This place used to be excellent but tried several times going here with my daughter at lunchtime which advertised as being open and the lazy owner sitting down on he’s phone several times just can’t be bothered to serve us just said rudely we’re closed! Is that good service?If you like being treated very rudely with a owner that doesn’t care about he’s customer then by allmeans come here!I will not be entertained by such an ignorant owner!YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED,

Used to be the best Indian in the county by miles. Since the new ownership it has been in steep decline. The service is good but the food is just not good enough. There was only 3 of us and they still got the order wrong. Funnily enough they still tried to charge us though for the missing items. The Balti was most definitely reheated and the Sag Aloo microwaved. I know because I'm a chef and know the difference between fresh and frozen reheated. Ive not been here for a long time and it will be a long time before I go back if at all. Its way over priced for the poor quality of food.

Decided to try the chicken achari which was divine and I could handle the spice too! Can’t wait to make my way through the rest of the menu

Delicious food, large portions, attentive friendly staff (in masks & visors!) and great atmosphere. Highly recommend, one of the best if not the best curry houses in the area.

we have been there twice this month 😊. Incredible food and flavor and outstanding service. My son rates as the best Indian restaurant in the world. would definitely go back we we pass by Bournmouth again.

Hadn’t eaten here for a good while now as it suddenly went down hill but did used to be nice! So thought we’d try again as it has now changed hands. The staff were friendly and the bear nice and chilled, but the food was not very nice at all. Had a lamb shashlik. The meat was over cooked and very dry and far to rich in flavour. To much of something in the marinade?? My colleague had exactly the same but with chicken and said it wasn’t great!! Was offered a complementary drink on the house once paid.

Fancied a change from the usual cheap and cheerful 'two pot' - where everything comes either in brown or red sauces - indian restaurants and so we chose the Indian Ocean. We'd been there a couple of years previously when it had been very good.Delighted to say we were not disappointed this time; from the friendly welcome and prompt service, to the excellent food. Service was very good and the dishes were well presented and delicious.It's not the cheapest restaurant around by any means but it is one of the best, in our experience. Loved it.

We have been there a number of times (with a management change-over) and probably tried nearly all on offer on the menu. The dishes are well flavoured and the naans are freshly hot made. The 'older' waiters are friendlier but still you may be taken aback when ordering with the words 'what do you want?' splashed on your stunned faces. May be they take friendliness to an unusual level which should not be towards a customer.

After giving this restaurant a good review, unfortunately I have changed my mind. My husband visited the restaurant and ordered a takeaway. The restaurant was empty and we live just around the corner. My meal was stone cold. I ate it as I was hungry. I then rang the restaurant and was told I could order again, no use to me. He then said that next time we ordered to let them know to get a free meal. Well sorry I won’t be visiting again.

We really enjoy eating here. They have a wide menu and the food is always fabulous. The service is always wonderful. The staff are always pleasant and welcoming.

We visited the Restaurant without pre-ordering our lar and varied takeaway order.Despite this the food was ready in 20 minutes. The staff were curteous and helpful.The Familt meal for 7 people was of excellent quality and plentiful.In over 60 years of enjoying Curries this was as good as any I have had.

Group of friends came here for a meal. Food was very tasty and the Lamb bhuna is very good. The food Is good , however there is one particular waiter who is unbelievably awful. To our group it was funny but for some it could spoil your evening. Otherwise a great evening.

Just called to place an order for delivery and was told very abruptly that ‘we do not deliver to you’ I politely asked if this is a new decision because we order with you regularly only to be told ‘delete our number from your phone. What an awful way to treat what was a regular customer, I can actually appreciate if that’s their new policy but it could have been communicated much more politely. Think they should consider this member of staff’s customer service skills because it will inevitably impact the reputation of the business.

I was a little concerned on arrival as we were the only people in the restaurant (but it was a Sunday evening).

We haven’t eaten here since it changed ownership but were pleasantly surprised. The service was quick and friendly. Food came out quickly too. Very nice food, will be back soon.

