The best Italian around. Great value at lunchtime.

Had a lovely meal for hubbys birthday, EXTREMELY disgusted with the treatment of the wait staff from their employers!! Over heard the belittling for absolute no reason later on found out that they personally do not keep tips, which we later on found out from the lovely wait staff that they get a certain amount of tips from how well they have worked that month. Not evenly distributed on hours or what they have earned personally. Do not think we will be returning which is shame as food is normally amazing! Do better.

Visited this beautiful authentic Italian restaurant for my 30th birthday meal. Delicious food and quality beverages, very clean facilities and friendly staff. The only downfall thing was that we were automatically charged for our food service without being told. I shall not be coming here often.

What great place. We received a warm welcome. The service is very good and the food came quickly. It was packed for a Tuesday night. We will be returning.

I, wrongly was dubious about going to an Italian restaurant for an English roast. I went with my mother and we both had roast belly pork. I have to say it was one of the best roasts I've had! Beautifully presented, lots of accompanying dishes that came with it. Service was very good, the food came out promptly and the waiters/waitresses were really lovely and welcoming. Reasonably priced too. I'd definitely go again.

I love these guys in this resturant, I'm a regular here and they treat every individual so nicely and love to take the time to chat to you. On top of this their food is great quality and greatly priced. Highly reccommend !! :)

First visit and extremely impressed, staff were excellent, friendly and great service. My mums 80th birthday they brought out her cake and the whole restaurant sang, made it special for her. Food was great, fillet steak one of the best ever had. Will recommend and return again.

Food was great, good options for my friend who is a celiac. Service was bare minimum and felt very hands off. It wasn’t rude per say but our servers made no effort to build repport or ask questions (it was my birthday) It just felt a bit like they didn’t really care if we were there or not. Just served us food, we paid and left

Great, jovial place to have dinner. Whether it was the Christmas excitement but all the staff were really buzzing which made for a fantastic atmosphere. Food was the best Italian that I've tasted in the area too!

We had a great welcome and a wonderful meal. The thoughtful position of our table meant the pram was beside us and readily accessible, without impacting other diners. We had a great evening thank you x

Went today for the first time to II Gusto with a friend. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch on their any Pasta or Pizza for £8.95. We both had Cannelloni, which was delicious and we were very pleased with the portion size. We definitely have found our place to go for lunch when we next return to Chipping Sodbury or Yate in future.

Great customer service but the food has changed the last few years. I go back in the hope it might have returned to it's previous standard but alas the quality has not returned. You get plenty of food but most pasta dishes offer no contrast in taste/colour/texture. e.g A bowl of pasta has no colour from maybe some green peas/or green veg. You get a 'BEIGE' bowl of pasta that tastes the same all the way through with no flavour/texture contrast. The Risotto has become bland and boring. It's like the dishes has been reduced in quality. I maybe go one/twice per year now instead of once a month like I used too. Gone from great to average. Sorry, but that's my experience.

We had a great dinner here. The food was excellent, the bruschetta starter in particular was delicious as well as the seafood risotto. The restaurant had a friendly and welcoming ambience to it enhanced by the attentive staff. Fantastic experience, no hesitation to recommend and to return soon!

My wife and I took her sister here for a meal. She had eaten here before and was fondly greeted by the staff. The waiters were attentive without being over-friendly and all three of us enjoyed our meals. Recommended. We will certainly return.

Generous portions and good atmosphere. I had seafood linguini which was ok but lacking a little flavour (more garlic and onion). It was good as a quick meal in passing.

Went there for my wife and our children last Sunday and we all loved it. The lunch menu looked adapted to the British expectations of a nice roast dinner and have smaller choices for pasta and pizzas, the kids menu have a lot of options as well. We went for pasta and risotto and the portions were good size, didn't take too long to have them served and the waitress were all the time very kind and thoughtful.

Best Italian food we've found here in England!

Whilst visiting Chipping Sodbury on Sunday 24th September 2024, my wife and I decided to find a restaurant that was open post 4pm and came across the IL Gusto. The front of the restaurant in our opinion needs sprucing up to make it more welcoming. In contrast, the interior of the restaurant was clean and well decorated. We had a good welcome and then shown to our table. Sunday Menus with limited selection were presented however; the restaurant were accommodating in letting us select dishes from the main menu. Our orders were taken in good time and our drinks arrived very shortly after. The house Montepulciano was very drinkable wine that packed a big punch. In our opinion, our starter, which was Garlic Pizza Bread with Tomato Sauce took some time to arrive. When it arrived, presentation was disappointing with odd dollops of Tomato Sauce that lacked flavour and mildly garlicky but on the positive side, the Pizza Base was very good. Best part our meal was my wife’s Sunday Roast Chicken with all trimmings. Roast Chicken was moist and succulent with lots and lots of gravy. There were variety of well cooked Vegetables with good sized portions. In contrast, my Penne Arrabbiata was a big disappointment. Pasta was cooked well but the Arrabbiata Sauce lacked depth and flavour. I was expecting punchy chillis, garlic, herbs and seasoning but what I got was watery Tomato Sauce with some Onions. Thank goodness that I had kept the Chilli Oil and together with condiments on the table but some flavour in the sauce. My dessert, Banoffee Pie was by far my favourite dish. It was tasty, rich and full of flavour. Truly delicious and well worth a second visit just for the dessert.

We called in whilst travelling and had a nice plate of pasta. The staff squeezed us into what is obviously a popular restaurant. Proper Italian food and staff. Molto bene!

Wow!! What a wonderful place, from start to finish the evening was beautiful! Staff were welcoming , friendly and very attentive. Food was amazing!! Can't fault this place and would recommend this to everyone!

I have been here many times over the years and the food is always fantastic. The staff are helpful and friendly. I have 0 complaints. My personal favourite, the lasagne!

