Went to il Paradiso for the first time on Tuesday .We had a fantastic time lovely welcoming friendly staff .The food was absolutely out of this world .well cooked and presented and delicious can’t wait to go back

We were recommended to go here on our way back from London. Great value, great authentic Italian food and atmosphere. The best Italian restaurant we've been to in the UK by far. We live 400 miles away but next time we're driving down to England we will stop locally again just for the evening meal!

Service was fantastic as was the food. We went in a bustling Saturday evening and had a great experience. The highlight for me was pasta with strip fillet steak, mushrooms and garlic. Absolutely superb. My wife had the diavlo pizza which was also amazing, the slice she allowed me to try. We will definitely be goi g back.

We went last night as we were being treated to dinner by our son who has been in the Falklands for 3 months with The Royal Navy. I have been before but my husband and son hadn't. The food was delicious. I had king prawns and risotto as a main and it was awesome. The service was also fabulous. The team are all so friendly and genuine. The young lady from Rome was lovely. I cannot reccomend this place enough.

Amazing family friendly local Italian. Quality is high and work the trip for it (I was luckily in the neighbourhood). Every dish was tasty - Calamari starter, Lobster ravioli and Steak is particular recommends.

The food is excellent, however, the venue is NOT covid safe. Too many tables packed into a very noisy converted barn, with no ventilation. We will not be visiting again.

Happened across this venue and asked on spec. if there was availablity. Thankfully they were very accommodating but there would be a short wait. Absolutely worth a 20 minute interlude before being seated, the food was amazing. The staff super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. Fantastic value, loved it. Worthy of six stars!

Stopped for an evening meal after a day out walking and we weren't disppointed. There was a pleasant atmosphere and good ambience. Extensive specials board with lots of choice and some different options to complement the more usual favourites, which are also available on the menu. Food was excellent, service was a little slow but understandably so as it was busy. Food arrived hot and was delicious. Unfortunately had to have my 3rd choice of dessert as the other two i'd ordered were sold out, but I wasn't disappointed. Particularly enjoyed the house red wine!

Stopped by on a drive into York, on the way south Amazing find, if it wasn't 4.5 hours from home, of be back with friends and family. Highly recommended. My daughter had super freshly cooked pizza, perfect. I had Porchetta, fantastic and tasty, crispy skin and a hearty meal at the same time. Great Italian atmosphere and warm lamps inside their outdoor space.

Absolutely disgusting!!! Eat here last night for a birthday meal and the food was shocking, so disappointed after eating at the Walmgate restaurant, I don't know if the owner and chef have changed but he needs to read these latest reveiws and find out whats gone wrong!!!! The garlic bread was hard and tasteless, the seafood was cheap and frozen and the steak if you can call it that was over cooked and chewy and no vegtables, flies all over the food!!!! I was so looking forward to trying this place definitely wasn't worth it.

Our second visit to the restaurant, was very disappointing compared to our first. When the complementary bread and balsamic oil were better than the starters, somethings wrong. This time we ordered starters that were not very appealing to look at and rather poor, first of all they brought the wrong platter out. Then when they brought out the meat, salad and cheese platter the salad was old and limp. With a small slice of cheese. The bruschetta was three tiny slices about 3 inches topped with tomato, more what you’d expect to be a complementary offering. They were also busier this time and we weren’t asked how the starters were. The main courses were average, and when we ordered more drinks afterwards we were not offered to see the desserts menu. Overall a very poor experience.

Friendly attentive staff. Good covid practices but let down a little bit by reusing menus instead of disposable. Food was beautiful. Will return when in the area.

Ate here twice on a recent holiday to Yorkshire. Food was wonderful on both occasions and staff were really attentive to the table, accommodating and friendly. The atmosphere was good and we felt very welcome. Dishes I tried that were really excellent: - Mussels and clams in tomato wine & chili sauce - Antipasti - Calzone pizza - Tiramisu Really lovely place, highly recommended.

Absolutely no regard for Covid regulations at this restaurant. Service poor, food average, seafood tasted & looked like it has been frozen, despite saying fresh, sauces either too salty or pure garlic. Give it a miss. Spent most of the meal trying to swat a fly, "manager" just laughed when he saw it.

Exceptional food, every time. This is by far our favourite restaurant for wonderful food. We had the beef fillet and porcini pasta and the monk fish. They were absolutely superb. Fantastic service, but the food is amazing. Would 100% recommend.

I've been here several times over the past 18 months and both the food and ambience are consistently good. the service is friendly, relaxed and fun. At the weekends the room is usually well filled with couples and larger family parties and Birthday celebrations are popular. The greeting on arrival is always friendly and welcoming as you're shown to your table so you feel relaxed straight away. There is a board with a list of special starters mains and puddings and also a good a la carte menu to choose from. The quality of the food is first class and the standard never seems to vary.The restaurant is open every evening but lunch is only available at weekends

Lovely food enjoyed it very much

Moving house can be stressful so we decided to take a night off and look for some protein. We happened upon Il Paradiso on their Wednesday steak special night. Bingo. We shared a perfectly cooked rare sirloin presented sliced with rosemary potatoes, wine jus and ratatouille. The giveaway price of £30 included 2 large glasses for splendid house red wine. An absolute treat.

We had our first meal here on Valentine’s Day and were so pleased with our choice. The food was delicious, very authentic and the service was wonderful. I think everything there was Italian, even the drinks. Could not recommend enough.

We were a large group of 18. Service was 2nd to none. No longer waits and waiters checked on us regularly. Wonderful food. The fish dishes and prawns looked amazing. I couldn’t resist the pizza. It was absolutely delicious. Reasonable prices. Would recommend!!

Really nice little Italian restaurant about 15mins drive from the outskirts of York. Owned by genuine Italians and it shows in the quality of the meals that they produce here. Highly reccomended.

Had a lovely family evening. The restaurant is quite a large echoey room but nice to get 11 of us together. The service seemed slow initially. We started with some lovely garlic bread with tomato to share , bread with olive oil and balsamic. The draught Italian beer was good .My daughter had the seafood risotto, mum the Giant Langoustines with rice containing chilli rocket sat on a thin pancake. My brother had the steak which melted in the mouth. The pizzas and pasta dishes were lovely. I had Italian sausage tortellini in a brandy cream sauce with rocket and shavings of Parmesan. My son had the Prawn and Asparagus pizza whilst his girlfriend opted for a Calzone at her request filled with mushrooms and pepperoni accompanied by a tomato sauce which she enjoyed so much the manager got her some more tomato sauce. A variety of puddings from choc fudge cake with ice cream, homemade Amaretto and chocolate cheesecake, traditional tiramisu and a limoncello tiramisu. Our waitress was from Rome. Clean plates all round alongside a lovely unrushed family evening, of good food a few drinks and catch up.We will definitely be returning, easy to access , great food.Thank you for a enjoyable evening.

Il Paradiso on the Forest is worth the short drive out of town for a truly authentic Italian meal. My clams & mussels starter was excellent with just the right amount of chilli warmth running through it. Two of us had pasta specials off the board and the other two had the porcetta, all four meals were cooked to perfection. Three managed to squeeze in a dessert, I just requested a spoon to help my husband with his dessert! Had a very good bottle of Nero D’avola to accompany the meal. Booked to go back with friends before we left.
