Ideal Fish Bar in Harrow

Have been going here for years. With previous owners the food was top notch. Excellent battered sausages and fish. The new owners have no idea how to make battered sausages and fish; the batter is overcooked and burnt, the fish (and pie) are not heated through properly - could have easily got food poisoning. My advice to new owners is that this is not the profession for them. Will be taking my business elsewhere to people who know how to make proper British fish and chips. A tradional happy "Friday fish and chips" day has been ruined by these new owners. On a positive note, the curry sauce was heated properly in the microwave. Note that all the five star reviews have been for the old owners who built up their reputation. Thank You

Best fish and chips shop ever! They fried the fish in separate oil for me to make it halal, super friendly and accommodating. Couldn’t recommend them more!

Brilliant fish and chips. For non fish eater go for chips. It is fresh cooked with hit of fish which is common to other chip shop. Service is great and menu reasonably priced. I drive long way just to havre chips.

Ideal Fish Bar is now my favourite place to go for Fish and Chips! Yesterday I had the lunchtime special which had a very generous portion size, the price was incredibly reasonable and both the fish and the chips were delicious. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be coming back! Thank you :)

My partner and I had quite a few fish and chips options to choose from on UE, but I'm really glad we picked this one because it was great. I thought "£13 for one cod - this is why I don't bother with chippies most of the time" but it was impressively big (we had to fold them in half to fit them on large plates) and good quality, the large portion of chips was lovely (tender flesh and not dry like some chippies) and comfortably fed both of us, and the sausage in batter was so tasty. The curry sauce was standard. Delivery took an hour but it was a Friday night, so that's to be expected, and it arrived hot. We'll definitely order from here again.

I had the best fish and chips ever at this place! I even invited a friend to join me, and he loved it even more than I did. The portions were generous, and the fries tasted amazing. The cod was cooked to perfection, you know the food here is made with love. I will definitely be coming back for more!

Ridiculous that this place is closed on Sundays & Mondays😂

I've never had anything go wrong with this place. But today I ordered for pick up through Uber eats. Ordered about 4 45-5 o'clock for a 6 o'clock pick up. Once there took me half an hour to be seen and they let the driver behind me cut the queue and served him before me. Once it was my turn they said that they don't have my order and I have to reorder to get my food. Which would've been another half hour to an hour wait. They wouldn't make my food there and then even me showing I have paid for the food.

Amazing cod and chips huge portions great quality

It was my mother in laws 90th birthday yesterday. We asked her what she wanted for a celebratory meal and she replied 'fish and chips'! The family came over and we ordered our lunch from Ideal Fish Bar in Pinner. The service was friendly, the food was terrific and this lovely old lady, who's lived in the same house in Pinner for almost 70 years, wore a beaming smile. Thanks to everyone at Ideal Fish bar for being an important part of Hilary's big day.

My daughter will not eat chips from anywhere else and I live in N14! So we go to Pinner park and will have the chips as well.

This is the best chip shop in Pinner. They have chicken nuggets made with real pieces of chicken. Their fish is tasty, and their chips are scrumptious. Portion sizes are generous, too. All served with a smile. Highly recommend buying your fish and chips here.

Lovely food here, the lunch time special and in the evening too when i can come. Lovely staff and friendly too.

After spending 20 minutes waiting for the phone to be answered (re-dialling), met with a "can't take phone order , too busy, 10 people waiting come down and wait!" Gave up and went elsewhere (Fletchers).

Quality food and fantastic service. They have always fulfilled all my expectations and the value of price is great considering the portion they give you.

It used to be a great fried fish eating place now they have eliminated the dine in facility as well as the large haddock size has been reduced and price increased too.

Got a phone call came up as this shop and number person said he was from car phone warehouse tried to sell me phones haha dont think so

First time trying their fish & chips and definitely the last. I thought I would try them based on reviews. Haddock was nice but portion of scampi were basic and were not enjoyed by someone who loves scampi. Portion of chips were a small, measly amount, especially as EVERY OTHER ESTABLISHMENT are always generous with their portions except this establishment. Not impressed but then. I was warned by someone who suggested I try Sea Pebbles in Hatch End as this person has been a customer for over 20 years but since trying Sea Pebbles he said the food is fresh and delicious in comparison to Ideal Fish Bar. He warned me that I would not be happy with my experience. He was correct in saying so. I wished I met this ex customer before placing my order as unfortunately I met him during my 15/20 minute wait for my order :-( Sea Pebbles it is! Never again with their miser mentality, shocking to say the least!

