India Gate in Belfast

After I had Biryani from that, I got diarrhea and vomiting, even I had gastroenteritis! The most terrible Indian food I had ever had.

Don't let the exterior of the building put you off. This is by far the best Indian food in Belfast.

Before I got back to my hotel the restaurant called to let me know they had forgotten an item. They sent someone with the missing item. That alone deserves five stars. On top of this the food is delicious. And they threw in an order of Onion Bhaji when they brought the missing item!

The service wasn’t great the waiter stabbed me with a fork and just wasn’t a great overall experience… I also found a hair in my food which was extremely unsanitary…The food was not great and was £21 . Wouldn’t recommend this Indian at all also there was a birthday there so atleast someone had a good time.

Food was delivered early and still warm - lamb was very tender, pilau rice fragrant but not overpowering and the highlight was the fresh garlic naan. Would definitely recommend!

Butter chicken tasted extremely bizarre, not nice at all- which is strange as last time it was delicious! Chicken tikka and naans were lovely! Shame about the butter chicken

I visited India Gate Restaurant on 28th January at 8:00 pm, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The service was subpar, and the manager displayed an unacceptable level of arrogance. This significantly impacted my overall enjoyment of the evening. I expected better from a restaurant of this caliber, and I hope the management takes steps to improve the service quality.

Went here after going to other Indians too often, went in, ordered my regular meal and a beer with friends. Fantastic food, very well presented and the entire place was top notch. Will be returning here ASAP.

So with the weather being cold and windy, the perfect comfort food was a curry. Whilst the food was good , the service could definitely do with some improvement we were left for long periods without attendance. Also after our drinks were finished no one came to check if we wanted another round.

Whilst the delivery was early, the food was cold and not up to its usual standard, madras was more like a korma, and not a bit spicy, and chicken was very dry, Punjabi masala chicken was also dry

Very small portion of Bombay Aloo for £7.95. Curry was very thin. Paneer was mostly batter with a small cube of cheese inside. For the price I would have expected better quality all around.

Spent ages wandering around town working up an appetite trying to find somewhere to eat, and this place solved the problem beautifully. Spot on staff, food, speed and again food!

I rang to complain that 2 of the orders were missing lamb. I was told there would be a lamb tikka delivered and I had to ring again twice . My order was first placed just after 6pm and its just arrived.... a container with 2 tiny pieces of lamb !!! I'm totally appalled with India !

45 pound for two curries, mix veg starter and a naan. It was delicious but was bad value as there was very little meat in the dishes and the portion size was quite small. Even with the extra sides I was still hungry.

Very disappointing meal, the starter was poor, meat was dry and the bhaji overcooked and greasy. The curry sauce for the main meal was very bland with way too much salt and the rice was inedible. At over £30 per person it’s a bit of a joke.

Perfect people and perfect food! The best Indian food ever! I ordered food from India Gate 3 times already. The food is always fresh, extremely delicious and hot. Delivery Guys are always very polite and friendly. I’m definitely going to order more from this Restaurant. Thank you very much!

Had a meal here last week. Have to say food was delicious. Only lossed a star because I thought I could of got slightly bigger portions. I think there wasn't enough sause with my curry. Don't get me wrong it wasn't small portions but when you go out for a meal you want to come out feeling full. Lovely food though. Will definitely be back.

We dined in the restaurant, my husband, son and I. We ordered a chicken biryani, chicken Korma and tandoori chicken, and garlic naans. We tried eachothers food and everything was absolutely delicious. It was fairly busy too. I would definitely recommend. If we ever take a trip to Belfast again we're going back to India Gate.

Disappointed with this restaurant. Had to order a starter afternoon my main meal as the portion was tiny. Full of peppers and sauce. Looked at the menu before I went over and thought for £20 it should be a decent size. No! Taste was descent however I expected more than just sauce. Also, hovering with the card machine when I had just finished is not very comforting.

My hubby & I ate here last night again. Third time in a few months and we were not disappointed. Safe to say, this is niw our favourite Indian Restaurant to dine in when in Belfast and we have tried most of them. Food and service exceptional with very friendly welcoming staff. Atmosphere is friendly and relaxed. We had the mixed shared platter to start, which was a meal in itself and really delicious. For main course we had a Chicken Jalfrezi and a Chicken Balti with Pilau Rice and Garlic Naan 🤤😋 Highly recommended!

Never ever get bad food from here. Although I will say please make sure your drivers have change for their customers though.

Food was ok, quantity not as expected. They were laughing, discussing things when asked for a student discount and then asked payment in cash for student discount otherwise pay in full by card which doesn't make sense at all.

I visited India Gate restaurant with my wife a couple of weeks ago while on vacation. We received good service the first day, so the next day we returned for dinner. Unfortunately, the staff were very rude and started to make fun of us by laughing among themselves as we ordered only starters and not the main course, but we ordered food for more than 30 pounds according to their instructions. On request, the staff refused to serve tap water, saying it was not drinkable. This was a bad experience for us during our trip to Ireland.

I have rated this restaurant before and even though I have only been twice, it’s still my best Indian in Belfast. As I write this, I’m sat in a bar and heading over there for dinner shortly. I work in Belfast occasionally visiting from Hampshire in England and I eat a lot of Indian food when travelling. This restaurant can’t be faulted for the food. It is excellent and will always be my Indian of choice in Belfast. It’s not the most central, but in my opinion it is the best.

Went to have a cup of tea or Indian Chai and disappointed when they said that each of us have to eat something for at least 15£ to have a Chai. Left the place sadly after walking for few miles in search of this hotel.

First time ordering won't be the last. Very nice food and decent portions 10/10

Excellent food. Very delicious and sizable portions. You definitely won't go hungry. We got the mixed starter for two and they were especially good at seperating the vegetables from the meat options which is great as my girlfriend is a vegetarian.

This was playing on my mind of a whlie now Where do I start staff are clueless to seat you down and all Indians give out free papadoms not this one man said £4 when ask do they do them and then order and food was absolutely bland and gave me pain in stomach and run in gut and staff laughing when eating it felt really uncomfortable its a clean place and beautiful restaurant but staff and food is not worth the visit this place does not have a hospitality of a Indian

I regret to share my deeply disheartening experience at India Gate Restaurant. My friends and I were excited to have dinner there, but our expectations were shattered by the appalling treatment we received. Upon arriving, we were shocked to encounter an unjust and disrespectful attitude from the restaurant staff. Not only were we denied entry without any valid reason, but we also noticed a clear distinction in the way they treated us as Indians and Irish individuals. This blatant racism left us not only embarrassed but also outraged. I urge fellow Indians and everyone to reconsider supporting such establishments that display such blatant disregard for their own people. Discrimination in any form is unacceptable and should not be tolerated. It's unfortunate that a place with the potential to showcase the rich culture and cuisine of India tarnishes its reputation by engaging in such discriminatory behavior. I hope that this review serves as a reminder to the management of India Gate Restaurant to reflect upon their actions and strive for a more inclusive and respectful environment for all patrons. Remember, every customer deserves to be treated with respect, regardless of their background.

Food was delicious. I ordered a chicken balti w/ pilau rice & garlic naan bread. Yum! My little one had some chicken and chips (and stole my popadom). Pretty satisfied.
