Huthwaite Tandoori in Ashfield

Wow! Lovely meal just now. This was the best meal weve had there, the papadum sauces were different to what we had last time, my peshawar nan was stuffed full and I recommend the king prawn jinga. Beautiful. Saaj is a lovely bloke and all the staff were nice too

Had chilli chicken as a main that showed 3 chilli's in the guide ( hot ). Thought it was very mild tho tasted OK just no kick. Wife found the chicken korma quite chewy. Onion bhaji's also bland. Service and atmosphere good.

I don't go anywhere else now I have found this place

Been this evening for the first time definitely will be returning soon 😋 food was amazing and really good portions, felt bad because we left some food. The service was spot on would give them more than 5 stars if I could, nothing was any trouble very kind and friendly. Lovely gesture at the end of the meal recieving a🌹 its the small thing's and on the way out the gentleman serving us even shook our hands. Thanks too the whole team ❤️

Appauling service. Would not reccomend. Was happy to leave us with partially frozen rice, potentially could cause food poisioning claiming they couldn’t ’do anything’ as all the ‘drivers had gone home’- yet they deliver till 11pm? Whilst ringing up, to try and resolve the problem, all staff was mocking the customers in the background making fun of their complaints- thinking we couldn’t hear them. We have now paid £31 for a curry. No meal. In my personal opinion, if you can’t handle the business of popular times, like New Year’s Eve, you should not be open on those days! Absoloutley appauling, terrible service, shocking food, would not reccomend!

I was on holiday in Pilsley. I googled for the local indian restaurant. Huthwaite Tandoori came up on my search. I am extremely happy that I found them. The staff were very friendly and polite. The food was fresh and arrived on time. I highly recommend that you try this restaurant.

Proper old school indian restaurant like they were 20 or 30 years ago. Fishtanks,patterned carpet & wallpaper, sugared fennel and a flower for the lady after the meal. Food is always great and all the staff are friendly. A real hidden gem

Nice indian food was ok staff very friendly , the restaurant was very warm could have done with some air conditioning on so felt a bit uncomfortable it was a nice touch at the end of the meal I got a fresh rose and a free glass of Baileys so that was good

I first visited Huthwaite Tandoori when the restaurant opened in 1990 and I am still going there 33 years later! There is a varied menu and the food is consistently good. Saag and his staff provide a welcoming atmosphere and the restaurant is suitable for couples, families or larger parties 😊

Missed the delivery first time due to their error. Then charged us double the delivery charge and just obviously reheated the food and sent it back out , over cooked and hard.

Turned up to pick up an order at 7. 20 minutes later I asked politely if it was ready. “We’re just packing it 2 mins” 25 minutes later my food emerged from the back. Can’t describe it as anything but a pisstake

Delivered on time and very hot. Unfortunately the food was very bland, the chicken tikka In a sauce dish was in little bits, not like the tender tasty pieces from a skewer that I am used to. It was not as good as a supermarket ready meal, shame as the reviews were good. The keema nan was soggy and had little taste. Prawn puree was average, first time I have ordered and the last.

Had a takeaway last night. Delivery took ages. The main tandoori chicken was awful , that's if it was chicken!! Was weird and green. Total waste of money. Will not be ordering again...

We took our older Sister Sheelagh who chose to celebrate her 70th Birthday at the best Indian Restaurant, Huthwaite Tandoori for a lovely Indian Meal.👌 We all would like to Thank the very kind gentleman who served our meals and also not forgetting the young ladies who were very kind too. Everyone of us who went thought each dish they received from starter to Main Meals were very enjoyable could not of asked for a better dishes 10 out of 10 👍👍 for each dish that was delivered to the tables. every bodies plates were empty. in fact I know I can speak for the whole group, It was the best Indian Meal in Derbyshire. such welcoming and friendly staff and of course not forgetting the Fantastic Family Company. It was a lovely night.🎉🎉🥂🥂My sister Sheelagh would also like to take the opportunity to thank Sarge for his lovely Birthday gift. XxX

We went here on a Friday night at 6.30pm. It was about half full at that time, but filled up by the time we left. Good food, plenty of it too. Friendly staff. Complimentary Baileys with the bill and a flower for the ladies, a lovely touch.

Huthwaite Tandoori you've really disappointed tonight, family of three ordering but got 2 poppadoms with no option of ordering more online, dips and pickles half the size but the same price as original. We've ordered from you for years and you've never disappointed us. Tonight made us think about looking elsewhere!for future meals .

We have been going to (and having takeaways from) Huthwaite Tandoori for more than 30 years. In that time, the food has been of a high quality throughout. It is our favourite Indian cuisine.

Had takeaways from here for many years and always been very good, unfortunately we had one last night and was terrible! The korma was sour the bhajis were rock hard like they were from the night before and the chips were also undercooked. Will be trying different Indians after that experience

Sat right next to the bar , shocking service food wasn’t right what we ordered , Will never attend again , Rarni 10 times better Didn’t feel welcome and rude staff

Was told delivery would be 1.5 hours, 2.5 hours later still no food arrived call to find out where it was, was told it was just leaving, delivery driver never turned up continued to ring the restaurant and they just kept putting the phone down, usually order every weekend never again terrible service!

