The waitresses are professional friendly and lovely, the food is incredible, if you read this iris staff I was the guy who came in yesterday with the girl with the red hair 😃your service is incredible, I hope your boss reads this so you all get a pay rise! 😊👍👍

Sampled Sunday lunch both in the restaurant and at home recently and it’s superb. Service in the restaurant is first class, friendly and very helpful. Food delivery is super efficient, easy to prepare and absolutely delicious.

Not great. The free range chicken breast appeared to be cut of the roast chicken, rather than a freshly cooked chicken breast, and what they so the rhubarb was sacrilege. No taste at all. The waitresses need to be on a need to know basis, and not go off asking questions on everything you question 🤔.

A great small restaurant serving British food. There is a good choice on the menu and the food tastes great. If you have food intolerances they cater for you very well. Well worth a visit but book ahead because it gets very busy.

The food is always consistently good and the staff that work there are lovely and friendly. However we feel they there are a couple of too many tables crammed in recently and also it’s looking a bit tired, a bit grubby and in need of a good clean and re-paint. We do love the food there but it is a bit spoilt by this.

Me and my wife had a most excellent meal on New Year’s Eve definitely equals Michelin starred meals we have had in the past, combined with great service and Lovley atmosphere including the wonderful live singer. You must go and experience this special place.

Excellent Christmas lunch and fine service.

We had a very pleasant lunch, very reasonably priced and pleasantly presented. It was a last minute decision to go and our first visit. A friend had recommended it, but quite a while ago. We were absolutely delighted we decided to go there. Great food, nice wine. Liked it!

First visit here last night. Went for the Vegan set festive menu. 1 word; faultless. Upon arrival we were sat down and coats taken, served drinks quickly and food order taken. The 3 courses we had were out of this world. I went for the butternut squash risotto, festive dinner and golden snitch to finish. Amazing food, amazing service and very reasonable prices. Will 100% be back

Outstanding British style bistro in the centre of Wakefield. We went on 'steak night' and were served a gastronomic feast by knowledgeable and truly friendly front of house staff. Our steaks were cooked perfectly to our requirements and the cauliflower cheese was to die for.

Food is amazing, staff all very friendly and welcoming too. Overall great venue and will be back again.

Excellent Sunday lunch and very good service. You can get a little cramped for room on tables for two. One gripe is the charge of £5 for a pint of soda water. Not a deal breaker though. Will be back for sure.

Only had 90 mins to eat Sunday lunch. Ended up not being able to have pudding as our 90 mins were up. Went elsewhere for drinks & puds!

Such a fantastic little place ...as soon as you enter the outside noise completely disappears and you are left with a lovely dining ambience. The staff were so lovely and friendly and prompt with everything they do. We had a variety of dietary needs that were all catered for. The drink available catered to all needs.tye environment was the exceptional and really added to the dining experience. We chose from the set menu and wasn't disappointed. Each course came with its own unique twist and flavours and coped to perfection. We went on for our friends birthday and we all really enjoyed ourselves. The meal was rounded off with some amazing deserts that we can definitely recommend. There gaps between courses were just right. All In all we had an amazing dining experience and would recommend it to anyone that doesn't want to go to a loud busy restaurant. We will definitely go again and the price was extremely reasonable. Thank you to all the staff for making our evening amazing.

British cuisine does not have a good reputation in continental Europe. This restaurant belies all the critics.

Excellent food with great service.

We didn't have a reservation when we arrived, but we were given a table straight away, the restaurant was cozy and the staff were attentive, my starter arrived and it was really nice, unfortunately I don't remember the name but it was calamari, I also ordered the French steak for £15 on the steak menu, it came with fries and bearnaise sauce, I asked for rare, the steak arrived, very thin, medium cooked and very fatty, it was so disappointing, I left all the fat which ment there was quite a bit left on my plate, now as a restaurant if someone had clearly left a lot of fat on the plate, I'd be asking if their was a problem, but sadly nothing was said. It wasn't a bad experience, it was just disappointing, first time customers unfortunately the last as well

To be honest, I'm lost for words. The food is first class. The flavours and seasonings are like nothing I've tasted before.....outstanding. The staff are attentive and polite. I would highly recommend the Iris. Thanks guys.

