Treated the family to a roast, and was delighted with what we was received, served in a nice and quick manner, drinks and food was perfect. Shall be returning soon.

I Dont know why the managers think its ok to be rude. I popped down for a drink i noticed the manager (i believe her name was ann) was closing the doors,but there was still a couple of tables with full pints on, I literally asked if i could pop in for a toilet before i leave, as i was sat in the garden and she was so rude didnt even finish my sentence before i got told no you can clearly see im closing... yet its ok for other paying customers to stay? We booked here as it is very close to the crematorium, and they cater for this type of occasions. There is a fixed buffet including tea and coffee. We had only a small number of people, 20, attending and a section of the pub was reserved for us. Plenty of food, all fresh and helpful staff too. The car park was full and parking can be very tight.In general, the occasion went very well under the circumstances, and gave us all the opportunity to talk about things.

I have attended this pub often for funeral teas, the last being August 2018, and tried to book it 2 years ago for my Mother's tea. Unfortunately, it was unsuitable for our needs because they won't change their buffet menu. I suppose you can't blame them as they do so many funeral teas here that it has become like a conveyor belt and they don't want to be messing around with special requests - not that we were asking for anything fancy, just not a lot of spicy stuff. The parking lot is too small for the amount of cars that need to visit there for after funerals and there is very little, if any, street parking. I believe this leads to people leaving their vehicles in the nearby crematorium and walking over, this in turn leads to parking difficulties at the crem. It was also fairly expensive and, of course, if you want to supply your guests with alcohol, that is something else you need to factor in to costs. All in all, it seems that a lot of people are satisfied with the teas there, but it's just not for me. I would rather organise something with more of a personal feel.

Let me tell you the pizza at this place is like being in Italy it’s self. I have had lots of different flavours and the one that I favourite is the GLUTEN FREE CHICKEN PIZZA !!! yes ladies and gentleman they offer gluten freee SO DELICOUS ! I will reccomend anyone to go to the huntsman and try This out !

Came here for Christmas dinner with my family it was beautiful!!! The meal was gorgeous and plentiful lovely home roasted parsnips and potatoes the veg was delicious hats off the the chefs the place was packed and everyone was clearly enjoying them selfs the staff were enjoying them selfs and were very friendly what a day would like the thankyou all for making our Christmas !!!!

We hadn’t previously visited The Huntsman and Hounds, so our booking was mainly encouraged by some good online reviews. The pub is ideally located for customers that need somewhere to visit after attending chapel services at the South Essex Crematorium - just a short drive along the same road. It’s understandable that the place gets rather crowded at busy times, so we appreciated the private area that was allocated. Sue was especially helpful when we made our initial enquiry and telephone booking for twenty people. The price was fair. The combination of hot and cold buffet items with coffee, or drinks from the bar, was nicely balanced. Thanks very much to the Huntsman Team.

Popped in with my wife for a bite to eat after shopping in Upminster, never been before and was pleasantly surprised! The service was excellent; we were served by a very friendly and attentive hostess who it turns out happens to be a new deputy manager! Great food and a warm friendly atmosphere with real fires on a cold day!

Four roast dinners and they ran out of the following items roast turkey, roast potatoes and pigs in blankets. The food took almost an hour to get to the table and then when it finally arrived it was cold. The meat was completely cold. The food was slopped on the plate. We overheard other people trying to order and they were told it would be an hour and a half wait for food and that they had also ran out of roast pork at that point. We had ordered dessert but it took so long to get to us we cancelled the order. I think that they were really short staffed on the day and it seemed like there was only one person running around doing everything. Tables were not cleared for the whole time we were there. I won't be eating here again.

Waited for a long time to get the food , when it finally came out it was missing items and was not that enjoyable and was tiny compared to what we are used to when we visited previously, place was busy couldn't see anyone that was happy with what they got .Total waste of time and money.Will not be returning

I went here with my daughter and two grandsons aged 9 and 12 to finish half term week off. My youngest grandson chose where he wanted to sit over the back in the corner. My daughter popped over the road to the Jewelers. On her return we decided what to have. A funeral party started to appear and was over to the corner of the bar.My daughter went off to order the food and returned to say that we could not sit there as it was reserved for the funeral party, behind her was Marcel the waitress who was very rude saying we could not sit there.(As if my daughter was incapable of telling us to move. There were NO reserved signs, the problem is that the pub was quite busy and there were only two staff on NOT enough with a large funeral party and passing trade. The thing that let the food down was that my daughter and I ordered prawn sandwiches, they prawns were lovely but the spread was disgusting and spoiled the whole meal. So on the whole a complete waste of money, we do not pay to be spoken to like that. We will not return.

