What can I say such a wonderful experience. I went with my partner and we stayed overnight, lunch, had dinner, two bottles of lovely wine, carva, and two small glasses of wine which was just under £300. Yes it's slightly pricey but honestly with all that it comes in at really good value. We sadly went there when the weather was horrible so I would recommend going when it's a bit nicer weather as a walk on the beach and having ice-cream would be the lovely icing on the cake we couldn't get, but we plan to go when the weather is nice. The staff and owners are the most lovely people you will ever meet, they made us feel welcome the moment you get there, they are all pretty relaxed Food: I highly recommend the Popcorn cockles and Welsh lavavbread (I normally hate lavavbread) but all the dishes were amazing Drink: treat yourself to a glass of cava to start your meal and the albrino is perfect as a bottle or a large glass with your food. We also had a rose but I thought the other wines we had were slightly better, but ask the owner for a more in-depth knowledge of wines and what would be better suited for your tastes. Room: the room gets very warm, and the shower was a bit small for a 6ft guy haha but it had great pressure and we got some lovely Welsh cakes as a welcome. I look forward to coming back and making it a home away from home when we want a little get away.

What a fabulous dinner this was! Teej (formally of Curado in Cardiff and Ultracomida) and her amazing team have done wonders in this small village, and Inn at the Sticks is just the perfect place to get away for the evening and have a nice night with quality, original food and drinks. And the rooms were excellent too - comfy, clean and well priced! AND there's a deli for drinks and food to take away too!! Highly recommended!

What can I say xx After asking and hearing everyone talk so highly about the food, staff and decor of Inn At The Sticks, I have been following them on instagram for quite a while now so I booked 2 rooms for our friends and us. We checked in at 2 pm, were welcomed like family and had drinks at the bar. We went for a lovely walk to the castle with amazing views. Then back at the pub we discussed the menu and the specials, asked advice and ordered several dishes to share and taste. Delicious food, by far the best in West Wales at the moment. We felt the passion about their food, pub and service from everyone. Then we sat by the fire on the sofa in the Deli and played cards and drank lovely wine. Our rooms were also lovely and comfortable, breakfast was delicious with 2 courses. Thankyou so much for our experience and tasty food xxx

There's new life in the old inn..... Llansteffan's charm isn't just in its serene walks and dog-friendly beaches. It's in the culinary rebirth of The Inn at the Sticks, now under the dynamic Teej, a culinary wizard. Who's Teej, You Ask? For those unfamiliar, Teej was the heart and soul of Curado in Cardiff. Known for her warmth and deep knowledge, Teej was a familiar, kind face to many. But little did we know of her hidden culinary talents, which she has now brought to with Debs and Mel to The Inn at the Sticks. What's new at the Inn? Walking into the revamped Inn, you're greeted by an array of small plates that pack a punch of flavour. Who knew carrots could be this exciting? We're talking about Yorkshire puddings the size of a baby's head, a selection of carefully chosen Spanish wines, and dishes that leave you longing for more. Their smoked trout is a revelation – hot smoked trout served with celery, apple, and caperberries, all brought together with a tonka bean and sherry vinegar mayo. Not our average dish of choice. Then there’s the brisket of beef, served with a gigantic Yorkshire pudding and those unforgettable carrots. Not to forget the cottage pie, a warm belly hug after a fighting through storm Isha. Let's talk desserts - because at The Inn at the Sticks, they're a serious affair. The Bara Brith sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch & tea sauce and the Penderyn Merlyn cheesecake are not just desserts. They are a celebration of Welsh heritage and flavours. Teej and her team have brought a bit of that Spanish flair from Curado, intertwining it seamlessly with local Welsh charm. The result? A culinary experience that’s both familiar and exciting, fresh and new. The Inn at the Sticks isn't just about the food. It's about that warm, welcoming feeling and that's down to the team of strong, inspiring women at the helm, the Inn isn't just a place for a pint (though their ales are still as delightful as ever); it's a destination for food lovers. Add to that their cosy rooms and the charming deli, and you’ve got the perfect spot for indulging in good food, sipping on cracking wines, and taking those serene coastal walks. Croeso yn nôl ♡

