Humpit - The Hummus & Pita Bar in York

I would 100% recommend. I usually get the filled pitta which is a good place to start if you're not sure what to order. The staff are lovely, very energetic, and happy to accommodate to your preferences if you do not like specific items.

These doughnuts are incredible! Have to be tasted to be believed. They are VERY filling so arrive hungry. Very well priced too

First trip to Humpit. A coupon for a filled pita brought me in, and the server made me feel right at home. I didn't catch their name but they had short ginger hair and were working at 3 pm on Sunday 15th. Excellent service, very friendly and chatty, as well as delicious food.

Can always rely on humpit for a delicious lunch, either sitting in and relaxing watching the world go by or taking it out when I need something lush and filling on the go! The filled pitas are my fave, keep me full for absolutely hours. Always have a good chat with the staff. Love the loyalty scheme and trying out the different flavours of hummus / toppers they bring out. Amazing brownies too!

Greeted with a warm welcome by the staff, first customers of the day. Seeking drinks only, but the food looked really fresh and was reasonably pried, for such a big tourist city. Ordered a redbush tea, was warned that it came with almond flavouring - handy to know, but gorgeous flavour, with a free refill of hot water. Oat milk on offer. Only filter coffee available, from a serve yourself station - not great if with a coffee lover, but hey, it's hot and fresh! Will return when next in York. Card only - no cash accepted.

Lovely food, plenty to choose from and the homemade lemonade is delicious. Staff are so friendly and welcoming and it's reasonably priced too! Will definitely be returning

Visiting our daughter for her graduation we stopped in and had one of their delicious platters. The salad had a variety of healthy, tasty vegetables on it. The hummus and pita bread were superb.4000 miles away my wife’s bank had a breach and our initial knowledge of this issue was when my wife’s card was declined. The manager was wonderfully accommodating as we found another payment option—I’m sure many other places and managers would not have been as amazingly gracious as he was. We really appreciated the comfort he provided during that trying moment!Highly recommended!

My daughter and I went here for lunch between tourist attraction visits. They were very busy but apologised for the delay and staff were very friendly. The gentleman on the till advised me regarding sugar content in the cold drinks, so that I could make an informed choice for my daughter, which was great.We both ordered the filled pita, which was absolutely delicious, though it was hard to know where to start to tackle it as it was so huge! It came with falafel, salads and of course, houmous! My daughter struggled with hers as there was so much - we ended up tipping the filling into her bowl and then refilling with what she could manage...I helped out by eating what was left in the bowl!The only thing I might suggest is that they look into offering smaller pitas with a reduced amount of filling for kids, as my daughter felt quite over-whelmed by the volume of food until I removed some of it for her. Obviously, I had no idea how much there would be when I ordered, or I might have asked them to give her a smaller portion anyway! That said, we both thoroughly enjoyed the food, would be happy to return and would definitely recommend it to others.

Picked this place out for lunch in advance of a weekend away and it didn't disappoint. Fantastic freshly prepared houmous and falafel pitta packed with fresh salad and veg. Service was ace with staff even taking time to chat and find out where we were visiting from (Lytham, near Blackpool). Would definately recommend and visit again.

Humpit in York is just great, very different from the norm and the food and service are brilliant. Really worth a visit if you are in York. David and all the staff are lovely. Highly recommended.

A great place to eat for delicious vegan food. The staff are welcoming, happy, smiley and helpful and make the place a lovely place to stop for lunch! I had a stuffed pita and it was delicious! The coffee is amazing, is refillable, simple stuff but the best coffee I've had in a while. Can't wait to return!

The food tastes amazing as always and the service at this one was amazing. Timing was very good considering there was only one member of staff and he was taking Deliveroo orders.

Called in for some drinks whilst walking round York, homemade lemonade and iced tea. Food smelt and looked amazing, but had already eaten earlier in the day. Will be coming back for the filled pitta as now have FOMO.

