We took the opportunity to visit the restaurant for a date after months of lockdown. Was looking forward to it but do not like having to pay a deposit. I know restaurants use to do it many years ago but was surprised to have to pay £30 a head to book a table!! Our booking was at 6pm and we were finished the 8 course tasting menu at £60 a head by 7:20 I felt like they wanted us in and out as quickly as possible!! The menu was so varied...fish, meat, salad with warm dressing and 3 puddings!! Nothing really stood out at all. Like the fact that the food is locally sourced. The Local wine pairing at £50 was a nice touch but expensive for what is was!! The service was excellent but each time a member of staff came to explain the food or wine it was very difficult to hear them with the noise and they were wearing masks. I appreciated the masks in this time but added to the servers/chefs being hard to hear. I did leave a generous tip as the enthusiastic effort of the staff was impressive. The venue is quite small and toilet is in the middle of the restaurant. The hand written sign beside the latch said to please ensure you lock it properly to ensure privacy!! I eat out a lot and was quite surprised at the £220 bill for the tasting menu and wine pairing for 2!!

We had out first anniversary meal here last night and it was absolutely fantastic - wonderfully relaxed, you eat what you are given, several courses of incredible locally sourced food all matched with delicious local wines; which just raises everything up t the heavens - it was phenomenal. We are not the most fancy of diners, but we have eaten at quite a few nice places, I can't think of a better meal we have had in England. Glorious delicate flavors that are sophisticated, gentle and subtle allow you to carry on all the way through the different stages of the meal, culminating in the richer meats and cheeses, and then topped off with several deserts! Thank you team Isaac - you treated us like royalty. Managed Covid procedure really well too.

The Lion & Lobster

12/08/2020: Food good drinks cold and staff welcoming and helpful . Outdoor area not massive but kept clean . Standard menu but Fish and chips good . Advisable in today’s climate to book ahead and secure a table. They have their own app which has a menu and a method of payment, all contactless , and it gives you a little discount if you decide to use it.
04/08/2020: We had an amazing meal at this fabulous pub. The hosts were friendly and efficient and we sat on the roof which was lovely. Ordered the sirloin which was delicious.
