Hunters Bar Ballyvoy in Moyle

Stumbled on this place as we were driving to our final stop for the day, decided to stop and eat. Wasn’t busy at all, just the two of us and a few locals that were so nice and chatted with us. The chicken tenders were so good, I was not expecting that for a bar because I’m used to America. And tried a shot of Dead Man’s Fingers, so yummy and I wish I could get that back in the US!

Staff were friendly and helpful, finding a football match to put on TV especially that would otherwise not have been on in the pub. The food and drink were ok, no complaints but not going to win any awards either. Nothing in the offer for craft beer fans. The Guinness was good though.

Horrible place. Food took way to long and we were the only customers there and meals were over priced. Salt had spiders in it. Tables and chairs were sticky and covered in dust and glitter. Won’t be back

I visited Hunters a few times during my stay in Ballycastle and found a wonderful welcome each time, both by the staff and the locals. It’s such a lovely pub with a gorgeous interior and beer garden. To top it off, the food was delicious and really reasonable. Can’t wait to return!

Purchased 2 dinners.....1 chicken 1 beef and is was of great quality and quantity. The stuffing and gravy gives it the 5 star.

The staff at Hunters were very friendly and we rented the space for a gathering on very short notice. The food was simple but good.

Had 3 nights stay at Ballyvoy Camping Barn. Very family friendly accommodation and very clean and comfortable.There was 12 of us stayed and we had loads of room and the 5 grandkids loved it.

Good choice of meals and sweets, great atmosphere and service. Very comfortable, plenty of parking. Well worth a visit

A authentic Irish experience with great food and over the top service. This was a short stop for us at first . We ended up spending over 2 hours eating at talking with the local people . Listing to Irish Music from the jukebox

Stopped for lunch today, not knowing really what to expect. My wife and I both had a superb roast chicken traditional Sunday lunch with all the trimmings, and then desert. Prices are very good too. We will be back 👍

It was one of the worst experiences in my life. Myself and my friends were sat at the table and offered drinks from a member of staff. After a while we were informed, that there is not enaugh staff on today and we wont be served any food...How very dissapointing. There was no note at the entrance to the restaurant saying that the food is not being served...And what is the point keeping the restaurant opened anyway with no food or staff in it...Well one thing is sure, we will never come back there again.

Worst meal in Northern Ireland I have passed this place many times and often thought about popping in, alas i did pop in and its terrible. Nice flowers outside and the place looks very inviting, i went inside and it looked and felt like a working mans club. I ordered the fish £9.50 and was asked if i wanted a side so i asked for chips. when i got the bill i had paid £2.99 for chips? so fish and chips cost £12.49. The fish looked great until i cut into it. soggy, bland batter and undercooked fish, the chips were over brown and very dry served in a greasey bowl. i can only assume that the cooking oil was yesterdays as everything was bland, oily and brown. 36 hrs later i still have indigestion and constipation. if i had of paid £6.50 for this fish and chips i would still have been dissapointed. so to recap, £12.49 for dry chips in a dirty bowl, Fish that was overcooked outside and undercooked inside. two sachets of unknown brand tartare sauce and some frozen peas that i didnt eat as they looked old and wrinkled. I dont know if the chef had a day off or is incompetent but it was the worst meal i have eaten in my memory and vastly overpriced with a side order of cronic constapation and indigestion. on a positive note the staff where available were reasonably friendly but thats all i have to say possitivley, i will not be eating or drinking here ever again. If the food was free i still would not want it. AWFUL

It is a beautiful restaurant and amazing food the owners teddy and Delores and staff are very friendly and helpful i would recommended it.