Visited from hull for a day out and popped into Humpit, as we don’t have places as good as this! We all had the hummus meal deal with drink and side of sweet potato fries, i tell you that it was absolutely amazing! food was so fresh and the pita bread was so so good! service and the welcome of customers was fab too! cheers guys, absolutely loved it.

Three times in the past two months, I’ve arrived at humpit at around 5:30 and been told that they’re not serving, despite their website stating that they are open until 6:00. This is really frustrating and reflects a business that exist for the convenience of management rather than customer service. Hugely unimpressed!

Called in for the first time today looking for somewhere to get onto email and eat.

We had a delicious and inexpensive lunch here. Great choice and variety on menu. Friendly service, would recommend it. Food fresh and full of flavour.

The hummous here is top stuff, and the delicious fresh salads, falafels and sideorders make this place great. We also loved the lemonade! The lunch deals are brilliant value for money, they completely smash the alternative of mundane,pre-packed sandwich and a drink in other meal deals. The food here is fresh and filling and full of flavour. Thanks Humpit!

Visited York today and popped in here for an easy, cheap lunch. Not sure if we just came on a bad day but definitely didn't feel it was worth the great ratings it's got. The falafel was pretty average, the sweet potato fries were grim (semi-cold and not very flavourful - even my toddler didn't like them and she inhales anything chip shaped normally!), and the cauliflower side didn't have much taste and seemed a bit soggy. Not sure about York's other vegan/falafel options as we only go once every few years, but it was definitely amongst some of the worst falafel we've had before. A new Humpit has just opened near my sister in Northampton but she's not been yet, based on today I'm sad to say I won't suggest she goes any time soon.

SO GOOD popped in today for lunch and had the best filled pita filled with goodness, silky smooth hummus, falafel balls, fresh salad, tahini and tangy Amba sauce😋will be back!

Just eaten a delicious hump it eat in deal, £6.90! Hummus bowl with pitta , side and drink. V efficient friendly service and best of all they are dog friendly. Will be visiting again next time I’m in York.

Great idea to have fresh ingredients, great flavours and combinations, in a simple set up. What a simple but good idea to offer fresh pitta and hummus combination meals with no frills or gimmicks! the end result is healthy, great tasting food at a really reasonable price. Would choose this for lunch every day!

Love the food and I wanted to stay a while, but ate quick because it was very cold door wide open, didn't take my jacket off. Place looks uninviting if you didn't know the food was good! Big open space, lots of plastic children's chairs stacked and children's pictures on the wall. Don't get that, it's ugly. picture below left is the customer view. Small blue bowls are nice white bowls and plastic not very. The image like the right could easily be achieved :)

I am a dedicated meat eater visiting The Humpit with a vegan friend. All I can say is the food is simple and amazing and the up beat, personal and efficient service is awesome. I will look up this cafe again across the different cities they trade

Please give this place a go..I'm not vegan but the lunch loaded pitta was one of the best and tastiest things I've had in a long while.also being very filling..fresh ingredients and friendly staff.. excellent value for money...a shame we don't have any of these down south. Thanks again.

Lovely fresh ingedients in the salad bowls, added a pitta bread and pitta chips to share between the two of us. Hummus with a salad and falafel 's were all very tasty. Great place for lunch.

My daughter and I were looking for somewhere a bit different to eat (and veggie for me) and this fitted the bill. Fairly limited menu but lovely grub - mainly hummus & pitta bread, with some additions, but very reasonable and delicious. Highly recommend (if you like this sort of food!).

My family and I were staying in York and as hummus lovers we just had to eat here! I absolutely loved it. It had such nice food and an amazing iced tea. It was exceptionally clean and was wheelchair friendly as well. I cannot stress enough how divine the food was and I was was stuffed afterwards. A lucky find.

My first experience at this type of place. We had a three part lunch of hummus, a side and a drink and for two people the cost was just over £13. The staff were friendly, efficient and most importantly polite and attentive. The place itself could do with being a little bit cleaner and the broken table and chair were a bit of an eyesore to be honest, but that doesn't detract form recommending the food at Humpit

We ended up here for lunch as another cafe was closed which was so lucky because this place is great. Great value for money, tasty vegan food and happy staff. I would strongly recommend. Next time we are in York we’ll be back.

