Ice Cream Emporium in Portsmouth

This is the only place that I know that sells Whippy in strawberry and chocolate and not just the usual vanilla! So for that reason I always go here for my strawberry ice cream.

The staff here are SO RUDE! I hate the way they talk to customers. Minimal choice of ice creams too.

Very rude staff, not been spoken to like that before in a shop.

I have just left this shop incredibly upset at the treatment of the incredibly rude woman staff member. I ordered two ice creams and went to pay by card but realised I had to transfer some money from my savings account to my current to pay for it, I noticed the woman behind the counter was getting impatient with the situation so I was being as quick as I could. The signal was very bad so I couldn't transfer so I said this to her, there were about four people waiting by this time. She said in a really abrupt and rude manner " well step outside and do it" ....I tried this and thought it had been sucessful then tried to pay again but it had not worked because of the signal. I said, I'm sorry I can't do it and can't get a signal. She got really cross and shouted as I was leaving and said " you come in here with no money" and told me to get out! I have never been so humiliated! She turned so nasty when she knew I wasn't able to pay at that point. She had a foul mouth and a terrible , unhelpful attitude. There's other ice cream shops near by that were so lovely and kind, I will never go back to The Ice cream Emporium.

First time visiting this evening, super lovely staff, delicious ice creams and super cheap. Can't say anything bad about this place

Limited seating but on a sunny day you don’t really need to eat in as you can’t sit on the beach, a bench or just stroll along the sea front. It’s a little expensive but decent enough. They manage the long queues well so wait times aren’t too bad. The selection of ice creams is large and we’ve never been disappointed. I find it odd that some people queue for 10 minutes and wait until they’re at the counter to then spend a few minutes deciding what to order. There’s a menu in the window and you can always poke your head in and have a look without pushing in. Maybe I’m just a grumpy turning into a grumpy sod!

Don't know how they managed to deliver 1 ice cream that was not melted fully and 1 that was melted it like it was done on purpose ?

Good display of varied flavour ice cream but no clear display of prices. The smallest cone with one scoop cost £3.50 . Walk a bit further left or right along the promenade to find a lot cheaper (prices on display) with same choice and larger portion. Over priced.

Absolutely amazing ice-cream. I'm sitting here right now eating strawberry and banana flavours in a cone. Delicious with proper bits of fruit. Some of the best ice-cream I've ever eaten and I've tried it all over the world, including Italy.

Great choice of options and lovely flavours to choose from. Staff are helpful and friendly. Our usual choice for our ice cream treats when visiting :-)

I went to get an ice cream on Sunday 20/06/2021. The two women that were working there were very unpleasant and rude. Such bad customer service. Won’t be going again. We certainly weren’t the only one that noticed that.

Tonnes of options and everything we ordered tasted amazing. Really nice seating area and great menu. Highly recommended

This has to be the worst hot chocolate I've bought. Overly sweet dish water with a hint of chocolate flavour. Once you blew the froth off there was a grey ish wishy washy looking liquid. Went straight into the nearest bin. 2 stars are because I've had Icecream from here previously that was a much better standard. My husband had a coffee which wasn't much better than the chocolate. Avoid the hot drinks but would recomend the icecream.

The worker was very rude towards us, pointing her finger at the plastic screen as if to suggest she can't hear us? Only then to tell us she can't serve hot drinks because she turned the machine off at 1530? Not good enough. Very disappointed

Just visited for an ice cream after our lunch at the briny and couldn’t fault the ice cream and there choice of flavours however the staff member who served us was particularly rude- a blonde bob haircut, not sure on name but wouldn’t like to come cross her.

I'm here a couple of times a week, we love coming down the beach for ice cream, this place does the best pink and white whippy ice cream. If you get a large you get a waffle cone, I have trouble eating all mine, but its do good. They have loads of other flavoured ice creams to try, best place in southsea!!

