IBLEO Restaurant in Waltham Forest

We tried this restaurant for the first time with my partner and were really impressed by the quality of the food. We had a pesto and ham pizza and a tiramisu. It was excellent! The atmosphere of the restaurant was nice and relax and the music wasn't too loud. The staff is very friendly. I highly recommend this place and will definetely come back again!

I recently visited Trattoria Iblero with high expectations, especially when it came to their pasta dishes. Unfortunately, my experience with the pasta carbonara left much to be desired and fell short of the traditional Italian standards. As an Italian cuisine enthusiast, I was genuinely disappointed to find that the carbonara was prepared with bacon and cream, rather than the traditional combination of yolks, pecorino cheese, and guanciale. This departure from the authentic recipe was disheartening, especially considering the restaurant's claim of having an Italian chef/owner. On the positive side the liver was good 👍🏼

Super authentic Italian, my go to if I want a real taste of Italy.

Decided to book a lovely Italian meal here for New Year’s Eve with my partner and mother, and after reading the reviews we thought we’d give it a go. On arrival it look 3 minutes to even be noticed after standing in an empty restaurant with one table taken. Starters: the prawns were nice and so was the onion soup, the calamari was cold, but being people who don’t like to complain we ate this and didn’t mention it. On to the mains: prawn linguine tasted like a heated up microwave meal, bland with no flavour and overcooked pasta. Pollo Taormina, again it was bland and lacked flavour, said it came with seasonal veg of the day which was an over boiled bit of broccoli tossed on the plate. Risotto Mare e Monti came out first with no prawns, so sent this back which then came back out with prawns which were cold. They looked cooked but were cold so were just tossed into the risotto presumably from the microwave. It also was bland with no flavour so we sent this back without eating it. The other two mains we ate half of as we were starving, but again didn’t finish both meals. I thought this was meant to be authentic fresh Sicilian cooking?! Which clearly it was not. Onto desserts. Tiramisu was the last bit (we sat down at 6pm on New Year’s Eve?!) it was soggy and tasted like watery sponge. Crème Brûlée very average the top hadn’t been caramelised properly the dish itself tasted ok. Apple pie was meant to be with a crème sauce, there was none of this and again was very soggy. I was asked if i liked it heated up I said yes but it was given to me cold. By this point I had given up and just wanted to leave. When we finally got the bill they left everything on the bill minus one desert? Even the risotto that wasn’t eaten!! I said to the waitress that I’m sorry but I’m not paying for any of the mains as the food was not up to standard. The waitress went to speak to her manger which I watched and you could see him shouting at her and making hand signals like he was angry. She then came over and said I’m sorry but he will only take the risotto and one of the mains off of the bill because we ate some of our mains 😂😂. So embarrassing. Didn’t even come over to speak to us!! I paid the bill and we left. I got home to a message from the manager. I will attach photo by also copy the txt into here for everyone to read “ This is trattoria Ibleo, I'm the manager, we are the best restaurant in the area and we prepare only fresh food every day and you just offended us very badly. Don't bother to book here ever again. You and your lot don't deserve real food. ” You should be ashamed to send messages like this to customers. Don’t worry we won’t be back. Couldn’t pay me to eat at your restaurant again. As for being the best restaurant in the area……have you ever heard of Belsit?

Great restaurant, wonderful chef, really friendly service and reasonably priced menu.

Fabulous all rounder , food was delicious and plentiful.Antonio was most patient and accommodating toward my lactose intolerance and from start to finish we all had a wonderful relaxing lunch. Highly recommend.

Dinner was lovely. Steak Diane (special), Branzino, and Penne Norma were all served in large portions for under $20 each. Definitely shareable items. The Calamari tasted fresh and was cooked just right.

This was our second visit this summer to Ibleo, and this time we came with friends and it was just as good as our first time. First time, we had rabbit and chicken in cream sauce, lovely. This time, two of us had liver, done two ways, delicious and still soft and moist; another of us had the lamb shank, which was also delicious, and lastly one of us had swordfish, also nicely cooked. We all loved the buttery saute potatoes and the broccoli was done perfectly. Not a bad tiramisu either and just a fantastic, hard-working, working little neighbourhood restaurant where flavour comes first. They also do very good wine. Excellent place.

This is a great little neighbourhood Italian, in fact a little jewel. We went a few months ago but I forgot to review it then. We had rabbit stew and chicken in a cream sauce. In both cases, the meat cookery was excellent and the flavours were full and vivid. The waitress was lovely to us and we ended with free sambucca. Can't wait to go again and we'll be bringing friends.

We’ve just had dinner here tonight and the food was incredible, this place is a hidden gem in plain site, I’ve walked past more times than I can remember. It’s literally a case of “you can’t see the wood through the trees. The calamari and deep fried Brie was to die for & the mains were exceptional. Why have we never noticed this restaurant before remains a mystery.