Four of us Popped in for lunch after a walk on Llansteffan beach. Was surprised that the menu didn't have the usual pub fare, but had loads of delicious sounding dishes instead. We all ordered different things and we were all completely delighted with our choices. In my opinion, the food was of 'Fine Dining' quality. Absolutely delicious, and obviously created by a chef that really understands how to combine flavours. To top it off, the service was brilliant and the atmosphere was very welcoming - dog friendly too. 5 stars all round

This place offers a unique combination of great food and relaxed atmosphere. There is an utter attention for detail and great interaction with the customers. The owners put a lot of value in sourcing local and fresh ingredients, and a lot of creativity goes into preparing the specials. Their “wine therapy” is based on knowledgeably and carefully selected wines, the result is an interesting wine list that covers both traditional and curious choices. Their take on the national dish “rarebit” makes for an indulgent yet delicate moment. We enjoyed a choice of mains across the board, including lamb, sole and beef, each one with its own subtle advantage, all surprising in their balance and richness. Our room with traditional beams and high posted bed was tastefully presented, clean and equipped with everything we could need. All in all a fantastic stay and we will be recommending to friends. Thank you team @innatthesticks

Great to see such a staple of the town alive and kicking again. Really enjoyed ourselves and will be back for sure. Great for meat eaters and pescatarians. Options for vegetarians were limited despite it being such a fertile time of the year for so much veg! We had a plentiful meal full of meat and fish, whilst my sister ate cabbage and carrots - which were lovely, but the same price as the meat options and don't add up to a well rounded meal. The mussels were excellent and service very pleasant.

I chose the lamb for my main course my husband had fish and chips. The lamb was gorgeous cooked to perfection, slightly pink with just a hint of rosemary. My husbands fish was lovely and he appreciated the chunky chlps with home made tartar sauce. We both had desert, my chocolate fondant with cream and hubby's fruit crumble both delicious. I was looking forward to an excellent meal, but it was very disappointing especially considering the prices. The soup had a burnt taste, the scallops were tiny and only 3 of them. The steak was good and the chips, but very salty. With a good chef this pub could make a very good trade, but after the current surge in places to eat after lockdown eases it will struggle unless they improve. The pub itself is great and a nice place to drink.