The guys here at Indian Ocean always go that one step above every other Indian around. Food is consistently amazing and service is top notch. celebrated my 50th last weekend and it was a no brainer to bring the family down to this place. The restaurant was buzzing on a Saturday night but service was still very fast yet not overbearing. Don't usually write reviews but these guys definitely deserve the praise. A round of complementary drinks for the family was a thoughtful gesture. Have been using the Indian Ocean for the last few years now, and will definitely continue.

After visiting this restaurant with hubby. We both left chuffed. The food can only be described as mouthwatering nice tender lamb chops was the highlight of the meal. Service was great attentive and not overbearing Azad was very bubbly took his time to explain the dishes on the menu complimentary baileys to end our meal will definitely return

Got a takeaway of chicken tikka masala , mix grill ,prawn Puri and ban bread . Chicken tikka masala was red in colour and just sweet , absolutely no flavour , just slightly coco nutty

Took 1 1/2 hour to get a very small order for one. Had to call after an hour to find out where it was. A Very apologetic person assured me the driver had already left, however food arrived late, was not great quality and unfortunately, lukewarm.

Staying in the premier inn hotel near sunbury cross roundabout. Fancied a curry highly rated on tripadvisor, so decided to book a table reasonably busy on a midweek.

Been coming to the Indian Ocean for many years now and they are always consistent to deliver some very tasty food and prompt service. Dined in last Saturday and they were really busy (luckily we booked). Food was great as usual and service second to none. Keep up the good work!

I used to go here at least once a week when it was owned by the previous owners. It was the best Indian in the county. Since its been taken over its just gone so far down hill in every aspect that I doubt I'll ever go here again. The price is still as high as it was but the food is just no where near the standard it used to be. Service is good but not great. The food is slow to arrive as are the drinks. They need to sort this out immediately or they will be closing or selling within a year.

Booked a large table here on Saturday night for my birthday meal with family. Food was amazing and service very fast and attentive. Round Of complementary drinks to top off the night which was a really nice touch. The place was full which is always a good sign. Highly recommend the Indian Ocean.

Food come an hour and a half after ordering

The welcome was a young lady who met us with a scowl saying takeaway? The starters very average although the Main was tasty, but the most annoying thing is we were there for around 90 mins and never asked if we would like our drinks replenished, we were asked in a lack lustre way 'how is your meal' perhaps 'how is everything' would of been a better question....The table was bare on arrival as they put the plates and cutlery out when you sit down, our table cloth was whipped away at the end of the meal and the usual hot towels placed down, didn't bother couldn't wait to get out even complimentary drink refused .....There are some great curry houses in the area, Shappi of Ashford or the Ivory Tusk inn Shepperton pay them a visit ...Service was terrible and for me thats all part of the experience.

Went here with my 10 yr old daughter before we fly back home tomorrow. This place really is good. Very good. All of it. We plan on bringing some Sunbury friends here one day soon. I’ve been eating assorted curries from around the globe for 30 yrs - incl. India - so I appreciate a good one. This is a great western curry restaurant and we will be return.

We were staying in the local area for a flight out of LHR the following morning and wanted an Indian meal, since it's often difficult to find a good Indian restaurant in the USA. So, based on the reviews of the Indian Ocean, we decided to give it a try. Although it was Father's Day the night we were there, we booked in with no problem and arrived around 6pm. The staff were friendly and the meal was very good. We were pleasantly surprised. The popadoms were fresh and the food was very tasty. I would definitely come back next time we are in the area.

we used to visit here a lot but as of recently its not been great. paid £20 each which for curry,rice,naan and one fizzy drink i think is pretty extortionate there are much cheaper options around and the feeble service didnt make up for it. the biggest problem was that only 2 members of our party wanted to order alcholic drinks- one a beer the other a chardonnay. they came back and onyl asked the woman who wanted the wine for ID. she didnt have any on her but was happy to just have a lemonade instead... but then bought over the beer still without even asking the gentleman? can I add the gentleman was actually only 17, and of course they wouldnt know because of the lack of ID but the woman was 19. bit of a joke considering the manager came over and said they were being really hot on IDs and always ask everyone, you sure mate? anyways food wasn't particularly impressive. and the payment at the end took forever. probably find somewhere better next time.