Read the mixed reviews here but decided to give it a go. Decor was OK, bit dated but looked to have been given a bit of a makeover in recent times. As you walk in there is a console table with a panel on the top which was broken. Could have been easily repaired. Not a good first impression. However, I'm here to give my view on the food. Menu card wasn't clean, food on offer was basic and old fashioned, but that's OK if its good. Sometimes you cant beat some good old comfort food. I ordered the steak and champ, rare to medium, my partner went for chicken Maryland and chicken goujons and chips for my son. Well, I'd hate to see a well done steak, mine was like a brick. Cut into random sized chunks on a pile of rather roughly mashed champ. The chicken Maryland was a full deep fried special which wasn't far off being cremated as were the goujons. Garlics fries were great, home made and tasty. Perfect pint of Guiness. When waitress brought glasses over they were wet, can't understand why, surely a dishwasher dries them? This place has such potential.. Ballycastle is a great location for dining out. It's set in a scenic area and the actual building has old beams etc so could be decorated really lovely.

Really great place, first time for us. The chicken was fantastic and the portions are really big. The staff were really nice and great service. All for an excellent price, will definitely be back.

Stopped here thanks to the sign outside saying that menu is all day. When we got in we were told that they only had a snack menu available eg chips, sandwiches etc We ordered sandwiches. Sandwiches really were awful. Cooked ingredients with untoasted bread meaning it was a huge plate of absolute slop of flopping wet bread. So gross. We were so hungry that we just accepted it. The thing that shocked me the most is just how neglected the place looks. The bar is so dirty and the toilets are sickening and looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in months. Outside was just as messy with a whole lot of seemingly broken furniture, bees everywhere drinking left drinks and cigarette butts everywhere. It’s a shame because on the surface it looks like a cute place but unfortunately once you sit down you suddenly realise what a cesspit it is. The plus side- the two girls working there were very friendly and seemed to manage the flow of customers well, but something just didn’t seem right at all. Cleanliness should be a basic that is ticked off.

We stopped here on our way up to the Giant's Causeway. The dining room is very comfortable and spacious. The staff were great - very friendly and helpful - and the food was fine.

popped in here on sunday (23/06/2019) as an outing for my wifes birthday. Its a place we have never been in but have driven past time and time again so we went for the birthday meal. As we walked in we noticed how spacious,airy and cleanly decorated the place is. We got a table by the bar and ordered our meals and drinks. I ordered the minute steak and my wife ordered goujons and chips along with a side order of garlic potatoes and the bushmills sauce..the meals were really nice worth mentioning to to other people to visit, they are that good and really affordable (unlike other pubs that get their arm in) so its a place we will return to again when in the area...the staff are very friendly too...

A massive thank you to Delores and her crew at hunters Bar who looked after us all weekend were we enjoyed drinks and bar food on Friday night the bar has an excellent selection of options and great value for money, On Saturday night 20 hungry cyclists tucked into an a 3 course meal in the dining room which is well appointed and cater for all our needs then on Sunday morning we tucked into a great Ulster fry which was fab. Thanks to all at hunters bar and to all at Ballyvoy camping barn for an excellent weekend of cycling and craic from all at Ardee Cycling Club.

The Hunters bar is a worthy place to visit if you happy to be travel across the coast road. With the food being inexpensive and décor of the restaurant being inspired by traditional Irish pubs. The drink is what you would expect with an establishment this, with single shots costing at £2.50 and a standard WKD at £3. Floors can tend to be sticky with drink but this is not a major issue when walking about the restaurant. For some traveling the coast road, it may be worth it to make the diverging path towards Hunter's.

WE arrived late in the day at Cushendall Pub was done doing meals and advised us to go to Ballycastle on our was we came across the Hunters Bar so decided this was it, went in was seated right away given menus and ordered, food was not long coming and for out we couldn't jump over the food on our plates, I just sat looking at it thinking how on earth were we supposed to eat all of that, so we started at the top and needless to say didn't finish our meals, you certainly don't go hungry when visiting Ireland, food was beautiful and the rooms were very clean will go again on out next visit for sure

Don't be fooled by this advertising. When you go in at lunchtime you are hold that meals are not until after 17:00hrs. Either take the sign down or serve meals.