Good ambiance and friendly service. Food just ok. 2 of our party had dishes that were described as with chilli and they were very under spiced. The lasagna was alright, but suspect it was pre prepared and warmed through as the pasta was a bit stodgy . Not the best Italian food I’ve had, but certainly not the worst.

Went for an evening out with friends. Arrived on time and were eventually seated. Order was taken for drinks after approx 45 mins!! Drinks arrived 30 mins later. To cut a long story short very slow service, incorrect orders being taken which could have been a medical emergency as my partner was allergic to chillies receiving a chillie meal!! Then to add insult to injury they added a service charge to the bill! Which we had removed. Staff up to provide a service if you wish to charge for it.

Terrible main course, no flavour....won't visit again !

We booked a table for 8 pm for 6 We didn't get seated till 830. So we were standing in a queue opposite the bar,which was a bit odd We didn't get our meal till well after 9 The staff were lovely and the meals were nice, not sure I'd be in a rush to go back

Awful service. We had to ask to order drinks, ask to order food, then my pizza was wrong, and then nobody was around so we went up and paid at the till. We were asked how everything was - we said the service wasn’t good. The response was full of attitude “well we can’t please everyone, we are busy, I don’t have wings.” We won’t be going back!

Absolutely stunning food and service - if we only lived in the area we would struggle to not eat here every week! The food was so delicious, big portions and very filling. The service was fantastic also! Amazing find!

we havent been in here for a while having eaten in here many times before, i will say it doesnt change, the service as usual was excellent , & the meals we had were great, the pork belly meal is sublime !! this place is good value for money & the standard is always the same which in this day and age is very hard to get as most places you have a good meal go back again & its crap ! but not in here, if you havent been in here its WELL WORTH A TRY !!

My Partner’s birthday dinner was celebrated here. We have been promising ourselves a visit here for ages, but had failed miserably to get our act-together and reserve a table. We arrived 20 minutes early, the weather curtailed our pre-dinner stroll; it was just too warm to walk far. We guessed our early arrival wouldn’t matter much, and it didn’t; we were promptly shown to our table. This was in the busy main dining area located at the back of the restaurant. We passed a couple of dining rooms on our way from the entrance to the mid-located bar; tables in these rooms were mostly set out for larger parties. We studied what was a quite comprehensive menu with plates that you would expect at an Italian restaurant. My Partner chose to start with a ‘Flat Garlic Pizza’ (no cheese) which was quite plain. The menu promised herbs; but if there were any then they were well hidden. The pizza was also quite dry, and it didn’t look as though it had much garlic butter added (as specified on the menu), but maybe the garlic butter and herbs were cooked-in? The texture was great; thin and crispy and it complemented the wine. I had ordered the house (Trebbiano), bought by the glass as I was driving. Trebbiano is a lovely wine, but I would score this one as average, there was a slightly brawny / woody taste; not unpleasant but not exactly to our liking. If either of us were to have this starter again we would order another starter that complements; like the mushrooms or smoked salmon or prawns, or even the soup to share between us. I had however chosen the ‘Mozzarella Carrozza’ (deep fried breadcrumbed Mozzarella). This was also a bit dry, but at least I had a salad garnish. We did share both plates and what we had was of good quality. Mains: for my Partner ‘Pollo Genovese’ which was very much enjoyed and was served as a generous portion. I love spinach, but not when it is well or over cooked; the texture is too slimy for me. If we cook spinach we show it the steamer just enough to soften the leaves. The, probably frozen, chips were undercooked, and were a bit hard and cool. My choice of main was pasta based; the ‘Orecchiette Meatballs’. Orecchiette pasta cooked with homemade meatballs, red wine and tomato sauce. This was very good, particularly the excellent meatballs that tasted wonderfully meaty and were moist and not too firm. The generous portion of then indented disk shaped pasta was too much for me, the tomato sauce certainly adhered to this pasta but it lacked a tang. In homemade tomato sauce at home I add white wine vinegar, Worcestershire Sauce and include Fennel seeds, and sometimes, some finely chopped red chillies. For dessert I had the ‘Chocolate Souffle’ with Ice cream and chocolate sauce. I have to say it was excellent and it rounded off my meal perfectly. My Partner was too full for dessert. Service was excellent and friendly and the ambience was warm and convivial. All things considered we will look to visit again to try different plates on the menu and a different wine. Problem is that it’s too far to walk here from home and taxi’s add significantly to the cost.

Staff were pleasant and the pizza was made quickly but really it was very disappointing and like an average supermarket pizza warmed up. It has none of the magic of a real Italian Pizza made in a clay oven with good dough and fresh ingredients.

The place itself is nice and the staff was prosffesonal, however, the food was just average unfortunately. The pizzas waht we gat were very dry and a bit overbaked...

Hit and miss. Takeaway cannelloni and pasta carbonara was good, but the seafood risotto wasn’t up to the expectation - rice was a bit dry and seafood overcooked. The side garlic bread was the biggest disappointment, chewy and dry, as if it was baked the day before and reheated

We were very badly let down (a family group of 7) by a high street pub which failed to respect our reservation. Gusto managed to serve us late in the afternoon to save a difficult situation. Both food and service were excellent. We were grateful and look forward to returning.

Not great value for what you pay. £5.72 for a glass of beer!! They also don’t advertise the 10% charge until you get the bill.

It was great to get back to Il Gusto after such a long time. The food & service was even better than I remember.

It was very busy and really loud music which made it difficult to chat. We had to wait 90 mins for our pizzas to arrive. Staff were very friendly and pizzas were good.

Buzzing atmosphere on a Tuesday evening, all 5 of us enjoyed our meals, all different. Our 19 year old son, whose birthday we were celebrating particularly loved the profiteroles.