Had a great meal here, really nice to find a lovely pub,and such friendly helpful staff, and delicious food, had homemade nachos, with pulled pork and baked camabert, which we both shared, for main course, we had fish and chips and lasagne, everything was fantastic, great hot tasty food and generous portions, will definetly visit again

We visited for sunday lunch and found the food was pretty good we had roast beef, it was very busy at the time we went in at 2pm on sunday, i did feel that at that time more bar staff were needed, it took a long time to get served, we sat near a window and could'nt help noticing that the blinds are very dirty, the service was very friendly and helpful. we would visit again.

Recently visited for a family get together in the afternoon. Warm friendly welcome and atmosphere. Food was good, well prepared and served by attentive generous staff. We will visit again.

This is my local and has been for years, perfect for a quiet one & decent food. It’s quiet unless there’s a funeral going on (which happens a lot)

Whilst the cheese and pickle sandwich I have was very tasty, nice brown bread, the salad had definitely pass it best date, lettuce was going brown, My biggest issue was the women's toilets, when I say the petrol station toilet was far less smelly and definitely cleaner than the Huntman's. The smell took your breathe away.I would not use the upper stairs ones after that and used the lower toilet on the ground floor. Such a shame Little gripe they use the UHT small packets of milk, small things make a pub and a little fresh milk would make tea taster, without the fact of all these tiny plastic pots going into the environment, did get some fresh when I asked on second cuppa, served in a gravy pot :-)

I used the Huntsman as a venue for the Celebration of my Wife's recent passing and was provided with a wonderful service from initial enquiry through to the final goodbyes. Food and drink were first class and well priced. The Staff could not have been more helpful and anticipated many of our needs on the day. 80 people attended and not a bad word was forthcoming, just many thankyous for a lovely afternoon and evening. We visited the Huntsman and Hounds to book somewhere to go after a funeral.From the initial booking right up to when we left the pub at the end of a really sad and difficult day as a family we cannot fault this establishment. Even though they must have many people use the pub for the same reason all the staff were very caring unobtrusive but made sure we were well catered for. The food was really lovely and the changes to the menu we requested were made with no fuss. Having popped in to the huntsman and hounds for a quiet drink on a sunny evening, we decided to sit in the garden. As we sat we noticed that all of the surrounding tables, including ours were covered in ants. I realise that ants live in the garden but do feel that if the tables were regularly cleaned this wouldn’t be such an issue. There were obvious food remains and grubby marks on many of the tables and this made the whole experience a lot less enjoyable. The garden itself was very littered with sauce packaging and other rubbish and there was a general unkept look about the outside area.

As it was a lovely evening we sat outside as it was mid week it was not so busy but lots of people inside, huge garden looks as if it gets really busy at weekends had a really nice atmosphere, friendly helpful staff. We just had a main course as wee met our son after finishing work. He had the ultimate burger with sweet potato fries which looked lovely and he said was delicious. My husband had a steak which was cooked well he too had the sweet fries which he loved< I had the steak pie which was a whole pie which really pleased me excellent.

Came on Saturday for a friends birthday was a tad apprehensive as the football was on but the atmosphere was amazing !! A small screen so not to in your face if you didn't want to watch football but the pub was decorated beautifully football flags and balloons everywhere even the staff behind the bar had England shirts on they were clearly enjoying their job we had a very enjoyable day the drinks were reasonably priced will definitely be returning to try out the menu !!

I have visited this venue on quite a regular basis and really enjoy the staffs friendliness and good attitude despite being very understaffed. The BIG issue I have is the lack of cleanliness and hygiene in the women's toilets. The initial pong as you walk through the door is over whelming and a serious amount of flies seem to live there permanently. I have complained on several occasions but alas seem to fall on deaf ears. Its a fantastic pub and eatery if you don't have to use the loo .

I hate having to write this but I visit this pub reglulary for a number of reason, wakes, birthdays, quick drink or a bite to eat and it is the same things that just let this pubs down:

We dropped into H&H; for the first time yesterday evening. Looked cosy and welcoming from the outisde, great garden space and the bar staff did not disappoint as we were greeted with a warm and friendly smile. The menu selection is fantastic, they have such a wide range of dishes including lots of vegetarian dishes and I saw a couple of vegan ones too which is refreshing. We paid just over £25 for two alcoholic drinks and two main courses which was really reasonable.