Down the road from Ballycastle to Cushendal. Can't miss it. Ample parking a plus. Food excellent and lots of it.

A dozen bikers from all over GB and Ireland met here on Saturday. We were very well looked after with fine food, drinks and service. We'll be back!

Advertised pub food 12 to 9pm,when we arrived at 2pm was told there is no food served untill 5pm.reason given no chef available. will not be visiting them again.

After a busy day we found this restaurant so we stopped to have some late lunch.

This is what I got for a steak and chips in the hunters bar in ballyvoy. I could not believe they would think this would pass as a meal, after first having no champ left, then not enough steak left. Instead of offering to let me choose another meal. This is bloody ridiculous. Id never go back. The looks we got from staff after raising this complaint too... Not coming near us as we had a clear issue of the service.

Stopped by here after a day trip to Ballycastle. The restaurant part was dead and empty. We went up to the bar and asked were they still serving food. We sat down and ordered our food. I ordered the steak and champ with peppered sauce and my partner ordered the steak sandwhich. When our food came out we were bitterly disappointed. The peppered sauce did not resemble it at all, there were about 3 thin slices of the steak and the mushrooms were burnt. My partner ordered the steak sandwhich which consisted of 99% vegetables and some toast with a few slithers of steak. The drinks we ordered were flat also. Apart from the poor food and presentation the staff were friendly and service was quick enough.

Really dissapointed. Ordered a medallion of fillet steak medium rear. Got pieces of minute steak well done. Tasted awful. Restroom is dirty too. Usually I don't bother writing a review. This is a warning. Stay away.

Stopped off here for burger and chips...place was empty...dull and lifeless..biggest lumps of onion done in batter and almost raw,and stuck on top of the burger. Probably one of the worst meals I've eaten in a long time. Definitely wont be back

Foods great at a great price. Worth every penny

Just wanted coffee and a sandwich, that was over complicated. Tasty nonetheless. Better heading into town, which isn't far. The people having the full lunch seemed to be enjoying it more.

Stopped here today while out sightseeing. Friendly waitress & prompt service. The food was delicious & the portion sizes were more than generous. We couldn't finish it all despite our best effort. Very reasonably priced. Can't recommend it enough.

Disgusting food, awful atmosphere inside,staff was not nice at all,the bathrooms weren't clean either. I waited for my meal for 1and a half hour.The food is way too dear and the taste doesn't back that up. Avoid this place by all means

Unless you have three hours to wait for food ( not particularly tasty by the way ) then avoid this place. The staff is very rude and the bathrooms are a disgrace, there were no seats on the toilets in the ladies bathrooms. The restaurant in general is very dirty.

Thought we would go to Ballycastle for something to eat got to ballyvoy so saw a sign for food all day so thought there's a place so after sitting for an hour and it wasn't busy we got stuff and as the sign says food all day it must have been sitting all day can say it's the worst excuse for champ I have ever seen and the largest chunks of onion on the coast don't think I will be in a rush back

Called in after a drive up the Antrim Coast. The restaurant had about 3 parties dining...family groups mostly. We were attended to promptly and welcomed by a friendly member of staff.

Sunday drive out. Stopped for food. Didn't read previous reviews. I can only assume we hit it on a VERY bad day. Okay decor if a bit empty. No atmosphere and wasn't inviting at all. Needs must.... and food was the must. Friendly enough waitress who eventually came and took our drinks order then our food order. Easy enough 2 x beef dinner and a sirloin steak. 10 minutes later we were told there was no beef left. Not sure what happened in the 35 minutes we'd been there. But needless to say we left.....paying for the drinks. Poor show folks.

Stopped there with my wife on our way to Belfast. Had the BEST steak there. Even when I write this review, my mouth waters.

great place to go to if you want to be in the company of school children, some adults. amazed local counsel permit this,or that the local psni have'nt closed these premises,it's not as if they can say they dont know about kifs drinking there because everyone in the radiys of ten miled DO!!!!