First time i have ever tried Indian Ocean. I will defo be back. Garlic chilli Chicken pilau rice keema naan. Well it is the best ive ever had. There was so much meat in the keema naan. The garlic chilli chicken was spicy but so tasty just the right amount of spice and cooked so fresh. Great value for money and you get so much in the take away. I would highly recommend this place

Normally takeaway is not as nice as the actual place but here it is. Lovely berryani and naan bread. Will come again or order again. I love Indian Ocean.

We were handed a free meal raffle prize for a meal for two here by a relative but were 50/50 about making the trip as it was a 30 minute journey...well it was worth it. The staff were impeccable, incredibly friendly and professional, and made such an effort to make sure we enjoyed every moment. It was a BIG meal but we kept eating because the flavours were so enticing. If this is a local curry house to you then count your blessings.

The Indian Ocean is a superb Indian restaurant. I really enjoyed the taste of their food. It is not too spicy and hence it was ideal for me. They have a deal going on at the moment which is for £15 you get: 1 starter, 1 main, 1 side dish, 1 naan/rice. This is so great and very good value for money. There is a good variety of dishes and plenty to choose from. Tandoori Panner Shashlik was my favourite this evening.

Great place to go with friends. The staff are very friendly and the food was very nice. I'm not a big curry lover as I don't love spicy food but I really did enjoy it here. Not one complete from any of my group they all loved the experience.

My son and his girlfriend have recently moved to Ashford. My wife and I wanted to see if there were any good Indian restaurants in his new neighbourhood. We chose the Indian Ocean based upon good reviews on TA.

The quality of food is really excellent and the food is cooked to perfection. Fantastic lamb served here and the onion bhaji are legendary. Management and staff are very welcoming. Good Indian lager on tap. Reasonable prices and deals on Mondays and Tuesdays. Free parking outside.

Went there last night. The problem is I really like chicken dansak and I very rarely try anything else. Last nights dhansak was the best I have there (or elsewhere). As usual the staff were attentive and the meal was good value.

We had a lovely welcome from the 'man in charge' and whilst we hadn't booked, he found us a table for two. Unfortunately the table was on one side, access for the staff to the kitchens and the other gave access to the loo. There was a large party, celebrating a birthday all the way to the left so access to the left was really tight. A couple of times we had to hold on to our drinks and our plates of food as people squeezed past us on route! The noise level was awful. We couldn't hear each other and certainly not the waiting staff. That said the food was very nice and the portions were huge. We had to take some home as it seemed a waste to leave it. The prices were very reasonable too. It's a shame that we couldn't say that we had a wonderful time tonight but our plan was for a romantic meal in a new restaurant which we didn't get.

We booked a table for 6.30pm as we thought the restaurant would be very busy on a Saturday night, arrived 6.15 and there were people waiting for takeaways and the phone very busy.By 8pm the restaurant was full.Waiters and service is excellent, and the restaurant is very clean with a nice ambience.I had Tandoori chicken to start which was very good and my friend had chicken tikka.Main course I had fish, Tilapia Rongiler which was good but a bit sweet for me.Garlic Naan and Madras vegetable curry were excellent.My friend had King Prawn Rongiler which she said was Devine.The main courses range from £8 upwards my main course was £10.95 however the portions are good, the food is good quality and freshly cooked.There is a good wine list that is reasonably priced, we had Shiraz ( £16.95 ) that was very smooth.No room for dessert..!!

Booked a table for 5 just from reading the reviews and to try a different restaurant out of our area. Was greeted by the manager who spent a good few minutes welcoming us and asking how we were etc. After ordering drinks we ordered a mix of veg and no -veg starters e.g. Chicken pakora tandoori mixed starter, lamb chops, paneer shashlick and alloo chaat. The food came piping hot, was tasty and was soon devoured. We waited about 30-40 minutes before ordering our main course and were not rushed at all. For mains we ordered karahi lamb, butter chicken, vegetable madras, special mix rice naan bread and keema naan. Everyone enjoyed the spices and flavour of the food. To top it off when we finished we were presented with a candle lit cake for our birthday which was just a great touch. I would highly recommend this place for the entire package of good ambience, clean, good food, great service, good portions and friendly staff.