Have been to humpit in Leeds and enjoyed the lunch and so decided to try whilst in York. I was not disappointed. The humus, salad and pita were lovely- very fresh. Felafel also available. Effcient service. Prices are really top end for the cost of the the raw materials and the delivery level !

Ive been to this place a few times and the food keeps getting better and better! The staff are super friendly and the restaurant is super clean! I recommend the bowl of hummus with falafel and white pita! Great for kids too!

We thought the food here was very tasty. My four year old munched down the falafel without hesitation and the mixed salad. The homemade lemonade was also a nice little treat and all very good prices. The two staff members were very friendly and happy, singing away to the music. Atmosphere was very chilled and relaxed.

Honestly, I've been here quiet a few time but the last few have(quite literally) left a bad taste in my mouth. More often than not its really quite dirty in there and that reflects in the food, the salad in the pita, especially the tomato definitely doesn't taste right and the falafel is very dry.

This place, just delicious. Who would have thought a bowl of hummus with some pita and falafel would have tasted so good! The falafels were the shining moment, although everything else not far behind. We have the set hummus bowl meal, with the homemade lemonade, which was delicious. A great little find- food kept simple and streamlined, which equals delicious. Yum.

I don't understand all the good reviews, I found it overpriced and flavourless. They have good vegan and vegetarian options but so do a lot of places now. The quality and the portion of food for the price when I went was just not good.

We visited Humpit based on trip advisor recommendations and we were really pleased we did. The hummus was great, and the flatbreads were the best I've ever had. We had two meal deals, and then found out that our kids got a free kids meal too. The staff were lovely and I would visit again next time we are in York.

We stopped here for a late lunch on a Friday afternoon. I was looking for a place that could accommodate my food allergies to gluten, dairy, eggs, and tomato. The Humpit fit the bill!

I have eaten here once and thoroughly enjoyed the hummus and pitta bread, though i would not order the sides as they were very small portions so quite overpriced (approximately 3 of each item per side). I have attempted to go back a couple of times but both times, despite the website opening times, the restaurant has been shut.

Went in for a delicious and nutritious meal.... well I was greeted with the most dry filled pitta. I have eaten a lot of falafel in my time being a true vegan. But it was vile, dry, gone off cabbage, not the meal I was expecting.... especially for the price. Avoid at ALL costs. Got to Bakes & co instead for a stunning falafel wrap.

WELL. As a flexitarian, I often find out difficult to find interesting things to eat. I was walking around York for hours, hungry, tired, emotional...on the point of starvation. and then I saw it. HUMPIT. I was served a warm pitta with a separate salad and hummus bowl, which I was able to customise accordingly. For desert I had the most amazing vegan brownie, so good I bought a second for when I got home! All the staff were so lovely and welcoming, I was served by a blonde girl and two Geordie sounding men. Nothing was too much for any of them, and they created a wonderful atmosphere. Would recommend anyone who's got the hump to visit here! 5 stars all round! xD

Did the special and a salad, fresh enough ingedients, warm bread with the hummous, but a bit lax in serving to the table, several trips back and forth for cutlery and then no napkins. Reasonable value?

I love falafel and hummus, and Humpit is perfect for a healthy option along with a wide selection of really tasty salads! The prices are very cheap, a salad lunch bowel which comes with a bit of each salad, falafels and hummus is only £5.90 and you can order individual items for £2 each. All the food is vegan friendly, and the staff were very helpful and polite. There’s a lot of seating inside and the decor and music is very hip and trendy. For a cheap healthy vegan lunch that’s still filling at the same time, I really recommend Humpit! Also, a must for any hummus or falafel fans out there.

Absolutely brilliant service. The guys here are so good and the food is delicious and good value. The tahini cauliflower is delicious! The meal deal of pita, hummus, two sides and a drink is excellent. Clean and welcoming. We stayed in York two nights and came here for lunch twice. We will come back. Added bonus for those will allergies or if you're vegan/vegetarian is this place totally caters for you but you don't have to be vegan/veggie to like what they offer. It's just a bonus.

