Great service, friendly staff, and great selection on menu.

This place is GREAT. Me and my friend went for lunch at the ground floor take away area and my first impression was that this place was clean. Once we were seated we ordered 2 twelve peice sushi platters, 1 six peice fried prawn sushi, 4 pieces of prawn tempura and 2 bottles of mogu mogu. For only £39.00. The staff are great and they brought me and my friends food in 10 minutes. Personally I think this place is great and would definitely come again and suggest to friends.

I've been an ichiban customer for years but my last experience was less than good. The restaurant messed up our orders twice, forgot one of the meals that came delayed and demanded that we pay the "optional" service charge that had automatically been added to our bill despite the bad service. Disappointed, and would not recommend anymore.

The worst sushi restaurant I have been to. The rice in the sushi wasn't tasty at all. It was like eating plain rice. You cannot combine the sushi, you can only order like 6 pieces of maki cucumber, and so on. Not very big choice of sushi either. It was very cold in the restaurant even they had the big heating behind us but never turned it on. The sushi in Lidl is more delicious than in this restaurant.

Good spot for luch or dinner. Nice service and tasty food. Place is clean and very comfortable to it in. Place offers dine-in, as well as take out. I'd call this place a 'quick lunch spot' or a japanese cuisine 'fast food'. The time between placing an order to recieving our dish was quite impressive (around 7minutes for 3 dishes, coming blazing hot). I had to notice that even tho it was tasty and portions were big, it lacked high quality ingredients. It was just a good quality products well balanced with each other. I was bit sad that place didn't offer any japanese sodas, but that doesn't matter that much. I liked Sapporo bear a lot - 600ml of cool beer is awsome. I reccomend booking a spot, since the place gets quite busy in a lunch / dinner hours. In general - tasty food, nice service and cool interior. Prices relevant to both portions and quality My choices were: Sliced Beef Udon, Ichiban Yakisoba, Sake Maki, as well as Sapporo and Lemonade to drink. Paid around 40£

Arrived on a very busy lunchtime but managed to get a seat. They have a great lunch set menu with good options. Food was quick to be served and very tasty. Staff helpful and friendly. I would recommend to book in advance.

Great food at a very reasonable price, all served in a stylish and modern building by lovely staff. I've had a few items off their menu, but my recommendation has to go to the gyūdon (it is to die for). Don't sleep on their ice cream, either (yuzu is my favourite, but they're all good). Service is fast, to boot. Highly recommend to anyone looking for good Japanese food in Glasgow.

I came as a solo traveller and absolutely loved all about this restaurant! They were very accomodating for a single person like me and i got an awsome seat at the window fro. Where I was able to observe the buzzing live on the street. I am no expert in Japanese food but the ichiban-Ramen I ordered was delicious! Service was flawless and it is obvious that this is a well loved place judging from the constant stream of new customers that turned up! (If you don't want to wait it might be smart to book a table in advance)

First time at Ichiban, and definitely not the last. Had a lovely time, in a great atmosphere with really friendly and fast service. Highly recommend the bento boxes 🍱 i think i have discovered a new favourite place!

Nice place with an atmosphere. The service was prompt and efficient. I ordered a chilly egg fried rice with salmon. The salmon was nice but the portion was not too big. The taste and the appearance didn't seem Japanese. Probably needed to try something more classic.

Good food, Good ambience and history ramen in Glassgow

Wonderful authentic Japanese restaurant! Recommend booking as the long tables fill up quickly. Everything I had here tasted fantastic and the tempura is the best in town! Next time I must have the sushi, there was so much choice and I've heard it's good here. They have a fantastic selection of drinks, you can get proper sake 🍶 here and Japanese plum wine (really recommend if you haven't had before).

Beautiful food and drinks with a really good choice menu. The service is very fast and the staff are very friendly and helpful with explaining the different dishes and drinks . overall the place has a very relaxed style , it's very open and spacious with trendy benches. We also love that it's an open kitchen so you can see exactly what's going on with your food and prepositions. An amazing place to dine . Delicious food 💯💥😋

This place is an absolute hidden gem in Glasgow's city centre. Easy to miss the single doorway on Queen street. Look for the 'i' sign. Just a lovely informal place to be, relaxed atmosphere, friendly unobtrusive staff quietly serving some beautiful Japanese style dishes. Great flavours, textures and customisable options (perhaps slightly underseasoned). Seating on benches but plenty of space to enjoy a chilled beer and soak up the ambiance. Highly recommended.

The food taste is good and fresh, quite Japanese vibe atmosphere and friendly staffs.