Lovely ice cream with no queues

What a joy to see them open again after the lockdown! On a cycle ride along the seafront, I noticed it was open and just had to stop for an ice cream! They do the best soft ice cream and such a choice, you can even had chocolate and vanilla or strawberry and vanilla on the same cone with a flake! Not overly expensive either, definitely worth a visit!!

When the small is a large and doesn't bankrupt you it can only mean 5 stars.

I love it in here. I find the staff polite and helpful. The ice cream and waffles are also lovely.

The best ice creams love the 2 colours. Would have give 5 stars if my cone wasn't soggy at the bottom.

The prices may have gone up over the years, and the portion sizes reduced, but this is still one of the best places to go and grab and ice cream. Reasonable value for money. Always a popular place so you may have a bit of a quqe, but it's worth the wait. 😊

Called in Sunday as looked most popular. Good selection of ice cream. However prices weren't displayed well and it felt rushed once we got to front. Also prices were bit expensive.

Best ice cream in Portsmouth. Been coming here for years when I was at uni 10 years ago and even today when I pop down to southsea in the summer I stop off here. I hooe they never change the ice cream.

Had a double scoop in a waffle cone... Banana Split and Rhubarb Crumble (or was it Crunch?). So good! It was a great follow up to our fish and chips. We are from the US and very glad we were able to stop here as part of our travels.

A stroll along Southsea seafront took us to South Parade Pier where we found this lovely ice cream parlour. They had a good choice of ice cream flavours which you could have on cones or tubs.They also had other choices like sundaes. This is the closest you will get to Italian ice cream. Staff very polite and the place was clean with some seating available.

An evening ice cream, after a walk on a windy seafront; what's not to like? Staff pretty chilled; we ordered a couple of sundaes but one or two of the required flavours weren't available, so we asked if we could basically customise the flavour combos, and they were perfectly content so to do. Nice banquette seating up the steps. Ice cream quality average-good. It's not some high end Italian gelateria, but perfectly OK for the price.

The best ice cream shop in Southsea! The staff are so friendly here. There is a good range of ice cream flavours, and their pink and white ice cream cone is certainly eye catching. They do milkshakes, made with any flavour of ice cream you would like! I would thoroughly recommend the waffles, which come in many flavours, along with a scoop of ice cream in any flavour as well! The prices are very good, and they're a lot cheaper than Scoops, and a lot better. Would recommend!

Fantastic Ice Cream shop on Southsea front at the pier. I am Vegan and the ice cream was simply the best I have had EVER! (Beats Ben and Jerry's previously...) Staff friendly and great service with a smile. Thank you - highly recommended - especially to the Vegans wanting ice cream on a hot day (a big plus - MORE THAN ONE CHOICE!)

We came here on a very hot afternoon in July and it had obviously been a very busy day for the staff. I didn't expect to be able to get an ice cream here as I am coeliac and also have a dairy allergy. I was pleasantly surprised to see some dairy and gluten free ice cream on offer ( I think the brand was Swedish glace) there was vanilla, chocolate and strawberry. There are lots of flavours of normal dairy ice cream and the cones looked good too. Its well worth a visit if you are near the pier in Southsea and especially if you have dietary requirements.

Popped in on a cold winter's day for a hot chocolate, of course the children still had ice cream. Decent selection, clean, nice decor for a pier.

Good service and staff were friendly. Nice environment at South Parade Pier. Ice cream was very nice.

We received a warm welcome on both occasions we visited and were surprised at the wonderful array of ice creams on offer. The first occasion we chose a 3 scoop ice cream and all flavours were fantastic. The second occasion we decided to spoilt ourselves and had a Minty Madness Sundae and Strawberry/Cinnamon Waffle. Both fantastic and we were not disappointed. The seating area was beautifully clean, tastefully laid out and a real pleasure to sit and eat there. Highly recommend.

Small but enjoyable little Icecream Parlour. Situated at the front of the Southsea pier. Very enjoyable choice of Icecreams.
