellent and you feel that you are in the middle of some Mediterranean bar, surrounded by the smells of garlic and citrus. Best restaurant in porthcawl

Really disappointed, the place needs a refeb, food, was OK not what you'd expect from a place like that. The last time we went it was lovely and we were so looking forward to the same standard, sorry to say,Not!!

1st time going for lunch, staff very attentive and menu was good. Food come promptly and well presented and tasty. The wine was delicious and cold.. Will go back.

Always enjoy it when we go. Went for my birthday tonight with friends and had a great time. We all had the set weekday menu and it was very good. Served by very young enthusiastic staff, who made it a really nice experience.

Wow what an absolute treat. The food was outstanding, we had 3 courses. The fishcakes were the best I've ever had. Followed by the lamb kebab so succulent. The profiteroles were moreish. Great selection of food and wines. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Isobellas we will be back.

Amazingly well cooked food in this busy restaurant. My starter was clams which were beautifully tender with a well flavoured sauce. My wife had a lovely home made chicken liver pate with orange which was very rich. Our mains of lamb kebabs were served pink and really tender. Lovely flavour. The kebabs were served with well cooked sautéed potatoes and beans and peas which made a good balance. The downside was loud rock music which we could have done without. Service was helpful friendly and efficient on a busy Friday night. Would return if we come back to Porthcawl.

Haven’t been here since before Covid. Food and service excellent. Wine by glass great value I had Rose hubby had merlot. We had meatballs and mussels and both had lamb kebabs and we shared a panacotta .

Hit or miss. Our first visit the food was great but the owner was so rude to our waitress in front of us that she made it awkward and uncomfortable to dine there. Maybe she was having a bad day…so we tried again. Second time the food was lacking flavor…tasted like they forgot to season all our dishes. All dishes we had before but without any flavour from before. Gave them a third chance but we had some bad service and food was just ok that time. Found a similar cuisine called El Prado where the service is fantastic and food is constantly a hit. Save your money and support good business and customer care. :)

While the food is very good and the waiting staff are nice it’s freezing and music is loud. When we asked the owner she said she’d put the heating on for 10 minutes and turn the music down a bit but she didn’t. Her attitude was rude and dismissive.

Visited this place on a recommendation from a friend. We went about 1230hrs on a Friday. On arrival, we were immediately asked if had booked a table ( which we hadn't). However, the wonderful staff found my wife and I a table. We opted for the 2 courses for £13.99 special. We found the staff amazing. Swift,polite and very knowledgeable about the menu. I opted for Portuguese chicken wings to start, my wife had Prawn cocktail. For my main I chose pork loin with pepper corn sauce, my wife went with the waitress advice and had the Beef Stroganoff. All 4 meals were AMAZING!! We intend to go back to Porthcawl just we can experience an evening at Isabellas and this time we'll be ordering off the main menu. Thanks to all the staff who got my wife's birthday weekend off to an amazing start. See you again soon.

You have given a 3 owing to the size of the tables. You cannot put 2 menus on the table. 2 bottles of wine if you are drinking drinking different wines as we were the tables are way to small. Will never go again. I...

Staff were so kind and caring, we had the two courses for £12 option which was fantastic value. I had the mushroom starter and then the roast salmon and courgette main.