Excellent and varied menu. Very popular so need to book usually. Staff are always pleasant and if you are querying a dish they are very helpful. The Sunday lunch is highly recommended. Have been getting their weekend takeaways which you heat up at home, there have been Spanish tapas, Sunday roast, Italian food, American food etc etc. Very generous portions. Highly recommend

Stunning meal, myself, and my partner both went off the steak menu. I had the Argentina and she went Spanish. Both steaks were perfectly cooked and well presented. Followed by a cheese board each. The Berry spritzer and the Elderflower spritzer were both lovely and refreshing. The was just short of £60. Definitely worth a visit.

It's very nice and ok for a special event but it's way too pricey to go on a regular basis, the potato & garlic soup starter was nice but could have been a lot hotter plus they'd run out of cranberry sauce for the chicken dinner. Four starters, four adults meals & one kids meal, with sweets plus a few drinks came to £165 👍

I visited with a couple of friends for the £15 menu , I had mussels and then prawn and squid curry and although everything was cooked very well it seriously lacked seasoning and flavour ..very very bland ..it’s a shame because a great offer and had it been good would have tried other menus but sadly this won’t be happening

I usually can't fault this restaurant but on our last visit we were seated near the door. People coming in and out waiting for takeaway orders to be brought to them was annoying, especially when they didn't shut the door. Perhaps a pick-up point round the side or back would work better.

Used to love coming here, but since turning vegan, I've not been at all, I don't think. (I've been vegan for 6 years now). When they brought out a 3 course vegan menu for Christmas, we jumped straight on it, and I suggested it to the entire family. The vegan food was so good, flavours were on point & we didn't feel like we missed out. I posted the recommendation in a local vegan group & hope to see a vegan option added to the menu to make this more accessible. @vgn.adventures

Best Sunday dinner I've ever had by far. Even beats my own home cooked one. Chocolate bomb melt was unbelievable. Defo worth a visit, and don't forget to book.

We went here last night for the valentine's taster menu and it was fantastic. Every course was delicious, the staff were attentive without being intrusive and they hadn't over booked so it wasn't crowded or over loud. Overall had a brilliant night

Had the Sunday lunch, and couldn’t fault it, service was attentive without being intrusive! The side veg was really generous! Had the roast duck which was a nice different option for a Sunday roast! Will be back!

Had the three course menu last night (currently with 30% off), totally delicious. Well worth the cost even without discount. Had pigeon breast on a risotto, followed by slow cooked belly pork and cheese and biscuits. The boss had same starter, confit duck leg followed by rice pudding, we both had triple cooked chips. Service friendly and helpful.

Visited Iris today (Thursday 27th January) A waitress was lovely, caring and polite. The food was amazing and was presented nicely! I had a pigeon for starter and venison for my main. My partner had soup and hake. We both were happy with our meals. The atmosphere was cozy and lovely. We really enjoyed our evening and will be visiting again! Big thank you to the owners of this fabulous little restaurant! ❤️

Visited on New year's day with my friend. The food was amazing and the staff were friendly and attentive. There was a friendly jovial atmosphere. Started with raclette cheese with beetroot. Main course of slow roasted beef and all the trimmings including an amazing Yorkshire pudding and a lovely fresh selection of vegetables. Desert was Black cherry and kirsch trifle. Can't wait to return.

A cosy, modern restaurant with attentive and friendly service. The menu is small but considered (6 starters, 6 mains, 6 desserts). Each dish is creative, well presented and offers excellent value considering the quality of the food (£30 for 3 courses). There is also a good looking wine list – would particularly recommend the Primitivo, which is superb. All in all a cracking little restaurant. We will be recommending to our friends and look forward to returning soon.