Always a good atmosphere. Food is better than average sometimes great. Staff are understaffed for the amount of visitors it has there should definitely be more however the ones that are are hard working and friendly.

Visited for lunch. A very varied menu, offers a choice of three, two or just one course if you prefere, I had garlic dip to start and pasta to follow, which I found anough for a pub lunch. Good selection of wines average price about £13 .

Had a funeral wake there. Coffee and tea were not available until people had bought drinks for the bar. There was not enough food provided. They also ran out of plates and a member of staff advised that she could not get any as she was serving at the bar! Not something that you expect when you're already not in a good place having experienced a loss in the family.

This pub is popular with funeral parties due to close proximity to Upminster Crematorium. Good basic food reasonably priced.

Went today with my wife our daughter and her boyfriend. The pub was very busy. Three of us are vegetarian and the choice is very good and the prices very reasonable. Three of us had halloumi and and chips and one had scampi and chips. Service was quick and the food yummy.

My friend and I had to organise a wake for her husband and the manager was brilliant and friendly and polite . He explained everything and took all our details. The bar staff were also polite and friendly, the pub is very clean and the food was gorgeous service prompt. A very nice pub will definitely go again

This pub is normally rather good - minus the fact they place only one member of staff behind a packed bar! The food was disappointing - have been a few times before but now will not be back- they seem to have nothing in stock.. ordered starters, mains and dessert, on every course something was missing because they had run out. Just overall good for a drink but avoid eating here when there’s a much better pub ( The optimist ) down the road...

Held a wake here and was looked after by Catherine and her team,buffet food was good and ready shortly after arriving we could ask for more if needed,we could have as much tea and coffee as we wanted,service at the bar was prompt and staff polite we was able to open a tab and pay at the end which was convenient.

Came here today with friends. Plenty of free parking, spacious pub. When we got to the bar I was told that they had no Doom Bar or small bottles of Prosecco.....er, it's a pub. Canopy mark as average

I attended with my family for my aunts funeral on the 15/12. The barman on duty that day was attentive and very pleasant. The food was very good and the atmosphere helped with a difficult day.

My wife and I with many others attended a buffet following a friend's funeral and I must say he whole experience was handled professionally and we'll. Four of us stayed for lunch, not that the buffet wasn't excellent, but we wanted to try the menu.

This is a very pleasant looking pub , you have to go to the bar to order this was not a problem ,but the barren were very miserable, not very welcoming , the food was not very good lots of veg not a lot of meat dry and tasteless, service was ok but we will not be going back

We were pleasantly surprised by our visit to 'The Huntsman'. As it is a chain restaurant, we did not expect the really good standard of food that we had. All 4 of us had 3 courses and we all enjoyed every mouthful. The service was also good and the prices were very reasonable. There is a great 'buzz' to the pub and we spent a really lovely evening there.

Attended a Birthday Bash here and was pleasantly surprised as venue was very nice with a good atmosphere. Didn't eat any of the meals from the menu but had platters of food which were far better then expected and very tasty.

Pub located on the outskirts of upminster and accessible by bus. I had Sea Bream here which was reasonable and served quickly. It was very quiet when i visited, but i did get warned there was a party of a 100 in later that lunchtime. Fortunately i missed them.

I would not hesitate to recommend this pub. 14 of us arrived for dinner about 6.30pm. There was the debris of one funeral reception buffet in one area of the pub and about a dozen people from another funeral party in another part of the pub still buying drinks and eating with some food still on the tables. About 5 people were waiting to be served at the bar and then we arrived. There were 2 staff on: serving at the bar, clearing tables, serving food. Our seating area had been reserved and we'd decided to order individually with a kitty for drinks. None of this was a problem for the staff who were pleasant and efficient. The drinks are reasonably priced and the food when we got it was exceptionally good. Portions are large, food was freshly cooked and well presented. Inevitably some dishes had run out but there was enough variety for everyone to be happy with their second choice. The staff were marvellous but absolutely run ragged, flat out non stop until we left about 10pm. By the time we left, all tables were clear and save for what the existing customers were having. The staff (Kim and Joe) deserve real praise and thanks but management - you need to be there and see how fast and hard they work because it seems to me you have no idea. This pub is situated in the leafy area of Upminster. Great service and good food choices. Enough parking space but i guess on a weekend it will be tight. Will visit again soon.

We were a group of 3 having lunch. We were welcomed pleasantly and shown to our table. There was plenty of space between tables which meant we didn't have to listen to other peoples conversations.