I used to frequent this restaurant often when I lived in the area. I now live in a different county and still make the effort to come out. The staff are absolutely lovely, kind and helpful. The food is excellent with a lot of variety and a taste for everyone.I often order off menu items and this is done kindly provided it's actually possible. The prices are incredibly reasonable considering the quality and freshness of the dishes.On a closing note such is my relationship with management and staff after being a loyal customer for nearly ten years, I dare du I feel like part of the family and I'm always greeted humbly and made to feel at home. Excellent food served with excellent service. The quality of the food is extremely good and I will definitely be coming back to eat here. On Mondays and Tuesdays they do a banquet night where there is a special priced set menu of a starter, a side dish, main curry dish, naan or rice which is outstanding value at £14.95 PP. You will have to book as very busy and you won't get a table.

We went as a last minute decision and luckily they took us and we only had to wait 10 mins or so to be seated. Every table in the restaurant was occupied so clearly a popular restaurant. We only ordered a selection of starters as was quite late in the evening. Food and service both were good.

This is my go to curry house, the food is always excellent and very consistent, the owner is friendly and always very chatty, the Delivery service is always on time and the curry just as good, they even gave us a lift home when we couldn't get a taxi! How's that for service, can't fault the place, best curry around.

Very pleasant evening - good beverage selection, extensive menu, excellent food and attentive staff. What else could you ask for! In particular, the meals seemed almost individually crafted with crunchy veg for example. Meal size was also generous with the lamb shank in particular, epic.

Placed the order at 8:10pm. They said it would arrive within the hour..... The food didn't arrive until 10:05pm.By this time we had had four telephone conversations with the restaurant. The first call was made at 21:15, where the manager had called me to ask weather the food had arrived yet, to which I confirmed it had not. He then said that the driver had left the store some time ago, and therefore he should be with us any minute. About 21:40 we still hadnt recieved the food, so I called the manager, and explained that it is now really too late to be eating, as have to be up early for work. After the third phone call, The manager said that I can "make a deal" with the driver when he gets here. I challenged this (as i found it a bit strange, as surely the driver is restricted on what he can offer without the consent of management) The manager then said that he would give the food half price. Come 10pm the food still hasn't arrived and my friend had to leave as she has work commitments. At 10:10pm, as my friend was getting ready to leave, the delivery driver turned up. We had to explain that we could no longer accept the food as it was most likely cold and it was too late. The driver explained that if we didn't pay then the company will charge him for the food. The total bill for the food was £33.20.... So obviously I feel bad for the delivery driver, and I called the manager whom said that he had offered it to me half price and I should just accept that. Unfortunately this want a choice for me to pay the money as I was unable to eat it, and my friend was leaving. Plus the food had left the restaurant over an hour ago, therefore it wouldn't even be edible. The manager explained how the delivery driver had picked up more orders than he was supposed to, and that it was the delivery drivers own fault. Which could be a fair point, however; As management your employees are your responsibility. It is a managers role and responsibility to direct and organise your employees. If they are doing something wrong than you really need to question your own abilities as a manager and reflect upon your management skills. Ask yourself if there is anything that you can do to prevent these mistakes from happening again in the future. I have huge concerns that the driver is going to lose out on his wages because of the poor management of the restaurant. I mean the delivery driver looked in despair! I was horrified! I hope that the delivery driver takes it upon himself to do some research into the UK laws and legislations and employee rights act to prevent being miss treated in the future. Having witnessed the poor management and how they treat their employees, I really will not be ordering again, or visiting their restaurant. I most certainly will never recommend this place to anyone. I should not have to feel bad or guilty about someone losing their wages because of poor management... This is not how it works in England, there are laws to protect us.