Very quiet and beautifully presented restaurant, attended a works Christmas dinner with 9 other people. Staff were all VERY friendly and helpful, the food was absolutely delicious as well as filling. I would highly recommend and would happily return.

Treated to a family Sunday lunch and wasn't disappointed. We ordered the roast beef medium rare which arrived cooked to our liking. Large portion with all the trimmings. The staff were friendly and the service was efficient throughout. Great atmosphere and will definitely return. Recommended.

First visit, can't believe I left it so long. Lovely, fairly small scale restaurant in the centre of town. Visited on a Wednesday when it's Pie Night 5.00pm - 6.30pm. Our table was booked for 6.45pm but they still accommodated us from the Pie menu. My party either had the Braised Lamb Shank pie or the Beef Bourguignon pie, both were spectacular, the pastry on the latter was unbelievably good. Pudding for me was warm Yorkshire Parkin with vanilla ice cream & vanilla-infused clementine. Sooo good. Cannot wait to go back, very highly recommended.

We held our Christmas party at Iris and what a lovely evening we had. The food was divine and the staff are so polite and friendly too. This is serious food, but offers great value for money. Wakefield is very fortunate having Iris. Would highly recommend and can't wait for our next visit.

Went here yesterday (Sunday 4th December) with a family group. It was nicely busy with a good turnover of diners. The welcome was sincere, the seating good and the cleaning and rearranging of seating between dining groups handled swiftly and well with no disturbance to us already dining. The food was good - fresh, tasty, warm, well presented. I have specific dietary requirements which were met well and with no fuss. Service to table was friendly, timely and unobtrusive. Priced well and 'tip' or 'service charge' not presumed on the bill. An unusual honesty these days. All good, going again.

Had the Oktoberfest dine at home box for two at the weekend. Outstanding. Great meat selection and all the extras. All the dine at home boxes we’ve had since they started have been brilliant. It’s a great treat when you can’t go out.

Yesterday we visited Iris for the first time for a Sunday dinner. We will certainly be regulars at Iris now as we had such a great experience. I rang on the morning to book a table on the off chance of any cancellations as there was no availability via their online bookings system. The phone rang and then diverted to presumably the owner who was very friendly and kindly fitted us in. The restaurant setting is really smart and clean. The food was delicious and excellent value. We all had Sunday dinners; roast beef, belly pork and a children’s chicken dinner. They were all served with a lovely assortment of vegetables and an extra gravy boat (we always love this as we aregravy fiends!). We all had desserts; sticky toffee pudding, chocolate millionaire shortbread and ice cream for our daughter. Most of all though, the staff were all incredible. Every single team member was super friendly and attentive. They were so kind with out young daughter and really made us feel at home. The staff kindly brought the ice cream straight away to keep our daughter happy, much appreciated! It’s the little things like these which make such a huge difference. We had such a good experience and cannot wait to go back. We’re visiting again on Friday for their Pie & Mash menu. This looks incredible value yet again, and from the photos we’ve seen, the pies look delicious. We can’t wait to go back! A small suggestion for the owner (not a criticism at all) … it would be lovely for all the staff to have name badges. They were all so excellent and would have been lovely to give them a shoutout on the review!

Absolutely stunning Sunday dinner. Visited after searching for restaurants that serve Sunday Dinner. We stumbled across Iris, so booked, and it didn't disappointed. We ordered a Lamb and Chicken roast (divine). The vegetables were served separately- warm and delicious. They even catered to Gluten Free, making sure I still got a side of cheesy cauliflower. We were utterly impressed. Will definitely be returning!

Just had the "Round the World " experience. Ten courses ten countries. I think they do this on a Thursday about every two months. Excellent quality food, enjoyed every course. Thoroughly recommend.