Antonio (front of house, proprietor), Giovanni (chef) and their staff do an excellent job of providing fresh, authentic whole food (Sicilian, and broader Italian), in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Check out their menu online; also they have a daily specials board with something for everybody. They are usually busy on Saturday evening (not sure about Friday), so do book; week time, just rock up and enjoy something delicious! The bar is a friendly place just to hang out for a drink, or for apreprandial tipple. Do try them - you'll probably come back. They only do lunch service some days - check availability on the website.

The food was incredibly tasty. The portions were huge and the service was fast and very polite. Totally recommend this restaurant vs. some of the more snooty places on the street

My favourite restaurant ever! This restaurant has really stolen my heart! Food is outstanding, always so delicious! The staff are so kind and accommodating. Has a family and friendly atmosphere, such a lovely and warm dining experience. Perfect for families and romantic dining. Menu is brilliant and the selection of wines and desserts are fabulous. Definitely worth the experience and I’ve been a long-standing customer since I visited.

Excellent freshly prepared food. We had chicken liver pate as a starter. One of the specials for a main: Skate and my husband had pollo Milanese. All delicious. We’ll definitely be back.

We have eaten here a few times before over the years as a family, with a group of friends and have ordered takeaways, too. The food is as amazing as always and the staff are extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. This family-run restaurant is a real gem and we have no hesitation in recommending Ibleos to anyone who is looking to eat out.

Honestly, as an Italian, the best coffee latte I had since a while in London. And the pizzas are so tasty too! Totally recommend.

Visited with my family tonight. It’s a lovely authentic Italian restaurant. It’s been recently redecorated and it looks wonderful, very modern. The food is absolutely delicious. Went with family tonight for a lovely meal , starter was amazing with a generous portion of prawns and crab next the veal Milanese with spaghetti was excellent and my brother had Calves liver which was excellent too and also very generous portion , desserts and wines were lovely also a friendly service.They have spruced up the decor which looks more modern now so well done to them We couldn’t fault anything tonight as we have been many times before and as always 5 stars 🤩

Service was very good, polite and friendly. There was a good if somewhat loud buzz to the place (due to a very noisy table of 12 or so behind us). The food was ok unfortunately we have just returned from Italy where we’re had some spectacular Italian food, so this was a slight let down. I had a caprese salad and my avocado was quite hard in my opinion a chef shouldn’t serve this as they can tell when slicing it if it’s suitable to be served.

Bruschetta and prawns are our go to starters. Owners are always very welcoming and you can feel that Italian familia vibe, and food is delicious!

I wasn't sure what to expect from its initial appearance it turned out to be a little gem. The food was excellent but it was the ambiance that particularly made for us. Maybe because it was a sunny evening and the bifold doors were opened up but once customers started to arrive the place took on a different feel.

We had a family gathering here and the restaurant put on a buffet , the food was amazing so much choices and everything was so nice. The staff were very friendly and the chef even came and asked what the kids would like and made chips for them. A really nice restaurant would definitely come again.

The service was fantastic, my brother had a diabetic hypo, the owner came out instantly with a chocolate cake, and dealt with situation quickly and professionally, can not thank you enough, this was on Saturday when they were busy with football, but that did not distract from excellent customer service.

After tasty and well presented starter both my partner and I were very disappointed with our main courses. I opted for the lasagne which was rather sloppy and was far too salty. My side salad appeared to be just thrown on the plate and not at all well presented. My partner had the lamb dish, again there didn't seem to be any thought to presentation. The potatoes were not freshly cooked today as they has thst reheated sponginess about them. I don't think we will be revisiting this restaurant any time soon

Ibleo is certainly consistent. It doesnt look too promising from the outside, looks pretty basic inside and the food is basic too. Cocktails were a high point. The food comes in big portions made with "basics" type ingredients and is not expensive. Service is very friendly. Probably close to the experience of eating in a small place in Sicily 40 years ago, but not the one that had you rushing back to Palermo.

Delicious food, amazing portions, very good value for money and friendly, efficient service. Can't wait to return as there was so much on the menu that I wanted to try ..what a find! Keep it up! Spag vongole as a starter was tasty, the other starter of smoked salmon wrapped over large prawns was fab quality and huge! Chicken in prawn and crab delicious. Steak with mushroom sauce was also enjoyed.

The best mussels and cuba libre in town by Jordan

Wow. The town I lived in growing up had a family owned Sicilian restaurant that was open for almost 75 years and this food reminded me of that restaurant. We started off with calamari and the garlic prawns cook in olive oil and butter. The garlic prawns was to die for.I ended up using the bread to soak up the rest of the leftover juices and garlic and olive oil. The calamari was cook perfectly and not rubbery like most places. The tartar sauce for the calamari was definitely homemade and mouth watering. On to the mains. For me I had meat cannelloni which reminded me of the Sicilian restaurant back homes cannelloni. So tender and delicious and you could cut thru it with a fork. The pasta was not over cook or under cook and the gravy, tomato sauce, left me wanting more and more. My wife had the tuna pizza which she loved. She said it was very delicious and remind her of the tuna pizza she used to have back in South Africa. So after we was stuffed to our limits we still decided to look at the dessert menus. The profiteroles look and sounded delicious so we each had an order. They come out with what look like a nice thick but gooey chocolate sauce over them that made taste like a bit of heaven. After finishing them, which took every empty space in our stomachs, we left feeling like a stiff pig. When the tab came we was pleasantly surprised at the price. For what you are feed you would not expect to pay these prices as they are not the outrageous London or even surrounding area food prices. This restaurant is a gem to find we will definitely be back to try more of their wonderful dishes.