Got a great deal - bowl of humous, pitta bread (gluten free), a drink and 2 sides. I chose the bean salad and the falafel which were delicious, and a drink for all under £8.00

Finally got round to visiting Humpit with our daughter for lunch. We were made to feel very welcome, it was obvious that we hadn't visited before as we were hesitant at the counter. We had the recommended deal, which was very tasty and filling. Excellent value, even more so now that we've got loyalty cards and intend visiting time and again in the future. Could not fault anything about this place, can't wait to return.

I have visited this place a few times and love their salad bowl which comes with great tasting falafel and hummus. Variety of salads which complement each other. Great price. Very tasty and feels healthy.The only suggestion I have for who ever runs this place if they read this is ,to ensure consistency with the quantities especially hummus . Will definitely visit again.

I visited The Humpit yesterday with my friend while staying in York for a long weekend. We both had the meal deal so we had a bowl of hummus and pita each then we shared 4 sides between us. Everything was fantastic! So tasty and left us wanted more! Plus its 100% vegan, bonus! Please bring a Humpit to Cambridge!

My husband and I clocked this place when we were last in York and decided we wanted to try it on our return - what an excellent decision.

I got a Deliveroo meal deal. A whole meal pitta with falafel, salad and spicy salsa & homemade lemonade to drink. Oh my good lord - DELICIOUS, filling and arrived in less than an hour.

We visited Humpit when we started feeling pekish in York, and what a good choice it was. The filled warm pitta was stuffed with lovely things - I want to recreate it myself at home. The fresh juice they had was apple, carrot and ginger, but they were happy to give me just apple, which was really nice. The staff were jolly and helpful. The interior isn't much to write home about but as more of a fast-food style establishment it didn't matter.

Visited here on a wet Sunday afternoon. Friendly enough service and priced very well. Chose the meal deal of hummus and pita sides of falafel balls and tahini cauliflower. Really tasty. Very nice on the whole, but prefer the atmosphere of the Leeds branch.

Though initially I was a little confused at the menu, it has three main options.. Pita and hummus, with two sides, two of which aren't in the salad bar, but were great - mushrooms, and breadcrumbed cauliflower, Or- a filled pitta with all the salad bar ingredients and hummus, Or - my choice, a bowl of all the salad, tahini, hummus, tomatoes, salad, cabbage, chick peas, and more I can't remember, with a pitta on the side. The falafel were wonderful,moist and full of flavour. No matter what you choose, it's pretty much the same ingredients, all tasty, fresh and all work so well together you completely forget this is all vegan. I think there's room on the menu for a large plate with everything on - I'd have that as you don't want to miss anything, but we were full up from the normal food... We took my father in law who loves a roast, and he gobbled it all down. Coffee available too, with almond milk, and the most delicious vegan chocolate brownies. I took an extra one home for tea ! Just amazing food, a bright restaurant, take away or sit in, we fed the four of us for £20. I would eat here every day if I lived here... Oh, and definitely try the brownies !

Our first visit - loved it! Nicely decorated and staff were friendly. We all had hummus bowl meal deal - a bowl of hummas, two sides and a drink. Excellent value. Loved all the sides especially the pickled gerkins and salsa. Would probably buy extra pitta bread next time. Really tasty and filling.

York is a fabulous place, listened to some lovely music on the street before heading off to get lunch in the Humpit. Greeted with lovely staff smiling and happy to serve us as we do our bit to save the planet and animals, it might not be for everyone but I feel good doing my bit. Great atmosphere, lovely grub lovely staff, great City. Special times with my daughter.

Came here for lunch on the off chance that they might cater for my friend’s gluten intolerance. Turns out they do gluten free pitas and nearly everything they have on offer is gluten and vegan friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and service was quick and friendly. The food was really tasty too- I recommend the cauliflower side.