My local fish and chip shop for years as one of the more common customers. Prices over food (fish especially) have increased over inflation yet it's definitely worth the wait/value. As of July 2021, their chips are made with a new potato, and I highly advise you to try them, even just for that. They a more fluffy (on the inside) and quite crispy on the outside. Their lunchtime special is served everyday and consists of small fish (2) and chips, definitely worth the value - lunchtime ques are very short. Price of haddock has remained higher (beyond August 2020) due to shorter supply (always) and expense. [Don't let inflation stop you from coming here!] Staff are always kind and welcoming, and quickly know you if your a local/common visitor. It's all part of the community.

Response to the last review - any loyal customer of Ideal Fish Bar should know to expect long queues on Friday and Saturday ( as any successful fish and chip shop would ) Food here is outstanding and good things in life are worth waiting for.

ABYSMAL customer service, don't bother calling this place up they shall tell you to come and queue like everyone else as if you're some sort of impatient rebel to the fish and chip culture. I've lived in Pinner all my life and my family have used this fish and chip shop for years. I now know that you're better off going the extra 5 minutes to Sea Pebbles in Hatch End or to call up and get delivery from Ruislip /Ickenham.

Just want to say a massive thank you for the best haddock n chips...we usually cue up but decided to go for a deliveroo order instead this time which I wasnr too sure as I usually go to the shop n wait but hey all we can say is...wow n amazing!!¡! delivered crispy and fresh the chips were also amazing fresh clean to taste well done guys you definitely keep the top quality and standards on site or delivery. So always heard good things about the this chip shop,finally decided to give it a go only to find the staff rude especially the woman totally unfriendly couldn’t even be bothered to put a smile on her face but putting that aside I went for the food the sausages was burnt fish soggy and £4.30 for large chips which was so small,should have just walked out after the reception from the staff.

I have finally got round to writing a review for this fabulous fish and chips shop, which I have visited for many years ! Located in the heart of Pinner, this venue is spotlessly clean. The welcome you get is first class - always friendly, courteous and professional - with a smile. The food tastes lovely - freshly prepared fish and chips as you wait. Their menu is extensive. For the quality and portions you are served, the prices are very reasonable. You can tell this place is popular by the queues you see outside and the familiarity of staff with customers inside. A big shout out to the brilliant team of Alex, Omar, Cemal and Anthony. This venue's COVID19 signage and protective measures are firmly in place - nevertheless, this team has bravely put themselves on the front line to serve the local community during this two year long pandemic. I strongly recommend a visit here.

This place is absolutely fantastic. Its the best fish and chips I’ve ever had and I compare all other fish and chips to theirs. It’s always busy with a queue. The batter is crispy and the chips are cooked to perfection. I love it!!

this restaurant has always been one of my top 3 fish and chip shops in that area, well worth a visit. friendly staff. fantastic food at a fair price. parking is ok out the front but can get busy. ignore the one star review that muppet left because they dared to take a holiday and close the restaurant for a few days. that is so petty.

Well know locally as the best chippy in the area. Although it's been open for a very long time, it hasn't become "tried". There's much wailing and gnashing of teeth when they're closed for their (well earned) summer holiday.

Massive portions and lovely fish

Always a queue because the public know a good chippy . This is my favourite fish and chip takeaway because the quality of the fish is superb and the portions are generous and worth the wait. I drive from 15 mins away and pass three other chippy’s to get my Friday nite family feast rations . Haddock is superb and Rock is meaty and delicious. The cod is full on ginormous whale size 🐳 and splendid! The batter is perfection.The saveloys, peas, curry sauce , pickles make this a dining heaven. Wish this way by the seaside as I’d eat here everyday! Plus the banter from the gentleman behind the counter is fantastic. Highly recommend and addictive. Forget diets this is truly how to enjoy food of the gods .