Have been going to Huthwaite Tandoori on and off for over 30 years. During this time I can honestly say that I've never had a bad meal. The quality is consistently excellent with a warm welcome, and I am now using the delivery service for eating at home. Well done, there are not many local businesses that have this credibility and look forward to the next 30 years!!

Not so good now Saaj is away regrettably. Service slow despite the restaurant being less than half full, three serving staff on duty and our order being simple and straightforward. My roshon was watery although my wife's murchi was well spiced. This used to be our favourite tandoori restaurant but it will have to improve to warrant return visits

My in-laws took me here for the first time last night and it was honestly one of the best experiences I've had at a restaurant in a long time. Food was gorgeous and staff where very attentive and would definitely go back!

We wanted a change to our usual Saturday night takeaway treat, and where recommended the Huthwaite Tandoori. The food was excellent, and arrived on time. I called it though and the chap I spoke with was very pleasant.I had the Lamb Saag and my wife had the Chicken Khorai. We had chapatis, pilau rice, chips (why not) and pops/pickles. Everything was hot and critically not greasy. Our meal was a pre-order for a specific time, not everybody is able to accommodate but these guys did.This is definitely one we’ll be using again, and again!

Came here with my husband this evening and couldn't have had a worse experience. Wanted to treat ourselves to a meal out as we haven't done so in quite a while. Soon as we walked in just a bunch of teenagers/'servers" at the counter. Got gossiped and giggled at the whole time by everyone who worked in there, probably because of my appearance as I'm quite pregnant or just how I look or whatever. Didn't even stay for the main meal as I felt so unwelcome and uncomfortable I couldn't sit in there at all as I just felt like I were in high school again, the service was just absaloutely awful. Quite surprised as I had high hopes and now we're just severely disappointed. Only good part was we got it boxed up and ate it in the comfort of our own home. Food looked and tasted lovely though once we finally ate it.

I moved away from Sutton 30 years ago but return regularly to see family. This visit was particularly special as it was the first time out in a restaurant since we were allowed. What a good choice it was! The service was amazing, and the food is just as good as it ever was back in the 90's. The owner remembered my family and we complimented him particularly on the onion bhaji's which we think are best we ever had! All the starters were perfect, as were the mains. The menu is extensive, the Cobra icy cold and the wine well-priced. There's nothing to fault here, and a special mention to Alom who had great banter and made the experience even more enjoyable. Thanks so much, we'll always be back.

Our first meal after lockdown measures were eased so we were nervous. All staff members wore ppe and were extremely helpful. We had plenty of space in the newly refurbished upstairs part of the restaurant. Choice of food and pricing is very good. Staff very attentive and ready to offer advice. Great experience and highly recommended. Well done.

First time there I found the food to be very bland maybe I picked the wrong night

This curry house was out of this world. Beautiful food at very good prices. And such attentive staff with brilliant manager. Thank you all for such a wonderful evening and my family and I will see you very soon. Update 06/04/21 The restaurant is still doing takeaways and a delivery within 5 miles. I live 7 miles away, but when I got home the food was actually still sizzling when I opened the containers up. I kid you not! And the food was just divine. Lamb biriani, vegatable curry, bombay aloo and a porata x 2 Thanks to the friendly staff that cooked it all up

We've not had a curry in a few years from Huthwaite tandoori and to be honest it wasn't the best we've had. Its nothing like how it used to be it's put us off curry for a quite a while

13 Feb 2021 - based on our experience below, ordered our second takeaway since August 2020. Food very good, the Chicken Tikka Khorai a particular favourite,. Sadly the poppadoms ordered were not delivered, rendering the pickle selection useless. Called the restaurant and we agreed they could take the £5 or so off the next order. Disappointing but a small problem in the scheme of things. Order number 536, an internet order. Aug 2020 -First time here, lovely food, will be back even after the eat to help scheme. Friendly staff too. Thank you.

Been coming here for over 20yr the food is always fantastic never ever had a bad meal I recommend this restaurant to everybody Saarg and his staff are brilliant here is to the next 20yr Another fabulous take away, the quality is fabulous it has never changed in 27 years, I just love this restaurant and the owner. Will never go anywhere else, thank you Saarg, and staff.

Tried this place instead of our usual. Waited an our and a half (collection not delivery) to get mushy and bland food. Nan bread small and underdone. I don't get why this place is so popular, it doesn't hold a candle to Bekash in Sutton.

Fancied a change of Indian restaurant, so tried this one, for the first time in over 10 years. The popadoms where excellent, along with the chutneys, we also ordered a side of onion bhajis, which where lovely. However we ordered two curries, my wife said hers was nice, but my chicken bhuna was bland and fairly mild, not medium as advertised. The sauce was full of onions, that seemed to have been slightly blanched, if I wanted that many onions in my curry, I would have ordered a dopiaza.