I can't think of any words to describe how 'tedious' this restaurant is. It's not a Japanese cuisine restaurant, it's more like a mix of Chinese and Japanese dishes. But unfortunately, the chef seems do not have the capability to handle such 'innovative' cuisines. I've tried a large amount of Japanese food before, however I was still at a loss for words when the waiter asked me how I found the dishes tonight. As for the waitstaff, the service is another reason I wouldn't choose this restaurant. When my friend and I arrived, there were many empty seats in the restaurant, yet the staff directed us to a small seat by the window. And I was told the rest of the seats in the restaurant were all reserved, but many remained unused by the time we left. I won't be entering this restaurant again and will advise my friends to do the same. Unfortunately Glasgow doesn't have sufficient good Japanese restaurants, this place is certainly exacerbating this situation.

One of the best places to offer japanese cuisine. I love their katsu curry, chahans, yakisoba and gyozas. This is my go to place whenever im craving japanese food. Service is really good and staff is friendly too.

Excellent food and delivered incredibly fast, while also not feeling like you are being rushed. The atmosphere is relaxed and the perfect volume, the seating felt comfortable and something that works great as couples or groups. The staff were fantastic and always on hand, as well as being very knowledgeable about the menu. Thank you.

Visited here in 2018. Food was disgusting; it lacked the freshness I've come to expect from Japanese food (this stuff was "stale"). Also, I told the staff about my allergies and still got the very things I told them I could not have - luckily I noticed, so did not end up in a bad way medically.

Simple but very tasty food. Katsu was a cutlet over rice with sauce, felt like it could have used some veggies in with. Delicious, but was expecting a little more. Excellent service though.

Used to always head to Ichiba when in Glasgow but sorry I went back. My Chicken Rsmen Soup was really bland and the Salmon starter over cooked. However, my sis really enjoyed her gyuniku maki (beef rolls stuffed with mushroom). The service in Ichiban as alaways was great, with really attentive serving staff. However, on the whole I think there are much better restaurants in the town for a quick bite.

We popped in on a Sunday just out of curiosity and got some lunch. With both loved the soup noodle bowls, very tasty and comforting. The side order of Gyozas were a good idea too! The staff are nice and the place was very cosy and comfortable :)

Wouldn’t recommend for vegetarians. We ordered the yasai chilli and yasai chahan. The chilli was listed as coming with fried tofu but only arrived with the listed vegetables, and the sauce was underwhelming. The chahan was fine but not worth the price paid. Enjoyed the radish sushi but overall a lacklustre experience.

A bit disappointing. I ordered a tofu and chili rice bowl. Unfortunately I have a gluten allergy so I ordered it made gluten free as the menu specified was possible. Usually when major modifications have to be made to a dish to accommodate dietary preferences the waiter clears that with the customer but that didn’t happen here. What arrived, while good, was a very expensive bowl of rice with chili sauce, a handful of mushrooms, and a handful of snap peas. If the tofu had to be removed from the dish to accommodate my allergy that’s fine I just wish I was told when ordering as I would have picked something else. An £11 bowl of just rice and a bit of vegetable was really disappointing to receive.

Lovely relaxed atmosphere and great food! Had my favourite chicken katsu curry with egg fried rice. My lovely man had his first taste of Japanese food with beef curry- well cooked sirloin sliced. Had to have some yummy warm sake too!

Amazing, quick service, staff welcoming, ordered chicken ramen, which was a very generous bowl and the dumplings were superb! Very reasonable lunch time.deal of 12.95 I believe for both Can't wait to return

My favourite restaurant of all time - I've been eating here for years and never had a bad experience. I can't recommend everything on the menu enough! Reasonably priced, lovely staff, amazing food and great atmosphere. Thank you to the sweet waitress who remembered me once (a good few years ago now) when I was younger and served me my ramen without mushrooms as she remembered I didnt like them! I think they're yummy now, though :)

I’ve been here twice. Both times the service was disappointing and hard to get wait staff’s attention, it does not feel welcoming to walk in and be ignored by several people. We were placed at a bench seat facing a mirror and a staff member sat next to us with headphones in to take his break with food. I ordered chicken katsu curry. The chicken was chewy and the curry sauce had no flavour except very salty, plus no garnish or vegetables on the side and rice was greasy. Chahan dishes are sparse in the meat. Disappointing because this place used to be good before covid. The toilets are in terrible state and from the 1980’s and in the ladies there’s an advert for a willybrush. Take what you can from that. Reading the reviews I see someone else mentioned about the saltiness of the curry sauce so it’s clear they are not dedicated to improving the customer experience.

This spot is my favourite place in Glasgow for sushi. the food is always fantastic. Unfortunately we came at a seemingly busy time where we had booked a table for an hour. the place seemed very quiet for somewhere that was supposedly fully booked. when time was up, we were asked to get off our seats for the next person while we were still eating and weren't even advised if there were spare tables or an option to take the rest of our order away that didn't arrive yet. I understand a restaurant being busy but as someone with anxiety that doesn't deal with abruptness well, I would have appreciated better service

Reasonably nice place for a meal, menu is basically just different combinations of dishes but the variety is not really any colourful, sushi portion have seen a better day. Otherwise a pleasant experience.