Wow! This restaurant definitely deserves full marks. Where do I start? My wife and I visited this restaurant a few days ago and it was a delightful evening. Right from walking through the door the service was amazing and attentive right through until walking out the door. The food was excellent.. I have eaten in many Indian's and this is definitely up at the top, pricing was competitive for the area (especially for the quality), nice decor, background music and just an all round great experience. We will definitely be returning and next time will bring more of the family. Would recommend to anyone!

Another fantastic meal at the Indian Ocean. Masood and his team always make you feel welcome with excellent service and hospitality. The food just gets better with every visit. I had the lamb shank nawabi on this occasion and it just fell of the bone with very little fat. The sides of sagg aloo and keema rice were very well cooked and tasted fantastic. The Indian Ocean just keeps getting better and better. Would highly recommend to anyone who loves Indian food.

Really nice restaurant with lovely and attentive staff. Have been here many times and have never had an issue, and always greeted beautifully. Great food and always lots of it! And they treat regular customers to perks so one to keep going back to! Haven't found one nearly as good in the area so will keep returning.

Great friendly service in a nice atmosphere. Great house wine and good plentiful food without being exceptional. Clear and comprehensive menu with plenty of variety. Quite heavy on the tomato in the sauces for my taste - my jalfrezi could have been spicier - which is a personal preference. Overall good value.

The family and I spend birthdays and other celebrations here as the food is amazing with big portions and a great variety to choose from. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. I Would highly recommend as it truly is the best Indian we have all had, they have banquet nights on Monday and Tuesday's which is a bargain! We always come home with lunch for the next day

I have had pleasure of eating here for many years. I have tried others but always come back here. Great service and family friendly . My kids love it . You need to book a table on most days . This place is excellent on food, service , and value for money.

First went here with a group of friends from work at christmas and we had the most brilliant meal, drinks and service you could wish for. So, off the back of that, my husband and I went along on Saturday evening for a meal, as I wanted him to experience this brilliant restaurant. He was just as impressed as I was. The restaurant was buzzing all evening. The waiters and Manager are so attentive and professional, which makes the whole experience just so wonderful. The meal, again, was fabulous and the Pinot Grigio wine is really lovely. This is a little gem and an asset to the area. We have recommended to friends and family.

We ordered our food for delivery and were told it would be an hour and that was cool... an hour and twenty minutes later it turned up stone cold with half missing and half we hadn't ordered! I so i rang and complained and they said the starters would be replaced but not the mains as they could be re-heated ! The manager said it would be 15 minutes, 40 minutes later the replacement starter turned uo stone cold again !! I rang the manager to complain , he shouted me down and he pretty much called me a liar ! Apparently it must have been hot because it it came out of the oven hot !! I asked for a full refund as our anniverary meal and evenig was ruined , but was told he wasn't prepared to refund our money . we have been to this place several times with friends and always had a nice evening but after tonight I would say to everyone don't go there , don't order a delivery , don't have anything to do with place ,

Having just moved across from the Indian Ocean, we were extremely pleased to find an Indian restaurant opposite that had good reviews and more importantly, recommendations from friends. We decided to go early evening which I believe was a good idea as I do know it gets very busy. On arrival we were shown to our seats by an extremely polite and friendly member of the staff. We ordered our drinks + poppadoms which came with four dips... all of which were lovely. We decided to order lamb samosas and onion bhaji starter. I have to say the samosas were delicious but in our opinion, the bhajis did lack flavour and very bland. But this was definitely the only slight minor issue. We then ordered our main meals. My partner had 'Lamb Shank Nawabi' while I tried theNaga Chicken hot dish. Both dishes were fantastic with plenty of taste; the lamb just falling of the bone with a beautiful sauce to compliment the dish. My Naga chicken was as it should be... hot with great flavours and I truely have to compliment the chef on two fantastic dishes. The manager did have the time to come and chat to us and his passion in making sure his customers are catered for was very clear. It was an absolute pleasure eating at the Indian Ocean and we will certainly be back on regular occasions. Love it.... Many Thanks.

Not strictly true that would be silly but we have moved from the area after 34 years living in Ashford, we now reside in Swanage, Dorset. We have family still living in area and every time we visit we order to take back to Dorset. Tonight we did our usual and took a takeaway back to our daughters, which on opening up our order didn't seem to be quite right so we phoned to check and the manager insisted on delivering to our door in Shepperton the meal we were short off plus extra food, we think they are brilliant, service and food.