The service was great, Antonio is very friendly.Food was all really good & very generous portions & it was also very reasonably priced.Would highly recommend this independent taverna.Please visit, you won't be disappointed.

PIZZA PIZZA PIZZA 🍕 If you're in Chingford and looking for the best pizza, look no further than Ibleo!! Their pizzas are cooked to a perfect crisp. My personal favourite is the 'Al Capone' 😙👌🏻 But it's also important to bear in mind that Ibleo does more than just pizza! If other traditional Italian food picks your fancy, maybe you might want to consider the gorgeous 'Pollo Milanese' or the classic 'Spaghetti Bolognese'. Whatever your Italien food needs are, I strongly suggest you consider Ibleo. Ciao!

Delicious and good quality food. Nothing fancy about this restaurant, but if you are after some great tasting, generous portioned food, this place is for you and I would 100% eat here again. One star deducted because of the toliets; no hand soap, no toliet roll holder, no hook for my bag (I hate putting my handbag on the floor) and a very dirty stained chair in the toilet. The bathroom needs a bit of love.

Had a take away tonight from Ibleo , picked it up from the restaurant and all items were very hot , very tasty and great value . Highly recommended .

We were a party of five and love coming here at least once a month to try new dishes from their large menu. I had the sirloin steak smothered with asparagus, mushrooms, onions and garlic which comes with fresh veg and potatoes and it was delicous. The steak was tender,a good size and cooked to perfection. We all chose different dishes and there was no complaints from anybody. Another great night and look forward to visiting again soon.

Went to Ibleo for a meal with friends. First impression was horror that the tables were so close together, I had to comment on this before the waiter half heartedly asked the couple on the adjacent table to shuffle along a bit. I saw no evidence of the social distancing guidance being adhered to. Our table was booked for 7 but my friend was running late, we were told that our table was needed by another party at 8.15, when we questioned this the waiter changed his mind. Dirty glasses added to the experience.The pizza was good, the pasta ok.Altogether a frightening experience for anyone who is trying to keep to Covid rules.

Genuine Italian restaurant serving excellent food at a reasonable price. The service was very good and both Antonio (owner) and Angela (waitress) were helpful and friendly. The restaurant is not luxurious, but if you want real Italian food cooked well then you won't be disappointed.The wine list is not extensive but includes sufficient variety to please most people.We will definitely visit again.John & Geraldine

We were a party of five and booked a table for dinner @20.00 hours. On arrival, it was good to see that the dining tables had been re-arranged to provide more than 2 m apart in accordance with the corona virus guidlines and we all felt safe in eating here. We have not eaten here since 16.02.20 directly due to the virus and this was our first restaurant visit out for all of us and we were looking forward to some great home cooked food and we was not disappointed. I chose the oven baked aubergines with parmeson cheese followed by the lamb with rosemary, chilli and garlic for my mains. Both dishes were delicous and the lamb had a real kick to it so if you like chillies, then this dish is for you. Antonio the manager was very helpful and gave us all a perfect evening and we shall certainly be back again soon to sample more dishes from their large menu.

Ordered online. Pick up time 6:15. Nothing ready. Not because they were busy. No deliveries so it's only takeaways and no one was waiting. So they were simply....late. Got food after 6:30. When we got home the Pollo Milanese had no potato sautee and no vegetable of the day. Is it really too much to ask to get what the menu says it comes with? My Pollo Vulcano was barely warm and the potatoes were actually cold. Probably sitting around whilst waiting for the rest of the food. Only gets a 2* as opposed to 1* because if it was on time, hot and we got what we ordered there was some flavour but as it stands nowhere near good enough when there are so many good Italian restaurants about. Shame.

The Criscione brothers excell again - so pleased they were open for take aways during lock down - still the best Italian/Sicilian food in the area!

Used to have a lovely waitress who couldn't do enough for you - now they have a guy who thinks he's God's gift!! Doesn't put pizza in "doggy bag" - pretends that tables are reserved when there is no one else in restaurant! Service without a smile!! won't be going back depite the excellent pizzas! Shame!! The guy shouldn't be there!!

Waitress a little sharp. We were a very large table & they did their best to serve us together but my Tagliatelle was served on a plate & all the pasta was small broken pieces & probably microwaved👎 Further down the table it was long strips of pasta in a bowl looking freshly cooked & more appealing. Not sure I'd go back in a hurry!

I love Italian food and that make me a critic as such.faultless and the bar they will oblige with any sports on TV.

Visited here with family. It was midweek and the restaurant was busy. The decor itself is old and dated and the place is quite rundown. The food was fine, nothing special but it was satisfactory. Price wise, probably mid range. Service was ok, but I received my main course while others were finishing there’s because the chef made a mistake.