Been coming here for years and every time the food is amazing, the staff are kind and the prices are cheap. You always get a massive bowl for what you’re paying. Out of every Katsu Curry I’ve tried the one here is my favourite. Also the food usually comes out quite quick so it’s ideal for lunch or a quick meal. Love this place, don’t know how it’s not full every time I’m in.

Been going here for the best part of 20 years. Food always the same standard and yummy. Vibe is that you cN come in yourself and read a book whilst tucking into ramen... or a group and have a big sharing table. Staff are always welcoming and inviting 😊. So glad it survived lockdown as most in the city havent.

I went to Ichiban when I was staying in Glasgow for my studies and the restaurant is excellent. You really feel the ambiance of Asian countries here from the amount and the quality of the food sugested, the structure of the restaurant and also its sets. Service was good in my memories, attentive and sweet. One of my favorite of the whole city

Asians take note. The ramen is just shin ramen instant noodle packet with some dry chicken meat. Terrible portion sushi. Just a typical western take on asian cuisine, save your money for somewhere else.

Great sushi and noodles. No more floral tea which was disappointing but food is delicious and I got there at a quiet time.

I’ve been here once before with my family and I remembered it being a good experience. While the food was still stunning, the service was lacking. It took a while to get our order placed, and then wrong food was brought to us. We were never asked how everything was, or if we needed more drinks. Once we had finished we put the bowls to one side to show we were finished and waited about half an hour to get the bill. Overall it was fine, but, unfortunately, I don’t think I’d go back again.

Just love this place. Always say we’re going to try somewhere new but just keep returning. Staff are always helpful. One of our family members has several allergies, but they always manage to make something suitable for him. Food is incredible. Trying to work my way through the whole menu! We rarely book as it’s always a last minute visit, but they always manage to fit us in with just a short wait. Will definitely be back again and again and again!

Extremely tasty and a varied menu. In a good location and fairly affordable. Very polite staff and quick too. Didn't have to wait long for food to be served. Is busy but they still had a table for me even though I showed up without a reservation.

This is upstairs with only a doorway on street level. The staff was great and the food was great.

It's easy to walk past this fantastic restaurant because although the entrance is on ground level, it is not immediately obvious - the service is upstairs, with some diners looking down at passers by on the busy street as they eat their delicious sushi. Ive been here a few times recently and highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys good Japanese food. Only a few minutes walk from Queen Street train station. My favourite is the Bento box as it offers a nice array of food types all in the one meal.

we arrived as a walk in on a friday and was accomodated even though it was very busy. the atmosphere was great, the table clean and the staff very friendly. the food was delicious, i highly recomend the don buri bowls. this is a hidden gem but very much well worth it.

Had a birthday lunch here, yesterday. Service was excellent and prompt and the food was terrific. Really fresh and tasty, the 3 cooks doing a wonderful job. Bill very reasonable too at just over £60 for 3 mains, 2 sides and 3 drinks. Will definitely come again.

Not easy to find but well worth a visit, food is fresh and tasty, good value, food is prepared in an open kitchen which we like.

I've ordered Ichiban to my home, specifically the pork & prawn chahan & miso soup, both delicious. You can tell it's restaurant quality compared to a more standard Asian takeaway, however you will pay more for that quality. However giving 5 stars as the meal was delicious and £12 for a main meal isn't bad value by any means. I look forward to visiting the restaurant at some point!

Been eating here regularly for oh . . . going on 20 years now! jeeze. Anyway, This time was just as good as any other, The staff are always friendly and the atmosphere is always relaxed. The main courses are generally pretty delish and portion sizes are good enough to fill even the big eaters. I usually order a few side plates with some beer and sake though, drinks and nibbles all the way. In honesty, is every dish on the menu great? no, there is definite room for improvement but there is some absolutely bang on numbers (Listed Below) that keep us coming back. Rated excellent because, good food, great people, lovely decor and atmosphere and they never roll their eyes when they see me coming in to drink all their drinks and eat all the Gyu Niku Maki. Big mention to the current and ex staff that have made me feel welcome no matter what stage of life I’m at, be it dumpster fire or cloud 9 and of course Saiko, Paula, Paulas Daughter (Can't recall her name right now), Ena, Maisie, April, Wai-la, Andy, Winki, Danny, Teresa, Tommy, Jing fu, Jamie, Raymond, Linda, Arminas, Tammy, Stephen and Kat, are all 10/10 but there will always be a special place in my heart for No.2. (All the other staff too whos names I can't remember right now ^_^) Recommend dishes - Ichiban Ramen Chicken Katsu Curry Gyu-Don Side Dishes - Gyu Niku Maki Ebi Tempura Ebi Katsu Edamame Sushi - Its all pretty good, Order extra ginger and chilli oil for a taste sensation. Drinks - Kirin or Sapporo for me Hot Sake Plum Wine and Lemonade if they have the plum wine in stock, tasty tasty stuff.

Friend's bowl was just chicken rice & onions 😅. Mine was okay but so sweet. Salmon noodle chilli. The sides and sushi were good though.