Really good fresh food, authentic as well as traditional favourites, friendly service and nothing seems to much trouble.

I'd recently tasted a friends takeaway from here, & it was lovely. I'd been past it & surprisingly had never noticed it before. I took my girlfriend there one Sunday afternoon. Obviously it was very quiet, but I felt that the service we received would have been the same regardless. It's a very nice restaurant & very clean. The food was a delight & because I always over order so that I can have some variety in my meal, they were happy to box up the remainder so I could take it home. Lovely Jubbly as 'Dell Boy' would say. The staff (mainly Raj) was very attentive & pleasant & interesting to talk to. I will go again. Probably on a weekend in a larger party. But definitely for the food & the service, I will be back!

Popped into the restaurant for a meal on my own, I was made very welcome by Raj who showed me to the table. Drinks ordered and a scan of the menu WOW what a selection. Food ordered and a nice conversation with my waiter the place is so relaxing.The food arrived in timely fashion beautifully presented and massive portions, there was enough for two. The food was perfectly cooked and very tasty, but being on my own couldn't finish, the staff sorted that by putting it into a take away for me. My whole experience there was fantastic and I cannot find a single fault anywhere, so if your in the area pop in you won't be disappointed, there is plenty of parking so give it try.. and the one thing that stood out was the dessert with the candle and happy birthday being sung by the staff made me very happy..

Having visited the Indian Ocean a number of times with my partner I knew the high standard to expect. On this occasion it was my daughters treat with her first wage pack and she was taking us all out The welcome was warm and we were seated immediately, the restaurant had a nice atmosphere with a number of the tables already taken The menu looks like it has changed a little since my last visit but still plenty of choice and some very excellent chef specials We asked for recommendations as it was my youngest daughters first curry and was advised on the chicken tikka which was a brilliant choice A thoroughly enjoyable evening and defiantly now a firm favourite with all the family.

Stopped by en-route at Indian Ocean. Interiors are quite classy and the welcome was warm. Service was quick and very courteous throughout the evening. Food was well presented and tasted good. Slight tweaks could be made to make the food taste even better (the sauce was slightly too thick, a tad too much colour on the sheek kebab, Paratha was slightly dry). All in all a above average experience at the Indian Ocean. Can recommend this place for a very good curry night out with very good service.

We received a warm and friendly welcome. The food was very good and the service lovely.Unfortunately, some of the other patrons were rather badly behaved and noisy.Other than that last point (which is not the restaurants fault really) everything was perfect.

Come here quite a lot and usually service very good, friendly owner. However came recently and - I believe - a new member of staff really ruined the experience.I was bought a mixed tikka masala instead of chicken which I had ordered. The waiter came over to our table looked at my food and said "you have the wrong one that's mixed masala" then went away.Of course I waited for him to come back and when he did he said "its fine you can eat it" and went away again.When I finally caught his attention again I told him that I did not want this and I wanted what I had ordered.He said "well it will take 10 minutes"I told him that I will wait because that is what I wanted.Once my friend had finished her food my food came. We had to eat separately, was served the wrong food, had a rude waiter and were offered no compensation on the inconvenience. Oh and did I mention this was a birthday dinner with a friend.Highly disappointing.

My wife and I visited this Indian restaurant on the 25/10 /16 a gentleman called Maz showed us to our table, the food and service at this restaurant is 1st class and puts other local restaurants to shame, I will be without doubt be returning on a regular basis.......thank you Indean Ocean

Stopped here for our son's 21st birthday meal after the NFL game at Twickenham. Food and staff were excellent. They were very welcoming and attentive. Complimentary drinks followed and when they found out it was our son's birthday, bought over a dessert with a candle. Little things count and Raj and the guys could not have made us more welcome. We are not local at all and the fact they went to the effort they did knowing this impressed us. We have had meals at many places and rarely review but these guys deserve 5 stars, so thanks again...