The atmosphere was pleasant and both the service and food were good. This pub being part of a large group is reliant on the ability of the cooks to provide food well prepared and staff to deliver. Here it worked well.

Decidí llevar a mi madre aquí para su 92 ª almuerzo de cumpleaños y nuestro grupo de cuatro pareció necesario enviar las cuatro comidas, principalmente porque la patatas asadas eran hard rock - obviamente más superficial. En la camarera más llamando, ella cambió nuestro platos pero sugirió que optar por el puré de patatas como "todos los roasties son las mismas". Realmente decepcionante y una pena porque hemos tenido una buena comida aquí en el pasado.

Estuve en el pub para comer el domingo de la semana pasada con mi marido y amigos. El Huntsman es un rápido volumen de pub con comida típica, es parte de una cadena y te dan ese estilo de comida, bien presentada y el servicio rápido de la cocina una vez que se ha servido en el bar para tomar su orden. Siempre ocupado como está cerca del crematorio local y anfitrión se despierta, pero en 90 minutos estaba allí el barman era apresurado fuera solo sus pies. Hizo un trabajo de órdago a sea equitativo.

Estado aquí un par de veces y siempre encontramos la comida realmente buena relación calidad-precio y siempre caliente cuando te lo que no siempre es el caso en otro sitio.

Acabamos de pasar mi padre en despertar la ley en el Huntsman! Debo decir que estaba muy bien hecho. Puede acceder a la zona era y ya estaba a nuestra llegada. La comida se servía de inmediato y se ve un gran nivel. El personal era amable y muy acogedor.

Yo y mi pareja ir al Huntsman and Hounds regularmente con nuestra familia, es un ambiente agradable para todas las edades. Madre de nuestro despertador tenía el miércoles 1 / 03 / 2017. No gracias la gerencia y el personal suficiente. La comida era deliciosa, todo el mundo que me dijo lo buena que era la comida, el ambiente fue tan bueno como podría haber sido debido a las circunstancias. No nos apuraron, té y café disponibles todo el tiempo. Nos hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos. Gracias de nuevo.

He estado aquí varias veces y siempre disfrutar de la comida. Tienen un buen menú a partir de barato hasta todavía no está mal de precio. También te dan una buena parte de tamaño. Es un pub, pero es de buen tamaño y que no tenga prisa. Lo recomiendo sin duda.

La primera vez que he estado aquí, el personal era amable y el pub tenía un ambiente agradable. Todos pedimos comida, dos ordenados desde el menú principal y dos de menú. Aunque la comida estaba ordenados en el mismo tiempo las comidas del menú del día llegamos un buen 10 minutos antes el resto de las comidas.

Metimos en aquí para un bocado rápido para comer, habiendo tenido a malas experiencias en el pasado fue un poco dudosa.

Al entrar en el pub de mis amigos y yo nos quedamos alucinados por cómo muchas mesas estaban llenas de sucio vajilla, cubertería y vasos, cada mesa de repuesto estaba lleno. Este fue contrarrestada por la montaña de vasos que compliquen sin lavar porque el extremo de la barra. De hecho había una chica que trabajaba en el bar, que, después de nosotros, era entretenido en conversación con sus colegas que habían terminado su turno sólo aparentemente. Haciendo esto en vez de mesas. Una conversación realizada en voz alta, y delante de la directora, que parecía ser ajenos a la desastre en todo el bar, ya que deambularon por y fuera.

We sadly had cause to use the Huntsman & Hounds for my late Mother's funeral wake. Catherine was lovely and attended to all our needs. The buffet provided was very good and plentiful. The venue is close by to the Crematorium, with adequate parking.

Hemos celebrado una pequeña celebración en el Huntsman y estuvimos muy impresionados con el servicio y la comida que un grupo de nosotros reservamos una Cena de Navidad. De nuevo, la comida era excelente relación calidad-precio y la mesa que había sido muy bien decorado. Great pub,we had family and friends gathering of forty people. Food was a buffet,that everyone enjoyed,good selection of tasty dishes. Drinks good variety of cask ales and bitters Relaxed friendly pub full of character. Will be back for sure.

La semana pasada el Huntman and Hounds organizó el despertar para el funeral de mi madre. El personal era muy servicial y se ocupó de todos los preparativos de una manera realmente profesional. Nos asignaron un lugar acogedor en el pub y la comida era muy agradable. Me ayudó a hacer el día mucho menos estresante.