This place does *really* good fish and chips. So good that it was straight away my daughter's first choice for her birthday meal. And so good that I was happy to make the 6 mile round trip by bike. However, it was not to be. I don't begrudge anyone a summer holiday - especially as I've seen how hard the staff here work. But, guys, if you're going to close for the summer, and you're going to tell people "Follow us on Google", then just take 5 minutes to update your opening hours on Google before you shut up shop. Or even after. Now I have hungry and disappointed children and grandparents, all of whom will now be having a birthday meal of pasta and sauce from a jar, because that's all there's time to make. So yes, this is a protest review of sorts. Any other time, five stars, no question. But tonight, my whole family and I feel really let down.

This is the best fish and chips shop I have ever found. The fish is delicious and always crispy and the chips are really good. Me and my friends eat here regularly and not even a single time we had a bad experience. The prices are a bit high compared to other local fish and chips but it is fine for what we get.

Very very taste/very guud /so quick/so warm.happy Only one thing i'l be like to say we've got some code (delicios) whit large chips(a big size portion )enough for at least 3person ...2 sausages👍👍and .. 1 portion of calamari.here its my problem.cost £9+ and they are from frizzer.they are a lot..10 at least ...when i see the fresh fish i beleive the camari will be fresh to.£9+ for frezzer things its not so nice.maybe you can change them.less but fresh.

Huge mark up on prices for delivery via Uber eats. A £23 meal cost £34 ! They added £4 to each piece of fish and £1 added to price of chips. Plus a service charge of £2.50 and a delivery charge of 79p so the Uber person gets very little of that huge price!

Wow! Just... wow! I don’t know what I was expecting, but surely not this. My boyfriend and I were hungry and in a mood for some fish and chips. We found this place and decided to order. To be honest I thought that it’s a bit pricey, but the reviews were too good. We went for the cod in traditional batter and large chips, two portions each. It took less than an hour for the food to arrive which I don’t think it’s too long time, like other reviews say. The food came packed in paper and in a paper bag, which was already a plus - less plastic waste. Now let me tell you, these portions are enormous. Two of each are enough for 4 persons to share, me and my boyfriend we barely managed to eat half of the food before giving up. It was delicious of course and the potatoes tasted so good. Trust me, it’s worth all the money and we will definitely order again, just maybe one of each and some calamari rings which I bet are tasty too. I think I wowed at least 20 times that’s how impressed I was. :-)

The fish was huge!! but the wait is too long and its pretty expensive.I can walk into Fletchers in Pinner Green, be the only person in there, get out in 5 mins and pay a lot less, and not notice the difference in the qaulity

Just poor. Used to be one of the best - now just rubbish. You can be standing outside and they will make you queue for hours so they can serve their ‘uber’ customers and when you ask how long it may take they were rude ‘you can order on uber too’ was the response to thw young chap that asked nicely. Then some codswallop about only 4 people allowed in at one time but whilst standing in the queue they had at least 4 Uber drivers inside. Completely ignorant and the way they spoke to the customer i was shocked.

Sorry used to love this place still do a wee bit but the standard of the food and the service has gone down. Not for the first time I received another dry fish tonight. It seems that the extra money through Uber is outweighing what used to be really good food and service. Sort it out Ideal Fish Bar you are beginning to get a negative reputation. Its true!!

Great chips, I live local to the area and the costomers are regulars and very loyal. I've been in Pinner for 2 years and there chips have improved greatly. Not sure if they have changed the potato or oil. But they are golden & crispy. Before they were a little under cooked. Battered sausage, fish, curry sauce & mushy peas are all delicious. It's worth the queue 👍 highly recommend.

Best fish and chips in Harrow. Family run. Friday evening long queues. Because of lockdown, we queued for an hour and fifteen minutes outside the shop. We should have ordered through Uber eats. The quality of the fish and chips is excellent as ever.

I love this place, not only is the fish sublime and plentiful the food in general is of high quality. As a bonus the staff are great and friendly. I go here for a treat to myself once in a while. My go to is of course fish and chips. thanks so much for the great service.

Still my favourite chip shop in the area. Actual meat sausages rather than standard chip shop sausage. Friendly staff and whilst we had to wait for a while (C19 restrictions on numbers inside) it is always well worth it.

Ordered by phone plaice and chips and went 15 minutes later to collect them. In accordance with social distancing I waited outside until my order was ready. The service is very good, the quality of the fish is excellent and the food delicious. We would never go anywhere else for our fish and chips