We took our parents for Sunday lunch for their wedding anniversary. The experience was very poor. I Hate to leave a bad review, but I doubt very much I would return. The young man who was our main server seemed ill informed, impatient and somewhat disinterested. Pot of tea served with no milk or sugar, then was asked on his next visit yo the table if we wanted milk. Having served us drinks and gone back and forth to check what the soup if the day was. Just as we were ready to order he then said sorry we are out of beef, why couldn't they tell us before hand as we had all decided on beef. Eventually we all ordered garlic mushrooms to start, which were OK but the bread wasn't toasted as per menu so it was all mushy and sloppy under the mushrooms, flavour was ok though. For the mains, 3 of us ordered the pork and 1 of us ordered the glamorgan sausage. First item of the mains to arrive was a bowl of cauliflower cheese, it was literally burnt to a crisp and black, we couldn't understand why they would even try and serve it. The young lady promptly replaced it, the replacement was better but still way over cooked. Then we were served a bowl of carrots and peas, and unlike the cauliflower these were cold! Then came the plated pork, we had asked to have a yorkshire pudding each as only the beef was served with yorkshires. The pork was horrendously tough, the roast potatoes were so overcooked they could hardly be cut. My wife discovered a big lump of blackened charred burnt stuffing like item under her pork. She said sorry to the waitress and waiter and sent it back as inedible, they offered to replace it but she had been totally put off by this point and to be fair they didn't charge her. I ate about 1 quarter of my lunch had one fork of pork, failed to eat the roast potatoes, the best part was actually the cold veg and overcooked cauliflower. All four yorkshire puddings were dark dark brown virtually black we all tried them and left them. My mother inlaws glamorgan sausage, wasn't a sausage but what looked like stuffing mix on a plate. She couldn't eat any of her lunch, my father inlaw likes his food overcooked but still only managed to eat half his meal. We said that we weren't very happy but felt bad that we were complaining. My wife received a complimentary glass of wine which was a nice gesture. Which reminds me, that they didn't have any ice for the wine or soft drinks. They cleared our table of unfinished inedible lunch. We were offered desert but none if us wanted to risk it. I went to the bar to pay, and said I didn't like complaining but it was awful, the young lady and the gentleman behind the bar were pleasant and apologised they said they had only taken over since January, then they had lockdown. We feel terribly sorry for anyone in the restaurant business at the moment and do our best to support local. They didn't charge me for my wife's main course, but I was shocked that the bill was still over £80, I did pay it as I really didn't want to spoil the parents anniversary any further by escalating my disappointment. I'm sure Inn at the sticks must have felt embarrassed to charge us for our meals, and I have been trying to work out since how it cost so much as a 2 course Sunday lunch is priced as £17 ea. I really wish we had photographed the meals to post them, they were shockingly bad. Sorry to say our experience here was very very poor, nothing like some of the positive reviews posted by other customers. We came home and cooked our own meal, since we had hardly eaten anything. Such a shame and I do regret not questioning the £80 bill. Doubt we could be convinced to return here anytime soon. I Hope they really manage to sort themselves out if they are to survive in business. Some of the photos of Sunday lunch posted by other people looked really lovely with a whole host of vegetables, and nothing looks black and burnt. Ours was absolutely nothing like that! Sorry our experience doesn't warrant a better review.

Stopped off into this superb little Inn in our way to the castle. Had the home made fries and olive and bread and I simply cannot fault it. The staff lovely and friendly and the food was beautiful. I would say the price was fair for the portion sizes. Definitely recommend and would return again.

While staying in a lovely house by Llansteffan Beach, we found several pubs but one has stood out above all and we ended up eating here more than 4 times in a week. Inn on the Stocks, just a 3 minute drive or an 8 minute walk from where we are staying. Food was amazing and high quality, Started with Sunday Lunch, best Beef ever, Braised Beef rather than roasted with the most amazing roast potatoes ever. Been for evening dinner several times since and each night amazing food, yes I am using Amazing many times as this is needed to describe the food and the service.Between the two of us we have tried almost everything on the menu, stand out are the Chocolate Fondant, steak, mushroom soup but many more. Great chef and great bar and front of house guy Josh, could not be more friendly and helpful. As per the title the best thing is it s great every time unlike some places you go once great and second d time not so good, this place better each time. If you are near try it, if you are far away get there and try it!

We popped in and after just missing the lunch service stayed for a drink. Great beer and service, good COVID measures in place. It’s an old building but with modern standards and very pleasant to look around at the exposed woodwork and brickwork.

Really great room, clean and beautiful. Great welcome on arrival and great service in the bar from Dino, one of the owners. The bar and restaurant are great and very good for social distancing. We had a lovely evening meal in the restaurant with my parents. The sirloin steak, fish and chips and burger were great. Although we didn’t want desert or coffee I was quite surprised that were not offered this, Especially as there was only one other couple in the whole of the restaurant. The only other criticism I would have was the breakfast. The sausage was Awful and I didn’t like the fact that the bacon was streaky bacon and not very well cooked. Also the toast was burnt. I was not impressed by the fact you had to help yourself to juices and cereals which is not acceptable in the current situation with covid. Despite the problems with breakfast we would definitely stay here again if these issues were addressed as it’s a beautiful place to stay in a beautiful village.

We stopped in Llandovery on an impulse coming back from the coast one Sunday evening and all at The Bear couldn’t have been nicer. They made a room available at short notice, fed us extremely tasty Thai veggie food and generally couldn’t have been more welcoming. They even pointed us in the direction of a truly and filthily delicious bacon roll in the morning. Lovely. Given half a chance we’ll be back.
